About this sermon

Kathryn Kuhlman continues her little series on the "The Secret Place". Today, she reminds us to "seek first the Kingdom of God" and the law of "sowing and reaping". This show has helped me to become more like Jesus and I am sure it can do the same for you. The podcast never has any AI and rarely has music or commentary. I give a short introduction sometimes but Kathryn's talks are unchanged. Take care and God bless.

Well, another one of those heart -to -heart talks again today. Practical. As practical as the Word of God. As practical as the Heavenly Father. And as you read the Bible, so simple that even a child can understand. And in God's Word, we have the answer. To every man's life for success, a key for rightful living, I mean, it's right there. Whether you're a Christian or not, you need to turn to the Word of God for the secret as to how to live. Whatever you give your attention to is the thing that governs your life. And it's just like that. Attention is the key. Your free will lies in the directing of your attention. Whatever you steadfastly direct your attention to will come into your life and dominate it. I don't care who you are. I don't care how strong you are. I repeat this. Because it's so vitally important to you and to me. That's the reason there's some things that I would not look upon. There's some things I will not listen to. There are things I refuse to hear. There are things that I refuse to see. I refuse to read. Because I know that I have a kingdom within me. I know that I am the monarch of that kingdom. I must protect that kingdom. That kingdom is me. And I repeat, whatever you steadfastly direct your attention to will come into your life and dominate it. If you do not direct your attention consistently to anything in particular, and many people do not, then nothing in particular will come into your life except just uncertainty and suspense. You'll be like a drifting log. There are men and women who live and die, who accomplish nothing. They are just like a drifting log. They've given nothing. they'd receive nothing. If you direct your attention to the outer world of manifestation, which is in its nature continually shifting and changing, you're bound to have unhappiness, poverty, perhaps ill health. Whereas if you direct your attention to God, if the glory of God comes first with you, and to express His will, becomes the root of your life, then your eye is single, your whole body, your embodiment will be full of life. You can't miss. God first, the word of God says, and all these things shall be added unto you. What does he mean by all these things? Everything. Everything in life. Everything that concerns you spiritually, materially, physically. I believe that. Millions have tried and proven the word to be true. A God who cannot lie has made the promise. It is the first rule for living. If you want to live a life without fear and frustration, if you want security. If you want real life insurance. You know, I always smile about these folk who talk about presenting to you a policy for life insurance. Why, that's not life insurance. That thing you just signed. That thing that you guard so carefully. You're making payments on. That isn't life insurance that you took out. That's death insurance. And millions of people are holding a policy for death insurance. And few have really taken out an honest -to -goodness life insurance. You're so careful about your death insurance. And let me ask you, what about your policy for life insurance? Security, a life of happiness, a life of joy, a life of contentment, a life of void of frustration. You can go to bed and sleep at night. Oh, and I'll tell you, if you can go to bed and sleep at night, if you have peace of mind and peace of soul, you're the richest person in the whole world. And only one can give you and offers to you a real life. Insurance policy. And that's God Almighty. God first. And all these things shall be added unto you. The secret is putting him first. And then everything else will fit into place. It's like that. It's exactly like that. Whatever you give your attention to. It's a thing that governs your life. So if you give your attention to God and spiritual things, then you give your attention to God, to right living, to spiritual things. Then everything else will fit into place. Oh, sure, I'm not telling you that you won't have troubles. You will have troubles. Oh, my goodness, the life. That's life, because life is a balance. It's never unlimited joy. There can be sorrow, even tragedy. But the important thing is how you face it. And you can face anything when you have God with you. And you know he's there. And you rest in him. You can't fail. The one with unlimited power. The one with perfect wisdom. Perfect knowledge. You cannot fail with God first. Oh, if only we could learn how to live. You see, so many of us are destroying ourselves. We're our own worst enemy. Stop whatever you're doing right now. Look at yourself in the nearest mirror. You've looked at yourself to