I promise 0:02:11.960 --> 0:02:13.639 you will make you feel right at home. But thank 0:02:13.680 --> 0:02:15.960 you so much for tuning in today. And I like 0:02:16.000 --> 0:02:18.160 to get started each week with something kind of funny, 0:02:18.160 --> 0:02:19.080 so listen to this one. 0:02:19.400 --> 0:02:21.359 An elderly preacher was dying. 0:02:21.880 --> 0:02:24.440 He sent word for two of his members, an IRIS 0:02:24.560 --> 0:02:27.160 agent and a lawyer, to come to his house. When 0:02:27.160 --> 0:02:29.720 they arrived, the preacher held out his hands in motion 0:02:29.880 --> 0:02:31.600 for them to sit on each side of the bed. 0:02:32.000 --> 0:02:34.160 The men were very moved to be with the minister 0:02:34.280 --> 0:02:37.760 in his final moments. The lawyer finally asked, Preacher, what. 0:02:37.840 --> 0:02:39.200 Made you choose the two of us. 0:02:39.639 --> 0:02:43.160 The preacher mustered up some strength and said, weekly Jesus 0:02:43.200 --> 0:02:45.440 died between two sinners, and that's how I want to go. 0:02:48.400 --> 0:02:50.880 All right, hold up your bibles, let's say it together. Ready, 0:02:51.400 --> 0:02:54.680 this is my Bible. I am what it says I am. 0:02:55.080 --> 0:02:57.640 I have what it says I have. I can do 0:02:57.760 --> 0:03:00.680 what it says I can do. Today, be taught the 0:03:00.720 --> 0:03:04.760 word of God. I boldly confess. My mind is alert, 0:03:05.120 --> 0:03:08.160 my heart is receptive. I will never be the same. 0:03:08.680 --> 0:03:13.680 I am about to receive the incorruptible, indestructible, ever living 0:03:13.919 --> 0:03:18.600 seed of the Word of God. I'll never be the same, never, never, never, 0:03:19.040 --> 0:03:23.200 I'll never be the same. In Jesus' name, God bless you. 0:03:23.200 --> 0:03:27.160 You sound great as usual. We've been talking about being 0:03:27.200 --> 0:03:30.080 willing to take a risk and not living with the 0:03:30.120 --> 0:03:33.000 play it safe mentality. If we're going to be all 0:03:33.080 --> 0:03:35.360 God's created us to be, we've got to get out 0:03:35.400 --> 0:03:38.480 of our comfort zones and learn to take some steps 0:03:38.480 --> 0:03:38.960 of faith. 0:03:39.720 --> 0:03:41.280 Faith is just like a muscle. 0:03:41.800 --> 0:03:44.760 The only way it grows is when it's stretched, is 0:03:44.800 --> 0:03:48.040 when it's being pushed. And so often we just want 0:03:48.080 --> 0:03:50.920 to stay where it's comfortable and where we've got everything 0:03:51.000 --> 0:03:54.760 figured out. But really, God is not in the comfort business. 0:03:55.320 --> 0:03:57.560 Once you reach a certain level, he may leave you 0:03:57.640 --> 0:04:00.280 there for a little while, but eventually he's going to 0:04:00.360 --> 0:04:01.200 begin to stir you. 0:04:01.680 --> 0:04:03.960 He won't let you get stagnant. 0:04:03.640 --> 0:04:07.600 And he'll bring opportunities across your path, or he'll deal 0:04:07.680 --> 0:04:10.840 with you in certain areas that you need to stretch in. 0:04:11.560 --> 0:04:14.160 Maybe you need to stretch to take that new position 0:04:14.200 --> 0:04:17.640 at work, or maybe you need to stretch in your finances. 0:04:17.760 --> 0:04:19.480 You've gotten stagnant in your giving. 0:04:20.040 --> 0:04:22.760 Some of you need to stretch just to forgive somebody, 0:04:22.880 --> 0:04:26.200 or stretch to have a better attitude. But whatever it is, 0:04:26.480 --> 0:04:29.640 we should always be using our faith. A lot of 0:04:29.680 --> 0:04:31.559 times we think we're gonna get to the place where 0:04:31.760 --> 0:04:34.240 we can just relax and it's easy and I don't 0:04:34.279 --> 0:04:36.240 have to stretch, but that's not how it works. 0:04:36.680 --> 0:04:39.080 You cannot please God without faith. 0:04:39.680 --> 0:04:42.279 You have so much in you, There's so much more 0:04:42.400 --> 0:04:45.560 you can accomplish. God is always going to be giving 0:04:45.600 --> 0:04:49.440 you opportunities to stretch. Some of you today you're kind 0:04:49.440 --> 0:04:53.200 of bored with your life. There's no enthusiasm. You don't 0:04:53.240 --> 0:04:56.400 get up each day with excitement, and it's all because 0:04:56.640 --> 0:05:01.680 you've gotten comfortable. You're not stretching being challenged. And if 0:05:01.720 --> 0:05:04.440 you want to get to that next level and see 0:05:04.480 --> 0:05:07.440 God begin to do the extraordinary, then you've got to 0:05:07.480 --> 0:05:12.320 start sowing some extraordinary seeds. In other words, you've got 0:05:12.360 --> 0:05:15.720 to press beyond the norm. You can't just get up 0:05:15.760 --> 0:05:18.320 and keep doing the same thing the same way day 0:05:18.360 --> 0:05:21.840 after day and expect to get different results. You got 0:05:21.880 --> 0:05:25.200 to get out of your boat and stretch yourself and 0:05:25.320 --> 0:05:27.799 do some things that you may not be used to doing. 0:05:28.120 --> 0:05:31.159 You've got to be willing to take some risk, and 0:05:31.200 --> 0:05:33.680 you need to accept the fact that when you step out, 0:05:34.240 --> 0:05:38.039 everybody may not agree with your decision. Some people may 0:05:38.080 --> 0:05:40.600 criticize you, they may judge you, You may ruffle a 0:05:40.640 --> 0:05:43.640 few feathers, But you're gonna have to ask yourself, am 0:05:43.680 --> 0:05:45.240 I gonna live to please people? 