Thank you so much for downloading 0:01:34.160 --> 0:01:37.800 this podcast. I believe God has amazing things in your future. 0:01:38.040 --> 0:01:48.840 I hope you enjoy this message. Oh I am encourage 0:01:48.880 --> 0:01:52.920 this all today to have a peace maker's heart, a 0:01:53.040 --> 0:01:58.600 piece maker's heart, the heart of a peace maker. You see, 0:01:58.600 --> 0:02:01.200 we all want to live in peace. We all want 0:02:01.200 --> 0:02:03.840 people to be at peace with us. We want peace 0:02:04.160 --> 0:02:06.560 in our families, we want peace in our homes. 0:02:07.480 --> 0:02:08.840 But the way we're going. 0:02:08.840 --> 0:02:12.440 To have peace is to make peace. Peace maker is 0:02:12.480 --> 0:02:17.280 a compound word peace maker. We should be the maker 0:02:17.680 --> 0:02:20.280 of peace, the maker of peace. 0:02:21.040 --> 0:02:23.560 You See, we have the ability to draw the. 0:02:23.520 --> 0:02:25.679 Line in the sand and say I'm not going to 0:02:25.720 --> 0:02:29.240 step over this line of into strife, into division. 0:02:29.720 --> 0:02:33.320 I'm gonna make peace. And how do we do that? 0:02:33.360 --> 0:02:37.800 The Bible says we make peace, we make unity through 0:02:37.840 --> 0:02:43.160 the bond of peace. See, it's our responsibility. 0:02:42.440 --> 0:02:42.880 No one. 0:02:42.960 --> 0:02:45.280 We don't have to depend on anyone to make peace 0:02:45.320 --> 0:02:50.200 for us. It's our responsibility to resolve the differences and 0:02:50.280 --> 0:02:55.000 the conflicts in our life honoring God. See that's what 0:02:55.040 --> 0:02:56.160 a peace maker does. 0:02:56.639 --> 0:02:59.959 He honors God. It's an adam. 0:03:00.800 --> 0:03:04.000 And that's why I described it as developing a heart 0:03:04.040 --> 0:03:07.160 of a peacemaker, because it's an attitude that we have 0:03:07.280 --> 0:03:10.240 to develop. It's something that we have to realize is 0:03:10.320 --> 0:03:14.440 our responsibility. See Jesus gave a sermon on the mound, 0:03:14.480 --> 0:03:18.639 and he gave all the beatitudes, and he told about 0:03:18.639 --> 0:03:21.800 these beatitudes you could call them, these are attitudes that 0:03:21.840 --> 0:03:24.800 bring the blessings of God in our life. And he 0:03:24.880 --> 0:03:29.920 said in Matthew five nineteen, he said, blessed are the peacemakers, 0:03:30.680 --> 0:03:35.440 for they shall be sons of God. Blessed are those 0:03:35.960 --> 0:03:40.040 who are willing to let go of an offense. Blessed 0:03:40.120 --> 0:03:43.600 are those who don't walk in the pathway of conflict. 0:03:44.640 --> 0:03:47.480 Blessed are those who don't have to have their way 0:03:47.520 --> 0:03:48.200 all the time. 0:03:49.480 --> 0:03:54.480 Blessed are those who are willing to keep the peace. 0:03:55.440 --> 0:03:58.279 See, we have to learn how to reconcile our differences 0:03:58.880 --> 0:04:03.560 and honor God. See it's about unity, and the only 0:04:03.640 --> 0:04:06.360 way we're gonna find unity is through the bonds of peace. 0:04:07.080 --> 0:04:10.760 Unity doesn't mean we're all going to agree on everything. 0:04:11.600 --> 0:04:14.480 Unity doesn't mean we're all clones and we look alike, 0:04:15.200 --> 0:04:17.760 we act alike, we talk alike because we. 0:04:17.760 --> 0:04:19.120 All know that ain't happening. 0:04:20.279 --> 0:04:24.279 We're all from different backgrounds, we have different opinions, different 0:04:24.320 --> 0:04:27.840 ways of doing things. So we have to learn that 0:04:28.040 --> 0:04:30.760 peace is what's going to bind us together. You know, 0:04:30.800 --> 0:04:36.760 it's so interesting in families and with co workers, in partnerships, 0:04:36.800 --> 0:04:41.040 with business husbands and wife The interesting thing is this, 0:04:41.680 --> 0:04:45.640 we start out good. We have the same goal in mind. 0:04:46.320 --> 0:04:49.160 We want to be successful at this task. We want 0:04:49.160 --> 0:04:51.480 to have peace in our homes. We want to raise 0:04:51.600 --> 0:04:55.360 kids that are thriving and well able to accomplish things. 