Today, some more of those questions. Some of you may feel that they're better than the heart -to -heart talk. Well, I would say that there were an awful lot of heart -to -heart talks all wrapped up in every one of these questions. Oh, I've just loved answering them. And I just hope and pray that you will have learned much and received much from the... answer that has been given to these questions. 42 of them. This is question number 30. What is your comment to Christians who come to your meetings and go away without having been healed? I have no comment whatsoever. Because whether that one was healed or not, was in the hands of God. At no time is it my responsibility. I am not perfect wisdom. I am not perfect knowledge. I have no healing virtue. I have never healed anyone. I have no power to heal. The whole responsibility rests in the hands of God and the individual. And it's just like that. But of course I'm human, and you'll never know how I hurt on the inside of me when the service is over with. And I see those who've come in wheelchairs being pushed into the street again in the same wheelchairs in which they came. You'll never know the ache on the inside of me, the suffering that I feel, but the answer I must leave with God. And one of these days when I get home to glory, I'm going to ask Him to give me the answer from His own lips as to why everyone is not healed. But something happened when I was in Kansas City. Uh... The Kansas City Star sent a very marvelous reporter, one of their best, to the services. I became acquainted with her. A lovely reporter. She'd been trained in New York City. And everyone knows the strength of the Kansas City Star. But the last night that I was... in the great services in Kansas City. She came back in my dressing room. She found me crying. And I just started baring my soul to her, forgetting she was a reporter. And I said, you know, people would think that after a great miracle service like this, with scores and scores having been healed, that I would be the happiest person in the whole world at a moment like this. I am grateful, as I have seen the manifestation of God's power. But I hurt and am grieved for those who were not healed. And I wonder if perhaps I had known how better to have cooperated with the Holy Spirit that more might have been accomplished for God. She saw me as a human being. She saw me weak. It was about three weeks later when I received a letter from this reporter, and she said, Catherine Kuhlman, I'm not writing as a reporter working for the Kansas City Star, but as someone who had a friend in that last service. He was an attorney dying of cancer. They brought him on a stretcher. and about a week after you left Kansas City, I went to his home, was greeted at the front door by his wife, and she said, you know, calling him by name, Tom died. But she said I was so amazed when she asked me to come in, and her face was so radiant. She said, you know, that service in the auditorium that night, was the greatest thing that happened to Tom. It was the most wonderful thing that happened to him. He was not healed. We took him back home on the same stretcher on which he was carried. But it was during that service that Tom prepared for death. It was lying on that stretcher, when the power of God was falling, that my husband Tom accepted Christ in the forgiveness of his sins. And when he died, death was so easy. It was glorious to hear him thanking Jesus for the forgiveness of his sins. And the reporter said to me, you know, Catherine Kuhlman, remember, don't weep after a service anymore. When you think there should have been greater results than the healing of sick bodies, always remember our friend Tom. The greatest miracle that could have happened to him was the salvation of his soul. No, I do not understand why everyone is not healed physically. But all can be healed spiritually. And that's the greatest miracle that any human being can know. Question number 31. Do you think that there is any correlation between your ministry of healing and such phenomena as ESP? I'll be very frank with you. I know absolutely nothing about ESP. Perhaps I'm the most ignorant person in the world today, especially in public life, when it comes to the subject of ESP. I've never read a book on ESP. I have never studied it. I've always felt that I have had enough to do to study the Bible, and I just lean completely on the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. Question number 32. Is there healing in the atonement? Did Christ die to relieve us of... Are physical as well as spiritual infirmities? Do you keep tabs on the ratio of physical and spiritual healings? Can or should a believer have one without the other? Now that, my friend, is a loaded question. Because in this question, we have about six questions all wrapped up in one. First of all, let me make it very clear. that Jesus died for the whole man, body, soul, and spirit. And man is a trinity, even as God is a trinity. The Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost. Man is a trinity, body, soul, and spirit. And he would be an unjust God if he permitted his Son to come and die for just a part of man. When Jesus cried on the cross, it is finished, the price was paid through the atonement for the whole man, every part of man, for the physical, for the spiritual, for the soul, the whole thing paid in full. Get back to the first part of that question. Is there healing in the atonement? Did Christ die to relieve us of our physical as well as spiritual infirmities? Let's go back to the first Passover as recorded in the 12th chapter of Exodus. Begin with the third verse. Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month, They shall take to them every man a lamb according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house. And if the household paid too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls. Every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish a male of the first year. Ye shall take it out from the sheep or from the goats. And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month. And the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. Now watch this, the seventh verse. And they shall take of the blood, strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door posts of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. And they shall eat the flesh. In that night, roast with fire and unleavened bread, and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. That was the first Passover. The blood to be sprinkled on the length of the doorpost of the house, but the flesh of the lamb shall be eaten. We forget. the true meaning of the flesh of the Lamb. There are literally thousands and thousands of Christians who partake of the Lord's Supper, the Communion. All know regarding the wine. As you partake of the wine, as you hold the little cup in your hand, or as you drink the wine at the altar, a symbol of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. It is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. But what about the bread? The partaking of the bread every time the bread is served. It should mean a beautiful miracle service. The healing for the body, partaking of the bread has nothing to do with the soul, the forgiveness of sins. The whole man was included in the atonement. That's the reason Isaiah in the 53rd chapter cried, wounded for our transgressions. bruised for our iniquities, and by His stripes we are healed. Yes, there is healing in the atonement. And Christ did die to give us healing not only for the spiritual, but also for the physical infirmities as well. Do you keep tabs on the ratio of physical and spiritual healings? May I answer this question by saying that over and over again, those who are healed physically will invariably say, Spiritual healing was even greater than my physical healing. Regardless of how great the physical healing may have been, invariably, they will say, but what happened to me spiritually, I have never been the same since. I do not believe that anyone can receive a physical healing without also receiving a spiritual healing. The two go hand in hand. There is never a miracle service. Never. But what sometimes right in the middle of that miracle service, all bodies are being healed, you'll find those who need salvation, sinners, come walking down the aisle. weeping and saying, I want to be born again, and yet nothing has been said about salvation or repentance or what we call an altar call. It's the moving of the Holy Ghost. And wherever you find the great moving and the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit, you'll find the two going hand in hand. The spiritual healing. which is the greatest of all healings, the greatest of all miracles. And then there'll also be the healing of the physical. What is your concept of illness? That's question number 33. Now let me see. How best can I answer that? Well, maybe by telling you of a little boy who had eaten too many green apples. And little boys just love green apples. There's so many little boys and green apples. And this little boy just ate too many. And he came to his mother just deathly sick. Oh, he said, Mom. I'm so sick. And the mother said, oh, honey, it's all in your mind. You just think you're sick. And the kid looked up and he said, but mama, I have inside information. I'm sick. And when a little boy goes vomiting all over the place, having eaten too many green apples, I'm telling you something, it isn't just his imagination. It isn't just a mental attitude. That kid is sick. I know why the question was asked. Because so very often, there are those who like to say that healings are psychosomatic. That is all in the mind. The healing of cancer could not be psychosomatic. The lengthening of a limb could not be psychosomatic. The giving of sight to an eye could not possibly be psychosomatic. Let's just stop trying to... Close our eyes to the reality of the power of God. Let's accept God for what He really is. Let's stop trying to play games with God. Let's accept God and His Word at face value. You may not need a miracle today. But there may come a time when you will need that miracle. Accept God's promises at face value. Well, here comes question number 34. To what extent is individual health related to social or cosmic health? Does our social mindset have much to do with the physical health of individuals? Well, that too is a most important question. All of these questions are vitally important and they're right down to where we live. May I say that the greatest enemy that a human being can take into his life is fear? It's just like that. If you are able to conquer that enemy of fear, you have gone a long way to bringing health to a physical body. Life is not built for negative achievement. It's... built for positive contribution, for outgoing love. And it's just like that. You can never get rid of your own troubles unless you take upon yourself the troubles of others. When you find yourself oppressed by melancholy, the best way is to go out and find something kind to do to somebody else. For when you dig a man out of trouble, the hole which is left is the grave where you bury your own troubles, your own sorrows. Go out each day and do something that nobody but a Christian would do. And it isn't long before you'll forget about your own troubles. You'll forget about your own aches. You'll forget about your own pains. where the mind enters into it. I really believe that one can talk themselves into being sick. A little pain, you continue dwelling on the fact that you're suffering. It's amazing how that pain will increase. I can always remember Papa saying, Something. It wasn't scientific. You won't find it in the doctor's manual. But I'll tell you, it's just good common sense. He used to say, oh, just go out and work it off. And the best medicine in the world is hard work. Instead of running off and getting a prescription, we've got pills for everything. We got pills for every part of the body. Oh, we're pill to death these days. We're capsule to death these days. Sometimes I wish I could put faith in the capsule and send it out to millions of people. I'll tell you what to do. Instead of going and taking a pill for this, a pep pill and a nerve pill and a tranquilizer and another aspirin and another Anacin, why don't you just start working it off? It's the best medicine I know anything about. The right mental attitude is glorious. Remember something. Don't wait for some miracle to be performed on you from without. Lifting you above your fears and your doubts and your self -centeredness. You help God from within by turning in outgoing love to others. And miraculously, your fears, your doubts, your self -centeredness will vanish. The miracle starts from within. Not. from without. Throw your will on the side of outgoing love and all the healing resources of the universe will be behind you. Try it. It's the best medicine I know anything about.