0:05:45.440 --> 0:05:46.919 Or am I gonna live to please God? 0:05:47.680 --> 0:05:50.600 Now I know when the Compact Center became available our 0:05:50.680 --> 0:05:53.960 new facility, I had to step out and do something 0:05:54.000 --> 0:05:58.160 out of the ordinary. I had to press beyond the norm. See, 0:05:58.160 --> 0:06:00.960 my father always told how he didn't feel like he 0:06:01.000 --> 0:06:04.400 should ever move the church from this location, And so 0:06:04.440 --> 0:06:07.840 when we began to grow and we needed a larger auditorium, 0:06:08.120 --> 0:06:10.640 the first thing I did was to look for property 0:06:10.920 --> 0:06:13.800 as close to this place as possible. I thought, Man, 0:06:13.839 --> 0:06:16.440 I'm the new pastor, I'm young, and I'm sure not 0:06:16.440 --> 0:06:18.120 gonna rock the boat. I'm sure not gonn announce that 0:06:18.120 --> 0:06:20.800 we're moving the church. After all, we'd been here at 0:06:20.800 --> 0:06:23.839 that time for some forty three years. But when all 0:06:23.880 --> 0:06:28.000 these other doors for other property just supernaturally closed down, 0:06:28.520 --> 0:06:32.279 the Compact Center came across our path, and I knew 0:06:32.360 --> 0:06:35.039 that God had opened that door I knew down and 0:06:35.080 --> 0:06:37.320 here it was something that we should pursue. 0:06:37.960 --> 0:06:39.520 But I had to make a decision. 0:06:40.040 --> 0:06:42.680 Was I gonna be bold and have the courage to 0:06:42.680 --> 0:06:45.800 do something different, or was I gonna let the fear 0:06:45.839 --> 0:06:48.839 of man, the fear of being criticized, the fear of 0:06:48.839 --> 0:06:51.760 everybody not agreeing to keep me in my boat. 0:06:52.240 --> 0:06:54.599 It'd been very easy to just play it safe and 0:06:54.680 --> 0:06:56.039 stay in my comfort zone. 0:06:56.480 --> 0:06:58.800 I finally decided I was gonna take that step of 0:06:58.800 --> 0:06:59.680 faith and. 0:06:59.600 --> 0:07:01.359 Do what God had put in my heart. 0:07:01.480 --> 0:07:03.800 And the first weekend that I announced it to the church, 0:07:04.000 --> 0:07:07.160 I can probably say that about ninety nine point nine 0:07:07.200 --> 0:07:07.719 percent of the. 0:07:07.720 --> 0:07:09.080 People were totally on board. 0:07:09.200 --> 0:07:12.320 People were excited about it, but there were a few 0:07:12.480 --> 0:07:14.400 that just didn't agree with the decision. 0:07:14.760 --> 0:07:16.800 He said, Joel, you're making a big mistake. 0:07:17.360 --> 0:07:17.640 You know. 0:07:17.800 --> 0:07:20.000 Even your father said he wouldn't move the church, and 0:07:20.000 --> 0:07:22.680 now we're just selling out to go across town. I 0:07:22.720 --> 0:07:25.760 remember one man in particular. He came up to me 0:07:25.960 --> 0:07:29.680 practically every service, month after month, and he told me 0:07:29.720 --> 0:07:32.360 how disappointed he was in me, and what a big 0:07:32.400 --> 0:07:34.840 mistake I was making, and how bad I was gonna 0:07:34.880 --> 0:07:38.320 miss it, and on and on. Finally, after about six months, 0:07:38.360 --> 0:07:40.360 he came to me, I'll never forget it. 0:07:40.520 --> 0:07:42.400 He had this long, serious face. 0:07:42.640 --> 0:07:44.720 He said, Joel, I hate to tell you this, but 0:07:44.840 --> 0:07:47.480 because you're not willing to change your mind, I'm gonna 0:07:47.480 --> 0:07:50.480 have to leave the church. You can imagine how disappointed 0:07:50.520 --> 0:07:54.080 I was. I knew at that point that God still 0:07:54.080 --> 0:07:58.000 answered prayer. I got on on my knees. I said, God, 0:07:58.000 --> 0:08:02.720 you are a good God. But I understand everybody has 0:08:02.720 --> 0:08:04.360 a right to have their own opinion. 0:08:04.360 --> 0:08:07.400 That's fine, but too often we let. 0:08:07.280 --> 0:08:10.240 The fear of what other people are gonna think to 0:08:10.360 --> 0:08:13.040 keep us from trying something new. And some of you today, 0:08:13.080 --> 0:08:16.440 the whole reason you're not stretching into that next level 0:08:16.800 --> 0:08:18.920 is because you just don't want to deal with the criticism. 0:08:19.440 --> 0:08:20.240 You don't want to. 0:08:20.560 --> 0:08:23.400 Ruffle any feathers, and you're worried about what your friends 0:08:23.400 --> 0:08:26.040 and coworkers are gonna think and what Uncle Bob and 0:08:26.080 --> 0:08:28.600 Aunt Susy will say, and so you're just staying in 0:08:28.600 --> 0:08:31.320 the boat where it's safe. But the sad thing about 0:08:31.320 --> 0:08:33.760 that is you will never know what you could have been. 0:08:34.280 --> 0:08:36.439 You will never know how high you could have gone 0:08:36.640 --> 0:08:39.520 unless you press beyond the norm and do what God 0:08:39.559 --> 0:08:42.400 has put in your heart regardless of what the critics 0:08:42.400 --> 0:08:45.000 are going to say. Let me ask you this, twenty 0:08:45.080 --> 0:08:47.720 years from now, are you going to be more disappointed 0:08:47.720 --> 0:08:49.920 by the risks that you did take or by the 0:08:50.040 --> 0:08:52.960 risk that you didn't take. Be bold and have the 0:08:53.000 --> 0:08:56.800 courage to do something different, sow an extraordinary seed and 0:08:56.840 --> 0:09:00.000 press beyond the norm. You've got to learn to stretch 0:09:00.280 --> 0:09:03.360 into that next level of faith, and always remember you're 0:09:03.360 --> 0:09:05.240 never going to get to the place where you arrive. 