He was 0:25:18.040 --> 0:25:20.560 in the prime of his career, when all of a 0:25:20.600 --> 0:25:26.920 sudden he got very sick. Hezekiah's mentor was the prophet Isaiah. 0:25:27.080 --> 0:25:29.600 He came to the palace and said, Hezekiah, I have 0:25:29.680 --> 0:25:33.359 a word from the Lord for you. God says, set 0:25:33.400 --> 0:25:37.360 your house in order, for you shall surely die. He 0:25:37.400 --> 0:25:41.480 pronounced a death sentence over Hezekiah. Up to that point, 0:25:41.920 --> 0:25:45.200 all of Isaiah's prophecies had come true. He had approven 0:25:45.280 --> 0:25:48.760 track record. Isaiah turned around and began to walk out 0:25:48.760 --> 0:25:52.240 of the palace, and Hezekiah began to pray, and he 0:25:52.320 --> 0:25:55.680 asked God to give him more years. He reminded God 0:25:55.720 --> 0:25:58.120 of all the good things he had done, and how 0:25:58.119 --> 0:26:00.960 he'd gotten rid of the idols, how it encouraged the 0:26:01.000 --> 0:26:01.840 people to worship. 0:26:01.920 --> 0:26:02.440 On and on. 0:26:02.720 --> 0:26:05.879 He was pleading his case, but Isaiah just kept on 0:26:06.040 --> 0:26:06.680 walking out. 0:26:07.320 --> 0:26:08.320 Nothing had changed. 0:26:08.760 --> 0:26:12.919 Hezekiah said, God, I deserve more years. I've done my best, 0:26:12.960 --> 0:26:17.520 I've lived with integrity, but Isaiah just kept on walking. Finally, 0:26:17.560 --> 0:26:21.720 Hezekiah decided to try a different approach. Instead of telling 0:26:21.760 --> 0:26:25.400 God how good he was and enlisting all of his accomplishments, 0:26:25.840 --> 0:26:28.960 he began to give God praise. He began to thank 0:26:29.000 --> 0:26:31.320 God for who he was and thank God for what 0:26:31.400 --> 0:26:35.399 he had done. Hezekiah made the statement, God, the grave 0:26:35.800 --> 0:26:37.080 cannot give you praise. 0:26:37.720 --> 0:26:40.800 At that very moment, Isaiah stopped in his tracks.
