It's worthy of celebration if 0:03:25.360 --> 0:03:29.680 you think about it, because it's what did I write 0:03:29.720 --> 0:03:32.800 down in my notes. It's like one hundred and eighty 0:03:32.880 --> 0:03:39.600 miles wide on average to cross it. The Red Sea. The dead sea, you know, where 0:03:57.000 --> 0:04:01.120 nothing is going out, so nothing can come in. The 0:04:01.600 --> 0:04:05.440 constipated sea. And I don't mean, I don't mean to 0:04:05.480 --> 0:04:08.000 be unappetizing early in my sermon, but I just used 0:04:08.000 --> 0:04:10.120 that word. It came to my mind. There are constipated 0:04:10.200 --> 0:04:19.360 Christians who spiritually sorry to ruin your breakfast. But the 0:04:19.400 --> 0:04:25.080 Red Sea is significant, not only geographically and generationally, but 0:04:25.760 --> 0:04:30.120 symbolically it symbolized something so great for the people. It's 0:04:30.120 --> 0:04:35.200 no surprise that it's mentioned. When Stephen was giving his 0:04:35.440 --> 0:04:38.400 speech to the Sanhedrin in Acts chapter seven, he talked 0:04:38.400 --> 0:04:41.800 about the Red Sea and what God did there. He 0:04:41.960 --> 0:04:44.440 mentioned it by name, the Red Sea. It's literally called 0:04:44.480 --> 0:04:49.479 the sea of reeds, but it was transliterated red Sea. 0:04:49.560 --> 0:04:52.520 And so you see that in Acts chapter seven, and 0:04:52.680 --> 0:04:56.359 interestingly enough, you see it again in Hebrews chapter or 0:04:56.400 --> 0:04:59.960 excuse me, in First Corinthians chapter ten. First Corinthians chapter ten, 0:05:00.440 --> 0:05:04.440 where Paul compares the red Sea that the Israelites went 0:05:04.440 --> 0:05:07.880 through coming out of Egypt to baptism the waters that 0:05:07.920 --> 0:05:10.159 we go through to become a new creation in Christ. 0:05:11.080 --> 0:05:14.080 And so he makes this very special connection that the 0:05:14.080 --> 0:05:17.159 people who originally went through it would have never made. 0:05:18.000 --> 0:05:21.200 But with time and understanding the cross of Jesus Christ 0:05:21.440 --> 0:05:24.480 and the coming of the Holy Spirit, he mentions the 0:05:24.520 --> 0:05:26.880 Red Sea. He doesn't even name it, he just calls 0:05:26.920 --> 0:05:30.640 it the sea. That's how special it was to these people. 0:05:31.000 --> 0:05:33.359 That's how much of an accomplishment and a miracle it 0:05:33.480 --> 0:05:35.599 was to these people. They didn't even have to name it, 0:05:35.600 --> 0:05:37.800 even though there's all these other different It was the 0:05:37.800 --> 0:05:40.120 only body of water. But when they said the sea, 0:05:40.240 --> 0:05:43.360 they knew. They knew that God had to bring them 0:05:43.360 --> 0:05:46.760 through this sea, through this body of water to bring 0:05:46.800 --> 0:05:50.120 them into freedom. And it proved two things when he did. 0:05:50.160 --> 0:05:53.520 Because this is why so significant. It proved that God 0:05:54.120 --> 0:06:01.840 is committed to me being free. He will remove a relationship 0:06:17.240 --> 0:06:28.240 to get me free. He will allow certain pain to 0:06:28.279 --> 0:06:29.960 do its job in my life. Like well, Paul called 0:06:29.960 --> 0:06:31.120 it a thorn in the flesh. He's like, I don't 0:06:31.120 --> 0:06:32.479 really know. And 0:14:53.960 --> 0:14:57.440 someone who six is interesting because it's giving us a 0:14:58.560 --> 0:15:03.480 sort of a what you call this a reflection on 0:15:03.560 --> 0:15:07.480 a revelation that God gave his people so many years earlier. Now, 0:15:07.600 --> 0:15:10.120 Psalm one oh six is written to some people who 0:15:10.160 --> 0:15:13.480 are coming out of captivity and in the process of 0:15:14.480 --> 0:15:18.720 reflecting on that this is a remembrance of what God 0:15:18.720 --> 0:15:23.760 did in Egypt. And he said, when our ancestors were 0:15:23.760 --> 0:15:25.800 in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles, They 0:15:25.800 --> 0:15:29.240 did not remember your kindness, and they rebelled by the sea, 0:15:29.320 --> 0:15:32.880 the Red Sea. Now you know that really got me 0:15:32.960 --> 0:15:36.320 because I've always taught about and thought about how they 0:15:36.400 --> 0:15:38.720 rebelled in the wilderness once they got out of Egypt. 0:15:39.560 --> 0:15:43.560 But the Red Sea I always associated with faith, and 0:15:43.640 --> 0:15:45.840 I think you should too, because you probably never had 0:15:45.840 --> 0:15:48.800 faith that great in your life to go through some 0:15:48.840 --> 0:15:52.120 water too deep to swim through. And well, it's so 0:15:52.200 --> 0:15:55.280 many people. I mean, good grief. I barely have faith 0:15:55.320 --> 0:15:57.120 for for eighty five traffic. You know what I mean. 0:15:58.000 --> 0:15:59.840 I'm just telling you the truth. I mean, I think 0:16:00.240 --> 0:16:02.720 I think it's great faith. The writer of Hebrews also 0:16:02.800 --> 0:16:05.240 mentions the Red Sea. Remember earlier when I said, Hebrews, 0:16:05.320 --> 0:16:06.720 this is the one I was thinking about. I just 0:16:06.760 --> 0:16:09.680 remembered it. He said, by faith, the children of Israel 0:16:09.680 --> 0:16:12.120 crossed through the Red Sea, though when their enemies tried 0:16:12.160 --> 0:16:15.760 to do it, they drown. So I always associated the 0:16:15.760 --> 0:16:18.920 Red Sea with faith. It was interesting to me that 0:16:19.040 --> 0:16:22.720 in this Psalm, in reflecting on it, he doesn't mention 0:16:23.080 --> 0:16:26.040 the rebellions that we typically know about. When they got 0:16:26.040 --> 0:16:29.080 in the wilderness and they started complaining, Oh, we got 0:16:29.080 --> 0:16:31.560 to eat mana every day. Mom, do we have to 0:16:31.560 --> 0:16:33.920 eat this again? Moses, do we have to eat this 0:16:34.040 --> 0:16:37.160 mana again? We're sick of mana. We used to have 0:16:37.280 --> 0:16:39.720 quail in each of God, Do I really have to 0:16:39.720 --> 0:16:41.560 go back to this job? Well, you did pray for 0:16:41.600 --> 0:16:43.320 that job, okay, But I'm not going to talk about 0:16:43.320 --> 0:16:46.480 that because it wasn't the wilderness wanderings that were in 0:16:46.520 --> 0:16:50.960 focus here. It was that moment when they had seen 0:16:51.000 --> 0:16:54.480 the hand of God and they had seen God afflict 0:16:54.520 --> 0:16:59.080 the Egyptians with the plagues, turn the Nile River to blood, 0:17:00.000 --> 0:17:03.080 and coming out of that loaded with the substance of 0:17:03.160 --> 0:17:06.720 Egypt to pay them back for everything that they didn't 0:17:06.720 --> 0:17:10.520 get while they were working for Pharaoh.
