The Blessedness of Giving

And tonight I want to share with us and not that system of the kingdom that constitutes an advantage for the believer. Glory to God. I've been dealing with the subject of giving, and I've titled it the blessed Sedness of giving Glory to God. You know, these are not subjects that I would usually want to deal with because of the controversies that surround this subject. Notwithstanding, we have to teach the whole counsel of God. Acts twenty verse twenty seven. Today will be reading a lot of scriptures so that the Bible will speak for itself. Halleluis is there for I have not shown to declare unto you all the counsel of God. So we don't just preach what we think is spiritual. We don't just preach what we think is good. We preach the whole counsel of God. You know, when you are. Teaching on holiness, when you are teaching on prayer, people are excited. They said, this is the genuine man of God. But what we don't know is that there are benefits we receive for working in holiness. There are benefits we receive for walking or living a prayer full life, and there are also benefits we receive for living a life of giving. You can't substitute one for the other. This is why Paul spoke about the whole counsel of God. Hallelujah. There is something that knowledge, and knowledge alone will be the business for you to have in God. There are other things that is prayer that would be the business. There are other things that is character that would be the business. No matter how you pray, prayer cannot make up for what knowledge that should handle. And no matter how much you know, knowledge cannot make. Up for what action should handle. And when I speak action, I speak about character. Glory to God. So it's important for us to know the whole counsel of God, and not just to. Know, but to practice. Second Peter, Chapter one, verse three and four is that according as his divine power had given onto us all things that pertain onto life and godliness through the knowledge of Him that has called us to glory and to virtue. I told you on Sunday. That is the power of God, that is the basis for our assurance and our provision in the Kingdom. And I told you God's destination for the believer is glory and virtue. But the journey from where you are routing the power of God into glory is the function of knowledge. So if you don't have knowledge, although God. In his almightiness has designed for you to live a glorious life, you will never leave it. So you need knowledge. Hallelujah. But you see, knowledge does not function in isolation. When you now have knowledge, you are expected to leave it out praise God. Second Timot Teach at the three verse fifteen to seventeen, the Bible said, and that from a child, he said, now has known the Holy Scripture, which is able to make the wise onto salvation true faith in Christ Jesus. So the knowledge of the Scripture through faith brings you salvation. In order to show you the scope. Of that knowledge, he went for that to verse sixteen, and they all scripture is given by inspiration of God, profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and instruction in right chester. So this is the scope of the knowledge. But he said, this knowledge that brings salvation is only effected when you engage good works. Verse seventeen. He said that the man of God may be perfect thoroughly furnished onto good works. So it's not enough to have the knowledge of scripture that brings salvation. It's as you engage walks, good walks, that that knowledge is effected. Are you following this? So knowledge, plus walks of faith and works of righteousness is what brings you into the fullness of what God has made available. This is why James Chapter one, verse twenty two to twenty five, the apostle James was speaking. He said, but be do us of the world, and not here us. Only deceive in your own self. He there, For if any be a hero of the world, not a doer, he is like onto a man beholding his natural face in a glass. He there for him behold it himself, and go at his way and straight away, forgetting what manner of man he was. Verse twenty five he said, for whoso look into the perfect law of liberty and continued daring, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, He said, this man shall be blessed in his deed. So it is in possessing knowledge and engaging knowledge that you are blessed. So the subject we are dealing with here, or the point I'm trying to communicate here, is that Number one, you must know the whole counsel of God, because every dimension of the council of God advances a dimension of blessing. And then number two, having known the whole counsel of God, you are expected to engage it and to practice it and to leave it so that that which is captured within God's counsel becomes your experience. And so the reason we don't just teach on prayer, on holiness, on salvation, but we also have to teach on giving is because it is part of the whole counsel of God. Now, this subject has been abused, abused largely because some either don't teach it correctly because they lack understanding, or because they have an agenda, or it's been abused because some have taken advantage. Of it to merchandise those who love God. Not we start. We are not going to ignore it because if we ignore it, it will continually be abused. So it's important we teach it and by the help of God, teach it correct or correctly by the help of God. You know, I say knowledge if progressive, as somebody he told me, no, knowledge is absolute. Truth