About this sermon

Potential is realized in pieces. In “Piece It Together,” Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church shows how God reveals purpose one step at a time, and teaches us to stop fixating on what feels missing so we can see the big picture He’s been building through every piece. We're in week 0:00:19.600 --> 0:00:23.160 two of a series called Unqualified. How God uses broken 0:00:23.200 --> 0:00:25.360 people to do big things. Turn to your neighbor and say, 0:00:25.360 --> 0:00:29.160 I think he wrote this one for you. This sounds 0:00:29.280 --> 0:00:34.440 like something you need to hear. They asked him for 0:00:40.840 --> 0:00:44.360 a sign from heaven. He sighed deeply and said, why 0:00:44.400 --> 0:00:47.239 does this generation ask for a sign? Truly, I tell 0:00:47.280 --> 0:00:49.440 you no sign will be given to it. And then 0:00:49.479 --> 0:00:51.760 he left them, got back into the boat and crossed 0:00:51.760 --> 0:00:53.880 to the other side. And I almost didn't even mention 0:00:54.000 --> 0:00:58.120 those verses, but they're so important as I put this 0:00:58.240 --> 0:01:00.480 sermon together that I wanted to catch them before we 0:01:00.520 --> 0:01:02.120 got to fourteen through twenty one. 0:01:02.600 --> 0:01:05.280 But here's the heart of the message. 0:01:05.319 --> 0:01:08.360 The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one 0:01:08.400 --> 0:01:11.319 loaf they had with them in the boat. Be careful, 0:01:11.440 --> 0:01:13.440 Jesus war and then watch out for the yeast of 0:01:13.480 --> 0:01:17.080 the Pharisees and that of Herod. Look up right, the 0:01:17.080 --> 0:01:20.280 disciples are They discussed this with one another and said, 0:01:20.640 --> 0:01:24.839 because we have no bread. Aware of their discussion, Jesus 0:01:24.880 --> 0:01:26.720 asked them, why are you talking about having no bread? 0:01:26.760 --> 0:01:31.440 Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? 0:01:32.280 --> 0:01:34.479 Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears 0:01:34.520 --> 0:01:35.319 but failed to hear? 0:01:35.480 --> 0:01:37.360 And don't you remember. 0:01:38.480 --> 0:01:40.679 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, 0:01:40.760 --> 0:01:43.200 how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up? 0:01:44.640 --> 0:01:46.000 Twelve, they replied. 0:01:48.040 --> 0:01:50.560 And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, 0:01:50.600 --> 0:01:55.440 how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up? They answered? Soothing, 0:01:57.320 --> 0:02:00.120 And he said to them, do you still not under 0:02:01.360 --> 0:02:04.720 when I broke the lows? How many basketfuls of pieces 0:02:04.720 --> 0:02:09.240 did you pick up? Don't you remember the pieces? I 0:02:09.280 --> 0:02:12.480 want to speak today from this subject? Piece it together, 0:02:13.840 --> 0:02:17.120 Piece it together, And on your way down to your seat, 0:02:17.160 --> 0:02:20.080 ask your neighbor do you still not get it? You 0:02:20.120 --> 0:02:27.600 still not get it? You may be seated. God has 0:02:27.639 --> 0:02:29.560 a calling for your life, but you're going to have 0:02:29.639 --> 0:02:33.840 to piece it together. And my main reaction to the 0:02:33.840 --> 0:02:38.040 text is essentially one of disbelief that the disciples could 0:02:38.040 --> 0:02:40.600 have seen all that they saw and still not see 0:02:40.600 --> 0:02:44.200 what was right before their very eyes. I mean, don't 0:02:44.240 --> 0:02:49.239 you get it. There's not really a there's not really 0:02:49.280 --> 0:02:51.239 an excuse. I don't want to come to their defense 0:02:52.320 --> 0:02:55.000 that they're sitting in the boat with the one who 0:02:55.160 --> 0:02:59.720 just performed two massive miracles and they're still worried about 0:03:00.760 --> 0:03:06.680 missing pieces. Apparently somebody didn't do their job, and so 0:03:06.800 --> 0:03:09.440 there's no lunch for the disciples. So Jesus is teaching 0:03:09.480 --> 0:03:11.600 a lesson to the disciples that he's trying to take 0:03:11.639 --> 0:03:14.880 them to the next level of their awareness and understanding 0:03:15.360 --> 0:03:18.079 of who he is, what he came to do. As 0:03:18.120 --> 0:03:22.520 he does it, he uses an analogy comparing yeast, which 0:03:22.560 --> 0:03:26.240 is the self righteousness of the Pharisees who he just left, 0:03:26.919 --> 0:03:29.760 comparing that self righteousness to the yeast that is in 0:03:30.520 --> 0:03:33.799 the bread, and how if you allow yourself to get 0:03:33.800 --> 0:03:36.000 a little self righteous, it's just a matter of time 0:03:36.840 --> 0:03:39.000 before it takes over every area of your life and 0:03:40.560 --> 0:03:45.440 well all they hear is bread, and so immediately they 0:03:45.480 --> 0:03:48.400 start to argue. Some scholars would say that the verse 0:03:48.520 --> 0:03:52.400 is actually incorrectly translated in English. Instead of saying it 0:03:52.440 --> 0:03:55.240 is because we have no bread, they were saying something 0:03:55.680 --> 0:03:58.840 more like, why don't we have any bread? Like Peter 0:03:59.600 --> 0:04:03.880 Andrew whose job was it to bring the bread? But 0:04:03.920 --> 0:04:07.800 regardless of the construction of the question in coin a Greek, 0:04:08.520 --> 0:04:10.520 I think we can all relate to the premise that 0:04:10.840 --> 0:04:15.560 life is largely about recognition. And I'm realizing more and 0:04:15.600 --> 0:04:18.800 more of the importance of recognition in my day to 0:04:18.880 --> 0:04:24.360 day life. Recognition, recognition of what is right before you. 0:04:24.400 --> 0:04:26.599 Often and when we read the text, it's easy for 0:04:26.720 --> 0:04:30.279 us to almost see the comedy in it that Jesus 0:04:30.360 --> 0:04:32.760 was trying to talk to them about the yeast of 0:04:32.800 --> 0:04:39.599 self righteousness and they're thinking about wheat and raw and pumpernickel. 