0:09:05.800 --> 0:09:06.920 I know when we get down to. 0:09:06.880 --> 0:09:09.520 Compact, it'll be easy to think, Man, we've finally made it. 0:09:09.559 --> 0:09:10.480 Now we can relax. 0:09:10.760 --> 0:09:10.920 Now. 0:09:10.960 --> 0:09:12.839 You know as well as I do. God's gonna have 0:09:12.880 --> 0:09:15.600 another area for us to stretch in. He'll bring something 0:09:15.640 --> 0:09:18.280 else across our path. That's what it means to be 0:09:18.320 --> 0:09:21.400 in God's perfect will. You'll be stretched. You won't be 0:09:21.679 --> 0:09:25.400 always real super comfortable. But too many people today they 0:09:25.440 --> 0:09:28.400 just live with that play it safe mentality. They're not 0:09:28.520 --> 0:09:31.240 willing to stretch, and so they stay in their same 0:09:31.320 --> 0:09:35.360 routine day after day. And yes they're comfortable, but they're 0:09:35.400 --> 0:09:39.079 missing out on God's best. Now I've discovered we can 0:09:39.160 --> 0:09:43.360 even get comfortable in disobedience. You can get comfortable with 0:09:43.440 --> 0:09:46.960 bad habits, with bad addictions. You can get comfortable with 0:09:47.120 --> 0:09:50.120 unforgiveness in your heart. We get to the place where 0:09:50.120 --> 0:09:52.200 we say, you know what, I've been this way so long. 0:09:52.440 --> 0:09:55.000 It's just easier to say right where I am. In 0:09:55.040 --> 0:09:57.520 other words, I don't want to have to stretch to 0:09:57.600 --> 0:10:00.280 overcome this addiction. I don't want to have have to 0:10:00.400 --> 0:10:03.080 stretch to forgive that person that hurt me. Or I 0:10:03.080 --> 0:10:05.240 don't want to have to stretch to let go of 0:10:05.240 --> 0:10:07.920 my past. It's too easy to hold onto the pain. 0:10:08.160 --> 0:10:11.000 It's too easy to live in self pity. And see 0:10:11.040 --> 0:10:14.280 when I'm talking about stretching today, Sometimes it takes a 0:10:14.280 --> 0:10:17.800 step of faith just to forgive somebody. Maybe somebody did 0:10:17.840 --> 0:10:21.880 you wrong, walked out of a relationship, something very unfair. Listen, 0:10:21.920 --> 0:10:24.320 you're gonna have to stretch yourself in order to let 0:10:24.320 --> 0:10:27.640 that go. Or maybe you've made some mistakes in life, 0:10:27.679 --> 0:10:30.400 You've made some poor choices, and now you're just sort 0:10:30.400 --> 0:10:33.160 of sitting on the sidelines thinking you're all washed up 0:10:33.200 --> 0:10:35.800 and God could never use you. Listen, you're gonna have 0:10:35.840 --> 0:10:38.760 to take a step of faith in order to forgive yourself. 0:10:39.280 --> 0:10:41.320 You need to get back in the game. God still 0:10:41.360 --> 0:10:43.600 has a good plan for your life. He still has 0:10:43.679 --> 0:10:46.760 something for you to accomplish. And don't make the mistake 0:10:47.000 --> 0:10:50.880 of getting comfortable in mediocrity, and don't let the fear 0:10:50.920 --> 0:10:53.520 of what other people gonna say about you keep you 0:10:53.559 --> 0:10:58.160 from pressing forward. I've learned people will criticize you no 0:10:58.240 --> 0:11:00.520 matter what. You stay in the boat, we'll judge you. 0:11:00.559 --> 0:11:02.000 If you get out of the boat, they're gonna still 0:11:02.040 --> 0:11:04.480 judge you. You might as well step out and do 0:11:04.520 --> 0:11:07.360 what God's put in your heart and let that criticism 0:11:07.400 --> 0:11:10.440 bounce off of you like water off of a dust's back. 0:11:11.520 --> 0:11:14.440 I don't know about you, but I'm not perfect. There's 0:11:14.480 --> 0:11:17.160 some things that I'm probably not doing exactly all right. 0:11:17.200 --> 0:11:20.200 But you know what God sees my heart. Man looks 0:11:20.240 --> 0:11:22.880 on the outside, but God looks on the inside. You 0:11:22.960 --> 0:11:25.360 step out and do what you feel good about, and 0:11:25.400 --> 0:11:27.040 God will take care of your critics. 0:11:27.240 --> 0:11:28.840 God will fight your battles for you. 0:11:29.320 --> 0:11:32.719 For friends, we cannot get comfortable in mediocrity. You got 0:11:32.720 --> 0:11:35.720 to press beyond the norm, learn to take some steps 0:11:35.720 --> 0:11:39.280 of faith and stretch yourself. I think about Moses as 0:11:39.320 --> 0:11:41.840 a young man. He was called to deliver the children 0:11:41.840 --> 0:11:44.160 of Israel. But he got in a hurry and made 0:11:44.160 --> 0:11:46.640 a big mistake and he killed a man, and he 0:11:46.760 --> 0:11:48.920 ended up having to flee to the desert. 