and so delighted to have Hal Lindsey as my guest again today. I tell you very frankly, I could sit for hours talking with this man. I just love it. We have so much in common. I'd rather talk about the things of God. than to do anything else in the whole world. I'm delighted to have you as my guest. You're most interesting. We have so much in common. The greatest thing in the world, God's Word. And you're so scriptural. You know, sometimes I feel that I've stood alone so long, so many years on some of these things. And then when I find somebody like you, to whom God has given this wonderful interpretation, I think, my word, how does he know the same things that I know, you know? One thing is sure, Al, I'm going to stay with it and see this thing through to the end. And we're so near the end, we're going to see it through, believe me. We've been talking about the Book of the Bible prophecy and... Nations being lined up and the things that are happening. But God has also given a warning over and over again whenever the Word of God speaks of this hour in which we are living. The closing moments of this dispensation. This, the time of the end of the Gentiles. He warns us of this great deception. You know, this is why I've... written another book. I'm almost finished with it. What are you going to call it? Another crazy title. Satan is alive and well on planet Earth. And don't underestimate the power of Satan. Well, after starting to write this a year and a half ago, I certainly don't underestimate it anymore. I found out he really was alive and well. But you know, I have seen for some time a peculiar phenomenon taking place on the college campus. I've been speaking on campuses in Canada, the United States, and Mexico for the last 12 years. And up until about 1968, the academic community and the world at large was what you might call rationalistic. They didn't accept the possibility of extrasensory things, perception in this area. And then along around 1968, there was a tremendous turnaround, almost without explanation. the students began to dabble in witchcraft and the occult. Even professors began to experiment with ESP, and the respectable name nowadays is parapsychology. And I understand that the inventor of the Xerox copier, Chester Carlson, donated millions of dollars to the parapsychology department at Duke University because, according to an account I read in a newspaper, Some time ago, he got his idea for the Xerox copier from a spirit that spoke to him while he was in his laboratory. And from the description, I don't believe it was the spirit of God. But we find today as we go around and we see the activity going on in the youth culture, a tremendous turning toward experimentation and the occult and witchcraft. And we find a tremendous explosion. of people turning to Satan worship. And this is just not the lunatic fringe. We find that there are people who are experimenting with how to know the future. A tremendous increase in astrology. A number of people who claim to be modern -day prophets. And indeed, they have predicted some things that have come true. And it's going to be a very popular theme. Oh, indeed. And few people are speaking out against it. That's right. Because few people understand. Well, I believe that this is all just another part of this whole prophetic picture. Because Jesus warned us in the 24th chapter of Matthew as he talked about a progression of general signs. And he said these would be like birth pangs. They would become more frequent and more intense, just as birth pangs. And he said there would be such things as wars and rumors of wars. Well, we've always had war. But the idea of the birth pang makes it understandable. They would become more frequent and more severe. He said there would be great earthquakes. I just read a scientific treatise on this which showed that earthquakes in the last decade have increased so phenomenally over all records of the past that it's without scientific explanation. Well, Jesus said this would just be one of the many signs. And then he said that there would be great famines. Now, you know, I've read so many articles about the population explosion and the danger of the air pollution and all of this. But I have read accounts where scientists say it's a mathematical certainty that the greatest famines in the history of the world will begin somewhere around 1975. In fact, they call it the age of famines. Well, all of these things are a buildup toward the end, toward the climactic events that will lead to the greatest event of all, of course, and that's the snatching out of all of those who believe in Jesus before the great tribulation of the seven years, and then Christ comes back to the earth to recycle the earth, as I like to say. He's given us all of these warnings. Really, any thinking man, any thinking woman, any human being with an open mind. Can't miss it. It's there. But you know, I have been increasingly apprehensive in my spirit for those who know Jesus Christ. Because Jesus warned in the 24th verse of the 24th chapter of Matthew. He said, For false messiahs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. Now, I believe that we're seeing real miracles happening today in the power of Satan. I believe that Bishop Pike, for instance, really made contact with a real spiritual being when he talks about contacting Paul Tillich and his son in seances. And Reverend Arthur Ford, who is now dead, he and Bishop Pike on a... nationwide television program actually made contact in a seance with spirits from beyond. There are many incidences among the youth culture with which I'm familiar, which can only be explained as the working of spiritual powers. I've seen among the Jesus people, those who seem to have gifts that the Holy Spirit gives, which I believe he gives today. They have had experiences which they thought was speaking in tongues. I believe there is a genuine, but I believe there's also a counterfeit. Always, wherever there is a genuine, I don't care what it is, wherever there's a genuine, there's always a counterfeit. Even when the great world leader comes, who in reality... will be Satan incarnate, a counterfeit of Jesus Christ. We must always remember that. I think that's the reason that the Bible warns us of great deception. And let's talk about these young people for just a second, Hal, because you deal with them. I deal with them. Just love them. I think they all know how crazy I am about them. I just think they're wonderful. And we recognize the fact that this is the last youth's generation before the rapture of the church. And God is pouring out of His Spirit upon them. Not only a few. Nobody's going to stop it because this is something of God. This is the movement of the Holy Spirit. This is God's mercy upon them. But they do not realize that there is also a counterfeit in the movement. Anything that denies the deity and divinity of Jesus Christ, anything that leaves out the blood of the Son of the Living God, because it's the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul, anything that disregards