The grass withers, 0:00:58.400 --> 0:01:01.760 the flower fades, but the word of the Lord stands forever. 0:01:02.720 --> 0:01:04.520 Y'all need to learn the Bible better so you can 0:01:04.600 --> 0:01:06.880 quote it when I quote it. The grass withers, the 0:01:06.920 --> 0:01:10.640 flower fades, but the word of the Lord stands forever. 0:01:11.160 --> 0:01:15.120 Amen. The word of the Lord in Exodus chapter. 0:01:14.880 --> 0:01:17.119 Four may be a familiar scripture, but there is one 0:01:17.120 --> 0:01:17.720 thing I want. 0:01:17.560 --> 0:01:20.200 To highlight for your life today. By the way. 0:01:20.280 --> 0:01:22.760 If you're watching online, just put in the comments I'm here, 0:01:23.800 --> 0:01:27.160 let us know that you're joining too. And if you're 0:01:27.160 --> 0:01:28.880 here in person, just go ahead and shout it at 0:01:28.880 --> 0:01:29.840 me to say I'm here. 0:01:30.880 --> 0:01:35.280 I'm awake, I had my coffee, and I want to 0:01:35.319 --> 0:01:36.000 break through. 0:01:37.440 --> 0:01:39.480 All right. 0:01:44.319 --> 0:01:49.680 When we see this meeting in Exodus chapter four, we 0:01:49.760 --> 0:01:52.480 are walking in to the middle. 0:01:53.280 --> 0:01:57.400 Of a mess. That's where God likes to. 0:01:57.360 --> 0:01:58.160 Work the most. 0:02:00.120 --> 0:02:01.200 Chapter four, Verse. 0:02:01.000 --> 0:02:05.400 One, Moses answered, what if they do not believe me 0:02:05.520 --> 0:02:07.480 or listen to me and say the Lord did not 0:02:07.560 --> 0:02:08.280 appear to you. 0:02:09.520 --> 0:02:11.000 Then the Lord said to him. 0:02:11.880 --> 0:02:14.000 What is that in your hand? 0:02:14.480 --> 0:02:18.480 A staff, he replied. The Lord said, throw it on 0:02:18.520 --> 0:02:21.680 the ground. I feel like he probably hollered at him 0:02:21.680 --> 0:02:26.799 because pretty pretty weird thing he's asking him to do here. 0:02:26.880 --> 0:02:30.360 So the Lord said it with confidence, throw it on 0:02:30.400 --> 0:02:30.840 the ground. 0:02:32.000 --> 0:02:35.040 Moses threw it on the ground, and it became a snake. 0:02:35.360 --> 0:02:37.120 Oh, this is getting worse, not better. 0:02:37.840 --> 0:02:40.120 When your staff becomes a snake, it looks like you're 0:02:40.120 --> 0:02:42.240 going backwards when you need God to comfort you. 0:02:43.520 --> 0:02:45.639 A staff, he replied, And. 0:02:45.600 --> 0:02:47.280 The Lord said, throw it on the ground. 0:02:47.320 --> 0:02:49.560 And Moses threw it on the ground and it became 0:02:50.040 --> 0:02:52.160 a snake, and he ran from it. 0:02:53.120 --> 0:02:56.119 Well, that makes sense, I would do that too. 0:02:56.800 --> 0:03:00.880 But then the Lord said, reach out your hand and 0:03:00.960 --> 0:03:03.480 take it by the tail. So Moses reached out and 0:03:03.520 --> 0:03:06.240 took hold of the snake, and it turned back into 0:03:06.320 --> 0:03:10.920 a staff in his hand. This said the Lord, is 0:03:10.960 --> 0:03:15.240 so that they may believe that the Lord, the God 0:03:15.280 --> 0:03:19.880 of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, 0:03:20.560 --> 0:03:23.200 and the God of Jacob. Is so that they may 0:03:23.280 --> 0:03:27.800 believe that that God has appeared to you. Now drop down, 0:03:27.840 --> 0:03:31.880 please to verse number seventeen. Because God gives him two 0:03:31.880 --> 0:03:33.760 more signs to show him that he's with him, that 0:03:33.800 --> 0:03:37.440 he's to perform in the palace before Pharaoh and in 0:03:37.560 --> 0:03:41.760 the desert before the Israelites. But Moses argues with God. 0:03:41.800 --> 0:03:44.520 He even tries to say, I'm not a very good speaker. 0:03:44.800 --> 0:03:45.400 How can I. 0:03:45.400 --> 0:03:47.880 Tell Pharaoh to let your people go when I'm not 0:03:47.960 --> 0:03:51.720 even eloquent? Well, the Lord said, I'm not asking you 0:03:51.800 --> 0:03:53.320 to take a speech clash. 0:03:53.480 --> 0:03:55.480 I'm asking you to take a faith step. 0:03:56.840 --> 0:03:59.640 Because I don't need your ability, I need your availability. 0:04:00.040 --> 0:04:04.920 Who is that for today? Right? Right? Right, right? 0:04:05.320 --> 0:04:07.160 But let me show you one more thing. When God 0:04:07.280 --> 0:04:09.440 tells Moses, well, I'm gonna give your brother Aaron. He's 0:04:09.480 --> 0:04:11.360 gonna help you. Since you can do it alone. 0:04:11.520 --> 0:04:13.440 I've already got your partner lined up. 0:04:13.640 --> 0:04:14.200 But watch this. 0:04:14.280 --> 0:04:17.560 In verse seventeen, he says, but take this staff in 0:04:17.600 --> 0:04:21.400 your hand so you can perform the signs with it. 0:04:21.520 --> 0:04:25.720 So you can perform the signs with it, and then 0:04:25.760 --> 0:04:28.279 go to verse nineteen. Now the Lord had said to 0:04:28.320 --> 0:04:30.039 Moses and Midian, and go back to Egypt, for all 0:04:30.040 --> 0:04:30.880 those who wanted. 0:04:30.640 --> 0:04:31.559 To kill you are dead. 0:04:32.279 --> 0:04:36.640 So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on 0:04:36.680 --> 0:04:41.760 a donkey, and started back to Egypt, and he took 0:04:42.720 --> 0:04:46.400 the staff of God in his hand. 0:04:47.320 --> 0:04:47.880 I love that. 0:04:48.400 --> 0:04:48.719 Today. 0:04:48.720 --> 0:04:50.960 The Lord told me to give you a word, and 0:04:51.000 --> 0:04:59.320 the word is this. It still works. It's still worse. Hallelujah. 0:04:59.400 --> 0:05:02.960 God woke me up this morning at four in the morning. 0:05:02.720 --> 0:05:07.680 And said, just get ready to tell somebody it still works. 0:05:08.480 --> 0:05:10.560 So I got good news for you today. 0:05:11.480 --> 0:05:14.400 In spite of what it is that has been reverberating 0:05:14.440 --> 0:05:17.719 in your ear causing you to fear, the Lord said, 0:05:17.760 --> 0:05:18.760 it still works. 0:05:20.040 --> 0:05:22.400 Touch all seven people you can reach and say it 0:05:22.600 --> 0:05:30.839 still works. It still works. It still works, and you 0:05:30.920 --> 0:05:34.679 may be seated on your way to your seat. Shout 0:05:34.760 --> 0:05:40.280 it still works, It still works. Let's talk about this 0:05:40.320 --> 0:05:45.640 for a moment. What a job? What a job? 0:05:46.800 --> 0:05:51.720 Right? We understand Moses's hesitation because we understand that. 0:05:51.680 --> 0:05:52.640 He's over his head. 0:05:53.800 --> 0:05:55.960 You mean you want me to go to the most 0:05:56.000 --> 0:05:59.480 powerful man in the world and tell him to let 0:05:59.480 --> 0:06:01.719 your people go, who have been in Egypt for four 0:06:01.800 --> 0:06:03.160 hundred and thirty years. 0:06:03.200 --> 0:06:06.159 Wow, we understand his hesitation. 0:06:07.400 --> 0:06:11.520 We have grace for Moses's need for clarification when he says, 0:06:12.160 --> 0:06:13.680 what if they don't believe in me? 0:06:14.920 --> 0:06:15.440 I mean, of. 0:06:15.440 --> 0:06:18.520 Course you would wonder that if they had rejected you 0:06:18.600 --> 0:06:22.520 forty years earlier. Do you remember how the story of 0:06:22.560 --> 0:06:26.880 Moses begins. He's put in a basket and he is 0:06:27.920 --> 0:06:33.520 discovered by Pharaoh's daughter, But he is raised as an Egyptian, 0:06:34.640 --> 0:06:38.480 So he is Egyptian by background, but he's Hebrew by birth. 0:06:38.520 --> 0:06:42.880 And this presents a conflict because to be an Egyptian 0:06:42.920 --> 0:06:44.680 is one thing, to be a Hebrew is another. 0:06:44.760 --> 0:06:45.799 But Moses is both. 0:06:46.920 --> 0:06:50.520 And because Moses is both, he is uniquely positioned to 0:06:50.600 --> 0:06:55.080 do this job. But Moses, like many of us, has 0:06:55.120 --> 0:06:59.039 been spending years of his life paying the price of 0:06:59.120 --> 0:07:02.040 regret for a misias that he made earlier with the 0:07:02.080 --> 0:07:05.479 passion that he did not know how to manage, because 0:07:05.520 --> 0:07:07.200 God had put it in his heart for a long 0:07:07.240 --> 0:07:09.920 time to help his people. But one day, when he 0:07:09.960 --> 0:07:13.520 saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave, he killed the 0:07:13.520 --> 0:07:16.600 Egyptian hit him in the sand. The next day, two 0:07:16.600 --> 0:07:19.080 Hebrews were fighting, and he said, why are y'all fighting? 