"The Secret Place Part 2" Kathryn Kuhlman

The other day in one of our heart -to -heart talks, we were discussing this thing of the secret place, which is the essential factor of all of the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ. That doctrine of the secret place and its importance as the controlling factor of a kingdom. is the ruler of a kingdom. You and I are a ruler of a kingdom, and that kingdom is nothing less than the world of his own life and of his own experience. I am the ruler of a kingdom, the world of my own life and my own daily experiences. And I reminded you in our heart -to -heart talk that the Bible is full of stories of kings and their kingdoms, of wise kings, of foolish kings, of the rise and fall of kingdoms from every sort of cause. Now, each of these kings is really every man. And it's just like that. I repeat, each of these kings is really every man. You, me, in our daily experiences. A king. The absolute ruler of his own kingdom. Now, we're going to go a little deeper to something. And it involves... Every human being. You know, there's nothing in the world like the Word of God. If you want to know how to live, sometimes I think that this generation knows all about everything. I do not believe that there was ever a generation that has ever existed. A generation of human beings who knew more about life. who knew so little about how to live life. Sometimes I think there are very, very few people today who really know how to live life, how to face life. We're frustrated. We can't control our own life. Then how in the world can men control nations? Men who are trying to control nations cannot control their own life. And it's like that. If you really want to know how to live, how to live a successful life, I'm not talking about just merely existing, but how to control your own life, go to the Word of God. Now, there's a scripture. It's only five short verses and only about a hundred words. And yet, it's hardly too much to say that at its simple face value, it's the most staggering document ever presented to mankind. For in these five verses and not more than a hundred words, we are told more about the nature of man, the meaning of life, the importance of conduct, the art of living, the secret of success and of happiness, and the way out of trouble, and the approach to God, and the salvation of the world, then all of the philosophers and all of the theologians put together have told us. In the world is the passage that you're about to read from God's word. You've read it over and over again. found in the seventh chapter of Matthew. Judge not that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged. And with what measure ye meet, it shall be measured to you again. A child can understand that. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye? but considereth not the beam that is in thine own eye or how wilt thou say to thy brother let me call out the mote out of thine eye behold a beam is in thine own eye thou hypocrite first cast out the beam out of thine own eye And then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the moat out of thy brother's eye. Oh, that's rich. That's the great law, I'll tell you. You know, it's vastly more important than a man. And still more than a child should be taught the meaning of these five verses than that he should learn anything that is taught in schools or in colleges. there is nothing to be found in any of the ordinary courses of study there is nothing to be learned in any library or in any laboratory that is one millionth part as important as the information contained in the word of god that which i just read to you if it were ever possible to justify the fanatical by saying burn the rest of the books For it is all in this one. It would be in reference to the words I've just read. Judge not that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged. And with what measure ye meet, It shall be measured to you again. So simple a child can understand. So simple that the majority of people miss it. We're looking for something profound. We've gotten to the place where we've gotten so analytical. We have to have something that is so complicated we want to analyze it. And if it isn't complicated, we don't want to accept it, you know. And when it comes right down to it, sometimes I think the majority of us are educated beyond our intelligence. And we miss the real fundamentals of life and of living. We need to get back to the simplicity of the word of God. rich man understood for a single moment the meaning of these words and really believed them to be absolute truth, they would immediately revolutionize his whole life from top to bottom, turn his everyday conduct inside out, and so change him that in comparatively a very short space of time his closest friends would hardly. know him. It makes no difference whether he were the prime minister in the cabinet or the man in the street or the sales girl behind the counter or the student in college or the mother of the home or the dad who makes the living. I again repeat that if the average person understood the meaning of these words, put them into action, it would revolutionize his whole life, his thinking. Circumstances around the body. Judge not that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged. And with what measure ye meet, it shall be measured too again. Now, the plain fact is that this is the law of life. Inescapable. As we think and