0:04:39.680 --> 0:04:45.960 But it's really it's really not fair for us to 0:04:46.040 --> 0:04:49.279 do that, because, well, we have a benefit that the 0:04:49.279 --> 0:04:53.240 disciples didn't have. For one, they did not know that 0:04:53.680 --> 0:04:56.080 they were the main characters in Mark chapter eight, verses 0:04:56.120 --> 0:04:59.880 fourteen through twenty one. You do realize that when people 0:04:59.880 --> 0:05:02.960 were writing the Bible and where people were doing the 0:05:03.000 --> 0:05:04.719 things that were written about in the Bible. They didn't 0:05:04.720 --> 0:05:07.520 know they were gonna end up in the Bible. Okay, 0:05:07.520 --> 0:05:09.000 so they weren't thinking, boy, this is going to be 0:05:09.080 --> 0:05:12.240 a cool story that they're going to preach about an 0:05:12.240 --> 0:05:16.080 elevation church in twenty sixteen. And we see a little 0:05:16.120 --> 0:05:19.040 differently because we're looking back on it. Have you noticed 0:05:19.040 --> 0:05:24.720 how many things look different when you're looking back on them, 0:05:24.839 --> 0:05:28.159 and how difficult it is to see some things while 0:05:28.160 --> 0:05:32.360 you're going through that you can see clearly when you're 0:05:32.400 --> 0:05:35.880 looking back. Talk to me, this is why it is 0:05:35.920 --> 0:05:38.440 so easy for you to give advice to a teenager. 0:05:38.480 --> 0:05:41.159 But it was hard for you to be one. You 0:05:41.320 --> 0:05:44.680 sucked when you were one. But now that you have one, 0:05:45.160 --> 0:05:47.440 you can tell them what the big picture. That's the 0:05:47.440 --> 0:05:51.839 other benefit we have. The disciples were inside the frame. 0:05:52.000 --> 0:05:55.039 Is kind of hard to see the big picture when 0:05:55.040 --> 0:05:58.039 you're in the frame. So it's easy for you to 0:05:58.080 --> 0:05:59.720 see what they should have seen when you're not going 0:05:59.760 --> 0:06:02.200 through what they were going through because they were worried 0:06:02.200 --> 0:06:04.120 about lunch, and a lot of times in our lives, 0:06:04.120 --> 0:06:08.479 I think we don't recognize the big picture because we 0:06:08.600 --> 0:06:15.640 experience life in pieces to groups are contrasted in the scripture, 0:06:17.320 --> 0:06:20.960 and Jesus direction here is an indication for us of 0:06:21.040 --> 0:06:24.240 the kind of team he is choosing. We could go 0:06:24.320 --> 0:06:28.080 back to the beginning of the Gospel record and find 0:06:28.520 --> 0:06:33.279 Jesus piecing together his team, which even that to me, 0:06:33.960 --> 0:06:35.840 says a lot about the way that God works in 0:06:35.880 --> 0:06:39.800 our lives. Is that when God sent Jesus into the 0:06:39.800 --> 0:06:43.720 world to save the world for a purpose, he didn't 0:06:43.760 --> 0:06:48.240 send him with a pre assembled team to accomplish the plan. 0:06:49.600 --> 0:06:53.400 We trained church leaders here over the last week and 0:06:53.680 --> 0:06:56.120 many of them will ask this question, or a form 0:06:56.160 --> 0:06:58.800 of it, where do you get your team? That makes 0:06:58.800 --> 0:07:02.080 me laugh because you think there's a warehouse, because you 0:07:02.160 --> 0:07:05.279 think there's a build a team store. You think you 0:07:05.360 --> 0:07:08.719 can walk in and assemble the perfect team, or even better, 0:07:08.960 --> 0:07:11.400 you think that God's going to give you everything that 0:07:11.440 --> 0:07:13.560 you need all at once. When he calls you to 0:07:13.600 --> 0:07:16.160 do something but touch somebody say you got to build it. 0:07:17.120 --> 0:07:19.160 You got to build it. And Jesus was piecing together 0:07:19.200 --> 0:07:21.760 as team, and he picked this guy and that guy. 0:07:21.760 --> 0:07:24.200 But what's funny to me about it is he's moving 0:07:24.240 --> 0:07:27.320 away from the team that you would have thought he 0:07:27.400 --> 0:07:30.520 would have selected for an important mission. That's the Pharisees. 0:07:30.560 --> 0:07:33.239 They were one of three Jewish groups. Their name literally 0:07:33.280 --> 0:07:37.240 means set apart or separate ones. And not only had 0:07:37.240 --> 0:07:39.840 they separated themselves from others, but in the process, they 0:07:39.840 --> 0:07:43.440 had separated themselves from God. They were so focused on 0:07:43.520 --> 0:07:46.480 a few extreme points of the law that they had 0:07:46.520 --> 0:07:50.280 missed the big picture, to do justice, to love, mercy, 0:07:50.560 --> 0:07:53.160 to walk humbly with your God. But they had become 0:07:53.240 --> 0:07:57.480 so focused on the individual laws and requirements and rules 0:07:58.360 --> 0:08:02.520 that they had missed the big picture. The Bible says 0:08:02.520 --> 0:08:06.440 that they tried to qualify Jesus, the nerve, the audacity 0:08:06.920 --> 0:08:10.160 for the creature, to attempt to qualify the creator. Who 0:08:10.160 --> 0:08:12.640 in the world do you think you are? When you 0:08:12.720 --> 0:08:15.160 tell somebody they're not good enough to be a Christian, 0:08:15.440 --> 0:08:18.040 when you tell somebody that if they were a real Christian, 0:08:18.120 --> 0:08:20.840 they would when you tell somebody to get this in 0:08:20.960 --> 0:08:22.800 order and that in order, and then you can be 0:08:22.920 --> 0:08:25.960 in my church. So Jesus moves away from all of that, 0:08:26.160 --> 0:08:30.360 this perfection, this picture of perfection that they were trying 0:08:30.480 --> 0:08:33.080 to present, and he moves forward into his mission. And 0:08:33.120 --> 0:08:37.199 he's well into his mission now and he's using broken people. 