0:11:49.440 --> 0:11:50.720 And he lived out. 0:11:50.600 --> 0:11:53.720 There year after year after year, and eventually he got 0:11:53.800 --> 0:11:57.720 comfortable out there. See it's easy to learn to function 0:11:58.120 --> 0:12:03.040 in our dysfunction. You get comfortable with bad attitudes, comfortable 0:12:03.080 --> 0:12:07.719 with bad addictions, comfortable with unforgiveness, with mediocrity, and we 0:12:07.800 --> 0:12:10.760 know deep down in here it's not right, but instead 0:12:10.760 --> 0:12:13.240 of doing something about it, we take the easy way 0:12:13.280 --> 0:12:16.080 out and just learn to live with it. Moses had 0:12:16.080 --> 0:12:18.800 been out there year after year, and once again God 0:12:18.920 --> 0:12:21.920 came to him. You notice the call was still on 0:12:22.000 --> 0:12:24.480 his life. And that's the great thing about God. 0:12:24.520 --> 0:12:25.680 He never gives up on you. 0:12:26.080 --> 0:12:28.680 Does it matter how many mistakes you've made, Does it 0:12:28.720 --> 0:12:31.800 matter how many times you've blown it, God will always 0:12:31.840 --> 0:12:32.800 give you another chance. 0:12:32.800 --> 0:12:34.559 You're never too far gone. 0:12:34.640 --> 0:12:37.320 I believe today God's speaking to some of you about 0:12:37.360 --> 0:12:40.480 areas you need to stretch yourself in and get free 0:12:40.520 --> 0:12:42.600 from the bondages that are holding you back. 0:12:43.240 --> 0:12:45.560 The easy thing is to just accept it. Well, Joel, 0:12:45.600 --> 0:12:46.920 this is just the way I am. 0:12:47.480 --> 0:12:51.200 I've always been a negative person, I've always. 0:12:50.679 --> 0:12:53.640 Had these addictions. That's just the way it's got to be. No, 0:12:53.800 --> 0:12:55.920 that's not the way it's got to be. You can change. 0:12:56.559 --> 0:12:59.960 Don't learn to function in your dysfunction. God has a 0:13:00.080 --> 0:13:02.880 place of victory for you. You got to start taking 0:13:02.920 --> 0:13:05.280 some steps of faith. You got to be willing to 0:13:05.320 --> 0:13:09.120 press beyond the norm. Forty years later, God showed up 0:13:09.360 --> 0:13:12.640 and said to Moses, I want you to go stand before. 0:13:12.360 --> 0:13:15.960 Pharah and you tell him to let my people go. Now. 0:13:16.000 --> 0:13:18.920 Farah was one of the most powerful people of that day, 0:13:19.480 --> 0:13:21.679 and Moses came up with all the reasons why he 0:13:21.720 --> 0:13:24.400 shouldn't do it. He said, God, I can't talk good. 0:13:24.920 --> 0:13:28.040 I'm not eloquent of speech. God, I stutter. You know 0:13:28.120 --> 0:13:29.720 that man is not going to listen to me. You 0:13:29.760 --> 0:13:32.320 might as well get somebody else. And so often we 0:13:32.360 --> 0:13:36.280 do exactly the same thing. God, I can't overcome this addiction. 0:13:36.520 --> 0:13:37.840 You know I've had it too long. 0:13:38.480 --> 0:13:40.600 God, I can't take that new position at work. 0:13:40.640 --> 0:13:43.480 I'm not qualified or God, I can't forgive that man. 0:13:43.600 --> 0:13:44.840 You know how bad he hurt me. 0:13:45.600 --> 0:13:48.000 Now, why don't you quit telling God what you can't 0:13:48.040 --> 0:13:50.439 do and let God tell you what you can do? 0:13:50.720 --> 0:13:52.720 Why don't you quit looking at what you don't have, 0:13:53.000 --> 0:13:55.520 and let's start looking at what God does have. You 0:13:55.559 --> 0:13:59.040 are not a weak, defeated, not able to person. You 0:13:59.160 --> 0:14:01.480 have the power of the most High God on the 0:14:01.480 --> 0:14:04.240 inside of you. And God says you can do all 0:14:04.400 --> 0:14:08.079 things through Christ. That means you can overcome any addiction, 0:14:08.640 --> 0:14:12.800 you can break any bad habit, you can forgive any wrong, you. 0:14:12.720 --> 0:14:14.240 Can accomplish your dreams. 0:14:14.440 --> 0:14:17.920 You are well able to fulfill your destiny. I love 0:14:17.960 --> 0:14:20.960 what God said to Moses. He just kept on complaining 0:14:21.080 --> 0:14:23.280 about his lack of ability and how he wasn't a 0:14:23.280 --> 0:14:26.400 good speaker, And finally God said, Moses, let me ask 0:14:26.400 --> 0:14:27.040 you a question. 0:14:27.280 --> 0:14:28.400 Who made your mouth? 0:14:29.040 --> 0:14:31.800 Who makes the death to hear? Who makes the blind 0:14:31.800 --> 0:14:33.040 to see? Who makes the. 0:14:33.080 --> 0:14:34.840 Dumb to speak? Isn't it me Moses? 0:14:35.240 --> 0:14:38.240 God was saying, in effect, Moses, there's nothing too difficult 0:14:38.280 --> 0:14:40.520 for me. You get out of your comfort zone and 0:14:40.600 --> 0:14:43.120 quit fearing the people, and I'll help you do everything 0:14:43.160 --> 0:14:46.160 I've called you to do. And Moses took that step 0:14:46.200 --> 0:14:49.440 of faith. He got out of his routine. He did 0:14:49.520 --> 0:14:52.440 something out of the ordinary, and God showed up and 0:14:52.480 --> 0:14:56.760 did the extraordinary. But too many people today are comfortable 0:14:56.840 --> 0:15:01.480 in mediocrity. God brings an opportunity across their path, like 0:15:01.560 --> 0:15:04.680 he did for Moses, an opportunity to grow, an opportunity 0:15:04.720 --> 0:15:05.360 to advance. 0:15:05.760 --> 0:15:09.800 But they just have that weak not able to mentality. Joe, 0:15:09.920 --> 0:15:13.080 I can't change. I've been this way forever. 0:15:13.160 --> 0:15:15.520 I can't forgive, I can't let go of my past, 0:15:15.800 --> 0:15:18.400 and they end up staying right where they are. But 0:15:18.480 --> 0:15:22.560 I'm challenging you today to stretch yourself and take a 0:15:22.680 --> 0:15:26.440 step of faith, start doing something out of the ordinary, 0:15:26.840 --> 0:15:28.560 so in uncommon seed. 0:15:29.360 --> 0:15:31.520 Maybe you're here and you really need to forgive somebody. 