Men can exist on things that care for their physical needs without lifting their eyes to the stars or turning their hearts to hear the angels' song. But men are seldom content to live a lifetime that way. They're ever searching for peace and happiness that makes life rich. And more than just a matter of daily existence. That's the reason the star and the song still bring it to a confused world each Christmas. The thoughts of everlasting peace and spiritual satisfaction. May the hunger in men's souls today urge them to lift their eyes to the star. that they may journey towards its glorious light. May men realize that the only peace in the world is found in the heart of the man, the woman, who has found Christ as his Savior. The only one who can bring peace to the individual today is the Christ, the Son. of the living God. Peace on earth. But the only one who can bring that peace and give that peace is the very Christ, the divine Son of God. The King is coming. In the holiday season, we hear so much about peace. But if there is to be peace, real peace, lasting peace, the kind of peace that men dream about, Begin in the human heart. In your heart. In my heart. In the individual heart. The pathway to peace. To be glad of life. Because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars. To be satisfied with your possessions but not contented with yourself until you've made the best of them. To despise nothing in the world. Nothing except falsehood and meanness. And to fear nothing except cowardice. To be governed by your admirations rather than your disgust. To covet nothing that is your neighbor's. Accept his kindness of heart and the gentleness of manners. To think seldom of your enemies, but often of your friends. And live every day with Christ. We live. and move and have our being in him. Peace on earth? He will give that peace. and indescribable is the spirit of Christmas. It's something far deeper than mere gift -giving. And all the spontaneous joy and all the gaiety that goes with the season. It expresses itself in the very spirit with which it draws people together. It weaves into a golden cord that binds us all into a spirit that has been called for centuries, goodwill toward men. The story of the babe in the manger, the star of Bethlehem, the three wise men is old and yet it's ever new. And one cannot think of it without there being a tendency to overlook the deep religious significance of Christ's birth. Christmas is not just a time for festivity and merrymaking. It's more than that. It's a time for the contemplation of eternal things. The Christmas spirit The real Christmas spirit is the spirit of not only giving, but forgiving. How can we expect our children to know and experience the joy of giving unless we teach them that the greater pleasure in life lies in the art of giving rather than receiving? We cannot very well tell the art of giving unless we practice it. But to give with the thought of getting will not help matters, for then giving becomes a matter of bookkeeping. And we should make the yuletide season an occasion not merely for the giving of material things, but an occasion for the giving of that which counts indefinitely more. The giving of self. And there is no greater gift than the giving of self. We are, my friend, our brother's keeper. I am my brother's keeper. You are your brother's keeper. And let us keep this truth in mind. Let us ever extend peace and goodwill to men everywhere. Christmas is a light that has flamed through the ages. It's the glow that warms the hut's men wherever the old yet ever new manger story is known and loved. Christmas is peace. The promise of angels fulfilled for a season is the foretaste of what could be if men... would but follow the teachings of the one whose birthday it is. Christmas is a spirit that flows from one heart to another, from one land to another. It's more precious than rubies and better than gold. Christmas is a fate. A faith in goodness and kindness, in truth and love. It's a faith in God, in his son, in ourselves, in our fellow men. Christmas is joy, and emotion is natural to the heart of man as to the heart of God. Surely a joyful creator, fashioned. Snow garland fir trees and diamond frosted stars for our delight. And small winged creatures that sing even to the rain. Christmas is a benediction. Turning men's thoughts from material things to those which are spiritual. It's a blessing. which implants goodwill and fellowship among all peoples. What is Christmas? It's tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. A fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal and that every path may be led to peace Sweet little Jesus boy, they made you be born in a manger. Sweet little holy child, didn't know who... To save us, Lord To take our sins away Our eyes was blind We could not see centuries have come and gone and today he is the centerpiece of the human race and I'm Paul within the mark when I say that of all the armies that ever marched and all the navies that were ever built and all the parliaments that ever sat and all the kings that ever reigned all put together have not affected the life of man upon this earth. as has that one solitary life. The one who alone will bring peace, goodwill to men.