the supernatural resurrection of Jesus Christ is not Christian. That's true. It's just the opposite. It's the wrong spirit. If only we could teach these young people. Well, you know, I spoke to one of the leading psychics of our day. And this person has a phenomenal record of predictions. But the one thing that troubled me is that in the books that this person has written, the atonement is left out. That is, she has not clearly made... the issue that we must believe in the fact that Christ died for our sins to be saved in this book, and this made it suspect to me. But this person has made a number of remarkable predictions, but she's also missed on a number. And according to the Bible, if a prophet is a prophet of God, he cannot miss. In Deuteronomy chapter 18, Moses, who was the first great writing prophet, laid down the test of a true prophet of God. He said, when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing comes to pass, this is the word which the Lord has spoken. But if it does not come to pass, then in Israel they stone them to death. Well, there are many prophets today who make astounding predictions, but they are not 100 % accurate. And I've heard them say, well, some of the plans have been. And some are the revelations of God, but no prophet of God could ever hedge his bet like that. The Holy Spirit is always right. Always right. Always. The thing that I feel so strongly about today is that we're warned that in the last days, Satan would be permitted to come in with miracles. In the book of Thessalonians, it says that there would be a great period where Satan would be allowed to work signs and wonders. and uh all of this in the power of satan so every miracle that we see is not necessarily of god we have to come back to the book we have to carefully examine and i believe the acid test is what you said whether they believe in the deity of christ and whether they believe in the truth of the gospel and not just that christ died for our sins but it's faith in that alone Let's say. And in his supernatural resurrection. There's your final poop. Let's get back to Satan. Not that I enjoy talking about him because I never talk. I seldom, let's say it like that. I seldom speak of Satan because I guess I just dislike him so much. I don't want to give him that much glory. But we must face the fact that there is a Satan. There is a devil. And never underestimate his power. And there is only one power that is greater than Satan's power, and that's the power of God. When you realize the knowledge that he has, he knows Jesus, the Son of God, better than either one of us. He knows the Bible better than us. He knows the Bible. Hell, Lindsay, that is one thing that people must understand. Satan knows the Word of God. He knows the Bible. He can quote the Word of God. He can quote it better than either one of us. That's why I feel so very definitely that especially the young people, and those no matter what age, but they're young in Christ, need to be warned not to open themselves up to the spiritual world and turn off their minds, because we're warned to try the spirits to see if they be of God. And I believe that Satan, through his army of demons, can counterfeit our experiences with the Spirit. But we must test these by the Scripture. Is this experience leading me to Christ and a devotion to Him? Is it leading me to take the whole Word of God, or am I leaving some out? And I just believe this is the warning that we need today. I'm so glad you're writing this new book. I think it's so needed. What are you going to call it? Satan is alive and well on planet Earth. We both know he's very much alive. How do we get through? How do we get across to not only the young people, but older folk alike? Well, you know, I find that most of the young people today really believe that Satan's alive. I've talked to young people who were on LSD and had been on heroin, and they all testified that they had seen the devil on trips. And many of them had been so frightened that that's what started them to look for Christ, because they saw the reality of the devil. It's a strange phenomena. But the thing that I'm teaching now, and I have a school with some other men called the Jesus Christ Light and Power Company next to UCLA, and we're teaching them in depth in the scripture. But we're seeking to teach above all that though Satan is real and he's powerful, that Jesus Christ has all power in heaven and earth, and that every person who has believed in him is in union with him, and we share his authority. And in the name of Jesus, Satan has to bow. We can command that authority today. We can speak with authority, and we can conquer in that name. Genuine and the counterfeit sometimes are so close. There's such a thin line between the two. Satan will even acknowledge the deity of Jesus when he stood face to face with Jesus. He even acknowledged that he was the Son of God. Yes, he did. But it's another thing to accept him in the forgiveness of our sins and having the indwelling Christ within us. This warning needs to be gotten out. The Bible said, be not deceived, be not deceived. This great deception. and is creeping into our churches, not only in our youth movements, in our churches. It's really amazing how much deception there is abroad in the church today because in the old line churches, they deny the existence of Satan, and he loves that disguise. When people don't believe he exists, he can have a field day. I believe that we're entering a period when people have to admit and wake up. I was reading an article in the L .A. Times just last week where it says that the Church of England is now conducting courses in exorcism. And I'd like to quote. It says, The need for the restoration of the practice of exorcism to its proper place is becoming steadily more urgent and more evident, wrote the Most Reverend Robert Mortimer. In his report of a 10 -year unofficial study, the church knows little about the occult today, even though more Britons are turning toward black magic as their interest in traditional religion declines. And I thought that that was a very unusual departure for the Church of England because traditionally they, of late, just left Satan completely out of their thinking. Yes, I mean. I'm going to stick with the Word. And so am I. I'm going to stick. If it isn't in the Word, if it isn't in the Bible, I'm just not going to accept it. If ever there was a time when you needed to get back to the Word, the Bible, you'll never be led astray. I promise you. We promise you today. You'll never be led astray if you stay with the Word. This comes from the highest authority in heaven and earth. If it isn't in the Word, don't accept it. Don't add to. Don't take from. I'm staking my very life. I'm staking everything I have on the Word. His Word. These are exciting days. These are important days. These are trying days. These are days of sifting. Be sure, my friend, that you know Him, the very Son of the Living God. Be sure. very sure that his spirit bears witness with your spirit. He will never lead you astray.