is absolute, But the extent of truth, you know, is progressive. Only God knows the whole truth at all times. The measure of truth that is communicated is in degrees. Are you following? So we are not saying knowledge is not absolute. We are not saying truth is not absolute, but the knowledge accessing it is progressive. Because the batter how much you know, even you will leave this world. We cannot know the full counsel of God in its perfect. And accurate sense because ways a first finding out. That's why every generation comes and asks another layer to what has already been established, where we keep knowing and knowing more. Hallelujah. So we as much as have been. Helped teach this concept, and I'm teaching it, I hope to teach it accurately, not just because I've been well instructed, but also because I want to teach it without ambition. So I'm not teaching tonight to ask you to give. Nobody will give here glory to go, So it's not it's not an attempt to co ask somebody to be moved. Those days when we have been to quite a number of places when they are teaching subjects like this, papor hold their pocket because they don't. When they are don't teaching, they say, stand up what do you have And they will say, ah, you mean a man of faith like you cannot give this little amount of money. I say, so, don't be afraid. Not what is going to ask anybody to give. But this is the whole counsel of God. And you must know it because it has been abused and it has been taught wrongly. You must know the right thing so that you also become a gatekeeper in this dimension of spiritual knowledge. Glory to God. So the first thing is to understand that giving is part of the whole counsel of God. There is no generation of God's dealing with men that giving was not a part of it. Go and read your Bible from Genesis to Revelation. There's no generation. The very first time God began to deal with man, after the fall of Adam, men began to give Genesis chapter four. You're be shocked. In fact, what surprises me with this scripture. Is the fact that God was not even the one that demanded it. And myself, how did these people know that they will impress a skirt by giving sacrificially? How did they know? And you know, the Bible referenced the offering of Abel. Later he said Abel gave a more excellent sacrifice than King. So how did they know that attaining relationship and excellency with the Spirit of God can be routed through sacrificial giving without God asking for it. That means giving is rooted and intimacy. When a man starts knowing God deeply, one of the byproducts of his intimacy is that it becomes generously predisposed towards God. Because it was. Their relationship with God that led them to give. He said, by faith Abel of part onto God a more excellent sacrifice than case. He said, by the witch he obtained weakness. That he was right. He said, God tested find of his gift, and by it he being dead speak The man knew that one of the gate ways to immortality, one of the gate ways to powers in the corridors of God forever and ever, is through sacrificial giving. Who taught him this is part of the ways of the spirit of God? He said it. In the course of time, kin and ever decided to give on to the law. Can you imagine? And there are people today who are arguing, after all the teachings on giving, that is not necessary. Meanwhile, the first man after Adam that started dealing with God began with giving. Does it not suggest you that there's something about this subject? And then take your time find out every dispensation of God's dealing with man. Giving was one of the cardinal things that stood out. You can be relevant with God without having this as part of your life. It's one of the things God looks at. And as I teach, you are going to see the implication of the subject matter. Number two. Giving is a kingdom philosophy. This is what we do. Acts twenty verse thirty five. I said, we read scriptures, Acts twenty thirty five. He said, I have showed you all things. How that's soul laboring. Ye ought to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus. How that is said, it is more blessed to give than to receive. This is kingdom philosophy. This is how we think in this kingdom. So while we are dealing with the subject of giving, this is one of the things that separates the mindset of a kingdom man from a man who is. Not a kingdom man. Because in the word system, the philosophy is get all you can, and can all you get? Does that make sense? You gather everything you have, and when you have gathered it, keep it for yourself and your self illuone. The philosophy of. The work system is selfishness and self centeredness. And if you have studied the subject of seeing, you will discover that seeing and cause majolly on two things. Number one seen and cause on fear. Number two, seen and cause on selfishness. These are the two major foundations of sin. And that's why in God's dealing with man, the two major things that the anchurst is work with man on is faith and love, because what separat men from God primarily is fear and selfishness. So when we're coming to the kingdom, one of the ways selfishness is substituted for self lessness is that God gives us a new ideology that in the kingdom. Outside the kingdom is a different matter. But in the kingdom it's more blessed to give than to receive. Glory to God efficients post when he eight, the Bible said something that made me laugh. It's a lettin that stole still no more. But rather let him label working with his hands, that