Not since the early church has there been such excitement regarding the third person of the Trinity. Oh, I believe there was great excitement after the Holy Spirit came. Jesus said he would come. Jesus said, if I go away. the holy spirit will come unto you i will send him unto you and when he came in that upper room when the hundred and twenty were filled with the holy spirit there began an excitement as those precious folks never dreamed was possible Oh, the excitement in that early church. And I can see them as they go out and say, Have ye received the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit? We never dreamed that there was a person like the Holy Spirit. Have you received the Holy Spirit? Why, no one has ever told us about the Holy Spirit. The excitement. The early Christians would go to their neighbors. would go to their friends, would stop up on the street. Have you heard of this wonderful person, this glorious power that's being manifested in our midst? Have you received the Holy Spirit? I repeat, there has never been greater excitement regarding the mighty third person of the Trinity. Never. since he is coming in the upper room. And today, as we're seeing the wonderful manifestation of the Holy Spirit, today is literally hundreds and hundreds are being filled with the Holy Spirit. Today is pouring out of himself upon all flesh. There is an expectancy, an excitement, that the church has never known since its beginning. And how often recently I've heard folk talk about this wonderful new thing. It's new to them. It may be new to you. Because you, too, have never been taught regarding this wonderful third person of Trinity. But remember something. He is not a new person, recently having come upon the horizon. He has been in existence since God the Father, since Jesus Christ the Son. This experience is only new to you. Now, what we need is some good old -fashioned... Teaching from the Word of God regarding this wonderful person. Regarding his personality. Regarding his activities. That is the one thing that has been so lacking in our churches. The teaching regarding this third person of Trinity. Somehow, whenever it has come to the things of the Holy Spirit, the manifestations of the Spirit. The average minister has stayed clear of it. Often when you've asked your pastor regarding this third person of the Trinity, he has probably answered you that it is a mystery and cannot be understood. Yet, when you read the Bible, you'll see that There are three persons in the Trinity. Jesus himself made that very, very clear. Each having a distinct personality. A personality separate and apart from the other two. The personality of Jesus is separate from the personality of God the Father. The personality of the Holy Spirit is separate from that of the Father or the Son. They're all three distinct persons. Everything that I'm going to say regarding this teaching of the Holy Spirit, I will give you scripture for. Therefore, get out your Bible. Don't get it secondhand. Our authority is the Word of God. And you and I need to get back again to the Bible. We're reading and studying everything else under God's heaven except the word of God. God's word is absolute authority. Therefore, turn, if you will, please, to the 14th chapter of John. Jesus himself is speaking of the Holy Spirit. And I will pray the Father. Already, we have two persons. Jesus said, I will pray the Father. We have Jesus Christ the Son, a person separate and apart from the Father. I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter. that he may abide with you forever. Therefore, we see the Comforter, the Holy Spirit. He's spoken of here as the Comforter. And may I stop just a minute? That word Comforter means Strengthener. He is our glorious Strengthener. the Holy Spirit, a personality separate and apart from the Father. But also remember, he never works separate and apart from the Father, but works in conjunction with the Father and with Jesus Christ the Son. Three persons, each with a distinct personality, working in conjunction one with the other, but each with a very definite work. Perhaps I can make this a little clearer to you, and I want to make it just as clear to you as possible, because this is being so misunderstood. I am amazed when some of the questions come in, in the mail. In spite of everything that I've tried to do to teach you, everything that I've tried to say to you, there's still those, and I guess after all, only the Holy Spirit himself can teach you these things. And I'd give anything in the world if right now I could take every one of you who have had such wrong teaching and just turn you upside down and just shake you real hard and shake. All preconceived ideas and notions. Out of your mind. Turn your right side up. And let the Holy Spirit be your teacher. So that you get your theology straight. And when you get it from him. And when you get it directly from the word of God. You can be dead sure. That you will have your theology straight. It isn't something that you read. from out of a book, someone else having been the author. It isn't that you take it secondhand from someone else who knows less about it than perhaps you do. Go directly to the true source. And we need to get back again to the Bible. There is only one throne in heaven. now just one seated upon that throne is god almighty and i always like to think of him as being the big boss god almighty and remember he is exactly that he will continue to be God Almighty forever and ever and ever. Time will never change that. Men will never change that. Nothing will ever change the fact that He's dear. God Almighty. Remember when Moses said, Who shall I say sent me? And he said, tell them. The great I am that I am has sent thee. The beginning to the end. The great creator. The one who has all power. The one all powerful. And he will for... ever remain. God Almighty. This very moment, he is seated upon his throne. At his right hand, serving in a different capacity entirely, is Jesus Christ, the Son. And Jesus Christ holds a