0:07:19.280 --> 0:07:21.280 Y'all are supposed to be on the same side. 0:07:22.280 --> 0:07:24.640 I wish we could preach some of that in politics today, 0:07:24.760 --> 0:07:27.360 like I wish we could preach some of that in 0:07:27.400 --> 0:07:31.520 the church today. We're supposed to be on the same side. Really, 0:07:31.920 --> 0:07:33.640 y'all are fighting. And one of them turned to him 0:07:33.640 --> 0:07:35.440 with an attitude and said, you're going to kill me 0:07:35.480 --> 0:07:39.080 like you did the Egyptian. And Moses random Midian because 0:07:39.120 --> 0:07:41.000 he said what I did must have become known. 0:07:42.120 --> 0:07:43.840 And he ran and he ran, and he ran and 0:07:43.880 --> 0:07:44.440 he ran. 0:07:44.360 --> 0:07:45.400 Until a well appeared. 0:07:45.400 --> 0:07:48.600 And Moses's name means drawn out of water. And isn't 0:07:48.600 --> 0:07:51.880 it interesting that he met his wife drawing water for 0:07:52.040 --> 0:07:56.320 her from a well. He finds out that her father's 0:07:56.400 --> 0:07:59.520 name is Jethro, and he settles in tending. 0:07:59.240 --> 0:08:02.200 Sheep for Jethro. But now God has a job for. 0:08:02.320 --> 0:08:06.000 Moses that is bigger than Jethro. And God says, I 0:08:06.040 --> 0:08:08.640 need you to go, And Moses. 0:08:08.280 --> 0:08:12.920 Said, I don't know if they'll believe this. 0:08:13.160 --> 0:08:15.920 First of all, who am I to go to Pharaoh? 0:08:16.320 --> 0:08:19.240 And secondly, who are you? What do I tell them 0:08:19.280 --> 0:08:22.280 about all of this? So as we settle into the text, 0:08:22.320 --> 0:08:26.840 we understand that it's a mess because Moses is a 0:08:26.920 --> 0:08:30.880 murderer who's being turned into a messenger. And that's always 0:08:31.040 --> 0:08:33.960 messy when God gives you an assignment that contradicts your 0:08:34.000 --> 0:08:38.080 current understanding of your identity, because whenever God gives you 0:08:38.120 --> 0:08:40.960 something to do, you will try to overlay who you 0:08:41.240 --> 0:08:43.920 think you are onto what he's called you to do. 0:08:45.160 --> 0:08:48.200 But Moses is about to find out that God works 0:08:48.720 --> 0:08:53.040 in crazy ways. Now, as much as I respect Moses's 0:08:53.760 --> 0:08:56.560 decision to do what God called him to do, we 0:08:56.640 --> 0:08:59.440 need to be direct about the fact that he doubted God. 0:09:00.240 --> 0:09:03.640 He doubted God so much that God became angry with him. 0:09:03.720 --> 0:09:06.520 But God's anger did not cancel the assignment. 0:09:07.720 --> 0:09:11.640 God simply sent him forward in power as he leaned 0:09:11.679 --> 0:09:14.959 on his staff. I'm going to talk about the staff 0:09:15.000 --> 0:09:16.600 in a moment, But I want to make this personal. 0:09:16.640 --> 0:09:21.080 First of all. A few years ago, I had something 0:09:21.160 --> 0:09:23.320 that God had called me to do, and I became 0:09:23.480 --> 0:09:26.840 very intimidated about it, and I had a bad attitude 0:09:26.880 --> 0:09:30.760 about it, but I did it anyway. After I did it, 0:09:31.200 --> 0:09:34.320 I was driving home and God had so handled all 0:09:34.360 --> 0:09:36.160 the things that I was worried about. 0:09:36.720 --> 0:09:38.280 That I didn't even have to deal with them when 0:09:38.320 --> 0:09:38.800 I got there. 0:09:39.720 --> 0:09:43.280 So I felt grateful, but I also felt guilty because I. 0:09:43.240 --> 0:09:45.400 Had made it to be this huge thing in my mind. 0:09:45.440 --> 0:09:46.960 I mean, how many of you have done this before? 0:09:47.160 --> 0:09:50.280 I made it to be this huge thing in my mind, like, oh, 0:09:50.320 --> 0:09:51.920 I got to call my coach and tell him I'm 0:09:51.960 --> 0:09:53.560 not coming back next year, and my coach is going 0:09:53.600 --> 0:09:53.959 to kill me. 0:09:54.000 --> 0:09:54.719 Your coaches ain't going. 0:09:54.679 --> 0:09:56.199 To kill you. Your coach is just. 0:09:56.160 --> 0:09:57.600 Going to say thank you. But you make it out 0:09:57.600 --> 0:09:58.240 to be this. 0:09:58.440 --> 0:10:02.320 Huge thing in your mind. You make it out to 0:10:02.360 --> 0:10:04.400 be something so much bigger than it is. And then 0:10:04.440 --> 0:10:06.960 a lot of times God just deals with Jezebela and 0:10:07.000 --> 0:10:07.920 you never even have to. 0:10:10.160 --> 0:10:11.280 And it almost made. 0:10:11.080 --> 0:10:16.360 Me feel so guilty about my attitude that I couldn't 0:10:16.400 --> 0:10:19.080 even enjoy the achievement of doing the thing God had 0:10:19.080 --> 0:10:21.760 called me to do. It's like when you take your 0:10:21.800 --> 0:10:23.440 kids on a vacation, but now you're going to have 0:10:23.440 --> 0:10:24.800 to send them to therapy. 0:10:26.200 --> 0:10:28.400 To deal with the way that you acted on vacation. 0:10:29.120 --> 0:10:32.320 Come on, talk to me, Talk to me, or I'll prophesie. 0:10:35.040 --> 0:10:38.120 It's the feeling of like, God, I'm so sorry. So 0:10:38.200 --> 0:10:39.400 I was coming home in. 0:10:39.360 --> 0:10:42.000 My car and it just went so beautifully, but I 0:10:42.040 --> 0:10:44.439 had been so burdened about it, and I just felt 0:10:44.440 --> 0:10:46.760 bad about it, and I couldn't even enjoy how good 0:10:46.760 --> 0:10:48.880 it went because I felt so guilty. I was like, 0:10:48.880 --> 0:10:50.480 I had such a bad attitude. 0:10:50.520 --> 0:10:51.880 And the Lord showed me something. 0:10:52.120 --> 0:10:56.520 Sometimes great faith is taking the right action with a 0:10:56.520 --> 0:11:02.160 bad attitude. I'm gonna say it again for the note takers. 0:11:03.679 --> 0:11:08.840 Sometimes great faith is taking the right action with a 0:11:08.880 --> 0:11:12.080 bad attitude. And as I was praying to the Lord, 0:11:12.120 --> 0:11:14.040 I was like, I'm so sorry I had such a 0:11:14.040 --> 0:11:15.000 bad attitude. 0:11:15.800 --> 0:11:16.640 You took care of it. 0:11:16.679 --> 0:11:18.520 You handled it. I didn't even have to worry about it. God, 0:11:18.520 --> 0:11:20.680 I was so worried, I was so stressed. I complained 0:11:20.679 --> 0:11:22.320 so much, and then you just did it. And I'm 0:11:22.360 --> 0:11:25.800 so sorry God that I doubted you. And it was 0:11:25.880 --> 0:11:29.240 like the Lord spoke to me. He said, you're embarrassed 0:11:29.880 --> 0:11:39.160 because you doubted. I'm proud because you did it. I 0:11:39.160 --> 0:11:40.800 don't know who is for, but the heart of the 0:11:40.840 --> 0:11:43.800 Father wanted to say that to you today, that you 0:11:43.840 --> 0:11:47.680 have been beating yourself up so much about your doubts 0:11:48.520 --> 0:11:51.560 that you are not even celebrating how much you have 0:11:51.679 --> 0:11:54.720 done and how far you have come and how many 0:11:54.800 --> 0:11:58.240 ways you have changed, because all you keep focusing on 0:11:58.400 --> 0:12:00.840 is God. I'm so sorry that I had such a 0:12:00.880 --> 0:12:03.600 bad attitude God. I'm so sorry that I blew up 0:12:03.600 --> 0:12:05.400 at the kids like that. Well, at least you didn't 0:12:05.480 --> 0:12:07.280 kill them. I mean, at least they're still here. And 0:12:07.559 --> 0:12:09.280 the Bible says if you train up a child and 0:12:09.320 --> 0:12:10.880 the way that they should go when they're old, they 0:12:10.920 --> 0:12:13.079 won't depart from it. That means all you got to 0:12:13.160 --> 0:12:14.880 do is not kill them, and God will fix it. 0:12:15.080 --> 0:12:19.640 In the meantime. Just let them live. Somebody shall let 0:12:19.679 --> 0:12:22.920 them live. And some days that's all you can do 0:12:23.760 --> 0:12:26.640 is just to say, hey, I didn't do that perfectly, 0:12:27.080 --> 0:12:29.920 but I did