0:08:37.320 --> 0:08:39.400 In case you don't believe that they're broken, Let's just 0:08:39.640 --> 0:08:42.840 talk about them a little bit. I pulled something up 0:08:43.200 --> 0:08:45.920 that it was pretty funny to me. It said, if 0:08:46.000 --> 0:08:52.720 Jesus had hired a management consultant firm to choose his team, 0:08:52.760 --> 0:08:55.280 how would they have evaluated these guys that were in 0:08:55.320 --> 0:08:59.360 the boat? And I want to read to you just 0:08:59.440 --> 0:09:04.360 a hype of medical memorandum from the Jordan Management Consultant group. 0:09:05.400 --> 0:09:09.200 I found this online and it was written to Jesus 0:09:09.880 --> 0:09:13.640 and it says, dear Sir, thank you for submitting the 0:09:13.679 --> 0:09:16.760 resumes of the twelve men you have picked for management 0:09:16.800 --> 0:09:22.000 positions in your new organization. All of them have now 0:09:22.040 --> 0:09:26.560 taken our battery of tests. We have not only run 0:09:26.600 --> 0:09:30.120 the results through our computer, but also arranged personal interviews 0:09:30.160 --> 0:09:34.560 for each of them with our psychologist and vocational aptitude consultant. 0:09:36.040 --> 0:09:38.520 It is the staff opinion that most of your nominees 0:09:38.559 --> 0:09:43.680 are lacking in background education and vocational aptitude for the 0:09:43.720 --> 0:09:47.600 type of enterprise you are undertaking. They do not have 0:09:47.640 --> 0:09:52.319 the team concept. We would recommend that you continue your 0:09:52.400 --> 0:09:59.839 search for persons of experience in managerial ability and proven capability. 0:10:00.600 --> 0:10:05.240 Simon Peter is emotionally unstable and given to fits of temper. 0:10:07.120 --> 0:10:12.080 Andrew has absolutely no qualities of leadership. The brothers James 0:10:12.080 --> 0:10:14.880 and John, the sons of Zebedee, place personal interest above 0:10:14.920 --> 0:10:19.360 company loyalty. Thomas demonstrates a questioning attitude that would tend 0:10:19.400 --> 0:10:23.240 to undermine morale. We feel that it is our duty 0:10:23.280 --> 0:10:25.360 to tell you that Matthew has been blacklisted by the 0:10:25.360 --> 0:10:29.199 Greater Jerusalem Better Business Bureau. James, the son of Alpheus, 0:10:29.240 --> 0:10:32.440 and Daddius definitely have radical leanings, and they both registered 0:10:32.440 --> 0:10:35.319 a high score on the Manic Depressive scale. One of 0:10:35.400 --> 0:10:41.079 the candidates, however, shows great potential. He is a man 0:10:41.120 --> 0:10:46.320 of ability and resourcefulness, meets people well, has a keen 0:10:46.440 --> 0:10:50.120 business mind, and has contacts in high places. He is 0:10:50.960 --> 0:10:57.400 highly motivated, ambitious and responsible. We recommend Judas Iscariot as 0:10:57.440 --> 0:11:02.240 your controller and right hand man. All of the other 0:11:02.320 --> 0:11:07.840 profiles are self explanatory. All that just to ask, aren't 0:11:07.880 --> 0:11:15.320 you glad that God doesn't pick people like people pick people? 0:11:17.320 --> 0:11:20.240 This is only for the people who believe that you 0:11:20.280 --> 0:11:23.000 don't deserve a spot on the team, but you're glad 0:11:23.000 --> 0:11:25.800 you got one anyway. This is only for the people 0:11:26.480 --> 0:11:30.160 who are familiar with your weaknesses, and you know deep 0:11:30.200 --> 0:11:32.280 down that you know that, you know that, you know that, 0:11:32.400 --> 0:11:35.880 you know that if God didn't look beyond your faults 0:11:35.880 --> 0:11:38.640 and see your needs, you wouldn't even have a seat 0:11:38.679 --> 0:11:42.440 in the church auditorium. But you got here by the 0:11:42.480 --> 0:11:49.880 grace of God because he saw your potential. If you're 0:11:49.920 --> 0:11:52.119 bold enough look at your neighbors, say I got potential, 0:11:53.240 --> 0:11:58.600 I got potential, I got potential. See Jesus wants Jesus 0:11:58.600 --> 0:12:01.880 wants his disciples to seat the potential. And I found 0:12:01.920 --> 0:12:05.280 out that a lot of people are so quick to 0:12:05.440 --> 0:12:12.760 recognize what's missing that they miss what's possible. Can I 0:12:12.800 --> 0:12:16.640 break this down? Can I? Can? I? Can? I because 0:12:16.640 --> 0:12:18.400 I really want to, because I really want to show 0:12:18.400 --> 0:12:20.280 you what I study, because I really wanted to show 0:12:20.280 --> 0:12:22.080 you that they're talking about bread. But Jesus said, I 0:12:22.120 --> 0:12:24.000 am the bread of life. You don't need to worry 0:12:24.040 --> 0:12:26.280 about who forgot about the bread. I am the bread. 0:12:26.400 --> 0:12:28.560 If I'm in the boat, you're gonna have all you need. 0:12:28.600 --> 0:12:31.600 I am your potential. I am your possibility, I am 0:12:31.640 --> 0:12:33.440 your future, I am your hope. 0:12:33.679 --> 0:12:39.160 I am the bread of life. 0:12:40.920 --> 0:12:43.960 But it's possible that you have become so familiar with 0:12:44.000 --> 0:12:48.840 your weaknesses that you can no longer see your potential. 0:12:50.880 --> 0:12:53.320 In many ways, you see what you choose to see. 0:12:54.559 --> 0:12:58.360 You see what you choose to see. It was about 0:12:58.360 --> 0:13:01.400 two thousand and four when I speaking at a youth 0:13:01.440 --> 0:13:04.319 camp and Holly told me, after one of the sessions 0:13:04.600 --> 0:13:07.720 on a Wednesday night at the youth camp, it's time. 0:13:09.200 --> 0:13:12.480 It's time to start the church that God put in 0:13:12.480 --> 0:13:16.800 your heart when you were sixteen. Is time. She could 0:13:16.840 --> 0:13:21.959 see that God had given us some people that were 0:13:22.000 --> 0:13:25.320 in our lives for a purpose, and she said, it's time. 0:13:26.800 --> 0:13:29.080 She could see it. I wasn't so quick to see it, 0:13:29.120 --> 0:13:32.880 because all I could see was what I didn't have. 0:13:33.600 --> 0:13:39.360 Where's the bread? We got me money? I'm twenty five. 0:13:42.320 --> 0:13:46.400 That's all I can see. She saw what was possible. 