position of great high priest, our mediator. your mediator, my mediator, the mediator between man and an absolute holy and powerful God into whose presence no man can come. Know that. except he comes through Jesus Christ, his son. That's the reason Jesus is in position of mediator, of great high priest. The greatest bequest that was ever given to man was given by Jesus before he went away. He said, I'm going away now, but I'm going to leave you. That means you. That means me. His name to use. I have a hearing before the throne of God. You have a hearing before the throne of God. And I do not believe that our poor little puny minds have the ability to conceive power of the absolute perfection of God Almighty. You and I cannot analyze God. It is impossible for us as created beings to have the capacity to analyze God. You can't do it. I know we've come to the day when we're trying to analyze everything. We've even got to the place where we try to bring God down to man's level. We do that about everything. We can accept anything unless we can analyze it. But there's one person and one power you can never analyze, and that's the power and the person of Almighty God. He wouldn't be God if we could analyze Him. He wouldn't be God Almighty. If he were on the level with man. And if man was on the level with God. Watch it. There is a third person. With a very definite personality. And that person is the Holy Spirit. And Jesus said, I will pray the Father. I'll ask the Father. and he will give you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever, even the Spirit of truth. Jesus here, in speaking of the Holy Spirit, calls him the Spirit of truth. There is no falseness in the Holy Spirit, none whatsoever. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth. and the life and he the spirit of truth is the revealer of real truth whom the world cannot receive why because it seeth him not neither knoweth him but ye know him for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you now just what does this mean in the 17th verses of the 14th chapter of john that the world can neither receive nor know him what does it mean because she has no eye for him she has no interest in him the world doesn't have any interest in the holy spirit With all this wonderful excitement that literally thousands are experiencing. In knowing, in becoming acquainted with, in being filled with, in experiencing the power of the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit. Yet, the world has no eye for him. She has no interest in him. In fact, the world just sort of smiles and says, those people have gone off the deep end. They've flipped their top. They've gone off their rocker. But that's exactly what they said about those early Christians in the early church. Just exactly. And yet, the greatest experience of your life outside of having been born again is the wonderful experience in the things of the Spirit. This wonderful experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit. He is with you if you've ever been born again. If you have had that wonderful experience of having been born again, you came in contact with this wonderful third person of Trinity. Like a gentleman in calling me the other day. And he was a Jewish gentleman. And he said, Ms. Coleman, why is it that when... Whenever I think about Jesus and this wonderful experience that I have had with him, I cry. And he said, I'm not emotional. And it isn't something that's emotional. But this wonderful light that has come within me. This glorious experience that I have had in coming face to face with the true Messiah. spiritual experience. Even when I think about it, I weep. And I've never done before in my life. I am not an emotional person. It's coming in contact with one who is very tender. The tenderness of the Holy Spirit. Oh, if only you and I could realize, and you must get very well acquainted with this personality. Sure, you've been filled with the Spirit. You've come in contact with the Spirit. But do you really know the person of the Holy Spirit? So then... And a little later in our heart -to -heart talks, I'm going to show you that he's easily grieved. That's the reason, in the word of God, he's likened unto the gentlest of all birds. A dove. So easily grieved. He is with you. You may never have been filled with the Holy Spirit, but you have been born again. And if you're listening to me, and you've been born again, you have come in contact with the Holy Spirit. And He is with you now. He is the only one who can convict an individual of sin. That's why the greatest tragedy that ever happened to the organized church was when they began to close their minds, their pulpits, their doors to this mighty third person of trinity. Oh, in the early church, he was so well received. They opened their arms to him. They were expecting him. He was welcomed because they had just been in contact with Jesus and Jesus said he was coming and he came. They received him with great expectancy. But you know human nature. Jesus knew human nature. Always, whenever there's the presence of the Holy Spirit, there will be the manifestation of the supernatural. Always. I repeat it. Wherever you find the Holy Spirit, there will always be the supernatural. Whenever you find the manifestations of the Holy Spirit, it will always be the supernatural. And man being what man is and knowing human nature as we do. Soon there were those in the early church who said, let us not have so much demonstration. Let us just be a little more reserved. And slowly but surely, the Holy Spirit was... pushed aside, and after generations, was almost completely pushed out. Today, he is pouring out of himself upon all flesh, for we're about to see the great catching up, the rapture of the church. The Holy Spirit is about to leave. and the church is going out in great glory and all the fruits and the gifts of the spirit are being returned again to his church and again there is the greatest excitement regarding the holy spirit as great as when he first came to the early church.
