Salvation is a Gift! Kathryn Kuhlman
Kathryn KuhlmanAbout this sermon
Kathryn Kuhlman tells the story of a woman who mistakenly thought she needed to work for her salvation. Kathryn explained that salvation is a gift! Kathryn quotes Romans 10:9-10 is says: "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." This show has helped me to become more like Jesus and I am sure it can do the same for you. The podcast never has any AI and rarely has music or commentary. I give a short introduction sometimes but Kathryn's talks are unchanged. Take care and God bless.

It was Tuesday, and I shall tell you this without betraying confidence. In the service, just about ten minutes before the service was dismissed, Tuesday evening, A gentleman, a very fine gentleman, a businessman with a marvelous position from Chicago, and his wife arrived at the service. As you know, on Tuesday nights, the service began at 6 o 'clock. And they came just about a quarter of 8, thinking perhaps that the service would begin the usual time, you know, the church service at 8 o 'clock. But we were getting ready to dismiss the service, and they were so disappointed. And they got hold of one of the workers and said, We're so disappointed. We have driven all the way from Chicago for one purpose. We want to talk with Miss Grunin. And the gentleman continued by saying, We have a son in the ministry. He gave the name of his son. The son is the pastor of a very large church on the west coast. And he said, I am a Christian. In fact, I had propped the Bible for a number of years. But my wife here, all of these years, has never had the assurance of her salvation. She'd been a marvelous mother. But the thing that constantly preys upon her mind is the fact that she has never, never had the assurance of her salvation. She doesn't know whether or not she's ever been born again. And because of our position, we can't tell anyone else. We've come to you. Because the fact that we had this son. who is a well -known pastor. Because of my position, having taught the Bible for years, what would the public think if here my wife, my son's mother, is hounded with the thoughts that she does not know whether or not she's been born again. And we've driven all the way from Chicago just to ask Miss Kuhlman to have a heart -to -heart talk with her. Now, the first thing that one would think was the fact that the woman was waiting for some kind of feeling. She was waiting for something to happen to her. That would be the very first thing. Or one would think it would be unbelief. on her part. The workers said, why don't you wait until Friday? Stay for the miracle service. They did. They remained in Pittsburgh for the miracle service. They were in the miracle service. I knew why I was waiting to talk with the woman. I was waiting until the close of the miracle service. when the same Holy Spirit who had worked through the vessel in the healing of sick bodies would also give me the wisdom in telling the woman what to do and put my finger on the cause of her trouble. Immediately following that miracle service Friday, the woman came back. And as I looked into her face, the Holy Spirit, in his great wisdom, in his perfect knowledge, revealed to me the exact cause of the woman's problem. It was not unbelief. There was absolutely no unbelief whatsoever in that heart. Any answer to her problem that I might have given a natural would not have been the correct answer. For as I stood there, the Holy Spirit revealed the cause of the woman's problem. I said to her, You believe? She never spoke a word, not one. You do believe? There is faith there. But do you want to know something? You are a woman that all of your life have depended on your hands to do the work. You have been very dependent upon your own strength, your own ability. You've done everything. Ever since you were a child. You did everything yourself. You have waited upon your husband. Hand and foot, you've done everything. When the children were born, you asked nothing of anyone. You have done for your family. Everything that was done, you did yourself. You're a marvelous mother. You're a wonderful wife. You're a perfect housekeeper. clean you're a wonderful cook you have done everything everything yourself dependent upon no one now when it has come to this thing of salvation it's something the first that you have ever coped with that you can't do yourself and with your own hands. You are dependent on the Lord for the whole thing. It's one thing that you come face to face with that Jesus has done for you and that you can't do for yourself. She looked at me. She said, will you please go out and tell my husband the thing that you've just now told me because she said you are exactly right. Exactly. She said, how did you know? You've never seen me before. You've never met me. You don't know who I am. And yet, she said, every word that you've spoken has been the truth. We walked out. Her husband was standing there waiting. And even before I spoke, the little jacket that she had in her hand dropped from her hand. And before her husband even had a chance to stoop down and pick it up, she quickly reached down and picked it up. I said, that's it. That's what I'm talking about. You have done everything for yourself. Now what you need to do is to realize that Jesus does it for you. He paid the price on Calvary. You can't save yourself. Jesus died on the cross. He did it all. He was the one who gave his life. He was the one who made atonement for your sins. And all on earth that you have to do is to just accept it. It's so... Simple. You've missed the whole thing. It's been hard work for you all of your life. That's all that you've known. But now you come face to face with something that is so simple. You've missed it. I said, wonderful Jesus. Just now, may your spirit bear witness with her spirit. She's passed from death unto life. In that moment, the power of God came upon her body. in a beautiful experience. A few seconds later, she turned and said, How will I know that my sins are forgiven? I said, Just this second. You have had a greater manifestation of God's power for your salvation and your conversion than tens of thousands of thousands of saints who are in glory right now. With the power of God having come upon your body in just that moment, there are thousands of saints in heaven this very hour who never even had that much of a manifestation of God's power to them. Perhaps this very moment, somebody else Has that same problem. Oh, that woman left that service thrilled. And I think her husband was just as happy. They said it's worth making the trip all the way from Chicago just for this glorious experience. You, too, may be waiting for some manifestation. Watch. Jesus speaking to the little woman at the well. said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldst have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. If thou knewest the gift, You don't work for a gift. A gift comes out of the heart of love. Jesus wants to give you the gift just now. Reach out, receive it, and then praise him for the gift and the price that was paid with his own shed blood for that gift, which... is yours now. And remember something. He is more willing to give you that gift than you are to receive it. Oh, if you could only realize his willingness. The one. who loved you enough to offer himself through the Holy Spirit to be given of God the Father, that you might have life eternal. Loving you that much is waiting for you to accept his love. gift of salvation now. It's a transaction, a personal transaction between the individual and Jesus Christ. If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Is there anything more simple than that? You're concerned about a hundred other things, but you... Better be concerned about this one most important thing of all. You'd better neglect anything else than to neglect the salvation of your soul. Better neglect your business. Better to neglect your health. Better neglect... Anything than to neglect the getting of salvation. God has given it to us. Just now. Alone in that room. Do something that you've been wanting to do. But you've been neglecting. to do it for so long. Slip to your knees and say, Jesus, you and I are going to have a transaction between the two of us. Just now, I accept the pardon. This very moment. I accept by faith that which was done for me on the cross of Calvary. Now. Just now. I receive that gift of salvation. Then, beloved, knowing that he has received you, that it's yours, begin praising him. Talk about feeling. You'll have more feeling than... You know what to do with. But your salvation is not based on mere feeling, but on facts. Just now, I pray that your spirit shall bear witness with their spirit. They pass from death unto life. For Jesus' sake we ask it. Amen.