0:13:47.679 --> 0:13:51.480 I saw what was missing. You see what you choose 0:13:51.520 --> 0:13:54.800 to see. Many ways, you see what you want to see. 0:13:55.640 --> 0:13:58.520 You see what you've trained your eyes to see. All 0:13:58.559 --> 0:14:02.160 they could see was no bread, But they missed the 0:14:02.160 --> 0:14:06.480 one who was the source of their life. And it 0:14:06.559 --> 0:14:08.560 happens all the time. It happens when they told the 0:14:08.559 --> 0:14:11.679 Beatles they had no future as a band. It happened 0:14:11.720 --> 0:14:16.200 when they told Walt Disney he lacked imagination all the time. See, 0:14:16.240 --> 0:14:18.600 you can't trust just anybody to be your talent scout. 0:14:20.160 --> 0:14:22.880 Let me say that another way. You can't trust yourself 0:14:22.920 --> 0:14:26.920 to be your talent scout because you're too familiar with 0:14:26.960 --> 0:14:30.840 your trouble to see your talent. Where's my bread? And 0:14:30.880 --> 0:14:32.120 you're missing what's. 0:14:32.000 --> 0:14:33.600 Right in front of you. 0:14:33.600 --> 0:14:38.800 You can't even recognize your potential. See, potential is realized 0:14:38.880 --> 0:14:42.200 in pieces. You're never gonna wake up one day and 0:14:42.240 --> 0:14:45.760 feel like, well, now I've got what it takes. I 0:14:45.760 --> 0:14:50.440 feel like I've crossed over the readiness line if you 0:14:50.440 --> 0:14:52.080 do wake up and feel that one day. I haven't 0:14:52.080 --> 0:14:53.960 had that day yet, and I'm looking forward to that day. 0:14:54.600 --> 0:14:56.640 And maybe I'll revise a sermon when the day comes. 0:14:56.680 --> 0:14:58.400 But as up to this point, I've been pastor in 0:14:58.440 --> 0:15:01.080 ten years, and I never felt ready. I've never felt ready. 0:15:01.200 --> 0:15:03.200 I've never felt ready. This might scare you, but I've 0:15:03.240 --> 0:15:09.800 never felt ready to preach. I mean, I just I 0:15:09.920 --> 0:15:11.880 just gotta go. I reckon this. You know it says 0:15:11.920 --> 0:15:14.080 about eleven fifty three. I don't think Chris has any 0:15:14.080 --> 0:15:16.040 more songs playing. Better get up there and do it. 0:15:17.520 --> 0:15:21.040 I'm prepared, but I'm not ready, never gonna feel ready. 0:15:21.480 --> 0:15:23.760 You're never gonna feel ready. I want to tell you 0:15:23.800 --> 0:15:25.960 what I tell Holly when she says, I need five 0:15:26.000 --> 0:15:28.040 more minutes. Baby, you gotta get ready on the way, 0:15:29.080 --> 0:15:31.160 because if I wait for you to get ready for 0:15:31.280 --> 0:15:32.800 us to leave, we're never gonna get there. 0:15:33.520 --> 0:15:34.360 So get your makeup. 0:15:34.440 --> 0:15:36.600 I'll drive. You can get ready on the way. Touch 0:15:36.640 --> 0:15:42.080 three people say get ready on the way. I know 0:15:42.160 --> 0:15:44.960 they didn't feel ready. I know they didn't look ready. 0:15:47.000 --> 0:15:50.920 In two thousand and nine, there was a basketball player 0:15:50.920 --> 0:15:56.560 who wanted to play in the NBA and I found 0:15:56.600 --> 0:16:02.080 an article about his pre draft scouting report. And this 0:16:02.280 --> 0:16:08.840 was a scouting report on his perceived weaknesses. There's a phrase, 0:16:09.080 --> 0:16:13.440 perceived weaknesses. His perceived weaknesses through the eyes of a 0:16:13.480 --> 0:16:15.800 former NBA coach. Listen to what they said about him. 0:16:15.800 --> 0:16:19.720 There's fifteen of them. I'll share them all. Not a 0:16:19.760 --> 0:16:25.320 true point guard, out of control at times, shot selection questionable, 0:16:25.920 --> 0:16:29.920 stuck between one and two. Ability to defend position at 0:16:29.960 --> 0:16:35.840 next level questionable, lateral quickness, versatility to defend multiple positions, 0:16:35.840 --> 0:16:41.160 limited upside, questionable backup, fringe starter. College system makes him 0:16:41.160 --> 0:16:44.200 difficult to evaluate. He went to a small school. We 0:16:44.240 --> 0:16:45.160 don't know if he's going to make. 0:16:45.120 --> 0:16:46.560 It in the big lease. 0:16:47.400 --> 0:16:56.720 Average athleticism, average size, average wingspan, frail frame, relies too 0:16:56.800 --> 0:17:01.040 heavily on outside shot. But yeah, well, Steph Curry's doing 0:17:01.080 --> 0:17:05.119 all right in the NBA. He's doing all right in 0:17:05.160 --> 0:17:10.320 the NBA. Aren't you glad? The scouting report is not 0:17:10.440 --> 0:17:20.359 the last word over your life. All of those things 0:17:20.440 --> 0:17:22.680 might have been true. All of those things might have 0:17:22.760 --> 0:17:25.399 been true. But now that we're looking at now that 0:17:25.440 --> 0:17:28.720 we're looking back, we can see what they couldn't see. 0:17:29.880 --> 0:17:32.960 We can see Mark chapter eight, verses fourteen through twenty one. 0:17:33.800 --> 0:17:35.159 We can put the pieces together. 0:17:35.480 --> 0:17:39.440 Listen what the Warriors coach said. He said, I hope 0:17:39.440 --> 0:17:43.679 that scout is no longer evaluating tech. Somebody say you 0:17:43.720 --> 0:17:46.880 need to fire your scout. You need to fire your scout, Moses, 0:17:47.160 --> 0:17:49.040 they're going to keep you out of the Promised Land, 0:17:49.080 --> 0:17:52.080 talking about the giants and forgetting about the grapes. You 0:17:52.119 --> 0:17:55.280 need to fire your scout. Listen what the GM of 0:17:55.320 --> 0:18:00.320 the Warriors said. He said. What people who did didn't 0:18:00.359 --> 0:18:04.320 like him, didn't see is that he's a tremendous worker 0:18:04.400 --> 0:18:08.360 and cares about the game if you look back. If 0:18:08.359 --> 0:18:11.880 you look back, he has gotten better every single year. 0:18:13.600 --> 0:18:19.720 And if you liked him back then you saw a glimpse. 