Jacob wanted his father's 0:11:35.200 --> 0:11:39.400 blessing so badly he deceived his father into giving it 0:11:39.440 --> 0:11:43.760 to him instead of his older brother Esau. In those days, 0:11:44.120 --> 0:11:48.840 the firstborn son received a double portion. Isaac, the father 0:11:49.120 --> 0:11:51.800 was way up there in years and nearly blind, and 0:11:51.840 --> 0:11:56.480 so Jacob pretended to be Esau and the father Isaac. 0:11:56.640 --> 0:12:01.320 He spoke the blessing of the firstborn son him. In 0:12:01.360 --> 0:12:04.120 a few minutes, Esau came in and said, Dad, I'm 0:12:04.160 --> 0:12:07.520 ready for my blessing. When Isaac realized that he had 0:12:07.520 --> 0:12:11.480 been deceived, he was heartbroken. Esau said, that's okay, Dad, 0:12:11.800 --> 0:12:15.600 just give me the blessing. Anyway, Isaac said something very 0:12:15.600 --> 0:12:19.679 significant Genesis twenty seven, verse thirty three. He said, in 0:12:19.679 --> 0:12:23.599 in fact, no, Esau, I have already spoken the blessing, 0:12:24.200 --> 0:12:27.800 and I cannot take it back. Jacob will be blessed. 0:12:28.679 --> 0:12:32.760 Notice how powerful the blessing was. Once those words of 0:12:32.960 --> 0:12:37.000 favor and increase were spoken over Jacob, they could not 0:12:37.160 --> 0:12:41.559 be stopped.