0:04:55.680 --> 0:04:58.839 We want to have financial security. These are all common 0:04:58.880 --> 0:05:02.479 goals that we start out with, but somewhere along the way, 0:05:02.520 --> 0:05:05.760 because we differ in our personalities and the way we 0:05:05.800 --> 0:05:09.120 do things, we begin to get in conflict. We have 0:05:09.240 --> 0:05:12.080 the same goal, but we do it differently, and that 0:05:12.240 --> 0:05:17.240 conflict side tracks us and gets us off course, so 0:05:17.320 --> 0:05:20.440 we don't have the desired outcome, or it. 0:05:20.520 --> 0:05:24.960 Extends and prolongs the outcome. You see, those are the 0:05:24.960 --> 0:05:26.920 things that's at the end of the day. 0:05:27.120 --> 0:05:28.880 It's not the way you do it or I do 0:05:28.960 --> 0:05:32.159 it that's gonna bring the happiness at the end of 0:05:32.240 --> 0:05:35.000 the day. It's gonna be peace that binds us together 0:05:35.080 --> 0:05:41.880 in unity that brings the happiness, the achievement, the outcome. 0:05:41.480 --> 0:05:42.039 Of the goal. 0:05:42.640 --> 0:05:45.440 You see, there is a place in your spirit that says, 0:05:45.480 --> 0:05:48.719 I am a peacemaker, and because I'm a peacemaker, I 0:05:48.720 --> 0:05:51.440 can trust God to fight my battles for me. I 0:05:51.440 --> 0:05:54.320 can trust God to bring the outcome, even if it's 0:05:54.360 --> 0:05:57.719 not the way I would do it. The attitude of 0:05:57.800 --> 0:06:01.440 a peacemaker is what we are all need. We're all 0:06:01.480 --> 0:06:05.320 gonna face challenges along the way. Those challenges are getting 0:06:05.360 --> 0:06:09.200 along with people because we all want our way we 0:06:09.320 --> 0:06:11.800 all want to do it our way, our way or 0:06:11.839 --> 0:06:14.480 no way. You know, sometimes it can get to the 0:06:14.520 --> 0:06:17.640 lowest part of our maturity, and it can be if 0:06:17.640 --> 0:06:18.800 you don't do it my way, I'm. 0:06:18.640 --> 0:06:19.440 Not gonna be happy. 0:06:20.040 --> 0:06:21.560 In fact, if you don't do it my way, we're 0:06:21.560 --> 0:06:23.160 not moving forward from this point. 0:06:24.040 --> 0:06:28.719 That is what is hindering our outcome. We've got to 0:06:28.880 --> 0:06:33.599 learn that if we want peace, it starts with us. 0:06:34.240 --> 0:06:36.440 We can make it. I was talking to. 0:06:36.480 --> 0:06:41.000 A beautiful, really sharp, brilliant young girl the other day 0:06:41.000 --> 0:06:42.960 and we were having a conversation. I could just see 0:06:42.960 --> 0:06:44.960 how sharp she was and with it and right on 0:06:45.000 --> 0:06:47.039 the ball. And she began to tell me, I have 0:06:47.080 --> 0:06:48.600 a strong personality. 0:06:49.040 --> 0:06:49.280 You know. 0:06:49.400 --> 0:06:52.000 I love to win. I love the feeling of winning. 0:06:52.279 --> 0:06:55.080 She says, there's just something about being right. It's a 0:06:55.080 --> 0:06:59.640 great feeling. And then she paused and she said, you know, 0:07:00.400 --> 0:07:07.120 those traits of mine, those personality traits, I'm realizing they're beginning. 0:07:06.839 --> 0:07:08.159 To slowly. 0:07:09.240 --> 0:07:15.040 Demise my marriage. They're beginning to change the atmosphere of 0:07:15.040 --> 0:07:19.880 my home. It's beginning to affect my children. You see, 0:07:19.920 --> 0:07:22.840 if you have to be right all the time, and 0:07:22.880 --> 0:07:26.920 you love that feeling of being right, you're making other 0:07:26.960 --> 0:07:30.760 people feel wrong. You see, we don't want to make 0:07:30.800 --> 0:07:32.680 the people in our life feel wrong. 