PREPARING FOR TEMPTATION

Holy Loui yah, all right, let us pray Father. Today we asked that you come into our mist Come because we are needy, Come because we are desperate. We asked that you show us mercy, stretch forth your hand to do your will amongst us, and take all the glory in Jesus' mighty name. Please you maybe see that God bless him. All right, turn with me to the book of Matthew chapter four, Matthew chapter four. Are you there? In Matthew four? Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had firsted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward and hungered. And when the attempt came to him, he said, if that'll be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, it is written, man shall not leave by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God. I believe that will be enough reading for tonight. Ali lujah. The first question we need to ask is why was it necessary for Jesus to be tempted. That's the first question. Second question is what exactly constitutes a temptation. What exactly constitutes a temptation? Now, I like to begin by explaining a few things, and I trust that God will help us ultimately in the name of Jesus Christ. It's necessary for us to understand. What happened to us when. We became captured, trapped in the fall of man. Are you there? For instance, if you are tired and you feel like taking a nap, there is a way your body speaks to you, and you understand that your body is saying, I need rest. If you are testy and you need a drink, there is a way your body speaks to you and gives you an idea of the fact that the only thing that can quench this feeling, this communication that a body is making available to you is a drink. What makes you human is that you have human desires, you have human instincts. So hunger is an expression of a desire tirst. It is an expression of a desire tiredness. And there are lots and loads of desires that constitute the description of human life. Unfortunately, for us, what happened to us on the account of the fall of man is that our desires, our instincts as humans sustain a possibility of becoming. A lost Are you there? Now? Temptation is at the level of lost. All temptation is occasioned by the flesh. And I'm going to attempt. To bring some very simple illustrations and definitions to aid our understanding. Of this matter. Now, I mean want to introduce. Another scripture just to consolidate the introduction, and then we'll go into the subject matter. If you're still with me, say a man. James chapter one, verse fourteen and fifteen. James Chapter one, Vest. Fourteen and fifteen. But every man, okay? Can we go to James Chapter one, verse thirteen, say, let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God, for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempted he any man. Are you there? Then? In Vest. Fourteen he gives us an understanding of what a temptation is. First of all, according to Vesse fourteen, temptation is idiosyncratic. Temptation is articular to you. So what constitutes a temptation to you may not be a temptation to me. But any time a temptation is found, there are some factors. That must be present. Say, every man is. Tempted when he's drawn away of his own lost and entireed. Now, so these are the features of a temptation. First of all, there must be a personal lost. And you know I told you that something qualifies to be called a lost. It is legitimate when it's still a desire, but it goes into the territory, it enters into the boundary that attracts the interests of Satan. The moment becomes a loss is a desire that has gone. Beyond its boundary. Stay with me, I want to teach this weekend. Okay. A lost is a desire that has gone beyond its boundary. A lost is a desire that has become illegitimate to seek because it is not within the confines of the principles of righteousness and the loss of God. So a loss is a desire that is sustained outside of the description of God's law. So you will need to break God's law in. Order for you to satisfy the desire that is sustained in the lost. So number one, we have in a temptation. The ingredients that make up a temptation. Number One, there is a loss. True, we need to understand that this lost is not a national loss, is not a community lost. This lost is a personal loss. So temptation is within the context. Of personal life, not communual life or community experience. Thirdly, Thirdly, when Setan steps into the terrain, he uses this loss as a means of control. So Setan uses it as a means of drawing you away. So when we check, you know, my teacher, my mentor this is he told me. If you want to. To compromise the objective of God's grace that possibility exists with a lost. Now the lost is yours, but all set and does for. It to become a temptation is that entices you along the lines of the lost. You incubated the lost, you conceived the loss, you protected the lost, you sustained all certain deed to make it an object that can draw you away is that it came and he enticed you. Now. Enticement is one of the activities of demons. You know with me the other day when I was teaching about demons, I revealed several things that demons do. And demands are highly intelligent beings that lack bodies. They are peasins without bodies, so it demands have had to understand the most. And demands are highly intelligent beans that within lack posible of your pessins without they can be the one communicating them to actually and you think you are the one thinking a discussion with you. So temptation becomes a very powerful strategy in the hands of the devil in manipulating the focus of believers and giving them another reason to adventure outside of the scope of your collague. I want you to know how powerful. A temptation is. A temptation does not deprive you of your doctorate degree. Your brain is still at work, you are still alive. You are it's not as if you're on the anesthesia. No, you are good. You are still sharp. But yet the moment that. Lost comes, it engages in the emotion. And when your emotion is engaged, you are no longer capable of straight balanced thinking. I don't know if you have award overly, award overly by the emotion. When the emotion comes, is destabilizes the soul, and. It deprives you of. Subjecting issues through the normal taught protocol. That would have become a defense for you. So the plane in which temptation takes place have voluings the scrutiny and. The analysis of your mind. To the end that it provokes your will to make a choice that you did not process. Oh you're not here. Now, I'm just trying to build just a simple foundation before we begin this matter, because by the time we go to Jesus, you will discover Jesus it was hundred percent goal, hundred percent man. You just wake up to see that they've taken out what they wanted to take out, and what is left is what you can see. That's not how temptations you are lack. You are weak, you are aware, but yet. Your defense protocols are bypassed. You become a victim on something that you are wiser than. You have enough education, you have enough experience to know that this is not the way to go. But there's a spirit element in it. That's why all of the defenses that you have within the scope of your experience and the use of your mind, they fall like a pack of cards. All of that was with the use of the. Infrastructure of your spiritual senses and architecture, all to draw you away. As long as the Truth is standing side by side you, there is a possibility for you to awake from your slumberd But he draws you away from where the voice Truth can speak to you. So that issolects you on an island where he has ultimate ability to manipulate your fortunes. That's how terrible temptation is. Now the question is this, why did Jesus need to be tempted? Because if we check the Book of Matthew chapter one, sorry, chapter. Four, verst one, you realize that they need for. Temptation was locasioned after Jesus was baptized in the Holy Spirit. So a lot of people came around John. The Baptist baptism and received blessings. Some confessed their sins, some had the encounters on the account of the fact that they confessed their sins to God. Many things happened, and people had testimonies. But the reason why John was baptizing was not so that. People could be blessed. The reason for his baptism was that it. Was a strategy given to him through which the Messiah would be identified. I still doing. I don't want to read too many scriptures so that we don't get lost in talking. There's an objective for my talking. I can take you to the. Book of First John, chapter five, and I'm going to show you from there that there were three means through which the real Jesus could. Be identified three means. For the Bible reveals that there were three that bore witness in the heavens, and there were three that bow witness in the Earth. So when something comes from heaven and or something goes to Heaven and Heaven wants to test it, there are three ways Heaven can test that thing for authenticity. The bloody question? Now? And I don't have time to take you to Genesis to show you the first time human blood touched the ground what it did, and when jesus Is blood touched the ground what he did. Because the first human blood that touched the ground, he was innocent. But this blow that touched the ground, that blost heath quick. He was righteous, the blood of righteous man, and an unbeliever identified it. If a student of the law, you will know that righteousness was not capable under the structure of the law. Another way to identify who Jesus was worth by water, And that was where John the Baptist now comes in. John the Baptist baptized so many people in the in the rivers of Jordan before Jesus came.