0:18:20.080 --> 0:18:25.960 Of what he could become. God likes me. 0:18:27.880 --> 0:18:30.480 It took me a while to figure that out because 0:18:30.480 --> 0:18:30.960 I thought. 0:18:30.760 --> 0:18:32.360 He needed me to be like the Pharisees. 0:18:33.720 --> 0:18:36.640 I thought my life was too broken because I think 0:18:36.760 --> 0:18:40.240 like this and respond like that. But I found out 0:18:40.240 --> 0:18:46.600 he likes me. I found out he likes me. If 0:18:46.600 --> 0:18:50.159 you liked him, you could get a glimpse of what 0:18:50.240 --> 0:18:53.320 he could become. Some of you can't see what you 0:18:53.359 --> 0:18:58.440 could be because you don't like who you are. When 0:18:58.440 --> 0:19:03.040 you don't like yourself, you can't see the picture for 0:19:03.119 --> 0:19:10.000 the pieces. You can't see what could become. It's kind 0:19:10.000 --> 0:19:13.480 of hard to see the picture when all you have 0:19:14.760 --> 0:19:17.240 is the pieces. It's kind of hard to see the provision. 0:19:17.280 --> 0:19:19.360 That's the second thing I want to talk about. There 0:19:19.359 --> 0:19:21.639 are three of these that all start with the letter P. 0:19:22.080 --> 0:19:25.160 The first one was the potential, and the second one 0:19:25.440 --> 0:19:29.959 was provision. Because potential is realized in pieces. Is putting 0:19:29.960 --> 0:19:32.600 together what you have, not getting something that you're missing, 0:19:33.320 --> 0:19:35.639 it's putting together what you have. I just said a 0:19:35.680 --> 0:19:37.359 lot I said it real quick, so I need to 0:19:37.400 --> 0:19:38.840 back up over it and drive by. 0:19:38.880 --> 0:19:39.440 Real slow. 0:19:40.320 --> 0:19:43.080 Is putting together what you have, Ezekiel, What do you 0:19:43.119 --> 0:19:45.080 see in the valley? I see bones? But when they 0:19:45.160 --> 0:19:49.360 came together, they became an army. A lot of churches 0:19:49.400 --> 0:19:53.040 have a lot of potential, but because they won't come together, 0:19:53.200 --> 0:19:56.760 they can't realize it. Potential is realized in pieces, and 0:19:56.800 --> 0:20:01.680 so is provision. Jesus multiplied the loaves and they went 0:20:01.720 --> 0:20:04.800 home with basketfuls of broken pieces because he saw the 0:20:04.840 --> 0:20:08.520 potential in a little boy's lunch. The Bible says that 0:20:08.560 --> 0:20:11.440 he fed five thousand, but that's not really true. It 0:20:11.560 --> 0:20:14.600 was five thousand men that society didn't even count, the 0:20:14.640 --> 0:20:17.359 women and the children. It was somebody that they didn't 0:20:17.440 --> 0:20:20.959 even count that had the seed of the miracle that 0:20:21.000 --> 0:20:27.200 they all received. Because God sees potential in small places 0:20:27.680 --> 0:20:30.960 and in overlook people, and in David in the field 0:20:30.960 --> 0:20:33.639 while his brothers are all lined up waiting to be 0:20:33.720 --> 0:20:36.879 fitted for a crown and waiting to be anointed with oil. 0:20:37.160 --> 0:20:39.800 But God calls for the one that nobody else saw 0:20:39.840 --> 0:20:44.919 the potential in, just the youngest one, just the little boy, 0:20:45.880 --> 0:20:50.720 just a fisherman in a taxkan the pieces together the potential, 0:20:52.160 --> 0:20:54.159 and pieces together. 0:20:55.280 --> 0:20:57.960 The provision, the provision. 0:21:00.280 --> 0:21:03.760 Understand that your provision is released in pieces, you'll miss 0:21:03.800 --> 0:21:12.240 it when it comes your emotional provision, your financial provision, 0:21:13.320 --> 0:21:20.040 your relational provision is gonna come in pieces, and you'll 0:21:20.040 --> 0:21:22.600 receive one piece in one season, and one piece and another, 0:21:24.080 --> 0:21:26.040 and by the time you have everything you need, you 0:21:26.040 --> 0:21:28.119 don't even remember when it exactly got there because it 0:21:28.119 --> 0:21:38.119 came in pieces. I received my sermons in pieces. All 0:21:38.119 --> 0:21:40.480 write sometime and go, that's pretty good that I write. 0:21:40.520 --> 0:21:42.679 Someone's down. I go, that's pretty good, all right, someone's down, 0:21:42.720 --> 0:21:44.560 and go that's pretty good, all right, someone else down. 0:21:44.720 --> 0:21:45.479 That's pretty good. 0:21:46.119 --> 0:21:48.720 And if I get enough pieces, it does a matter 0:21:48.720 --> 0:21:53.200 of time before I have a picture. Oh that might 0:21:53.240 --> 0:21:56.600 preach if I worked on it a little while. Comes 0:21:56.600 --> 0:22:02.119 in in pieces, but the pieces don't look like the picture. 0:22:05.960 --> 0:22:08.240 So what happens is you get stuck on one part 0:22:08.280 --> 0:22:12.200 of your life where there's a missing piece. We don't 0:22:12.200 --> 0:22:15.760 have any bread. One part bread is sitting in front 0:22:15.800 --> 0:22:18.879 of you. We don't have any bread. It's stuck on 0:22:18.880 --> 0:22:22.640 one thing. Feel horrible about yourself, stuck on one thing, 0:22:23.520 --> 0:22:26.960 kicking button fifteen categories, making a C minus in one, 0:22:27.880 --> 0:22:31.639 and all you can see is the sea stuck on 0:22:32.040 --> 0:22:36.159 the missing piece. Confessing time, I was not the best 0:22:36.240 --> 0:22:40.520 dad this week. Okay, not anything bad that I did. 0:22:40.600 --> 0:22:43.200 I slapped my kid across the room, might have thought 0:22:43.200 --> 0:22:45.080 about it once or twice, didn't do it, thought about 0:22:45.080 --> 0:22:49.239 it before. I hadn't done it yet. It wasn't like that. 0:22:49.280 --> 0:22:49.960 I was just busy. 0:22:50.000 --> 0:22:51.040 I released a book, I. 0:22:51.000 --> 0:22:53.560 Preached, I traveled, I preached, I trained, I got decermins 0:22:53.560 --> 0:22:54.920 of things. I'm out everywhere. 