that which is good, that he may have to give to him that hasn't it If you are a tief. Stop stealing. You're a tief because you selfish man, and because you have no value to offer, Go. And put value in yourself. Engage that value system, and when you gain proceeds from it, give to those who don't. It's a kingdom philosophy. See many don't know it. Listen that people try to match and those people does not mean we show obliterate a reality that defines who we are. We are givers. That's our ideology in the Kingdom. It's on that premise alone that God can entrust the kingdom mandate to us. No selfish person can ever be at the forefront of any agenda, because the moment you think about yourself and yourself alone, you are too narrow minded to hit anything that has an eternal implication or anything that has a global skill. It's impossible glory to God. So giving it's not just part of the whole counsel of God. It is also the ideology of a Kingdom man. One of the ways we know that truly have become a Kingdom person is that your liberality begins to grow, your capacity to. Give begins to grow. Meet any Kingdom person, you will see it. And when I'm talking giving. I'll show you areas where we give. Because most people, when you start talking giving, they think it's church, church church. It's not about church churchill. It's a lifestyle. This is a lifetile kingdom life style we are dealing with. It's not just giving to church. I'll show you the places we have scriptures recommend that we should give. It's not just in church. There are several places and we look at it from scriptures from your parents, to the poor, to widows, to all fans for societal development. Scriptures admonish different areas of giving. But when you find people who keep attacking when you talk about giving, it's because you are challenging their selfishness and they don't want to confront the fact that they are selfish people. Glory to God, hallelujah. I have the liberty to speak because I will ask you to give. So it's kingdom ideology. This is who we are. This is how we think. It's more blessed to give than to receive. Tell yourself, it's not blessed to give than to receive. I am a giver. I don't just receive. I am a giver. You need it, and as I share from scriptures. You see why Jesus. You know when when the Master speaks, pay attention even if you don't understand, believe it. When you understanding begins to increase you. We know, and I will tell you my story how God helps me to grow from one level to another level, to another level. How how how. Crafty I wanted to be with God because we were not born like this. It's encounters and teachings that made us to become like this. Man is naturally selfish. The falling man is selfish. When it becomes liberal, something has happened to him. Glory to God. So it's a kingdom philosophy. And the number three. He defines who we are. That's why we give. Giving defines who we are. It speaks to our very core and nature. So when you find those who give, and when you find God insisting that people should give, and when you find churches teaching the subject of giving is because it is one of the clearest way of evaluating the level of a man's transformation. Giving defines who we are and who we are becoming in Christ. And so there are nine indicators that giving points out to from our nature as men becoming like Christ. Number one is the love nature of Jesus. When a man adopts giving us a philosophy not being coaked to know that it's beginning to grow in the love nature, because it is the nature of God to love, and it is in the nature of love to give. First John for this eight the Bible told us about God's nature. He say here that love that not know what not God is that? For God is love? How does God. Manifest his love? John three sixteen. For God so loved the world. That he gave his only begott and son, that whosoever believe that in him should not perish. But however lasting life. For God so loved the world that he gave, he gave his best. So the way God demonstrates his love is in giving. So when God is telling us it's more blessed to give than to receive, is because giving evaluates our love nature. If we cannot give, it means we are not transfigured in into the love nature of Christ. See, there are many people who are opportunists and opportunistic in nature. When you see them laughing, I'm greeting people bending down, they are receivings onto the moment they can't get what they want, they frown and they become very rebellious as the serpentine nature. And everyone has two natures operating. Him part time. It's either you carry the supentine nature or you carry the God nature. Are you following this? In John eight forty four, Jesus was talking to the Pharisees. They say, you are of your father the devil, they say, and they. Lost of your father shahy do. So when you find people who have the supentine nature, they are ruled by lost, and lost is selfish and self centered. But when you find people who have adopted the God nature, they are ruled by love. And the love nature is a libra and generous nature. So any body that tells you the subject of giving it's not something you should know and practice does not know what is telling you. This is one of. The best in the ketos that show that you have adopted the love nature. Glory to God. The second reason giving is important as touching matters of nature, is that it shows that you have grown to become a man of honor. Because only those who are honor reboot can take the responsibility forgiving. It