it. The first point of my message 0:12:29.920 --> 0:12:35.040 is sometimes you've got to do it doubting. Sometimes you've 0:12:35.080 --> 0:12:38.560 got to do it. Doubting notice in the text that 0:12:38.640 --> 0:12:43.760 Moses's first response to the assignment is not gratitude. Moses's 0:12:43.800 --> 0:12:46.600 first response to the assignment is not to receive it, 0:12:47.000 --> 0:12:49.720 but to run. And just in case, you're dealing with 0:12:49.800 --> 0:12:52.160 something in your life right now and you're looking at 0:12:52.160 --> 0:12:54.280 it like a snake on the ground that God has 0:12:54.280 --> 0:12:55.400 told you to grab by the. 0:12:55.440 --> 0:12:58.520 Tail, that's okay. It is natural to. 0:12:58.600 --> 0:13:01.719 Run from something that you have never seen in this 0:13:01.840 --> 0:13:05.760 form before. And I am concerned that you are beating 0:13:05.800 --> 0:13:09.040 yourself so much up about your fear that you have 0:13:09.080 --> 0:13:12.520 not properly contextualized the magnitude of the. 0:13:12.400 --> 0:13:14.840 Faith that it took for you to be where you are. 0:13:19.400 --> 0:13:20.360 I don't to tell me one time. 0:13:20.400 --> 0:13:21.880 I don't like when I go to church when the 0:13:21.920 --> 0:13:24.000 preacher just tells me I'm doing good. It makes me 0:13:24.080 --> 0:13:26.360 feel good. I just need the preacher to step on 0:13:26.440 --> 0:13:28.880 my toes, you know. Man, just slap me in the face. Man, 0:13:29.040 --> 0:13:32.240 just spank me a little bit. I'm like, dude, I 0:13:32.280 --> 0:13:35.480 don't that's not my gig. I don't know what you 0:13:35.920 --> 0:13:38.280 need to call somebody else for all that you just mentioned. 0:13:39.679 --> 0:13:44.200 And Mae, may maybe it's because everything I ever did 0:13:44.280 --> 0:13:44.800 for God. 0:13:45.000 --> 0:13:52.000 I did it doubting. Every sermon I ever preached to you. 0:13:52.080 --> 0:13:56.280 My hands were shaken while I held my pen. And 0:13:56.360 --> 0:13:58.320 I'll show you my handwriting and you'll believe me. 0:13:58.400 --> 0:14:02.040 Then you'll say, Pastor Stephen would have been a serial 0:14:02.120 --> 0:14:04.280 killer in another life. Look at that handwriting. You'd be 0:14:04.280 --> 0:14:09.680 psychoanalyzing me. No, it's because I had to do it doubting. Yeah, 0:14:10.640 --> 0:14:13.080 you know, Graham, I think Exodus for to one is 0:14:13.160 --> 0:14:16.560 my whole preaching life verse, because this is the verse 0:14:16.600 --> 0:14:18.240 that I felt the most preaching up here. 0:14:18.920 --> 0:14:20.840 What if they don't believe me or listen to me? 0:14:23.440 --> 0:14:26.160 I wish my biggest preaching verse was Isaiah six, Ay 0:14:27.240 --> 0:14:30.880 here am I send me? But really my preaching verse 0:14:30.960 --> 0:14:32.880 how I feel is what if they don't believe me 0:14:33.000 --> 0:14:33.640 or listen to me? 0:14:34.320 --> 0:14:34.440 Now? 0:14:34.440 --> 0:14:36.200 I want to start this sermon this way because I'm 0:14:36.200 --> 0:14:39.240 going to encourage you in a moment about the things 0:14:39.240 --> 0:14:41.760 in your life that look impossible to you right now. 0:14:42.480 --> 0:14:45.840 Let me be less vague than that, the current thing 0:14:46.600 --> 0:14:50.520 in your life that you are doubting about. I don't 0:14:50.520 --> 0:14:53.080 even necessarily mean you're doubting God. You might just be 0:14:53.160 --> 0:14:58.600 doubting you. I don't even mean that you doubt that 0:14:58.640 --> 0:15:00.920 God is good. I just mean that you feel like 0:15:01.000 --> 0:15:03.960 you are not good enough. And everything that I have 0:15:04.120 --> 0:15:06.200 ever done for God, I have never. 0:15:06.040 --> 0:15:09.360 Felt good enough to do. So do with that way. 0:15:09.360 --> 0:15:11.600 You will judge me if you. 0:15:11.560 --> 0:15:14.560 Want to make fun of me, if you want tell 0:15:14.600 --> 0:15:17.440 me that I should have more confidence in Christ, if 0:15:17.480 --> 0:15:18.000 you must. 0:15:18.760 --> 0:15:20.240 But everything I ever. 0:15:20.120 --> 0:15:21.720 Did for God, I did it doubting. 0:15:22.560 --> 0:15:24.880 Every song I ever wrote from the Lord I did 0:15:24.920 --> 0:15:28.960 feeling like a bad singer. Every chord I ever strummed 0:15:28.960 --> 0:15:31.040 to write a hymn for our church to sing, I 0:15:31.080 --> 0:15:33.760 did it wishing that I knew more music theory. You 0:15:33.760 --> 0:15:37.000 don't understand what I'm saying. Everything I ever did for God. 0:15:37.160 --> 0:15:39.320 Every time I ever played back one of my preaching 0:15:39.320 --> 0:15:41.680 clips and listen to it, I had to cringe to 0:15:41.680 --> 0:15:43.720 find the clip because I didn't even like the way 0:15:43.720 --> 0:15:44.360 I sounded. 0:15:45.440 --> 0:15:48.440 Everything I ever did for God, I did it doubting, 0:15:49.320 --> 0:15:52.120 but I did it. But I did it. 0:15:53.240 --> 0:15:57.760 And sometimes great faith is not eliminating doubt. It is 0:15:57.920 --> 0:16:01.680 looking at doubt right in them face and telling doubt. 0:16:02.040 --> 0:16:04.640 You can sit in the passenger. 0:16:04.160 --> 0:16:09.120 Seat, but you can't drive because we're doing this high five. 0:16:09.280 --> 0:16:12.880 Somebody say, I'm doing this. There's a whole word in 0:16:12.920 --> 0:16:16.000 this right now. Do it doubting, but do it. Do 0:16:16.080 --> 0:16:19.560 it afraid, but do it. Do it with suicidal thoughts, 0:16:19.800 --> 0:16:20.440 but do it. 0:16:20.680 --> 0:16:23.080 Live another day, thinking you don't deserve to be on 0:16:23.120 --> 0:16:26.920 the earth. But live another day. Take another breath. Feeling anxious, 0:16:27.080 --> 0:16:28.280 but take another breath. 0:16:28.480 --> 0:16:30.960 Give God a praise, not feeling a goose moump. But 0:16:31.080 --> 0:16:33.920 lift your hands. Lift your hands with your shoulder hurting, 0:16:34.160 --> 0:16:37.120 but lift your hands. Lift your hands with a back back, 0:16:37.400 --> 0:16:43.320 but lift your hands. Do it. And I'll tell you something. 0:16:43.680 --> 0:16:48.360 Worship will work whether you feel it or not. I said, 0:16:48.480 --> 0:16:54.000 worship will work, whether you feel it or not. Tell 0:16:54.040 --> 0:16:59.400 somebody it'll work. It'll work. Worship still works. Worship still 0:16:59.440 --> 0:17:02.040 works when it's the middle of the night and there's 0:17:02.080 --> 0:17:05.119 nobody around to listen to you cry, and you cry 0:17:05.160 --> 0:17:08.920 out to God saying, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead 0:17:09.000 --> 0:17:12.320 me to the rock that is higher than I It'll work. 0:17:13.600 --> 0:17:19.399 It'll work, yeah, And I know it will work because 0:17:19.440 --> 0:17:22.240 the people of God in Exodus chapter four had been 0:17:22.320 --> 0:17:26.520 enslaved for four centuries, and Moses has been in exile 0:17:26.800 --> 0:17:32.040 for four decades. But this text pops up into the 0:17:32.080 --> 0:17:36.200 transitional moment to remind us that it still works. 0:17:37.480 --> 0:17:40.919 Because God said to Moses, watched this. The cries of 0:17:41.000 --> 0:17:44.440 my people have reached heaven. Was He's saying, I heard. 0:17:45.800 --> 0:17:46.240 I heard. 0:17:47.359 --> 0:17:50.000 And even as the burdens of the people grew heavier, 0:17:50.080 --> 0:17:54.880 God says, I heard. See you think when it doesn't happen. 0:17:54.680 --> 0:17:55.440 God didn't hear. 0:17:57.080 --> 0:17:59.920 So for all of those years that Moses tended sheep, 0:18:00.119 --> 0:18:02.720 been thought it's over, I blew it. For all those 0:18:02.840 --> 0:18:04.720 years that you thought, if I could just go back 0:18:04.720 --> 0:18:05.760 and do it different, I would. 