0:22:55.000 --> 0:22:57.280 So this week I. 0:22:57.240 --> 0:22:59.719 Don't feel like I was like the best dad. I mean, 0:23:00.240 --> 0:23:01.800 I don't feel like I've knocked it out of the 0:23:01.840 --> 0:23:04.240 park as a dad. This week I didn't. I didn't 0:23:04.240 --> 0:23:06.760 get Graham had his first baseball practice for the year. 0:23:06.880 --> 0:23:09.719 I didn't take him to baseball practice. Somebody took him. 0:23:09.760 --> 0:23:16.120 I didn't take him. He got took but I didn't 0:23:16.119 --> 0:23:19.680 take him. But guess what if I don't sell a book, 0:23:19.720 --> 0:23:25.760 he doesn't have a bat. So this week I gotta 0:23:25.800 --> 0:23:29.280 sell some books so you can have a bat. And 0:23:29.400 --> 0:23:31.960 next week I'll watch you swing it. Tell somebody piece 0:23:31.960 --> 0:23:35.399 it together. I'm not gonna win it everything all at once. 0:23:35.680 --> 0:23:38.119 I'm not gonna be everything to everybody all at once, 0:23:38.400 --> 0:23:41.880 but my provision comes in pieces, so so I'm gonna 0:23:41.880 --> 0:23:43.719 be I'm gonna be an excellent dad this week. I'm 0:23:43.720 --> 0:23:46.800 gonna take him to school at least one day out 0:23:46.840 --> 0:23:51.320 of the week. I'm gonna get that right. I bought 0:23:51.320 --> 0:23:53.040 some Elijah. You don't even know I bought this yet, 0:23:53.040 --> 0:23:55.320 but I bought, and I told miss Amy to keep it. 0:23:56.440 --> 0:23:59.879 I bought something for us to play with together, because 0:23:59.880 --> 0:24:04.160 you know, I just figure. Now, listen, people, I don't 0:24:04.200 --> 0:24:06.600 even like Star Wars, but this thing looked cool to me. 0:24:08.040 --> 0:24:15.720 Let's see, it's called the the Naboo Starfighter. Naboo Naboo Naboo. 0:24:17.840 --> 0:24:19.639 All right, let's take a vote. How many say it's 0:24:19.760 --> 0:24:25.840 Naboo Naboo Naboo. All right, We're gonna call it the ship. 0:24:27.480 --> 0:24:29.160 This ship. I saw it. I thought, man, we can 0:24:29.200 --> 0:24:31.480 play with that. And since I didn't get a lot 0:24:31.480 --> 0:24:35.040 of time with them last week, we're gonna We're gonna 0:24:35.040 --> 0:24:38.000 go home and fly this thing around. Doesn't matter that 0:24:38.040 --> 0:24:40.160 I don't I'm not a Star Wars fan. My kids 0:24:40.160 --> 0:24:43.320 love Star Wars, and we are gonna take this thing 0:24:43.440 --> 0:24:48.800 and enjoy it. This week. I saw that picture. 0:24:48.880 --> 0:25:04.359 I thought, Man, they're gonna love that. 0:25:05.600 --> 0:25:13.960 I'm sorry, man, we I think they saw me a 0:25:14.000 --> 0:25:21.160 broken ship. I'll take this back to target, cause. 0:25:36.680 --> 0:25:37.480 I'm not supposed to. 0:26:04.760 --> 0:26:13.760 What do you do when this doesn't look like this? 0:26:21.640 --> 0:26:26.800 What do you do when the pieces don't look like 0:26:28.480 --> 0:26:38.880 the picture, when the process doesn't look like the promise? 0:26:44.320 --> 0:26:52.840 This is ridiculous. Look at this, this, this thing. I 0:26:52.880 --> 0:27:00.359 bought a ship sixty nine dollars. Shit, this got holes 0:27:00.400 --> 0:27:08.720 in it too. Pay sixty nine dollars for this. That's 0:27:08.800 --> 0:27:22.359 not what I picture. But maybe maybe it's in pieces. 0:27:23.760 --> 0:27:24.400 On purpose. 0:27:29.720 --> 0:27:34.120 Abraham, come out of your tent and count the stars. 0:27:34.920 --> 0:27:39.960 If you can't, okay, well, now as the stars are 0:27:40.000 --> 0:27:45.520 in the sky, so shall your descendants be. He's got 0:27:45.520 --> 0:27:51.640 the picture. But then, but then, but then, every I said, 0:27:51.640 --> 0:27:56.119 but then, see, God will show you the picture and 0:27:56.160 --> 0:28:02.560 then he'll hand you a piece. What am I supposed 0:28:02.600 --> 0:28:09.200 to do with this? This is essentially what the first 0:28:09.280 --> 0:28:14.920 year of marriage is like. By the way, it's when 0:28:14.960 --> 0:28:23.280 you had a picture, but you got a piece. All 0:28:23.320 --> 0:28:26.040 of the newly married people, you should look highly confused 0:28:26.040 --> 0:28:28.840 at this point in the sermon, like you don't know 0:28:28.880 --> 0:28:32.600 what I'm talking about. This is what parenting is like too. 0:28:34.240 --> 0:28:38.400 Because you have a picture of raising children. I'm alwais 0:28:38.480 --> 0:28:48.280 a world sanger. Okay, change a diaper. Come on, come on, 0:28:49.160 --> 0:28:51.880 come on. I'm preaching, Donna. I'm preaching, Donna. You know 0:28:51.920 --> 0:28:56.040 what I'm trying to get you to see that you 0:28:56.200 --> 0:29:01.760 can't judge the picture by the peace. You can't judge 0:29:01.800 --> 0:29:05.400 the picture by the piece. Some of you are giving 0:29:05.480 --> 0:29:08.719 up on your picture because you're looking at your piece. 0:29:09.280 --> 0:29:12.320 But if you get enough pieces, I say, if you 0:29:12.400 --> 0:29:16.920 get enough pieces, if Jesus said, don't you remember the pieces? 0:29:18.200 --> 0:29:23.360 If you get enough pieces, if you get enough pieces 0:29:25.160 --> 0:29:28.720 and you have a hold on a second, I'm glad 0:29:28.760 --> 0:29:32.200 I got one of these because this is gonna show 0:29:32.280 --> 0:29:36.640 me how to make the pieces look like the picture. 0:29:36.760 --> 0:29:37.600 Show somebody. 0:29:42.320 --> 0:29:43.480 That's why people tell me it's. 0:29:43.400 --> 0:29:46.760 Coming in pieces. It's coming in pieces. It's coming in pieces. 0:29:46.960 --> 0:29:49.520 God's gonna give you everything you need, but he's gonna 0:29:49.560 --> 0:29:52.440 give it to you in pieces. And you keep thinking 0:29:52.480 --> 0:29:55.840 it's gonna come like a naboo nahboo, noo boo nahboo, 0:29:56.160 --> 0:30:05.520 is coming in pieces, pieces, pieces, God said, bring me 0:30:05.640 --> 0:30:09.520 your pieces. I know what to do is in pieces 0:30:09.880 --> 0:30:18.000 on purpose, all kinds of pieces, all kinds of pieces. 