0:15:31.520 --> 0:15:33.840 You know you're holding onto a grudge, and you think 0:15:33.880 --> 0:15:35.920 I can't do it. I've been this way too long. 0:15:36.320 --> 0:15:39.440 Know what you're really saying is I don't want to change. 0:15:39.600 --> 0:15:42.640 I'm just gonna keep drinking this poison. Hey, you say, Joe, 0:15:42.720 --> 0:15:44.560 you don't know what they did to me. It was 0:15:44.600 --> 0:15:48.160 so unfair, It wasn't right. No, I'm not doubting any 0:15:48.160 --> 0:15:51.040 of that. You may have every reason in the natural 0:15:51.280 --> 0:15:54.160 to live your life angry and bitter on the inside. 0:15:54.400 --> 0:15:57.000 I'm simply asking you to give that to God. He 0:15:57.160 --> 0:16:00.320 will be your vindicator. God will make your wrongs right. 0:16:00.760 --> 0:16:03.200 If you will just dare let that go. God has 0:16:03.280 --> 0:16:06.440 promised he'll take all the unfair things that have happened 0:16:06.480 --> 0:16:08.640 to you and he'll turn it around and use it 0:16:08.640 --> 0:16:09.680 to your advantage. 0:16:09.840 --> 0:16:10.560 But you're gonna have. 0:16:10.560 --> 0:16:13.440 To stretch yourself and take that step of faith and 0:16:13.520 --> 0:16:16.920 be willing to forgive, Otherwise you'll live a very negative 0:16:17.000 --> 0:16:20.320 and bitter life. And some of you today, God wants 0:16:20.360 --> 0:16:23.440 to bring somebody new into your life, but you've been 0:16:23.480 --> 0:16:26.480 so hurt in a relationship in the past you're not 0:16:26.560 --> 0:16:29.400 even willing to step out and try your attitude. 0:16:29.400 --> 0:16:31.360 Man, I've been burned once. I'm not gonna let that 0:16:31.400 --> 0:16:32.000 happen again. 0:16:32.560 --> 0:16:36.600 And unfortunately, just like Moses, you're learning to live with mediocrity. 0:16:37.400 --> 0:16:40.560 Just because somebody did something unfair to you, somebody walked 0:16:40.560 --> 0:16:43.120 out on you, doesn't mean you're supposed to live the 0:16:43.120 --> 0:16:47.000 rest of your life lonely and unfulfilled and defeated. God 0:16:47.080 --> 0:16:49.320 still has a good plan for you. But if you 0:16:49.360 --> 0:16:52.320 don't stay open and you're not willing to stretch yourself 0:16:52.720 --> 0:16:55.520 and get past the fear of being hurt again, then 0:16:55.560 --> 0:16:58.120 you want to experience the great things God has in store. 0:16:58.640 --> 0:17:00.680 And it's so easy for us to get stuck in 0:17:00.720 --> 0:17:02.920 a rug. It's so easy to get up and do 0:17:03.000 --> 0:17:05.920 the same thing the same way every day, not expecting 0:17:05.960 --> 0:17:09.720 anything better, not releasing our faith, not stepping up when 0:17:09.760 --> 0:17:13.919 opportunities come, And that's why we end up being so stagnant. 0:17:14.520 --> 0:17:15.040 I don't know. 0:17:15.440 --> 0:17:17.560 Maybe Moses wouldn't have had to stay out there in 0:17:17.600 --> 0:17:20.160 the wilderness for forty years if he had not gotten 0:17:20.200 --> 0:17:24.280 so comfortable. Maybe God came to him time and time again, 0:17:24.560 --> 0:17:27.119 but he was just too set in his ways. I 0:17:27.160 --> 0:17:29.920 believe most of you in here you know down deep 0:17:30.000 --> 0:17:33.280 what you should do. You know the areas God's talking 0:17:33.280 --> 0:17:37.479 to you about stretching, forgiving, stepping out and taking that 0:17:37.560 --> 0:17:39.840 new position. But you just keep putting it off and 0:17:39.840 --> 0:17:42.880 putting it off. But I'm encouraging you today to make 0:17:42.920 --> 0:17:46.159 some positive changes. Don't stay out year after year in 0:17:46.160 --> 0:17:51.120 the wilderness, unhappy, unfulfilled, bitter on the inside, all because 0:17:51.320 --> 0:17:52.960 you're not willing to do something about it. 0:17:53.480 --> 0:17:54.960 Friends, we've got to stay open. 0:17:55.440 --> 0:17:58.600 If you want to see uncommon, unusual things happen in 0:17:58.600 --> 0:18:01.240 your life, you've got to start so and some uncommon seeds. 0:18:01.800 --> 0:18:01.879 Now. 0:18:01.880 --> 0:18:03.320 I don't know about you, but I don't want to 0:18:03.359 --> 0:18:05.440 get stagnant. I don't want to be at this same 0:18:05.520 --> 0:18:08.160 place next year as I am right now. I want 0:18:08.160 --> 0:18:11.280 to be a bigger giver. I want to forgive people quicker, 0:18:11.280 --> 0:18:13.280 I want to treat people better. I want to have 0:18:13.320 --> 0:18:16.520 a stronger annoying in my life. So I'm gonna make 0:18:16.560 --> 0:18:20.760 sure that I keep stretching myself and pressing into that 0:18:20.880 --> 0:18:24.200 next level of faith. And that's what I'm challenging each 0:18:24.240 --> 0:18:28.040 of you to do today. Start sowing an extraordinary seed. 0:18:28.720 --> 0:18:31.000 Do something out of your normal routine. 0:18:31.680 --> 0:18:32.600 You can't keep. 0:18:32.440 --> 0:18:35.000 Doing the same thing the same way and expect to 0:18:35.040 --> 0:18:38.119 get different results. If you want to see the uncommon 0:18:38.320 --> 0:18:40.879 unusual happen in your life, you got to sew some 0:18:41.040 --> 0:18:42.040 uncommon seeds. 0:18:42.400 --> 0:18:43.760 For instance, if. 0:18:43.600 --> 0:18:46.359 You normally pray ten minutes in the morning, why don't 0:18:46.400 --> 0:18:49.479 you get up a little earlier and start praying fifteen minutes. 