0:18:05.960 --> 0:18:08.640 For all those years that you have thought it was over. 0:18:08.720 --> 0:18:11.920 For all those years that they prayed, the people pray, 0:18:12.400 --> 0:18:16.320 God send us a deliverer. God send us asign. God 0:18:16.520 --> 0:18:20.960 set us free. God came down to Moses to say 0:18:21.240 --> 0:18:25.240 it worked. So I want to remind you today that 0:18:25.280 --> 0:18:29.119 your prayers aren't pointless, even if you don't have proof 0:18:29.200 --> 0:18:33.600 that they're heard. Please write that down and put it 0:18:33.600 --> 0:18:35.800 somewhere you can see it when the enemy tries to 0:18:35.800 --> 0:18:38.280 tell you it's not working this week. My prayers are 0:18:38.280 --> 0:18:41.679 not pointless, even if I have no proof they have 0:18:41.760 --> 0:18:42.240 been heard. 0:18:43.640 --> 0:18:46.560 God might be multitasking some things in your life right now. 0:18:47.400 --> 0:18:48.920 God might be setting some things. 0:18:48.800 --> 0:18:51.040 Up for a generation from now that you don't know about. 0:18:52.359 --> 0:18:53.960 God might need you to help somebody in the. 0:18:53.880 --> 0:18:55.439 Future, So you gotta go through hell right now so 0:18:55.480 --> 0:18:56.280 you can help them later. 0:18:56.359 --> 0:18:59.879 God heards you. Oh, I feel annoying today, and I'm not. 0:19:00.119 --> 0:19:02.640 I'm not even saying I'm not even saying. 0:19:02.400 --> 0:19:04.040 I'm annoying for everybody in the room. 0:19:04.280 --> 0:19:07.440 Maybe just for three people, maybe for three hundred, maybe 0:19:07.480 --> 0:19:10.119 for somebody in the back, maybe for somebody in overflow. 0:19:10.359 --> 0:19:14.880 But the Lord said, it's not pointless. My prayers are 0:19:14.880 --> 0:19:21.520 not pointless because my God has a plan. Keep praying 0:19:21.560 --> 0:19:25.480 for your babies, Keep praying about what's going on that 0:19:25.560 --> 0:19:28.200 the doctors can't figure out. Keep praying about it. It's 0:19:28.240 --> 0:19:33.159 not pointless. This is what Exodus for teaches me is 0:19:33.160 --> 0:19:38.240 that God's lack of activity does not mean God's absence. 0:19:40.400 --> 0:19:42.720 And just because He is not active in the way 0:19:42.800 --> 0:19:44.440 that I have prescribed for him to be. 0:19:44.480 --> 0:19:48.439 Does not mean his purpose isn't working. It still works. 0:19:50.000 --> 0:19:50.480 Say it again. 0:19:50.520 --> 0:19:51.240 It still works. 0:19:52.760 --> 0:19:55.120 This sermon has three points, but it's really only one point. 0:19:55.240 --> 0:19:59.480 It still works. And even if you do it doubting, 0:19:59.520 --> 0:19:59.840 it works. 0:20:00.200 --> 0:20:02.119 Isn't it just amazing that if you go in the 0:20:02.119 --> 0:20:05.000 weight room and lift weights, and you lift them hard enough, 0:20:05.040 --> 0:20:06.879 you'll get stronger whether you wanted to go in the 0:20:06.880 --> 0:20:10.520 weight room or not, because it still works if you 0:20:10.520 --> 0:20:11.119 didn't want to. 0:20:13.240 --> 0:20:16.560 Isn't that the case? Is that true? 0:20:17.080 --> 0:20:19.040 If I put my body under the right amount of stress, 0:20:19.080 --> 0:20:20.320 with the right form, for the right amount of time 0:20:20.359 --> 0:20:22.399 under tension, my body will respond to that, whether or 0:20:22.440 --> 0:20:24.119 not I had the feeling and the motivation that I 0:20:24.119 --> 0:20:24.840 wanted to do it. 0:20:27.920 --> 0:20:30.040 Bodily exercised, profited little. 0:20:30.400 --> 0:20:35.040 But godliness has great value and it means that it 0:20:35.160 --> 0:20:38.840 still works. Come to church, listen, go, I didn't get 0:20:38.840 --> 0:20:40.679 anything out of that. Well, first of all, that's your 0:20:40.680 --> 0:20:44.080 fault because I study. 0:20:44.359 --> 0:20:48.040 But secondly, you don't even know that yet. What if 0:20:48.080 --> 0:20:48.480 it worked? 0:20:48.480 --> 0:20:49.560 What if it went in like. 0:20:49.520 --> 0:20:51.160 A seed and it's going to come up like an 0:20:51.200 --> 0:20:55.160 oak at a later season in your life? 0:20:55.960 --> 0:20:58.480 It still works. It still works. 0:20:58.680 --> 0:21:02.080 Now you may go through er, but every winter yields 0:21:02.119 --> 0:21:02.560 to spring. 0:21:02.760 --> 0:21:03.520 It still works. 0:21:05.240 --> 0:21:07.119 I can't hardly get off a point number one, and 0:21:07.200 --> 0:21:09.880 I don't know why. There must be somebody in here 0:21:09.880 --> 0:21:11.880 who needed to be reminded that you can do it 0:21:12.600 --> 0:21:18.679 doubting that you can pray with chains still on your feet, 0:21:20.280 --> 0:21:25.360 you can praise with shackles still on your hands. Ask 0:21:25.520 --> 0:21:29.960 Paul and Silas, I said, Ask Paul and Silas. They 0:21:30.000 --> 0:21:33.200 were fastened in the inner cell. That's the hardest place 0:21:33.280 --> 0:21:36.159 to get out of. But ask Paul and Silas. If 0:21:36.200 --> 0:21:39.840 you sing it midnight, even when you don't see anything happening, 0:21:40.200 --> 0:21:42.520 even when you have no proof that the chains are 0:21:42.600 --> 0:21:46.560 starting to weaken, if you will worship in this situation, and. 0:21:46.600 --> 0:21:48.919 I'm saying in this moment right now. 0:21:48.960 --> 0:21:52.119 I double dog dare you to throw up your hands 0:21:52.119 --> 0:21:52.840 and open. 0:21:52.640 --> 0:21:56.040 Your mouth and say, do it. God. I praise you God, 0:21:56.160 --> 0:21:59.800 because you're good God, and you're worthy God, and you're mighty. 0:21:59.560 --> 0:22:02.960 God, and your Holy God had it works if you 0:22:03.119 --> 0:22:13.040 worked it. So sometimes you have to do it doubting. 0:22:14.320 --> 0:22:17.560 And number two, sometimes you have to do it delayed. 0:22:19.560 --> 0:22:22.800 Delayed. Do you know what I mean by delayed? 0:22:22.960 --> 0:22:26.159 God asks you to do something on this Tuesday that 0:22:26.240 --> 0:22:30.119 is only going to make sense in two years. Or 0:22:30.320 --> 0:22:33.679 maybe I could say, like this, God tells you to 0:22:33.720 --> 0:22:34.960 pick up a snake. 0:22:36.119 --> 0:22:37.200 By the tail. 0:22:38.600 --> 0:22:42.160 That is the exact wrong way, not that I've ever 0:22:42.200 --> 0:22:46.000 picked up snakes, although there is probably some account that 0:22:46.000 --> 0:22:48.000 says we do it every Sunday in our church along 0:22:48.040 --> 0:22:50.760 with our baptism water slide that we have that I've 0:22:50.840 --> 0:22:56.240 never seen before except photoshop. But I never did it. 0:22:57.280 --> 0:22:58.560 But I know if I did it, I wouldn't do 0:22:58.560 --> 0:23:02.440 it like that. I wouldn't do it like that. But see, 0:23:02.520 --> 0:23:04.840 this is the pattern. Let me appreciate. This is what 0:23:04.920 --> 0:23:08.320 God is trying to show Moses. Is that like I 0:23:08.520 --> 0:23:13.040 grab you the way I want to, I grab you 0:23:13.080 --> 0:23:15.920 in a way that doesn't make sense. I use things 0:23:15.920 --> 0:23:19.160 that don't make sense to get your attention. Please write 0:23:19.200 --> 0:23:24.000 this down. God's sovereign plan does not always make practical sense. 0:23:26.400 --> 0:23:29.280 God's sovereign plan. 0:23:29.920 --> 0:23:33.560 The plan that he has marked out before time began. Remember, 0:23:33.880 --> 0:23:37.920 God was working this deliverance narrative in his people's life 0:23:38.320 --> 0:23:41.159 to foreshadow the work that Jesus Christ would do on 0:23:41.200 --> 0:23:45.000 the cross, so that when Jesus would show up, he 0:23:45.040 --> 0:23:49.800 would lead not only through the cross that he died on, 0:23:50.160 --> 0:23:52.520 but through the life that he lived. He would lead 0:23:52.640 --> 0:23:56.199 us to freedom as our true Moses. Knowing that we 0:23:56.320 --> 0:24:00.000 understand that God is working things out in a way 0:24:00.040 --> 0:24:05.480 seem weird to us, and I'm at the point in 0:24:05.520 --> 0:24:13.879 my life where I'm willing to be weird if it works. 0:24:16.560 --> 0:24:17.760 You know what I'm saying. 