0:07:34.160 --> 0:07:37.200 We've got to let other people be right. We've got 0:07:37.200 --> 0:07:41.760 to allow them to be right. Doesn't mean that you 0:07:41.880 --> 0:07:47.440 have to agree with everything that they're saying. Just let 0:07:47.480 --> 0:07:48.120 them be right. 0:07:48.240 --> 0:07:51.520 It doesn't make you wrong. It makes you a peace maker. 0:07:52.440 --> 0:07:55.160 It makes you a peacemaker. It makes you a person 0:07:55.280 --> 0:07:57.280 because says I'm gonna make peace. 0:07:58.520 --> 0:08:01.120 Because I don't want to be right all the time. 0:08:01.200 --> 0:08:04.480 It's too costly. It's too expensive. 0:08:05.040 --> 0:08:08.800 It isn't worth the price of my home, of my family, 0:08:08.920 --> 0:08:11.200 of my children, of my job. 0:08:12.040 --> 0:08:17.160 It's too costly. We have to be willing to be 0:08:17.200 --> 0:08:18.040 a peacemaker. 0:08:18.440 --> 0:08:21.320 I looked up the synonyms for peacemaker and listened to 0:08:21.320 --> 0:08:27.720 some of these words. It's diplomat, arbitrator, mediator, calmer, sooth, 0:08:29.080 --> 0:08:34.320 go between. Sounds like the characteristics of Jesus, doesn't it. 0:08:34.320 --> 0:08:37.520 It sounds like the attitudes that he walked this earth 0:08:37.559 --> 0:08:43.360 with and he won anyway. You see, he is saying 0:08:43.800 --> 0:08:47.600 our attitudes should be like that. You see. 0:08:47.679 --> 0:08:51.600 He made peace for us so that we could make 0:08:51.640 --> 0:08:53.120 peace for others. 0:08:53.559 --> 0:08:56.240 We could be reconcilers of peace. 0:08:57.480 --> 0:09:00.280 When Joel and I were really young in our marriage, 0:09:00.320 --> 0:09:03.840 before he was ever the pastor, we were at a 0:09:03.880 --> 0:09:08.240 meeting and he was talking to this gentleman and I 0:09:08.360 --> 0:09:11.480 came up a few minutes into the conversation. But this 0:09:11.559 --> 0:09:16.480 gentleman was talking passionately and really had these convictions about 0:09:16.679 --> 0:09:18.960 what he was talking about, and he was going on 0:09:19.120 --> 0:09:21.439 and on, and to me, some of them sounded a 0:09:21.480 --> 0:09:24.760 little unrealistic and a little bit wrong in my opinion. 0:09:24.840 --> 0:09:27.040 But I wasn't going to say anything because I really 0:09:27.320 --> 0:09:28.720 wasn't part of the conversation. 0:09:28.840 --> 0:09:30.760 So I just sat there and listened. 0:09:30.880 --> 0:09:33.040 And I looked at Joel, and Joel was standing there 0:09:33.040 --> 0:09:34.880 with a pleasant look on his face. 0:09:34.960 --> 0:09:37.840 He was being very cordial, and I thought, oh, okay, 0:09:38.520 --> 0:09:39.040 all right. 0:09:39.640 --> 0:09:42.280 So as I was standing there just listening to the conversation, 0:09:42.760 --> 0:09:46.320 a little while later, Joel had somehow given us an 0:09:46.400 --> 0:09:49.240 exit point. He had dismissed us and said, hey, we 0:09:49.280 --> 0:09:52.360 got to go. So as we were leaving a little later, 0:09:52.400 --> 0:09:54.800 we were in the car going home, and I said 0:09:54.840 --> 0:09:56.840 to Joel, I said, hey, you know, who was that 0:09:57.000 --> 0:09:59.520 guy and what did you think about his opinion? And 0:10:00.080 --> 0:10:01.439 you know, I didn't know what I thought about it. 0:10:01.440 --> 0:10:03.000 I don't know if I agree with all that. And 0:10:03.040 --> 0:10:06.600 I said, did you agree with his opinion? And Joel 0:10:06.640 --> 0:10:09.959 said no, I didn't. And I said, well, you were 0:10:10.000 --> 0:10:11.680 standing there so nice and everything. 