You hear it practically every Sunday morning when you go to worship. But very few people know the full significance. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Ghost be with you all. That's a familiar portion of the Word of God. You hear it practically every Sunday morning when you go to worship. But very few people know the full significance. Our poor little puny minds cannot fully fathom the depth of the meaning of just that one verse of Scripture. But what I want to talk to you about today is the person of the Holy Spirit. And one cannot have fellowship. A person cannot have fellowship with another person except the second is a person. That's right. You can only have fellowship with another person. And yet to this portion the Word of God says, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, the... fellowship with the Holy Ghost. And you can only have communion with a person. You can only have fellowship with a person. You know that you are a person because you think, because you love, and because you will bring certain things into action. If you ever doubt whether or not you are a person, you have proof of it because you have intellect, because you can think. You have proof that you are a person because you can love, because you have the ability to bring certain things into action. If we can see from the Word of God that the Holy Spirit has these capabilities, we will have to conclude that He is a person. Not just one of the attributes, but a person. And sometimes I think it's the hardest thing in the world for men and women to realize that the Holy Ghost is a person. And when He can... Reveal this glorious truth to your heart. And when you come face to face with the fact and you have the assurance that the Holy Ghost is a person, then it's the most glorious thing in the world to have this communion, to have this fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Now pause with me for just a moment. Let's consider his capacity of intellect. And everything that I'm going to give you today is from the Word of God. 1 Corinthians, the second chapter. Let's begin with the tenth verse. But God hath revealed them unto us. By His Spirit. And He's talking about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Ghost. The two are one and the same. Whenever the Scripture speaks of His Spirit, and whenever it speaks of the Holy Ghost, it's the one and the same person. And the Scripture says here, God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit. The Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost. For the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. Oh, and how hungry are his saints for the deep things of God. Every atom of my being longs to know. the deep things of God. And yet it says here that the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the Spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit. spirit of God. That is the reason that the deep things of the word, the deep truths of the word, the things that are spiritual are only spiritually revealed. One can read a book on science and if you have the mental capacity just reading the book you can understand. Or perhaps take a book on medicine. You may go to the library and get a very profound edition regarding medicine. If you have the mental ability, the mental capacity, you can sit down and read the book and understand it. But when it comes to the things spiritual, Spiritual things are only spiritually revealed. If only you could understand that. That is the reason I've seen some precious saints of God who did not have any more than a fifth grade education. And yet some of those precious saints of God, some of those precious little old sisters, can no more. more about the spiritual things, they have a greater understanding of the deep truths of the word than perhaps someone who has gone to seminary and has all of his degrees and stands in the pulpit, a great personality, a man with great learning, and yet that one knows nothing absolutely nothing about the deep things of the spirit. Because, my friend, spiritual things are only spiritually discerned. That's right. How often I stand aghast, I am amazed. I see the Limitations of people of great intellect when it comes to the Bible, the Word of God. Spiritual depths. Oh, just thank God for the spiritual truths that you know. For these things are only... Spiritually revealed. Haven't you heard people say, the Bible is all Greek to me. I can't understand a thing. I open the Bible and I try to read, but I don't understand what I'm reading. That's because they've never been born again. That which is born of the flesh is flesh. But that which is born of the spirit is spirit. And it is not until after you've been born of the Spirit that the Spirit becomes your teacher and opens your understanding to the deep truths in His Word. That's it. Spirit of God. Now we have received. Not the spirit of the world. But the spirit. Which is of God. That we might. Know the things. That are freely. Given to us of God. I like that word. Freely there. He gives so freely. That we might know. The things that are so. freely given to us of God. The Spirit knoweth. What does He know? He knows the deep things of God. All the divine truth that is in the Father is understood and known by the Spirit. Now let's go a little deeper into something. That is very revealing. The 8th chapter of Romans. Begin with the 26th verse. Likewise, the Spirit, the Holy Spirit, also help with our infirmities, our defects, our personal failing. For we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is in