#healingthemind #mentalhealth #sermon #pauldaugherty #victory #emotionalhealth #healingthemansmind #mindgames SERMON NOTES MARK 5:1-21 HEALING THE MAN’S MIND--- everything starts in the mind--- our greatest success and greatest failures come from our minds—the thoughts— ----He has no name- he has been labeled by his appearance—he’s bent over, he’s wild—the bible says he possessed by spirits—it had control over his body, his spirit, him----- what you suffer from does not define who you are--- YOU ARE NOT YOUR DIAGNOSIS--- what you SUFFER FROM is NOT WHO YOU ARE… --YOU are not an ALCOHOLIC--- you are a child of GOD… you are not a COCAINE ADDICT—you are a child of God… THE DEVIL wants you to BELIEVE your IDENTITY is tied to your diagnosis, your condition, your hurts, your wounds, your past… YOU are NOT what you’ve done, or what others have done to you… WHY are you BENT OVER??? –for this woman it could have been the abuse of her husband or dad or mom—abusive words or actions—or it could’ve been self-abuse—self-harm—self-esteem--- or it could have been an addiction—pills, drinks, drugs, sex-addictions,--crippled by the spirit… ---Jeremiah 6:14 says: “They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wounds” (New Living Translation). Take this Scripture as an admonition to treat your wounds appropriately rather than superficially. Get the help you need before the wound further infects you or those around you. Treat deeply what needs treating rather than just giving it the minimal amount of attention needed—hoping it will eventually go away. You’re worth the effort, and God will honor your efforts to get the help you need to heal what is broken in your soul. --PROVERBS 23:7 KJV—as a man thinks so is he… --- THE MIND Is the ENGINE for the LIFE--- it is where ideas, actions, decisions, contemplations, meditations, feelings, desires are all prepared and released… If the Devil plagues your mind, he can direct your behavior! Where your mind is at is a good condition of your future actions… ----CRIMINALS in PRISON serving LONG SENTENCES for the WORST CRIMES--- say it started in their mind----there was something brewing in the minds... -What dark places has your mind been going? Have you been fighting depression, suicidal thoughts, lustful thoughts, and angry violent imaginations- -Our mind is what the Devil uses to contaminate our heart- once he takes control- he dictates our actions like a puppet on a string! -MARK 5:1-20---BUT JESUS SEES HIM---- JESUS SEES you—HE SEES your PAIN--- HE HEARS YOUR CRIES---your inner turmoil—HE sees beyond the OUTER appearance--- and JESUS CALLED HIM---Jesus is calling you! LEGION--- surrounded by DEMONIC VOICES---WHO’S VOICE has been haunting you? Keeping you awake? Stirring your anxiety? —PUT ON HEADPHONES---TUNE OUT THE HATERS IN YOUR HEAD----THIS MAN was AFFLICTED & AFFECTED by the voices in his head--- MULTIPLE VOICES in the head--- ----SOMEONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND HAS FOCUSED ON THE RIGHT VOICE & ACCEPTS THE RIGHT THOUGHTS----Right Mind- loving people, pure, honoring of others, compassionate, forgiving, peaceful, understanding, rested, alert and alive, confident, joyful, etc… -Where the mind goes, the man follows.