0:24:19.320 --> 0:24:22.800 Now, in order to grab this snake by the tail, 0:24:23.240 --> 0:24:25.800 Because just imagine this, Moses is like. 0:24:26.280 --> 0:24:28.159 All right, you want me to do what? 0:24:28.800 --> 0:24:29.240 Okay? 0:24:29.640 --> 0:24:31.960 No, and he runs and. 0:24:31.920 --> 0:24:33.840 He resists for a little while. 0:24:33.840 --> 0:24:38.200 But remember great faith sometimes is doing it delayed. 0:24:39.760 --> 0:24:40.119 Okay. 0:24:40.600 --> 0:24:44.040 So he wastes some time not only running from the snake, 0:24:44.240 --> 0:24:48.520 but he's been forty years running from his assignment forty years. 0:24:49.840 --> 0:24:52.600 And God shows up to say, I'm gonna do it 0:24:52.640 --> 0:24:56.720 through you anyway. I break the spirit of activation over 0:24:56.760 --> 0:24:59.000 your life that has told you it's too late. I 0:24:59.040 --> 0:25:01.640 break the spirit of actization over your life that says 0:25:01.680 --> 0:25:03.960 you can't get it back. I break the spirit of 0:25:04.000 --> 0:25:07.120 condemnation over your life that says that you cannot become. 0:25:07.119 --> 0:25:08.399 What God has called you to be. 0:25:08.960 --> 0:25:12.119 I break the spirit of condemnation that tries to stamp 0:25:12.160 --> 0:25:15.800 you with your worst mistake. Because the life of Moses 0:25:15.880 --> 0:25:19.680 tells me that my past mistake is not. 0:25:19.800 --> 0:25:23.960 My permanent verdict. That's what it shows me. 0:25:24.720 --> 0:25:27.359 And when I say past mistake, I mean it could 0:25:27.359 --> 0:25:30.400 be five years ago, it could be five minutes ago, 0:25:30.840 --> 0:25:33.800 but that will not define me because God has a 0:25:33.840 --> 0:25:36.600 plan for me. God has a plan for the things 0:25:36.640 --> 0:25:39.160 I did right. God has a plan for the things 0:25:39.200 --> 0:25:42.200 I did wrong. God has a plan for my doubts, 0:25:42.280 --> 0:25:44.199 just as much as God has a plan for my 0:25:44.480 --> 0:25:48.280 bold declarations of faith. And Moses picks up the snake 0:25:48.400 --> 0:25:49.680 by the tail, but. 0:25:49.840 --> 0:25:51.840 Not at first. 0:25:52.280 --> 0:25:55.720 And Moses is used as a messenger, but before he's 0:25:55.760 --> 0:25:57.040 a messenger. 0:25:56.760 --> 0:25:57.680 He's a murderer. 0:25:57.840 --> 0:26:00.240 And I just want to remind you that God makes 0:26:00.320 --> 0:26:06.840 all things beautiful in his time, and sometimes you've got 0:26:06.840 --> 0:26:09.959 to do it on a delay and just pray stuff 0:26:10.000 --> 0:26:12.480 like God, I pray that you would make up for 0:26:12.520 --> 0:26:15.720 the time that I wasted. God, I pray that you 0:26:15.760 --> 0:26:19.160 would put me on an accelerated course. God, I pray 0:26:19.160 --> 0:26:20.480 that you will put me in summer school so I 0:26:20.520 --> 0:26:21.960 can graduate with all my friends. 0:26:22.359 --> 0:26:24.199 God, I pray that you will just give me the 0:26:24.240 --> 0:26:26.080 grace God. And God says, okay. 0:26:27.080 --> 0:26:30.159 Because once Moses got on the same page with God, 0:26:30.840 --> 0:26:33.639 it only took ten plagues for God to do what 0:26:33.760 --> 0:26:36.280 he was going to do. It's not going to take 0:26:36.320 --> 0:26:39.080 as long as you think it's going to take. It's 0:26:39.119 --> 0:26:41.840 not going to take everything you think is going to take, 0:26:42.160 --> 0:26:46.080 because sometimes God does it on a delay, and that 0:26:46.119 --> 0:26:48.880 means you've got to praise him in advance in case 0:26:48.920 --> 0:26:49.640 he does it on. 0:26:49.560 --> 0:26:53.560 Delay, because you don't know, you don't know. 0:26:55.400 --> 0:27:00.199 The Lord annointed me to preach today that sometimes do 0:27:00.240 --> 0:27:02.320 it on a delay. 0:27:03.119 --> 0:27:07.640 Do it on a delay. I mean, we all get 0:27:07.640 --> 0:27:08.480 stuck in the past. 0:27:08.600 --> 0:27:12.159 Sometimes I've been stuck in the past. 0:27:11.920 --> 0:27:16.800 A lot lately, just in a fun way. Actually, I've 0:27:16.840 --> 0:27:26.199 been going around buying records, records, albums, LPs, vinyl. 0:27:27.920 --> 0:27:28.760 I probably bought. 0:27:28.560 --> 0:27:31.320 About three hundred in the last year. 0:27:32.440 --> 0:27:33.640 Is getting ridiculous. 0:27:34.320 --> 0:27:36.880 Now, I'm gonna tell you why it's getting ridiculous because 0:27:36.920 --> 0:27:40.879 I already had all that stuff on my phone and 0:27:40.920 --> 0:27:43.960 now I'm spending money on what I already subscribed to. 0:27:43.960 --> 0:27:44.840 Spotify to hear. 0:27:45.760 --> 0:27:49.760 But it's something comforting about it. So you know, I've 0:27:49.800 --> 0:27:51.640 been buying records. Now, I want you to think I'm 0:27:51.640 --> 0:27:54.760 older than I am. When I grew up, records were 0:27:54.760 --> 0:27:57.440 on the way out. We had to set tapes and 0:27:57.480 --> 0:28:02.840 then get ready to shout. Every boomer in the house, 0:28:03.000 --> 0:28:07.120 just shout right now, jen X, just shout right now. 0:28:07.760 --> 0:28:11.760 Everybody makes annoyed because your hands up. If you knowable 0:28:12.000 --> 0:28:12.520 a hands a. 0:28:13.760 --> 0:28:15.800 Now you may say to me, like the Lord said 0:28:15.800 --> 0:28:18.119 to Moses, what is that in your hand? 0:28:20.080 --> 0:28:21.640 Come here, Graham, come here, Come, come, come and cover? 0:28:22.000 --> 0:28:28.399 All right, this is a boom box. And not only that, 0:28:30.080 --> 0:28:37.520 but this is a signo boom box with a cassette deck. 0:28:38.400 --> 0:28:44.280 And everybody say, and because Moses was a Hebrew and 0:28:44.480 --> 0:28:52.280 an Egyptian, this is a cassette and CD player. This 0:28:52.480 --> 0:28:57.640 is the first CD player that I ever own. But 0:28:57.760 --> 0:29:00.840 this is not the original because I got rid of 0:29:00.880 --> 0:29:04.720 mine because I thought it was obsolete. Sometimes you need 0:29:04.760 --> 0:29:09.720 to hang around with your old stuff, and sometimes you 0:29:09.720 --> 0:29:12.520 need to be careful not selling something that you might 0:29:12.560 --> 0:29:13.600 want to buy back later. 0:29:14.640 --> 0:29:15.440 Because I went on. 0:29:15.440 --> 0:29:21.080 eBay and I found this exact model of the boom box, 0:29:21.800 --> 0:29:24.440 and I plugged it in and the lights came on, 0:29:25.360 --> 0:29:27.920 and I got excited, and I put. 0:29:27.680 --> 0:29:29.440 The CD in because I've been buying those two. 0:29:30.120 --> 0:29:31.840 I only bought about one hundred of those in the 0:29:31.880 --> 0:29:34.200 last year, but I've been buying those two. I don't 0:29:34.200 --> 0:29:36.080 know if midlife is just stressing me out to the 0:29:36.120 --> 0:29:38.440 point that I just need ever escape about Hey, there 0:29:38.480 --> 0:29:42.280 are worse midlife crisises than CDs and wreckers. 0:29:42.600 --> 0:29:45.360 So if I keep it the vinyl, I'm doing very good. 0:29:46.080 --> 0:29:51.920 I'm doing Tell somebody he's doing very good. I'm doing 0:29:51.960 --> 0:29:52.480 really good. 0:29:53.000 --> 0:29:56.080 And I turned it on and I put the CD 0:29:56.120 --> 0:30:04.600 in and it didn't work. It didn't work, But I mean, 0:30:04.640 --> 0:30:08.040 what else would you expect. It's been around since nineteen 0:30:08.160 --> 0:30:11.240 ninety four. Who knows what kind of devil music has 0:30:11.240 --> 0:30:12.840 been played in this machine? 0:30:13.640 --> 0:30:16.280 The Lord shut it down. It didn't work. 0:30:19.320 --> 0:30:21.200 And just as I was about to put it up 0:30:21.280 --> 0:30:25.280 because it was no refunds, the seller told me that upfront. 0:30:26.680 --> 0:30:28.040 Forty bucks is gone. 0:30:28.160 --> 0:30:33.680 I remember that just because one thing doesn't work, hold it. 0:30:33.680 --> 0:30:38.920 Up doesn't mean it's worthless. So I went and found 0:30:39.480 --> 0:30:40.280 a cassette. 0:30:40.520 --> 0:30:42.320 I've been collecting those too lately. 0:30:43.280 --> 0:30:43.600 Huh. 0:30:44.480 --> 0:30:48.000 Sometimes you got to reach back to where God brought 0:30:48.000 --> 0:30:52.280 you from. And I found a cassette. 