#ispylife #sermon #pauldaugherty #victory #church #hope #encouragement SERMON NOTES Genesis 8:1-11 Job 14:7-9 —a message about growth, pain, life, hope, endurance, perseverance, staying rooted, learning that growth only comes from staying planted - the life, the dreams, the fruit comes from the root... be careful assuming you can produce the same fruit somewhere else that you are seeing God produce here... -----THE FRUIT comes from the ROOT… ---BE CAREFUL judging something from afar---MARK 11:12-29 ---TAKE A CLOSER LOOK--- I SPY LIFE or death… This passage is more meaningful than a random case of tree-killing. Jesus is hungry, and the tree is not producing fruit as it should. While it is not the season for figs, fig trees would produce small, edible buds before beginning to grow actual figs. A tree that doesn't grow those buds won't later produce full fruit. Seeing that the tree has nothing to offer, and no anticipated harvest, Jesus denounces it ////---JOHN 15:1-5--- producing fruit… ---The church is Gods idea - those planted in the house of the Lord will FLOURISH— Psalms 92:13 - ESV MASSIVE TREES Start as small little seeds... SEED - planted - water - time - sunlight- growth- flourish- It’s God’s will for you and me and our church to flourish! Planted people prosper Planted people pray Planted people plow Planted people pull others into the house What stops trees from growing and flourishing? 1---SOIL problems--- rocky soil, shallow soil, weedy/thorny soil, or good soil… MARK 4:3-20 // the seed only sprouts in good soil, and only flourishes when that soil remains fertile for growth… no matter how great the seed---it’s the soil that determines the impact… /// no matter how great the sermons/the vision casting/the guest speakers---it’s the CULTURE – SOIL that determines the IMPACT… ---Parable of the SOWER- rocky ground, weeds, shallow ground, etc… 2— PRUNING PROBLEMS — healthy things need pruning – continual renewal, continual growth requires subtracting, changing, releasing, etc… 3— PEST PROBLEMS - canker worms - little foxes - locusts— swarms of locusts strip fields and destroy green vegetation - swarming groups of negativity - swarming groups of gossip- complaining - locusts are unhealthy - they eat life - they suck the life out of the trees - the serotonin changes the brain of the locusts and they become toxic // —Canker worms - they become North American moths - Caterpillars on trees — they eat your leaves - they weaken the bark— then it becomes subjuect to more attacks and weakens the trunk... we have to guard the life of our trees!