0:18:50.000 --> 0:18:53.520 Do something that makes you stretch. If you normally give 0:18:53.640 --> 0:18:56.800 ten percent of your income, why don't you stretch yourself 0:18:56.960 --> 0:18:58.399 and start giving eleven percent. 0:18:58.800 --> 0:19:00.480 Get into that next realm of faith. 0:19:01.000 --> 0:19:02.760 Or maybe you come home at night and you usually 0:19:02.800 --> 0:19:05.359 just watch TV, why don't you turn that off and 0:19:05.400 --> 0:19:09.640 spend that same time with your family sow in extraordinary seed. 0:19:10.760 --> 0:19:12.960 I have a friend of mine that owns his own 0:19:13.040 --> 0:19:15.800 business and things were very slow. He was really struggling 0:19:15.880 --> 0:19:18.600 in it. And over the Christmas holidays, he told all 0:19:18.600 --> 0:19:21.640 of his friends, his coworkers, his family that he didn't 0:19:21.680 --> 0:19:24.440 want any Christmas gifts this year, but he wanted them 0:19:24.480 --> 0:19:27.040 to take the same amount of money that they normally 0:19:27.080 --> 0:19:29.480 spend on him and give it to a children's home 0:19:29.560 --> 0:19:33.480 down in Mexico. He sowed an uncommon seed, and he 0:19:33.560 --> 0:19:36.320 began to see God's favor in a greater way. What 0:19:36.359 --> 0:19:38.840 I'm saying is, do something out of your routine, do 0:19:39.040 --> 0:19:42.359 something that stretches you. Because if you're not putting a 0:19:42.440 --> 0:19:45.640 demand on your faith and you get comfortable, then you're 0:19:45.680 --> 0:19:47.479 just gonna stay right where you are. You're not going 0:19:47.560 --> 0:19:50.000 to grow, you're not going to increase. We want see 0:19:50.040 --> 0:19:53.400 God's favor in blessings like we should, and really that's 0:19:53.480 --> 0:19:56.760 just what the enemy wants. He wants us to be complacent. 0:19:57.320 --> 0:20:00.359 He wants us to be passive where we think, ah, 0:20:00.400 --> 0:20:03.560 this is good enough. I'm not really happy in my marriage, 0:20:03.600 --> 0:20:06.720 but at least we get along. My husband doesn't treat 0:20:06.760 --> 0:20:09.680 me good. He's not affectionate. He doesn't take time for me, 0:20:09.840 --> 0:20:13.040 But I guess that's better than nothing. Now, don't just 0:20:13.119 --> 0:20:15.879 sit back and live that way year after year. Start 0:20:16.000 --> 0:20:18.680 sowing a seed by treating him better than ever. 0:20:19.359 --> 0:20:20.760 If you start treating. 0:20:20.400 --> 0:20:23.720 That man with more respect, with more honor, if you 0:20:23.800 --> 0:20:26.480 go out of your way to be kind, considerate, to 0:20:26.520 --> 0:20:30.440 meet his needs, God will honor that. Your action will 0:20:30.440 --> 0:20:32.840 cause him to treat you in a different way. But 0:20:32.920 --> 0:20:35.840 notice it all starts when you take that first step 0:20:36.080 --> 0:20:37.440 and do something out. 0:20:37.240 --> 0:20:39.120 Of your normal routine. 0:20:39.240 --> 0:20:41.439 Husbands, in the same way, you want to see your 0:20:41.520 --> 0:20:43.840 relationship with your wife go to a whole new level. 0:20:44.000 --> 0:20:46.399 Then start treating that lady better than you've ever treated 0:20:46.440 --> 0:20:46.959 her before. 0:20:47.320 --> 0:20:48.600 Do something out of the norm. 0:20:49.240 --> 0:20:52.600 Take her breakfast in bed in the morning, rub her 0:20:52.640 --> 0:20:53.760 feet at nine. 0:20:53.920 --> 0:20:56.520 Bring her home flowers for no reason at all. 0:20:57.480 --> 0:20:59.560 Well, you say, Joel, that sounds like a waste of 0:20:59.560 --> 0:21:04.280 money to me. But listen, you need to stretch your faith, 0:21:04.320 --> 0:21:05.360 you ow stingy thing. 0:21:07.480 --> 0:21:09.240 Ladies. I said it so you wouldn't have to. 0:21:11.040 --> 0:21:13.080 One time, a few years ago, I mentioned this in 0:21:13.080 --> 0:21:15.560 one of my sermons, and the next morning, bright and early, 0:21:15.600 --> 0:21:18.000 our alarm clock went off and Victoria. 0:21:17.600 --> 0:21:20.040 Sat straight up in bed. I looked over at her. 0:21:19.880 --> 0:21:22.080 And she's smiling real big, and I thought, what's going on. 0:21:22.359 --> 0:21:25.080 She smiled and she said, I like my eggs scrambled. 0:21:29.720 --> 0:21:31.919 I thought I was talking to them, not to you, 0:21:34.040 --> 0:21:35.760 but some of you today. You need to make a 0:21:35.800 --> 0:21:38.280 decision that you're gonna stretch yourself and. 0:21:38.280 --> 0:21:40.919 Just smile more often. Are you gonna. 0:21:40.640 --> 0:21:44.400 Stretch yourself and have a better attitude. You're gonna be kinder, 0:21:44.640 --> 0:21:47.959 You're gonna be more caring. You're gonna wait there at 0:21:47.960 --> 0:21:50.040 the door for ten seconds and hold it open for 0:21:50.080 --> 0:21:52.560 the people behind you instead of just busting on through. 0:21:52.800 --> 0:21:54.600 When you do that, you're sowing a seed. 0:21:54.960 --> 0:21:58.000 And the whole principle of the Bible is what you sew. 0:21:57.960 --> 0:21:58.720 You're gonna rip. 0:21:59.359 --> 0:22:01.600 And if you don't like what you're reaping today, you've 0:22:01.600 --> 0:22:02.960 got to change what you're sewing. 0:22:03.560 --> 0:22:05.840 And I dare you to give up something. 