0:30:19.080 --> 0:30:27.479 I realize this thing isn't broken, but see it. It 0:30:27.520 --> 0:30:31.560 looks broken, but it's broken in a way that I 0:30:31.600 --> 0:30:36.440 can build with it. God said, I put some deficiencies 0:30:36.440 --> 0:30:38.760 in your life because I want you to learn how 0:30:38.800 --> 0:30:41.160 to be interconnected with others. 0:30:41.600 --> 0:30:43.240 That's why I had to let you have. 0:30:43.240 --> 0:30:46.680 Some broken places so I would have something to build on. 0:30:47.800 --> 0:30:55.760 Peter James Shaw In pieces, it's in pieces. A lot 0:30:55.760 --> 0:30:59.160 of churches don't realize their potential because they want to 0:30:59.200 --> 0:31:04.840 have people with all the same sized pieces. But God said, 0:31:04.880 --> 0:31:07.959 when I stocked that box, I put in all kinds 0:31:07.960 --> 0:31:13.080 of pieces, fat pieces and skinny pieces, and long pieces 0:31:13.120 --> 0:31:16.800 and short pieces. And yet in red, yellow, and black 0:31:16.840 --> 0:31:22.000 and white. You know, I can't understand why anybody would 0:31:22.000 --> 0:31:29.560 want their church to be all white or all black, 0:31:33.600 --> 0:31:36.120 because for what I'm building, I need a lot of 0:31:36.160 --> 0:31:41.840 different colored pieces. I don't just need one color. I 0:31:41.880 --> 0:31:48.240 don't just need one type. Whoo whoo, the power of 0:31:48.360 --> 0:31:56.000 the pieces. Don't you remember the pieces? It's such your 0:31:56.040 --> 0:32:00.720 neighbor one more time and say there's power in the pieces. Ah, God, 0:32:00.880 --> 0:32:04.880 So so you gotta see the potential in the pieces. 0:32:04.960 --> 0:32:08.040 Potential is realized in pieces. You're never gonna feel like 0:32:08.120 --> 0:32:09.400 you have what you need. But if you take what 0:32:09.440 --> 0:32:11.000 you have and put it together with what you have, 0:32:11.080 --> 0:32:12.920 and put it together with what you have, put together 0:32:12.920 --> 0:32:15.200 with what they have and what they have, you're gonna 0:32:15.200 --> 0:32:19.600 see the provision is released in pieces. And my third 0:32:19.640 --> 0:32:26.560 point is purpose is revealed in pieces. Purpose is revealed 0:32:27.240 --> 0:32:32.040 in pieces. Purpose is revealed in pieces. It means you 0:32:32.080 --> 0:32:36.560 can't see it while you're in it. You can only 0:32:36.600 --> 0:32:42.920 see it looking back, looking back. I see it now, 0:32:43.080 --> 0:32:45.920 like I see this church now, and I realize Holly 0:32:46.080 --> 0:32:52.600 was right. Well you can say amen now too, because 0:32:52.600 --> 0:32:57.160 it's ten years in. But how about when we only 0:32:57.200 --> 0:33:02.840 had one loaf of bread. It's easy to look back 0:33:02.880 --> 0:33:06.280 and say, man, they were successful because they had this. 0:33:06.400 --> 0:33:08.160 This said, yeah, you see the picture. 0:33:11.080 --> 0:33:16.840 They saw them pieces. They didn't know what to do 0:33:16.920 --> 0:33:20.480 with it either. Life handed them some pain, but they 0:33:20.480 --> 0:33:25.280 built with it. Life handed them some crazy stuff, but 0:33:25.360 --> 0:33:31.280 they pieced it together. And it's interesting because when you 0:33:31.320 --> 0:33:32.400 see the finished. 0:33:32.000 --> 0:33:32.840 Product of something. 0:33:33.840 --> 0:33:36.640 Look at my book, and this pretty. 0:33:39.000 --> 0:33:41.640 So pretty, They're so pretty. 0:33:43.480 --> 0:33:47.240 It was made to look like a stained glass because 0:33:47.800 --> 0:33:53.880 God uses broken people. He takes the pieces and puts 0:33:53.920 --> 0:33:57.960 them together. I think Peter would have laughed if he 0:33:58.000 --> 0:34:01.360 could have seen the cathedrals that would be built in 0:34:01.360 --> 0:34:04.320 his honor. You think you ever imagine that there'd be 0:34:04.320 --> 0:34:09.080 basilicas named after him. I visited some of the cathedrals 0:34:09.120 --> 0:34:15.560 named after these jokers in the boat. But God knows 0:34:15.560 --> 0:34:20.000 how to arrange the pieces. They didn't see it either. 0:34:20.880 --> 0:34:23.600 They didn't know. Even when they died, they didn't know 0:34:23.640 --> 0:34:28.040 we'd be preaching about them today. So you write a book, 0:34:29.320 --> 0:34:32.719 and I'm proud of this book, and I hope you're 0:34:32.719 --> 0:34:34.000 going to read it, and when you read it, you'll 0:34:34.040 --> 0:34:37.880 see the picture. But I don't read it after I 0:34:37.920 --> 0:34:40.960 write it because by the time you can see the picture, 0:34:41.040 --> 0:34:44.120 I am through with the pieces. I am through. I 0:34:44.160 --> 0:34:45.000 don't even know what's in her. 0:34:45.000 --> 0:34:46.120 I don't care. I hope it's good. 0:34:47.600 --> 0:34:50.480 Because I remember all the pieces of the process. You know, 0:34:51.840 --> 0:34:53.760 And somebody will say, you raised great kids. 0:34:53.840 --> 0:34:55.000 I did. 0:34:56.000 --> 0:34:59.960 They see the picture? You see the pieces? They say, oh, man, 0:35:00.520 --> 0:35:07.840 he's a great guy about Oh, they see the picture, 0:35:09.640 --> 0:35:14.839 you see the pieces. One of the things about this 0:35:15.280 --> 0:35:18.759 cover of this book is that it's like the twentieth 0:35:18.800 --> 0:35:22.480 one that we did. It's like the twentieth one. It 0:35:22.520 --> 0:35:25.240 was just back and forth and back and forth, finding 0:35:25.320 --> 0:35:29.239 a last gasp desperation attempt to create something that the 0:35:29.239 --> 0:35:31.440 publisher would accept them that I would also love. I 0:35:31.480 --> 0:35:34.879 told Ryan hollings Worth, put a stained glass motif on it, 0:35:35.520 --> 0:35:37.560 and if it could be Moses, I'd like it to 0:35:37.600 --> 0:35:38.120 be Moses. 