Every time 0:06:28.520 --> 0:06:33.640 Sarah saw Hagar, she became more and more upset. I'm not saying in the 0:06:40.680 --> 0:06:45.280 house with that woman. Abraham was in a complicated situation. 0:06:45.800 --> 0:06:49.080 Two women mad at him. He's trying to please both 0:06:49.120 --> 0:06:54.480 of them. He needed divine intervention. He was at a crossroads. 0:06:55.080 --> 0:06:59.480 He has to send his son away out into the desert. 0:07:00.120 --> 0:07:03.279 Look like that would be the end of Ishmael. The 0:07:03.360 --> 0:07:08.200 problem was he loved Ishmael, that was his son. Yes it's dysfunctional, their strife and division. I'm going to 0:08:09.760 --> 0:08:13.960 bring something significant out of him, Abraham, in spite of 0:08:14.000 --> 0:08:18.480 your failures, in spite of how you blew it. These were the descendants of Ishmael, 0:09:23.320 --> 0:09:27.680 part of the great nation that God promised Abraham. When 0:09:27.760 --> 0:09:32.240 Joseph's brothers saw the Ishmaelites, they changed their mind and 0:09:32.320 --> 0:09:35.920 decided to sell Joseph to them. If it had not 0:09:36.080 --> 0:09:39.360 been for the Ishmaelites, Joseph would have died there in 0:09:39.400 --> 0:09:42.240 the pit. He would have never made it to the palace, 0:09:42.840 --> 0:09:46.280 never been in charge of the food supply during the famine. 0:09:46.320 --> 0:09:49.400 The Israelites years later wouldn't have had what they needed 0:09:49.440 --> 0:09:53.839 to survive. What am I saying the mistake of Abraham 0:09:54.480 --> 0:09:58.840 became the miracle of his great great grandson Joseph. This 0:09:58.880 --> 0:10:02.400 is how amazing God is. He has a plan even 0:10:02.640 --> 0:10:06.680 for our mistakes, even when we blow it. When we bring trouble on ourselves, 0:11:08.840 --> 0:11:13.400 thoughts of guilt and condemnation bombard our mind, saying God's 0:11:13.440 --> 0:11:15.960 not going to help you. You knew better just sit 0:11:16.240 --> 0:11:20.280 on the sidelines of life. This is how Jonah felt 0:11:20.320 --> 0:11:23.320 in the scripture. God told him to go to the 0:11:23.360 --> 0:11:27.760 city of Nineveh. He had clear directions. He knew exactly 0:11:27.840 --> 0:11:30.959 what he was supposed to do. But Jonah didn't want 0:11:31.000 --> 0:11:33.959 to go to Ninevah. He got on a boat headed 0:11:34.040 --> 0:11:39.240 in the opposite direction. The scripture says the Lord caused 0:11:39.280 --> 0:11:43.120 a great wind to blow on the sea, and such 0:11:43.120 --> 0:11:46.840 a violent storm arose that it threatened to break the 0:11:46.920 --> 0:11:52.320 boat apart. It's interesting that the Lord sent the storm. 0:11:52.720 --> 0:11:55.679 God knows how to get our attention. And when you 0:11:55.800 --> 0:11:59.520 know you're going the wrong way like this boat, things 0:11:59.520 --> 0:12:02.280 were going to say start to fall apart. You can't 0:12:02.280 --> 0:12:05.320 pray away all the winds. You can say peace be 0:12:05.440 --> 0:12:08.560 still all day long, but the winds may not calm down. 0:12:09.160 --> 0:12:13.440 It is because you're causing the trouble.