0:22:05.480 --> 0:22:08.679 For God and just see what happens. Instead of always 0:22:08.720 --> 0:22:12.119 praying for your needs, pray for somebody else's needs. Instead 0:22:12.119 --> 0:22:14.600 of going out to eat one night, save that money 0:22:14.720 --> 0:22:17.240 and give it to that friend that's struggling, or instead 0:22:17.240 --> 0:22:20.320 of always being negative and critical toward people. Why don't 0:22:20.320 --> 0:22:22.680 you change your attitude and start seeing the best in them, 0:22:23.040 --> 0:22:25.720 start giving them a little room, start overlooking their faults. 0:22:26.200 --> 0:22:28.920 You'll be amazed at what will happen in your life 0:22:29.000 --> 0:22:31.680 if you will dare just do something out of your 0:22:31.720 --> 0:22:35.119 normal routine that honors God in a greater way. I 0:22:35.200 --> 0:22:38.760 remember something Victorian I did years ago when we first 0:22:38.760 --> 0:22:41.760 got married. Victoria worked at her family's jewelry store here 0:22:41.760 --> 0:22:42.120 in town. 0:22:42.480 --> 0:22:43.959 She'd been there for a long time. 0:22:44.359 --> 0:22:46.640 But as we begin to travel with my father all 0:22:46.680 --> 0:22:49.480 over the world, we got very busy, and eventually she 0:22:49.560 --> 0:22:52.040 had to leave that position. And here we were a 0:22:52.080 --> 0:22:54.680 young couple, and we'd stepped out and bought a town 0:22:54.720 --> 0:22:55.720 home and had. 0:22:55.600 --> 0:22:57.080 Several other obligations. 0:22:57.480 --> 0:23:00.000 But we made a decision early on when she's left 0:23:00.160 --> 0:23:03.080 that position, that we were going to keep giving the 0:23:03.119 --> 0:23:05.639 same amount of money. We decided we were going to 0:23:05.680 --> 0:23:09.560 stretch ourselves and continue to tithe our income, just as 0:23:09.640 --> 0:23:12.680 if she were still working. In other words, we sowed 0:23:12.720 --> 0:23:16.520 an extraordinary seed. We did something out of the norm 0:23:16.640 --> 0:23:19.720 that made us stretch ourselves. And of course it had 0:23:19.760 --> 0:23:22.560 been okay to cut back our giving. Bible talks about 0:23:22.800 --> 0:23:25.680 the tithe is the first ten percent of our income, 0:23:25.960 --> 0:23:28.600 and we could have easily justified it, but we wanted 0:23:28.640 --> 0:23:32.359 to sow an uncommon, unusual seed. And we did that 0:23:32.440 --> 0:23:35.240 month after month, year after year. And I can't even 0:23:35.320 --> 0:23:37.760 begin to tell you in all the ways that God 0:23:37.800 --> 0:23:40.680 blessed us. When we went to sell that town home 0:23:40.720 --> 0:23:43.000 a couple of years later, we sold it for nearly 0:23:43.040 --> 0:23:45.960 twice what we had bought it for. Next piece of property. 0:23:46.000 --> 0:23:47.800 God supernaturally blessed. 0:23:47.560 --> 0:23:48.480 Us on and on. 0:23:48.680 --> 0:23:52.200 All these unusual, uncommon things began to happen to us, 0:23:52.720 --> 0:23:55.520 And I know it was in part because we kept 0:23:55.560 --> 0:23:59.240 stretching ourselves and just sowing those extraordinary seeds. 0:24:00.160 --> 0:24:01.800 Talking about just money. 0:24:01.720 --> 0:24:05.399 You can sow an extraordinary seed of your time. Instead 0:24:05.440 --> 0:24:07.760 of just rushing home from work, Why don't you stop 0:24:07.840 --> 0:24:11.000 by the hospital and visit that friend that's not feeling well, 0:24:11.400 --> 0:24:13.320 Or why don't you go over to that neighbor's house 0:24:13.320 --> 0:24:16.040 it's kind of been down and Moe's lawn for him. 0:24:16.240 --> 0:24:17.679 That's an uncommon seed. 0:24:18.080 --> 0:24:20.840 Instead of just running into the office every morning, won't 0:24:20.840 --> 0:24:23.200 you take five minutes and see how the security guard's 0:24:23.240 --> 0:24:25.679 doing out front, Or why don't you go encourage that 0:24:25.840 --> 0:24:29.240 coworker that's really been struggling. See, you can sow an 0:24:29.280 --> 0:24:33.320 extraordinary seed of time, a seed of kindness, a seat 0:24:33.359 --> 0:24:36.600 of encouragement. When you get out of your routine and 0:24:36.880 --> 0:24:41.080 you start doing the extraordinary, you're putting yourself in a position. 0:24:40.840 --> 0:24:42.640 To receive the extraordinary. 0:24:43.359 --> 0:24:46.080 In the Book of Second Kings, chapter four, there's a 0:24:46.119 --> 0:24:49.280 story about a very poor widow. She's just lost her 0:24:49.400 --> 0:24:52.920 husband and he's left her an incredible debt that she's 0:24:53.000 --> 0:24:55.959 not able to pay, and now the creditors are on 0:24:56.000 --> 0:24:58.920 their way to her home to take her two sons 0:24:59.000 --> 0:25:00.280 as payment for that debt. 0:25:00.320 --> 0:25:02.120 That's what they did back in those days. 0:25:02.440 --> 0:25:05.960 Well, evidently Elisha was a friend of the family because 0:25:06.000 --> 0:25:08.359 he showed up during this time of crisis, and she 0:25:08.480 --> 0:25:11.000 began to tell him the problem and how serious the 0:25:11.080 --> 0:25:14.680 situation was. And Elisha asked her, they're in verse four, 0:25:15.000 --> 0:25:17.840 what do you have in the house? In other words, 0:25:17.840 --> 0:25:20.440 he was saying, do you have anything you can pay 