0:35:39.000 --> 0:35:40.560 And he sent this back to me, and I knew. 0:35:40.560 --> 0:35:41.239 I said, that's the one. 0:35:41.280 --> 0:35:43.200 I don't even care what the publisher says about it. 0:35:43.239 --> 0:35:45.000 I'm telling you that's the one I will self publish 0:35:45.040 --> 0:35:47.279 this month. If they don't want to publish it, I 0:35:47.320 --> 0:35:51.160 will publish it because that's my cover. I just I 0:35:51.200 --> 0:35:55.120 love the cover. I thought that represented what I was 0:35:55.160 --> 0:36:00.000 trying to say. Broke anyway. Well, he emailed me back 0:36:00.040 --> 0:36:02.000 and said, I'm glad you liked the cover. 0:36:02.640 --> 0:36:03.160 He said, but. 0:36:05.120 --> 0:36:06.680 If it's okay, I just want to tell you one 0:36:06.680 --> 0:36:07.200 little thing. 0:36:07.120 --> 0:36:10.239 About the inspiration of it. He said. 0:36:10.280 --> 0:36:12.760 I don't know if you remember, back around two thousand 0:36:12.760 --> 0:36:17.160 and four, two thousand and five, you spoke at a 0:36:17.200 --> 0:36:25.120 youth camp at Covenant College in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I was 0:36:25.160 --> 0:36:29.720 a counselor at that youth camp. It was the first 0:36:29.719 --> 0:36:31.600 time I had heard you speak. You didn't even know 0:36:31.680 --> 0:36:34.879 me back then. I don't know if you remember that, 0:36:35.760 --> 0:36:40.719 but and of course I did, because that was where 0:36:40.760 --> 0:36:42.600 I was speaking when Holly looked at me and said 0:36:43.600 --> 0:36:48.000 it's time. He didn't know that. I didn't know that. 0:36:48.080 --> 0:36:52.600 His inspiration for the cover was the stained glass in 0:36:52.680 --> 0:36:59.239 the chapel of Covenant College, which was the place so 0:36:59.400 --> 0:37:01.200 you got to come a place in your life where 0:37:01.200 --> 0:37:06.640 you're convinced that God is working all things together for 0:37:06.760 --> 0:37:08.880 the good of those who love him and are called 0:37:10.239 --> 0:37:19.799 according to his purpose. He said, he said, he said, 0:37:20.200 --> 0:37:22.360 that's from the stained glass in that college chapel. You 0:37:22.400 --> 0:37:27.520 probably don't even remember it. I said, oh yeah, I remember. 0:37:29.040 --> 0:37:36.080 I remember how Holly saw the potential when all I 0:37:36.120 --> 0:37:41.879 could see was the pieces. Because when you're looking at 0:37:41.920 --> 0:37:43.920 something and it's right now, we got to have bread 0:37:44.000 --> 0:37:46.520 right now, we got to have lunch right now. When 0:37:46.560 --> 0:37:50.080 you're looking at something that close up, it doesn't look 0:37:50.160 --> 0:37:55.719 like anything. I can't see it from here. I can't 0:37:55.760 --> 0:38:03.200 see it. I see something. I'm busy, I'm trying. I'm 0:38:03.200 --> 0:38:08.319 in church, I mean, but see, every time you take 0:38:08.360 --> 0:38:15.200 a step, you see a little more with every step. 0:38:16.800 --> 0:38:20.560 You see it a little more with every year that passes, 0:38:20.600 --> 0:38:29.480 with every victory, with every defeat. So take another step. Okay, Okay, 0:38:29.520 --> 0:38:31.319 I'm seeing something now here comes here, it comes here, 0:38:31.400 --> 0:38:36.920 comes seeing something. So I'm gonna take another step. Okay, 0:38:36.920 --> 0:38:39.600 I think something. I think something's happening. I think there's 0:38:39.640 --> 0:38:42.400 a design to this. I'm trying to get you to 0:38:42.440 --> 0:38:44.799 see your life in a new perspective. I'm trying to 0:38:44.800 --> 0:38:47.080 get you to see that it's not random. I'm trying 0:38:47.080 --> 0:38:51.720 to get you to recognize the beauty that God sees 0:38:52.800 --> 0:38:59.760 in your brokenness and all things work together. You're gonna 0:38:59.800 --> 0:39:05.440 see it in the pieces. You're gonna see it in pieces. 0:39:05.440 --> 0:39:10.160 You're gonna see it in pieces, piece by piece. 0:39:11.520 --> 0:39:12.520 Step my step. 0:39:13.719 --> 0:39:17.280 If anybody's grateful for purpose, jump up on your feet. 0:39:17.080 --> 0:39:23.680 And give Colim pray. I see it now. I see 0:39:23.719 --> 0:39:27.480 it now, look at it. 0:39:28.840 --> 0:39:30.239 Look at how beautiful that was. 0:39:31.960 --> 0:39:38.279 But I can only see it looking back. The key is, 0:39:39.520 --> 0:39:44.160 can you trust moving forward in what you'll only be 0:39:44.239 --> 0:39:54.799 able to see looking back. I'm in this boat. I 0:39:54.840 --> 0:39:58.520 don't have any bread. But now, last time he fed people, 0:39:58.719 --> 0:40:01.279 and last time he fed people, and last time he 0:40:01.360 --> 0:40:11.640 saw me through, and last time I'm gonna piece it together. Purpose, provision, 0:40:13.000 --> 0:40:20.680 potential is in you. It's not a missing piece that's 0:40:20.800 --> 0:40:26.920 keeping you from seeing God do big things in your life. 0:40:27.280 --> 0:40:31.880 It's your ability to recognize the big picture in the 0:40:31.920 --> 0:40:36.360 little pieces. The Pharisees wanted to sign. They said, we 0:40:36.360 --> 0:40:40.120 need to sign, we need to sign. Well, he was 0:40:40.160 --> 0:40:43.960 fulfilling the prophecies. He was speaking the word. They just 0:40:44.000 --> 0:40:47.000 couldn't see it in pieces. We can see it now. 0:40:48.040 --> 0:40:52.280 They couldn't see it. The disciples were so worried about bread. 0:40:52.880 --> 0:40:57.799 But it's not about the brand. It's not about what 0:40:57.880 --> 0:40:59.960 you don't have. It never was not about what you 0:41:00.120 --> 0:41:05.000 can't do. It's not about what you did. It's about 0:41:05.040 --> 0:41:11.239 seeing the potential, the provision and the purpose and your 0:41:11.239 --> 0:41:14.640 broken pieces.