shave in the morning. You've looked at that face when you put your makeup on, combing your hair. But now look at yourself in a different way than you've ever looked at yourself before. And you say to yourself, am I my worst enemy? Am I one of those people who literally am destroying myself? Think about it. Just think about it. You're an enemy of yourself if you're taking into your mind things that will destroy you. Wrong thinking. You're taking into your mind things that are destroying your morals. And you do not have much left when your sense of morality has been destroyed. As a man thinketh, so is he. Growing yourself, that's exactly what's wrong. That's exactly what's wrong. You're feeding your mind on immoral things. And a deed begins, first of all, in the mind. It must begin in the mind. A thought makes a deed, and a deed makes the life. And when you see that wrongdoing, when you see that act of, that immoral act, always remember it had its beginning in the mind. Your mind. And you are the monarch of your own world, of your own kingdom. Now that's something to think about. And yet, you know, we blame everything on everybody else. We blame it on the neighbor. We blame it on society. Dear me, if everybody in the world is immoral, I don't have to be immoral. I remember as a kid, I used to come home and say, well, Mama, the other kids are doing it. And Mama, soft -spoken, would say, Catherine, I don't care if other children are doing it. You're my daughter. And you are not going to do it. If everybody else in the world is stealing, I don't have to steal. That doesn't give me a license to steal. I don't care if everybody else in the world is breaking the law. It doesn't give me a license to break the law. You see, it's just like that. We use it as a license for our own sinning by saying, everybody else is doing it. Remember, God does not change his laws or his word for one generation. God's laws remain the same today as when he gave them. And when they are broken, whether it's in the year or the year following that, no matter who the personality might be, rich or poor, no matter what his nationality or his position or his influence, With God, you know, it isn't a matter of prestige. It isn't a matter of color. It's a matter of keeping his law, his word. And his word remains the same. Heaven and earth will pass away. but my word will not pass away. All right. The other day we were talking about a personal word of God. I repeat it. With what measure ye meet, it shall be measured to you again. Now, is it not obvious that if only people realized all of this as being true, it would have the profoundest influence on their conduct. Would not such an understanding do more in practice to decrease crime and raise the general moral standard of the community than all the laws ever passed in the whole world? I believe it. You know, people are very apt to think, especially when they're strongly tempted, That they can probably escape the law of the land, outrun the policemen, or slip through the clutches of authority in somewhere or another. They hope that individuals will forgive them, or else be powerless to revenge their actions. Or that the thing will be forever sometime forgotten, or better still, that they'll never be found out. We have a generation of people breaking laws who are living on the assumption that they'll never be found out. If, however, they understood that the law of retribution is a cosmic law, impersonal, Unchanging. Just as unchanging as the law of gravity. Neither considering persons or respecting institutions. If we could get that through our heads, we would think twice before we treated other people unjustly. The law of gravity never sleeps, is never off -duty, or off its guard, is never tired out, is never compassionate or vindictive, and no one would ever dream of trying to evade it or coax it or bribe it or intimidate it. People accept the law of gravity as being inevitable, inescapable, and so they shape their conduct accordingly. Here's something. The law of retribution is even as the law of gravity. Water finds its own level sooner or later. And our treatment of God, our treatment of others, returns at last upon ourselves. If only some way, in just these few minutes, I could get you to see something. I wish I had the ability. I wish I had the vocabulary. I do not have. Therefore, I have to rely completely upon the Holy Spirit to take these few words, open your understanding. Your whole life will be changed. Go to the Word of God. We need to return again to God's word, God's laws. We need to come back again. Where we live our lives clean. Our hearts cleansed. Our minds cleansed. God's laws are inescapable. God's word is there, and if you live contrary to them, you're going to find failure. You'll find sorrow. There'll be heartbreak. You'll return looking at yourself in the mirror. And you say, yes. That woman was right. I was my own worst enemy. In spite of all that God was willing to do for me, I refused him. And I brought all of this thing on myself.