0:25:20.480 --> 0:25:22.639 them back with? Do you have any jewelry, do you 0:25:22.640 --> 0:25:25.920 have any furniture? You have anything at all? She said, no, Elisha, 0:25:26.080 --> 0:25:30.200 all we have is this one pot of oil. He said, okay, 0:25:30.200 --> 0:25:32.040 here's what you need to do. You need to go 0:25:32.160 --> 0:25:36.439 out to all of your neighbors and borrow every empty container, 0:25:36.560 --> 0:25:39.560 every empty vessel that you can find. And so she 0:25:39.640 --> 0:25:41.600 went out door to door and she began to gather 0:25:41.720 --> 0:25:45.560 up all these empty containers. Notice she's doing something out 0:25:45.600 --> 0:25:49.119 of the norm. She's doing something uncommon. She had to 0:25:49.119 --> 0:25:51.919 get out of her comfort zone, don't you know. Some 0:25:51.960 --> 0:25:54.360 of those neighbors ask her, why do you need this? 0:25:54.680 --> 0:25:56.760 You're going to have a big party tonight. What's going on? 0:25:57.200 --> 0:25:59.560 She said, no, I'm just doing what God told me 0:25:59.600 --> 0:26:02.000 to do. I'm sure they looked at her like her 0:26:02.040 --> 0:26:05.160 elevator didn't go all the way up. Has God ever 0:26:05.200 --> 0:26:07.200 asked you to do something that, in the natural doesn't 0:26:07.200 --> 0:26:10.720 make sense, like apologize to somebody even though it wasn't 0:26:10.760 --> 0:26:13.320 your fault, or give somebody some money. Yet you know 0:26:13.440 --> 0:26:16.199 you need it more than they do. Listen, do it anyway. 0:26:16.240 --> 0:26:18.679 God's ways are not our ways. When you sow an 0:26:18.680 --> 0:26:22.520 extraordinary seed, you're going to reap an extraordinary harvest. Well, 0:26:22.560 --> 0:26:25.359 she got these vessels and containers all back to her 0:26:25.440 --> 0:26:26.120 house and. 0:26:26.280 --> 0:26:28.680 She said, okay, Elisha, now what he said. 0:26:28.720 --> 0:26:31.240 Now you need to take the container that you have 0:26:31.680 --> 0:26:35.040 and pour the oil into one of those empty containers. Again, 0:26:35.119 --> 0:26:37.200 it didn't seem to make any sense, but she did 0:26:37.240 --> 0:26:39.800 it anyway. And she noticed once she got the first 0:26:39.800 --> 0:26:43.480 container full, she still had some leftover in her original container, 0:26:43.680 --> 0:26:45.520 and so she poured it into the next one and 0:26:45.560 --> 0:26:47.800 filled it up. And then she did it again and 0:26:47.880 --> 0:26:52.720 again and again. God was supernaturally multiplying the oil as she. 0:26:52.840 --> 0:26:53.480 Was pouring it. 0:26:53.680 --> 0:26:55.280 And when it was all said and done, she had 0:26:55.320 --> 0:26:57.600 every one of those containers full to the top. 0:26:57.960 --> 0:26:59.600 And Elishah said to her in verse. 0:26:59.400 --> 0:27:02.720 Seven, now go sell the oil, and you can pay 0:27:02.760 --> 0:27:03.959 off all of your debts. 0:27:04.080 --> 0:27:06.320 And not only that, you can live off the money 0:27:06.359 --> 0:27:08.119 that's left over. Bringe. 0:27:08.160 --> 0:27:11.320 When you step out and you do the extraordinary, you 0:27:11.400 --> 0:27:12.760 sow an uncommon seed. 0:27:13.040 --> 0:27:14.840 God will meet all your needs in abundance. 0:27:15.040 --> 0:27:17.480 You won't have enough to just barely get by. You 0:27:17.560 --> 0:27:20.919 will have plenty left over as well. So let me 0:27:21.000 --> 0:27:23.879 challenge you again to get out of your routine. Dare 0:27:23.920 --> 0:27:28.760 to step out of that comfort zone, sow some extraordinary seeds. Remember, 0:27:28.800 --> 0:27:31.200 if we keep doing the same thing the same way, 0:27:31.560 --> 0:27:34.880 all we can expect are the same results. Why don't 0:27:34.880 --> 0:27:37.439 you make a decision with me that at least in 0:27:37.600 --> 0:27:41.480 one area of your life, you're gonna do something out 0:27:41.600 --> 0:27:44.640 of your normal routine that honors God. 0:27:44.440 --> 0:27:46.879 In a greater way. I don't know. Maybe you're gonna get. 0:27:46.760 --> 0:27:49.320 Up earlier and spend more time with God. Maybe you're 0:27:49.320 --> 0:27:51.919 gonna forgive somebody that you haven't been willing to forgive. 0:27:52.320 --> 0:27:54.199 Maybe you're gonna have a better attitude, and you're just 0:27:54.200 --> 0:27:56.840 gonna step out in faith. But I challenge you, at 0:27:56.920 --> 0:27:59.800 least in one area for a month or so, you 0:27:59.840 --> 0:28:02.520 do do something out of your normal routine, and you 0:28:02.560 --> 0:28:04.320 see if you're not amazed at what God will do. 0:28:04.680 --> 0:28:06.880 God wants to do more than we can ask or think. 0:28:07.320 --> 0:28:10.440 But I'm convinced we have to give him permission by 0:28:10.480 --> 0:28:13.880 sowing those uncommon sins. So if you'll do your part 0:28:13.920 --> 0:28:17.400 today and press beyond the norm, be willing to take 0:28:17.440 --> 0:28:20.000 a few risks, quit worrying about what people are gonna think. 0:28:20.200 --> 0:28:22.880 If you'll do your part, God do his part, He'll 0:28:22.880 --> 0:28:26.240 bless you in uncommon, unusual ways, and you'll experience the 0:28:26.320 --> 0:28:27.920 victories that He has in story. 0:28:27.920 --> 0:28:29.600 Amen, do you receive that today? 0:28:31.520 --> 0:28:34.200 Well?