speak and act towards others, so will others think and speak and act towards us. Whatever sort of conduct we give out, inevitably bound to get back. Anything and everything that we do to others will sooner or later be done to us by someone, somewhere. The good that we do to others, we shall receive back in like measure. And the evil that we do to others, in like measure, we shall receive back too. Of course, this does not always mean that the same people whom we treat well are ill. will be the actual ones to return the action. That almost never happens. But what does happen is that at some time, some place, sometimes long afterwards, someone else who knows nothing whatsoever the previous action will nevertheless repay it grain for grain to us. Whatsoever man soweth, that shall he also reap. Or as the old, old saying goes, chickens come home to roost. It goes back again to the fact that a man in reality is a monarch. over a kingdom. And that kingdom is every man's life. You control that kingdom. Just a moment. This may be a new thought to you. You've never really considered it. You control your thoughts. You control your minds. You really control your actions. Man is born with free moral agency. And here's the result. For every unkind word that you speak about another person, an unkind word will be spoken to or about you. For every time that you cheat, you will be cheated. You never really get by. You know, there are a lot of people living today who feel that they're getting by with so much. The man in business feels like he's getting by. The young man, the woman, feels as though he's getting by. We're getting by with so much when it comes to government. We're getting by with so much when it comes to everyday living. And then we'd laugh, you know, and say, ah, the rest of the poker's so stupid. But look what I'm getting by with. My friend, there's a law of God, a written and an unwritten law that no man gets by with a thing. You may feel as though you are. Today, next week. And remember, God does not make full settlement in October. That was something that I heard a gentleman say years and years ago. I wasn't any more than 16 years of age. And he said, you know, I received a letter. from a man who said, I wish, sir, that you would give me an answer to something. And the gentleman of whom I am speaking was at that time the president of the Sunday School Times. I was just a teenager in the audience when I heard him say it, but it made a profound impression on my life. And the letter was written to the president of the Sunday School Times. And this atheist said, you know, I've never served God a day in my life. I'm an atheist. I disregard Sunday. When Sunday comes, I harvest my grain. I plow my field. My neighbor, whose farm joins mine, says he's a Christian. When Sunday comes, his horses rest. He takes his family, goes to church. He wouldn't think of working on Sunday. Pays his tithes. And he said, you know, it's now October. And my grain this year, much better than my neighbor's. I had a far better yield of corn than my neighbor. My silos are filled. My neighbor's crops are not nearly as good as mine. And so he said, sir, what do you have to say about that? And the editor of the Sunday School Times just turned the man's letter over, and this is what he wrote. God does not make full settlement in October. Hmm. Yeah. Every time that you neglect a duty, or evaded responsibility or misused authority over other people. You are doing something for which you'll have to pay by suffering a light injury yourself. It's like that. With what measure ye meet, it shall be measured to you again. Now, is it that obvious? that if only people realized all this as being literally true, it would have the profoundest influence on their conduct. Would not such an understanding do more in practice to decrease crime and raise the general moral standard of the community than all the laws ever passed by parliaments or governments or legislation? You can't force men or women to do this by legislation. Because the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, and who can know it? It's like love. You cannot legislate love when hate is in the heart of an individual. We're spending literally... Billions and billions of dollars trying to eradicate hate. We can't do it. You can't do it. We're trying to legislate love. You can't do it. When love isn't in the heart, you can't force men and women to love. When a man hates his wife, you can go to all the marriage counselors in the world. You can see all the psychiatrists in the world. You can see all the preachers in the world. A million words cannot put love in that heart where love ceases to be. It can't do it. That's the reason I say to you the problem that we're faced with in the world today, in our nation. Only the Lord Jesus Christ is the answer to that problem. Only He can change the heart of mankind. If you really want to know how to live, let's get back again to God's laws, God's principles. The very minute we try to live contrary to God's laws, God's principles, we're going to find ourselves in a mess. We have no answer. We just have no answer when we live contrary to God's teaching and God's laws. And the sooner that you and I get back to the Word of God, when we as a nation get back again to the Word of God and God's teaching, we'll find the answer, not to legislation, but to the power of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