0:30:51.840 --> 0:31:01.000 Tape from Jackson Memorial Baptist Church eight nine son, my 0:31:01.040 --> 0:31:02.000 eyes are messing up. 0:31:02.000 --> 0:31:02.680 Read that for me. 0:31:02.640 --> 0:31:08.040 Three eight nine three one Highway eleven, Campa Bello, South Carolina, 0:31:09.680 --> 0:31:14.720 two nine three two two, And it says Stephen October 0:31:14.760 --> 0:31:18.880 twenty ninth, the year two thousand I'll tell you about 0:31:18.960 --> 0:31:21.200 y two k later, we almost lost everything. 0:31:23.320 --> 0:31:25.840 You think the Red Sea was a miracle, the wait 0:31:25.880 --> 0:31:27.560 until I tell you about why two k? 0:31:27.760 --> 0:31:31.160 Boy, when I tell you what the Lord did for 0:31:31.240 --> 0:31:34.600 us in y two K and I put it in 0:31:36.040 --> 0:31:39.000 and at first I started to cringe because listen, listen 0:31:39.040 --> 0:31:42.560 to me preaching in the year two thousand in Campa Beello, 0:31:42.760 --> 0:31:46.280 South Carolina. You've heard me preaching California, but you never 0:31:46.320 --> 0:31:49.640 heard my annoying work in Campabello. But I want you 0:31:49.680 --> 0:31:54.280 to understand that the same anointing that works in California 0:31:54.880 --> 0:31:58.480 was work, was work, Oh, was working in Campabello. 0:31:58.800 --> 0:32:00.520 Listen to this with mine. 0:32:01.920 --> 0:32:03.000 I'm just seeing. 0:32:04.000 --> 0:32:05.160 Can y'all hear that about? 0:32:05.800 --> 0:32:06.680 I mean, it's good. 0:32:06.560 --> 0:32:09.240 Enough, That's that's my mentality nowadays. 0:32:09.320 --> 0:32:11.480 It's good enough. Hey, it might not be the way 0:32:11.520 --> 0:32:11.960 I like you. 0:32:12.160 --> 0:32:14.520 It might not be my personal preference, the preacher might 0:32:14.560 --> 0:32:15.440 not be making a fit. 0:32:15.320 --> 0:32:17.600 Of sense to be, but it's good enough. And I'm 0:32:17.640 --> 0:32:18.440 gonna take some notes and. 0:32:18.440 --> 0:32:19.760 I'm gonna learn what I can from it. 0:32:19.800 --> 0:32:22.120 Because praise is a privilege. It's a privilege to be 0:32:22.160 --> 0:32:24.560 a church. Yes, it is a privilege. 0:32:25.720 --> 0:32:26.440 To be in this church. 0:32:26.480 --> 0:32:27.320 With you guys this morning. 0:32:27.760 --> 0:32:32.560 Yeah, now the single amen. But I was preaching. 0:32:34.440 --> 0:32:38.240 About fifteen people in the church, but I was preaching. 0:32:39.680 --> 0:32:43.480 I didn't know anything I was talking about, but I 0:32:43.600 --> 0:32:47.640 was preaching. We were all stucking up on bottled water 0:32:47.960 --> 0:32:52.040 and Ramen noodles for the apocalypse to come. But I 0:32:52.160 --> 0:32:55.920 was preaching, and I wonder, did the Lord want to 0:32:55.960 --> 0:32:59.960 give us a message today from this cassette tape from 0:33:00.120 --> 0:33:04.680 a boombox? That didn't work, But it did work with 0:33:04.760 --> 0:33:07.520 a word that I have been preaching because I realized 0:33:07.600 --> 0:33:12.160 listen to myself preaching with a country accent in Campobello, 0:33:12.320 --> 0:33:15.920 South Carolina, in twenty twenty six, that I have been 0:33:15.960 --> 0:33:20.560 preaching the same book for thirty years, and I preached 0:33:20.600 --> 0:33:23.960 it with twang, and I've preached it in small spaces, 0:33:24.160 --> 0:33:26.720 and I preached it on tapes, and I preached it 0:33:26.760 --> 0:33:30.240 on CDs, and I preached it on podcasts, and i 0:33:30.360 --> 0:33:33.440 preached it on YouTube, and I've preached it on Roku, 0:33:33.760 --> 0:33:36.480 and I've preached it on Apple TV. And I've been 0:33:36.520 --> 0:33:38.040 preaching one book and. 0:33:38.040 --> 0:33:41.400 Believe in one book for thirty years. And I came 0:33:41.480 --> 0:33:42.480 to an ounce. 0:33:42.560 --> 0:33:48.040 It's still worse. I said it still worse. I said, 0:33:48.080 --> 0:33:54.760 it still worse. Fakes still worse. Fake still works, Grace 0:33:54.960 --> 0:34:01.840 still works, Gratitude still works, Hallylujas still worse. Thank you 0:34:02.080 --> 0:34:08.080 Jesus still works. It still works. If you know what 0:34:08.120 --> 0:34:11.960 I'm talking about, wave your hand and say it works 0:34:12.000 --> 0:34:18.319 for me. It's been working for me a long time, and. 0:34:18.360 --> 0:34:21.600 It's still worse. Is still worse. 0:34:22.440 --> 0:34:25.000 I got some doubts I didn't have then, but it 0:34:25.200 --> 0:34:28.879 still works. I got some unanswered questions, but. 0:34:28.920 --> 0:34:32.400 It still worse. My faith is not having the answer. 0:34:32.840 --> 0:34:35.160 My faith is putting my hand in the hand of 0:34:35.239 --> 0:34:38.200 a man who does is still worse. 0:34:41.760 --> 0:34:42.560 Y'all, don't get it. 0:34:43.400 --> 0:34:47.560 I'm trying to say that the method has changed, but 0:34:47.680 --> 0:34:55.319 the message is the same, is still worse. And I'm 0:34:55.360 --> 0:34:58.719 trying to say, don't let what doesn't work in your 0:34:58.800 --> 0:35:05.600 life keep you from using what does. And I'm trying 0:35:05.760 --> 0:35:11.839 to say that what God gave you then is good 0:35:11.960 --> 0:35:14.160 enough to get you through. 0:35:14.560 --> 0:35:17.280 Where's my bad? What's that going through now? 0:35:18.840 --> 0:35:26.680 So tell somebody it'll work, It'll work, It'll work, it'll work. 0:35:30.520 --> 0:35:33.040 Won't it work? 0:35:34.280 --> 0:35:37.799 I said, won't it work? Not if you don't work it. 0:35:41.239 --> 0:35:42.839 If you're like this is weird. 0:35:45.280 --> 0:35:47.120 Thank you. Sit down and take the boom box with you. 0:35:49.560 --> 0:35:53.080 Take that staff with you, so when you get to Egypt, 0:35:53.880 --> 0:35:56.600 you can throw it on the ground and watch what 0:35:56.719 --> 0:35:59.600 it'll become. Throw it on the ground. See, now, give 0:35:59.600 --> 0:36:01.160 me the kick set tape back. I want to show 0:36:01.200 --> 0:36:04.479 this all the way. I heard a testimony the other day, 0:36:05.239 --> 0:36:13.360 and we always say, we always say God, helthous Jesus. 0:36:16.480 --> 0:36:18.120 I never said I was a good dad. 0:36:18.200 --> 0:36:21.719 I never said I taught my kids important things. You 0:36:21.840 --> 0:36:23.719 can't open the cassette tape. 0:36:24.040 --> 0:36:26.680 How you gonna run a revival? How you gonna be 0:36:26.760 --> 0:36:31.719 anointed by God? And you can't play a tape? Love 0:36:31.800 --> 0:36:33.720 that boy? 0:36:34.400 --> 0:36:40.480 I bleached my hair too. My hair ain't black anymore. 0:36:40.920 --> 0:36:47.640 But my annoying still works. Okay, I'm gonna tell you 0:36:47.719 --> 0:36:51.520 this and I'll start thinking about finishing my sermon. Tell 0:36:51.560 --> 0:36:54.839 somebody it still works. I was amazed at the moon 0:36:54.880 --> 0:36:58.359 box still worked. I was amazed that there was part 0:36:58.360 --> 0:36:59.640 of it that did work and part of it that 0:36:59.680 --> 0:37:02.920 didn't working, choosing to say, I'm gonna use what. I 0:37:02.960 --> 0:37:04.600 was amazed when I put the tape in and I 0:37:04.680 --> 0:37:06.680 was like, yo, listen to that kid. 0:37:06.719 --> 0:37:09.400 Twenty years old hollering at. 0:37:09.239 --> 0:37:12.160 Those people, tell them it's the privilege to be here 0:37:13.040 --> 0:37:16.920 the church, privilege to price God. Amen. 0:37:17.960 --> 0:37:19.360 I need to bring some of that back. 0:37:19.880 --> 0:37:21.799 I need to bring some of that country preaching back 0:37:21.800 --> 0:37:22.400 in this church. 0:37:22.760 --> 0:37:26.360 It still works. 0:37:28.160 --> 0:37:28.319 Well. 0:37:28.320 --> 0:37:31.280 I got testimony that confirmed this message because I'm always 0:37:31.280 --> 0:37:32.719 trying to make sure that I have the word that 0:37:32.760 --> 0:37:34.000 the Lord wants me to deliver. 