the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. you'll never know what a comfort this portion of the Word of God has been to me. This is another portion of the Word that I keep underlined, that is marked in every Bible I've ever owned. We are human. We're so human. And when we talk about the will of God, still contend that the hardest thing in the world sometimes is to know God's perfect will. More than anything in the world, I want God's perfect will. Every child of God listening to me this very moment will agree with me that more than anything, you want God's perfect will. When you love Him enough, you'll want His will above everything else. He has a perfect will and he has a permissive will. And one is his permissive will, one is his perfect will. How often you've heard me say that God has a perfect plan for our lives. And it's when we live according to his will that we're blessed. We're favored. And he works all things out for our good and his glory. But there's many a time in our lives when we come to the crossroads and it's mighty hard to know what decision to make. What is his will? You've stood at those crossroads. So have I over and over and over again. There isn't a day in my life that I do not have to make decisions. In making those decisions, I know that one decision is His perfect will, and if I make the wrong decision, it is His permissive will, and I can miss. the whole thing, and get myself into an awful lot of trouble. Oh, I tell you, this will of the Lord is something. When you say, Miss Kummer, what do you do then when you do not know how to make a decision? And it's something that's vitally important. I'll tell you exactly what I do. I do nothing. Just nothing. If I act in haste, I may regret it. And so I look up and I get to the place where I have no will of my own in the matter. And then I say, Precious Holy Spirit, know the will of God because you are perfect wisdom. You know all things. And I pray that you'll just take me, the problem, and all that concerns it, present it before the throne of God. I surrender the whole thing to you. Let me read it now. Likewise, the spirit also helpeth our infirmities. That word infirmities means our defects, our personal failings. If you're human, you're going to have defects. There's no perfection there. our personal failing. Sometimes our emotion gets involved. Sometimes our heart gets involved instead of our head. And sometimes our head gets involved instead of our heart when we make decisions because we're human. So, the Holy Spirit also helpeth our infirmities, our weaknesses. For we know not what we should pray for as we ought. But the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession. He maketh intercession for you, for me, for the saints, according to the will of God. He knows the will of God. The Holy Spirit knows because he possesses the capacity of intellect. He has the ability to know, which is one of the necessary components of a true personality. If the Holy Spirit can make this real to your heart today, this can be one of the greatest awakenings in this life of yours that you've ever known. Do you understand now why I say to you that I'm so sold on the Holy Spirit, the person of the Holy Spirit? Do you understand how easy it is to have fellowship? To have communion with one. Who knows. The will of God. Because he possesses. The capacity of intellect. Oh God. Help you to understand this. All right. Let me give you another scripture. I hope. You're enjoying this. I sure am. You know, I'd rather talk to you about the Holy Spirit than anything I know anything about. He'll always magnify Jesus. He'll always lift up Jesus. I'm so dependent on the Holy Spirit for everything. Now, here is something that's vitally important. As we look into the person and the personality of the Holy Ghost, Ephesians, the fourth chapter, the thirtieth verse. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice. Grieve not the Holy Spirit. We see from this as a person. He has the capacity for emotion. Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God. Grief is the manifestation of the capacity for emotion. If you have the capacity for grief, then you also have the capacity to love. And I see here from the Word of God that the Holy Spirit as a person has the capacity for grief. Then I know from this that He also has the ability and the capacity to love. That is almost overwhelming. That is almost overwhelming. To know that God the Father loves me, and I am His child by adoption. It's marvelous to know that Jesus loves me. And I know that he does. Because he loved me enough to die for me. I have loved thee with an everlasting love. What greater love than that? Oh, to know that the Father loves me. To know that... Jesus loves me. And then to know that the Holy Spirit has the ability, the capacity to love me. To love me. There is nothing thing in the whole world that I'd rather have. Nothing. You can have the title deed to the whole world. I would never envy you. I do not envy the queen on the throne. I do not envy the one who needs but speak. And they can have all that which money can buy. Take it all. I seek but one thing. I covet but one thing. So help me. I covet, I seek the love. of my Heavenly Father. Just to know that He's there loving me. It takes away all the uncertain days of life. It takes away all the fear. It takes away all the anxieties. To know that Jesus, in position of Great High Priest, ever living to make intercession for me, loves. Then I'm never alone, not really. I cannot go down in defeat. I can have victory over everything. And then to have the Holy Spirit love me. I'm rich.