reveals your nature of honor. In Proverbs, three, verse nine to ten. The Bible says, honor the Lord not just by talking, not just by singing, not just by crying. Oh Lord, I honor you. Good. But that's not the only way God sees honor in a man. Even selfish people can cry, especially when they have need. Look for people who are expecting a miracle or a breakthrough. If you start singing, they will lie down. They honor God. They are looking for a child, they are looking for scoofies, They're looking for promotion the moment he comes. The next time they're worshiping God, you see them clap their hands like gentlemen. Yeah, Father, you know. But when they had need, I need the every hour they're on the floor. So and I'm not accusing those who lie down. I lie down sometimes when the weight of God's glory is heavy on my soul. Don't get me wrong. But the point I'm making here is there are many ways to honor God. Prostrating before him is one of them. Telling him is one of them, Referencing him is one of them. But giving it's also a way to honor the Lord. He say, honor the Lord with your substance and with the first foot of all your increase. Are you seeing this? I'm not dealing with Titan first. Route this for another day. But the focus is what or not the Lord with thy substance. So if you find anybody who gives and gives to the Lord or for the cause of the kingdom, that's not just a man who has the nature of God. That's also a man who honors God. Malachi chapter one, verse eight, see the lamentations of God. He said, And if you offer the blind for sacrifice, he said, is it not evil? Do you see why I told you giving has to do with your nature? So God, use this what you give to study your nature. If you offer the blind for sacrifice, he said, is it not evil? And if you offer the lame and sek he said, is it not evil? He said? Offer it now on to thy governor, he said, Will he be pleased with thee or accept thy person? Said the Lord of hosts? Will he be pleased? So God is telling us you're giving, revise your nature, and you're giving also reveal the level of honor you have, because you don't give the same thing to everybody. Every time you give is a revelation of the level of honor that you have for the one to whom you have given. This is why we teach it, so that people can grow in honor. We teach it so that people can learn not. Just to transfigure to God's nature, but also to be able to vet toward degree they are becoming like God. Number three, why do we emphasize giving? It's an act of worship. Worship is not just a song I've taught you before. Worship is also revealed in our giving. Genesis twenty two, verse five, and then verse ten to twelve. Abraham said to the young man, okay, read from verse one to five. Then you go to west ten to twelve, he said. And it came to pass after these things that God did tempt Abraham and said onto him, Abraham, and he said, behold here I am, and he said, take down thy son, thy only son, Isaac, whom thou lovest. Imagine the way God was emphasizing it. In case it's not mindful of what is giving, let me remind him so that he will feel it. Your son, your only son, the one you love, and God caught him only son, because this is the heir of the promise. You know. Ishmael was there, but. They're talking in context of the one. God has chosen. He said, whom thou. Lovest, and get into the land of Moriah and offer him there for a bond offering upon one of the mountains, which I shall tell thee of I'm not teaching about Isaac now. I'm not teaching about Isaac's offering. But look at the way God sees. I'm trying to help. Us see from God's perspective. And Abraham rose up when ellie, because this. Is his lifestyle he has been taught. He's not something he was struggling with for one month. Abraham rose up early in the morning. He didn't tell Sarah. I guess you know what they are not at the same faith level. If it tells Sarah, Sarah, probably that's so. Just a dish man son, his son. All of them came from your Lord. And God knew. That was why God was specific and said, Isaac, the one you love, I know your heart, I know the love your help or ish man, I know the level of love your help or isaid. Abraham rose up early in the morning Sadu this ask, took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son, and clapped the wood for the bond offering and rose of and went on to the place which God had told him. Are you saying that God is actively involved in this matter? That's why I told you the subject of giving himself begins from intimacy. Those who don't have intimacy with God we never understand it. It was God that told Abraham. In this context, it was God that showed Abraham the place. So when you are telling somebody about giving, they are heavier matters in the subject than the thing he's given. Are you following, Can you come and tell this man that don't give? He says, calm, is God that told him. Is God that showed him the location. He mapped to that location by day. There is an intimacy thing. Praise God, he said. Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place afar. So it was a three days journey from where he was to where he was going. The moment God spoke number one, he moved immediately. Number two. What for three days? It didn't change his mind. Now, when Abraham got to the foot of the mountain, see what Abraham said. And Abraham said onto his young men, abide ye here with the ass I and the Lord will go yonder and worship and come again onto you. So, as far as Abraham was concerned, giving to God was an act of worship. You are the one who thinks donation. Abraham saw it as an act of worship. Superior reasons forgiving. This is why I told you Giving defines who you are. The extend to wish your model God's nature, the extend to wish you onor God, and the depth of your worship for God. I'll already been through giving. Look at Acts of the Apostles, Chapter ten, from verse one to four. This was a man who was not even born again, as it were, but see the understanding he had. There was a certain man in Caesera called Cornelius, a centuron of the band called the Italian Band, a devout man and one that feared God with all his heart, which gave more arms to the people and prayed to God alwis. He saw in a vision, evidently about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming into him and saying, unto him, Cornelius. And when he looked on him, he was afraid and said, what is it? Lord? And he said, unto him. Thy prayers and thy arms had come up for a memorial before God. Thy prayer and thy arms the same weight your prayer commands in God's presence, is the same way your giving commands thy prayer. If you're God. The Revelation five to eight, he said, the prayers of the saints are sent to heaven as others. They are pawed in God invia prayers and memorials before God. He said, thy prayers and thy arms giving ascended to heaven as a memorial. So giving is an act of worship. God remembers it glory to God. So when we teach giving, this is what These are some of the things that matter to us when we teach the subject. Look at Mark twelve forty one to forty four. Jesus was in the church, and people were given, were giving. And Jesus sat over against the treasury and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury, and many that were rich cast in much. See thae what God is se You know it's not the volume God was concerning is the art posture. He said, the rich casting word much. And there came a settin power, and she drew in two minds, which maketh a fatin verse forty three, and he called onto his disciples. He needed them to understand the subject. He called on to his disciples and said on to them, verily, I say unto you that this poor widow had cast more in than all they would cast into the treasury. The rich were giving donations. But see what the widow was doing, he said. For all that all they did cast in of their abundance, he said, but she, of her want did cast in all that she had, even. All her living. So this was a testimony to God. I depend on you only. I'm not making a donation. The rich gave out of the abundance, but this one is telling God you are my own. I depend on you. This is my life. I take it. That's what God saw. And it doesn't mean the rich you don't worship. It's a hard post show. If you give because you are committing it to God as a trust, it becomes an act of worship. And in this very scripture you find a fifth treason forgiving. It's an act of faith. If the woman gave what she had to live on, then she's telling God that I depend on you to self sustain me. It's an act of faith. Everybody who gives like this has faith in God. Abraham gave like this as a lot of worship. It was also an act of faith. This woman giving like this, it is also an act of faith. Look at Hebrews chapter eleven, verse seventeen. You think Abraham just went and threw Isaac on the otter. See what it was contemplating. He said, by faith Abraham, when he was tried, ll fad of Isaac, and he that received the promise all fared of his own begotten song. Next verse of whom it was said that in Isaac shall that see because next verse accounting that God was able to raise him up even from the dead from whence also he received him in a figure. So anybody you see giving all as. An act of worship has an understanding that I cannot give this and God will allow me to be stranded. Abraham gave Isaac the seal of the promise, but he believed that God could raise him my back. So there was a faith connection. That's why I said, by faith, Abraham of bad. So every act of giving is an act of faith. So the reason we insist on the subject of giving is because in it is revealed a deep dimension of faith. Look at he Brews eleven, verse four. Except by faith a bel by what faith Abel offered onto God a. More excellent sacrifice than king by faith a bel offered. So there are certain givings you can't do unless you have it. And if you see the widow and you see Isaac, is a giving that you give all. This is why giving is such an important subject in the kingdom. He reveals the character of the believer, whether he has God's love nature, whether he has honor for God, whether he worships God, whether he believes in God. All of that is revewed in one offering. Is that a subject to under mind you carry out one action. It shows whether you have love nature. It shows whether you honor God. It shows whether you worship God. It shows whether you have faith in God. One action is that a subject that they chote should sweep under the carpet. There are few things. Go and read your Bible and you can debate me on this. There are few things you do in the scripture that can reveal love, honor, faith, worship. There are a few things that you can do that is that rich. Few things in the Bible to show you. How important it is. And it has not finished the least see continuous given reveals your maturity and responsibility in the kingdom. What God can entrust to your care to a very large extent, is revealed by what you can commit to the author. It reveals that you are mature. Acts Chapter four, verse