0:37:34.280 --> 0:37:35.319 Now, back in. 0:37:35.280 --> 0:37:37.040 The day, you had to wait six weeks before you 0:37:37.080 --> 0:37:38.560 could get a sermon. They had to mail it to 0:37:38.600 --> 0:37:41.400 you on tape. Now people can just watch online and 0:37:41.480 --> 0:37:42.919 sometimes it still takes a. 0:37:42.840 --> 0:37:45.040 Delay before I know how God uses a word. 0:37:45.239 --> 0:37:47.480 There was a word that I preached from Exodus chapter 0:37:47.520 --> 0:37:49.680 four ten years ago called handle it. 0:37:52.760 --> 0:37:55.520 Real tight, skinny jeans, running around. 0:37:55.239 --> 0:37:58.000 The stage, preaching on pick up the snake by the tail, 0:37:58.080 --> 0:38:00.279 because that's weird. And I was trying to say, is 0:38:00.320 --> 0:38:03.759 only weird till it works? You know, trust in God. 0:38:03.760 --> 0:38:06.400 Hold now you're a virgin. That's weird. No, it works 0:38:07.000 --> 0:38:09.880 because I'm protecting myself because I know the value that 0:38:09.920 --> 0:38:10.440 God has. 0:38:10.280 --> 0:38:11.840 Put on my life. So it works. 0:38:13.440 --> 0:38:17.120 Look, some of the things that work in God's Kingdom 0:38:17.200 --> 0:38:23.239 look completely weird to the world, but forgiveness still works. 0:38:23.880 --> 0:38:28.080 Even if it doesn't fix them, it will free you. 0:38:30.560 --> 0:38:34.680 You see what I mean. That's weird, but it works. 0:38:34.719 --> 0:38:37.520 It's weird to grab a snake by the tail, but 0:38:37.600 --> 0:38:38.080 it works. 0:38:39.239 --> 0:38:42.200 It is weird. I was thinking about another one. 0:38:43.320 --> 0:38:47.480 It's weird for us to give to God so that 0:38:47.520 --> 0:38:49.880 our church can do outreaches, so that our church can 0:38:49.920 --> 0:38:50.839 reach the world, so that. 0:38:50.800 --> 0:38:52.240 Our church can preach the gospel. 0:38:52.800 --> 0:38:56.520 That is weird, but you find out that God doesn't 0:38:56.560 --> 0:38:58.520 need what you have. You need what he has when 0:38:58.560 --> 0:39:03.800 you give, and it allows you to access your faith. 0:39:03.960 --> 0:39:06.640 So people are like, you give your money to that church. No, 0:39:06.760 --> 0:39:10.240 I give it to God through a church. You understand. 0:39:10.239 --> 0:39:11.959 I'm giving this to God, and that. 0:39:12.040 --> 0:39:14.839 Works for me because it keeps me free from being 0:39:14.880 --> 0:39:15.960 mastered by money. 0:39:16.200 --> 0:39:18.280 So that's weird, but it works. 0:39:19.800 --> 0:39:21.680 I honestly always thought it was weird to put our 0:39:21.719 --> 0:39:25.239 sermons online. When we first started doing that, I thought 0:39:25.280 --> 0:39:27.000 that was weird and I thought it wouldn't work. 0:39:27.960 --> 0:39:30.600 I even made that argument. I told a. 0:39:30.600 --> 0:39:32.600 Brother one time, I don't have that gift to look 0:39:32.600 --> 0:39:36.080 into a camera and preach. You know, man, I came 0:39:36.080 --> 0:39:39.839 from Campobello only reason I remembered I listened to the tape. 0:39:39.840 --> 0:39:40.600 The only reason I preached to. 0:39:40.600 --> 0:39:42.440 Campabella because the maintenance man at the college I was 0:39:42.440 --> 0:39:44.480 attending at the time had fixed my shower for me, 0:39:44.520 --> 0:39:45.759 and he said, now that I fixed your shower, you 0:39:45.800 --> 0:39:46.759 gotta come preaching my church. 0:39:46.800 --> 0:39:47.279 I said, deal. 0:39:51.239 --> 0:39:54.239 So when you come from Campobello preaching, you know like that, 0:39:55.560 --> 0:39:57.279 it's hard to get our mind around the fact that 0:39:57.719 --> 0:39:59.080 so many people are logged on right now, and I 0:39:59.120 --> 0:40:01.600 want you to put where You're wife on YouTube right now, 0:40:02.600 --> 0:40:06.160 and I want to do this illustration because see, the 0:40:06.239 --> 0:40:09.880 methods have changed, but the methods have I messed that up, 0:40:09.880 --> 0:40:16.520 didn't not. The methods have changed, the message has not, amen. 0:40:16.680 --> 0:40:21.640 And if you go on right now, people are watching. 0:40:21.320 --> 0:40:24.440 From I mean all over the world. 0:40:26.239 --> 0:40:30.760 But sometimes I get a testimony from Alabama, from Michigan, 0:40:30.880 --> 0:40:32.880 from Denver, from San Diego. 0:40:32.440 --> 0:40:38.040 From Utah, for Missouri, that's wild Man, Orlando, Connecticut, Texas. 0:40:39.600 --> 0:40:42.520 Y'all think I'm talking about me and preaching. 0:40:42.560 --> 0:40:42.799 I'm not. 0:40:43.400 --> 0:40:47.040 I'm talking about you and the challenge of your life 0:40:47.120 --> 0:40:49.439 right now that you feel insufficient for. And I'm trying 0:40:49.480 --> 0:40:52.040 to tell you I've always doubted what I could do, 0:40:53.200 --> 0:40:55.080 and there have been times in my life I preached 0:40:55.080 --> 0:40:59.359 and felt nothing worked. Do you understand me? I went 0:40:59.360 --> 0:41:01.560 back and I prayed, God, what even was that? 0:41:01.600 --> 0:41:01.880 Well? 0:41:03.000 --> 0:41:09.080 Ten years ago I was preaching the same passage, and 0:41:09.160 --> 0:41:13.440 a couple of years after that, there was a man 0:41:14.160 --> 0:41:16.719 in Greenville, South Carolina, who related his story to me 0:41:19.560 --> 0:41:21.480 that he was in the middle of a horrible divorce, 0:41:27.520 --> 0:41:29.640 that he had a nine millimeter on his coffee table 0:41:31.880 --> 0:41:39.040 and he was in his apartment alone and he didn't 0:41:39.120 --> 0:41:42.719 know what to do. And he said, I had this 0:41:42.800 --> 0:41:49.120 weird feeling. Something told me to plug up the Apple 0:41:49.160 --> 0:41:52.399 TV that my mom had brought over to my house 0:41:52.440 --> 0:41:56.520 a few days earlier, and so I did, and it 0:41:56.560 --> 0:42:01.239 felt weird. And then he said, after I plugged it in, 0:42:02.640 --> 0:42:03.839 trying to figure out do I. 0:42:03.800 --> 0:42:04.600 Even want to be here? 0:42:06.239 --> 0:42:08.240 Something came up as I logged in on the screen, 0:42:08.239 --> 0:42:10.520 and it was a purple icon that said podcast, and 0:42:10.560 --> 0:42:13.959 I had never listened to a podcast, and something said 0:42:14.000 --> 0:42:19.160 click it, and I clicked it. And then I clicked 0:42:19.160 --> 0:42:22.120 that purple icon that said podcast, and an orange icon 0:42:22.200 --> 0:42:24.040 came up that said elevation. 0:42:26.040 --> 0:42:27.480 And something said click it. 0:42:28.840 --> 0:42:32.640 Listen to me, he says, something said click it, and 0:42:32.719 --> 0:42:35.040 he clicked it, and he. 0:42:35.000 --> 0:42:36.759 Said it was a sermon of a preacher I had 0:42:36.800 --> 0:42:39.680 never heard of before. Say and handle it. 0:42:40.440 --> 0:42:41.040 Handle it. 0:42:41.960 --> 0:42:44.960 And halfway through your sermon, you said, You're sitting on 0:42:44.960 --> 0:42:48.080 the couch and you're wondering do I even want to 0:42:48.080 --> 0:42:51.920 be here? And God wanted you to know it's handled. 0:42:52.480 --> 0:42:55.239 Get up off the couch, he said. I got up 0:42:55.239 --> 0:42:58.840 and started walking around my apartment. And I can't explain 0:42:58.960 --> 0:43:02.600 exactly what happened that day, and I know it sounds weird, 0:43:03.520 --> 0:43:07.360 but guess started working in my life. And it felt 0:43:07.360 --> 0:43:10.640 weird to plug up an Apple TV with the gun 0:43:10.640 --> 0:43:13.319 on the coffee table, but I plugged it up. And 0:43:13.400 --> 0:43:16.000 it felt weird to reach down and grab a snake 0:43:16.560 --> 0:43:17.200 by the tail. 0:43:17.360 --> 0:43:18.799 And it feels weird for me. 0:43:18.800 --> 0:43:21.799 To keep showing up even though nobody appreciates me. 0:43:21.840 --> 0:43:24.760 And it feels weird for me to even be in church. 0:43:24.600 --> 0:43:28.440 Today because honestly, I'm still struggling so much with my past. 0:43:28.560 --> 0:43:30.919 I can't even really focus on what you're saying right now. 0:43:31.040 --> 0:43:32.919 And it feels weird for me to believe that God 0:43:32.920 --> 0:43:34.040 could use me, he said. 0:43:34.080 --> 0:43:35.520 But I started walking. 