0:10:11.720 --> 0:10:16.720 I thought, maybe you did. I'll never forget what he said. 0:10:17.640 --> 0:10:21.520 He said, Victoria, I wasn't put on this earth to 0:10:21.640 --> 0:10:22.920 straighten everybody out. 0:10:28.320 --> 0:10:30.280 You know, some people think they were. 0:10:31.200 --> 0:10:33.720 They're the judge and the jury. 0:10:34.440 --> 0:10:39.440 I thought that was so profound, very deep. I thought, 0:10:39.600 --> 0:10:40.120 I like that. 0:10:40.960 --> 0:10:44.520 I'm going to remember that. Have you ever interjected in 0:10:44.600 --> 0:10:48.120 a conversation? And later on when you left, maybe when 0:10:48.160 --> 0:10:49.040 you got home, you thought. 0:10:48.880 --> 0:10:51.240 Why did I do that? I I just wish I 0:10:51.240 --> 0:10:55.280 wouldn't have said anything. We ought to adapt that motto. 0:10:56.240 --> 0:10:59.960 I wasn't put on this earth to straighten everybody out. 0:11:01.080 --> 0:11:05.640 You know, that doesn't mean that we can't have opinions, 0:11:06.240 --> 0:11:10.240 likes and dislikes that differ. You know, even in the 0:11:10.280 --> 0:11:15.200 most difficult conversations. If we will come from a place 0:11:15.240 --> 0:11:21.240 of honoring God, from a place of a peacemaker, a 0:11:21.360 --> 0:11:26.520 place of unity, that's how we're going to make it 0:11:26.559 --> 0:11:27.199 in this life. 0:11:27.200 --> 0:11:30.560 That's how we're going to keep the bond of peace. 0:11:31.320 --> 0:11:34.479 We all know that we have to have difficult conversations. 0:11:34.760 --> 0:11:38.400 But it's not about having our way. It's about saying, God, 0:11:38.520 --> 0:11:41.320 I want to converse with this person. I want to 0:11:41.320 --> 0:11:44.559 be intelligent about it. But I don't have to have 0:11:44.679 --> 0:11:49.200 my way. I can let someone else be right and God, 0:11:49.240 --> 0:11:51.400 it doesn't have to be done my way. There is 0:11:51.480 --> 0:11:55.160 more ways to a point than just my way. There's 0:11:55.240 --> 0:11:58.319 more ways to a common goal than just my way. 0:11:59.160 --> 0:12:01.400 Sometimes you've got to know when to take your hands 0:12:01.440 --> 0:12:03.600 off of it, and when you've got to say, God, 0:12:03.960 --> 0:12:05.800 this is in the way I would do it. But 0:12:05.840 --> 0:12:07.959 you know what, I'm gonna zip it up because I'm 0:12:08.000 --> 0:12:11.319 gonna keep unity through the bond of peace, through the 0:12:11.400 --> 0:12:15.440 common ground of peace and God, I'm not gonna try 0:12:15.440 --> 0:12:19.000 to fight my way. I'm gonna allow you to step in. 0:12:19.679 --> 0:12:22.520 And you see, God says, you're not blessed when you're right. 0:12:23.120 --> 0:12:25.920 You're not blessed when you win every argument. He says, 0:12:25.920 --> 0:12:29.600 the blessing comes from being a peacemaker. See, there's a 0:12:29.640 --> 0:12:33.360 blessing on the other side of that promise, and we've 0:12:33.400 --> 0:12:35.480 got to walk in that place of. 0:12:35.480 --> 0:12:36.680 A peacemaker's heart. 0:12:37.200 --> 0:12:41.400 The Bible says in Ephesians it says to bring unity 0:12:41.640 --> 0:12:44.640 through the spirit, through the bond of peace. If we're 0:12:44.640 --> 0:12:47.280 gonna achieve unity, we're going to have to be active, 0:12:47.720 --> 0:12:50.360 and we're gonna have to take the initiative to do what. 0:12:50.360 --> 0:12:52.600 It takes to make the peace. 0:12:53.080 --> 0:12:56.160 The scripture says, you know, as far as it's up 0:12:56.160 --> 0:13:01.640 to you, the buck stops there at peace with all men. 0:13:02.160 --> 0:13:06.000 Let's be instruments of peace, because there's a blessing in. 0:13:06.000 --> 0:13:10.040 The life of a peace maker.