thirty four to thirty six. If you have to be coasked to give, it means your baby. Some people won't like that. If a need that was there any among them that lacked there for as many as were possessors of lambs or houses, sold them and brought the prices of the things that were sold net verse, and laid them down at their apostle's feet, And even distribution was made to everyone according as they had need netverse. And he said, and. Josh Joseph, who by the apostle so named Bannerbas, which is being interpreted the son of Consolation a Levi and of the country of Cyprus, instead having land, so did and brought the money and laid. It at the apostles feet. So they had to itemize this guy's name as an ex example of a world Dechristian. This is an assembly where God was doing miracles, based an assembly where people were praying, but This is one of the things that taught the heart of the apostle so much that this one the reason you find this congregation no body has lack is because of people like this. No preaching, no coacing, no begging. But they had a bodying. They kind of burdying God has. If God has a bodding for those who are in luck, these people have the same body, and they were not waiting God do something what they. Had, they brought it. And because of accountability and the honesty of the apostles, which we don't have nowadays, even distribution was made. And there was none that lacked hope. You know that's a huge prayer answered. If you know how many people have lack in the assembly, you were no the number of people who are troubling God on the daily basinis. I need food, I need cookies, I need all of that. Some people stood up and say, Lord, don't bother about this prayer. We are here, and they took responsibility and there was none. So for their season, there were no people praying Lord, please we need food. Everybody praying say Lord, I love you, Lord, show me the glory. Because people like this were in the company. When you go to pray, tell God you love him. Let's handle the other matter. At these ordinary believers. This is why you must grow in the subject matter Growdutonomy at eighteen. They say you shall remember the Lord like God. It is him that give that the power to get well. Why that you might establish his kingdom, that you might establish his covenants, which is sworen onto thy fathers, as it is this day. So and you find people who are giving, they have responsible mentality that there's a covenant to be established, there is a kingdom. To be advanced. The things that you move. You to give, it's not oh, if you give, you will have back forget those things, O God. There's a level you seek God to. Everything is another is another advantage, it's a byproduct. It's a sick first, the kingdom and it's righteousness. Everything that the gentile sik should be added to you. So there are superiorisy. And I'm not saying blessings. Material blessings are not part of the you know, impact or the effect of giving. But I'm saying there are superiorities. Is why we emphasize this subject. It shows your nature, it shows your honor, it shows your worship, it shows your maturity. It shows your faith. Many people will tell you how can they tell us to be given in this hash economy? Do you stop worshiping in hash economy? Do you stop exercising faith in hash economy? They don't know what the subject is. The thing giving is about the to church. The Bible said in the morning, so diy seid, he said in the evening, with hold not thy hand. You don't know the evil that will come upon the earth. Give a person to savel, give a person to it. This is a system of invincibility. So if it's even impossible to talk about the blessedness of giving, you know why. Because everything that love produces, everything that honor produces, everything that worship produces, everything that faith produces. Are you seeing this all of those things? Giving produces all of them. Because it's an act of faith, it's an act of honor, it's an act of worship. So it's not a subject that can be exhausted. And so when you find Christians who are not taught this subject, they have done them a great disabl Anybody who loves you, if you're coming to this kingdom, if it teaches you about Jesus and salvation, if it teaches you about the value of holiness. If it teaches you about the value of prayer, the next thing he will teach you it's about giving. If you know about Jesus and salvation, you know about holy living. You know about the place of prayer and the world. Trust me. If you don't know about giving, a point may become the condition of your life. May make you wonder whether the other things they taught you are true. Glory to God, blessedness of giving. It reveals our maturity level. Number five, number six. What number we are now? What number? Check you r No, No, we have dealth five, dealth with five, so we are going to six. Number six. He reveals the amount of love that you can communicate, Matthew six twenty one. Amount of law that you can communicate, he said. For where your treasure is, he said, Dear, your heart is also, And I've told you here several times. Crying does not necessarily prove that your heart is with God. You know, I was planning to teach on the subject of the heart today, but earlier, as I was preparing myself, the only girl started talking to me about the subject, so I quickly carried my note. In fact, they were cutting my hair and I was writing. I said, if I don't have this thing, it made vapor rice. In the earlier days, I used to think I know this future.