0:43:35.200 --> 0:43:37.680 Around, and all I can tell you is that that day, 0:43:38.640 --> 0:43:40.719 that when I plugged in that TV and God hit 0:43:40.800 --> 0:43:43.440 me with that podcast. And it was a word that 0:43:43.600 --> 0:43:47.719 was preached ten years ago from the exact scripture that 0:43:47.800 --> 0:43:49.080 I am preaching. 0:43:48.800 --> 0:43:49.640 To you today. 0:43:49.920 --> 0:43:54.319 All I can tell you is it still works. With 0:43:54.480 --> 0:43:58.080 a gun on his coffee table, the word of God 0:43:58.239 --> 0:44:01.239 was powerful enough to say, see you, I got you, 0:44:01.480 --> 0:44:04.120 I got something for you. And the best part of 0:44:04.120 --> 0:44:08.480 his testimony is that he told me today he is 0:44:08.600 --> 0:44:13.360 a worship leader in a local church. 0:44:14.040 --> 0:44:24.640 Because egg still worse. It works. Shot somebody say it works. 0:44:26.000 --> 0:44:30.520 It's always worked, and it still works. 0:44:32.440 --> 0:44:35.560 Come on, clap those hands and praise God like you know, 0:44:37.520 --> 0:44:43.400 shut the kingel glory. It's working in ways you can't see. 0:44:43.920 --> 0:44:48.280 You shall live and not die. 0:44:47.440 --> 0:44:51.280 And still worse. 0:44:52.960 --> 0:44:57.840 It's still worse in my darkest hour. It works in 0:44:57.960 --> 0:45:03.839 my lowest moment. It works in my most hopeless situation. 0:45:05.360 --> 0:45:07.399 He worked, and. 0:45:07.360 --> 0:45:11.000 Moses took that staff, I'm almost done, and he picked 0:45:11.040 --> 0:45:12.280 it up and it became a staff. 0:45:12.280 --> 0:45:14.160 And when he got in front of Pharaoh, he and 0:45:14.200 --> 0:45:17.720 Aaron said watch this boom. And it still worked. 0:45:18.760 --> 0:45:21.440 It not only worked in private, it worked in public. 0:45:21.680 --> 0:45:22.600 It still worked. 0:45:23.600 --> 0:45:26.520 And when Pharaoh said, I'm not letting your people go. 0:45:26.880 --> 0:45:28.120 Moses said, all right. 0:45:28.160 --> 0:45:31.320 And he stuck up the staff, and hail started falling 0:45:31.360 --> 0:45:34.200 out of the sky, because no matter how much resistance 0:45:34.239 --> 0:45:37.960 you face, it's still worse. And when he still wouldn't 0:45:38.000 --> 0:45:41.800 let the people go, Moses pointed it, and frogs covered 0:45:41.800 --> 0:45:44.640 the land. And when he still wouldn't let the people go, 0:45:44.920 --> 0:45:45.600 he pointed it. 0:45:45.600 --> 0:45:47.040 In the nile became blood. 0:45:47.040 --> 0:45:51.640 But there came a moment for Moses that is like 0:45:51.719 --> 0:45:53.640 the moment that most of us are in today. 0:45:55.200 --> 0:45:59.360 And it goes like this, You know it. The people 0:45:59.360 --> 0:46:02.560 of God have out of Egypt. They are moving into 0:46:02.600 --> 0:46:04.640 their freedom of sons and daughters, but they are. 0:46:04.480 --> 0:46:06.239 Not yet free. 0:46:07.200 --> 0:46:09.799 They have to cross a body of water known as 0:46:10.160 --> 0:46:12.880 the Red Sea or the Sea of Reeds. And as 0:46:12.920 --> 0:46:15.000 they stand at that body of water, they hear the 0:46:15.000 --> 0:46:18.879 sound of four hundred chosen chariot Sapharaoh, the hit men, 0:46:18.960 --> 0:46:22.919 coming to bring them back. There would be no hope 0:46:22.920 --> 0:46:26.359 in this situation, even for the most well suited army, 0:46:26.800 --> 0:46:30.480 much less millions of slaves and runaways on foot. What 0:46:30.640 --> 0:46:32.680 is the sound we hear behind us? We cried to 0:46:32.719 --> 0:46:34.960 the Lord to bring us out of Egypt, and here 0:46:35.000 --> 0:46:38.400 we are looking at a red sea Moses in an 0:46:38.400 --> 0:46:41.520 effort to do crowd control, because this is getting out 0:46:41.520 --> 0:46:43.120 of hand quickly as they begin to. 0:46:43.080 --> 0:46:46.400 Say, why didn't you leave us in Egypt? Why didn't 0:46:46.440 --> 0:46:47.000 you leave us. 0:46:46.960 --> 0:46:47.640 Where we were? 0:46:47.920 --> 0:46:50.520 This is worse than where we came from. And sometimes 0:46:50.520 --> 0:46:52.880 you get there, man with God, You're like, I'm trying 0:46:52.920 --> 0:46:54.680 to do what God called me to do, but it 0:46:54.760 --> 0:46:57.560 actually feels more difficult to do it God's way. And 0:46:57.680 --> 0:47:01.560 at that very moment gives speech Exodus fourteen. 0:47:02.840 --> 0:47:03.760 Do not be afraid. 0:47:05.040 --> 0:47:08.880 Stand firm, and you will see the deliverance the Lord 0:47:08.920 --> 0:47:13.640 will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you 0:47:13.680 --> 0:47:29.919 will never see again. The Lord will fight for you. 0:47:29.920 --> 0:47:31.840 You need only to be still. 0:47:35.960 --> 0:47:40.960 Then, the Lord said to Moses, why are you crying 0:47:40.960 --> 0:47:41.400 out to me? 0:47:43.360 --> 0:47:46.720 You know what to do. Tell the Israelites. 0:47:47.680 --> 0:47:48.959 To plug in the apple TV. 0:47:50.280 --> 0:47:53.359 Tell the Israelites to go back to quoting the word 0:47:53.400 --> 0:47:53.759 of God. 0:47:54.080 --> 0:48:00.880 Tell the Israelites to wash their face and move on. 0:48:02.960 --> 0:48:11.759 Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the 0:48:11.840 --> 0:48:15.600 sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can 0:48:15.680 --> 0:48:20.799 go through the sea on dry ground. And what I 0:48:20.840 --> 0:48:22.840 wanted to show you today from the Bible leave the 0:48:22.920 --> 0:48:29.279 verse is that the same staff that was on the 0:48:29.360 --> 0:48:34.719 ground was the staff that was going to work in 0:48:34.800 --> 0:48:38.439 the water. And the reason I wanted you to see 0:48:38.440 --> 0:48:41.799 that today is because the children of Israel had no 0:48:41.920 --> 0:48:45.359 point of reference for this red sea, had no way 0:48:45.440 --> 0:48:47.520 of knowing how God was going to do it. 0:48:47.760 --> 0:48:49.000 And maybe you don't either. 0:48:49.239 --> 0:48:51.879 And you're standing there saying, God, I feel like I've 0:48:51.920 --> 0:48:54.719 lost it. God, I feel like this is too much. God. 0:48:54.760 --> 0:48:57.000 I've never been this way before, and I don't know 0:48:57.040 --> 0:48:57.520 what to do. 0:48:57.640 --> 0:49:02.080 And God says, you still got that staff, you still 0:49:02.120 --> 0:49:06.319 got that word, you still got that praise, you still 0:49:06.360 --> 0:49:07.160 got that gift. 0:49:08.200 --> 0:49:09.240 Then stand up. 0:49:09.080 --> 0:49:14.080 On your feet and lift your hands and praise your God. 0:49:15.640 --> 0:49:19.400 Because the same faith that you've got it. 0:49:19.480 --> 0:49:20.799 The parting bush. 0:49:21.440 --> 0:49:25.759 It's gonna get you through this, God said, it'll get 0:49:25.800 --> 0:49:26.480 you through this. 0:49:27.400 --> 0:49:30.000 It'll get you through it. It'll get you. 0:49:30.080 --> 0:49:33.920 Through the dry season, It'll get you through the panic attack. 0:49:34.400 --> 0:49:36.000 It'll get you through it. 0:49:39.640 --> 0:49:44.520 Because it still works. It worked on the ground, it'll 0:49:44.520 --> 0:49:47.600 work in the water. It worked when you were young, 0:49:47.960 --> 0:49:52.000 it'll work when you're old. Somebody shall I've never seen 0:49:52.040 --> 0:49:54.280 the righteous forsaken. 0:49:55.360 --> 0:49:57.600 It'll work. It'll work in this season. 0:49:57.880 --> 0:50:00.319 It'll work when they like you, it'll work when they 0:50:00.400 --> 0:50:03.120 hate you, it'll work when they lie about you, it'll 0:50:03.160 --> 0:50:06.600 work when they leave you. I'm a living testimony that 0:50:06.800 --> 0:50:08.160 the Word of God. 0:50:11.239 --> 0:50:11.920 Still works. 0:50:13.920 --> 0:50:16.479 Hey, I hope you enjoyed the podcast, and if you did, 0:50:17.040 --> 0:50:19.600 make sure to share it and subscribe so we can 0:50:19.640 --> 0:50:22.239 get you all of these new messages as soon as 0:50:22.239 --> 0:50:25.080 they're available.
