FINDING FULFILMENT 2Tim 4:7-8 TRINITY HOUSE LAGOS NIGERIA WITH APOSTLE

So it's a thank you so much, thank you very much, happy fifteenth anniversary, first and foremost of the church. That's indeed the Lord's doing. And I hope you don't mind that our leaders in one minute of expressing our gratitude to God on behalf of everyone here standing for his faithfulness. I'm a very thoughtful and grateful person, and I don't take for granted the goodness of God and teaching in such and if I think it's a good thing to start by saying thank you, so someone who joined me, lift your hands to heaven, and in one minute just say thank you to the King of kings. Go ahead and reberalize your gratitude for fifteen years of his goodness. The Bible says, let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Lord will give you praise on behalf of the Angel over his house, the leadership, that pership. We thank you for your hand, for your wisdom, for your grace. Thank you, lady to heart hands or this fifteenth and investory testimony testament of your faithfulness. Now ask him to give you an encounter tonight. God lives by his word, He comes to us by his word. He blesses by his word. Ask him that within the time that will have shared in the world, that is what will come to any five enlightened bill to transform impart upon your heart. Are you still praying? Bible says for everyone that asked, receiveth in Jesus' much lessening. We pray, Father, we thank you again for this opportunity. We pray that the entrance of your word indeed will give light and understanding onto us. Be glorified in Jesus' name, you may be gloriously seated. God bless you. I'll be sharing for the time that I have along the theme of your anniversary. I was very touched when I found out the team because it's been one that has meant so much for me through the years. For many of you who know, I was greatly inspired and influenced by the late doctor Miles Monroe. His life his teachings influenced me greatly and helped to shape my understanding of the matters that relate to purpose and destiny. And so we're going to be looking at the subject of effective living. Effective living for a topic you may want to write. Effective living. The goal is to charge our hearts and to help that at the end of this teaching, I hope that someone will be inspired enough to have a clearer picture of God's expectation for your life alongside they road map that leads you to a life of purpose and a great destiny. If that is you shout a loud believing amen. Right. So I'll start by doing a few definitions alike to teach and provide clarity and so that we don't take for granted some of the words. I think one of the things I've learned teaching the Word of God is that we take for granted words and their meanings. It's important in teaching people that there be a unified understanding as to terminologies. It's a very costly assumption to believe that just because everyone is saying the same word, they understand it to mean the same thing. In English, orange means orangea means banana. But when you are defining concept spiritual concepts, psychological concepts, because people view them from the lens of culture, history and so on and so forth, it's very important to have a unified understanding so that you're not building on rubles. Important that people are guided and that when you mentioned a concept, a term, a name, everybody can believe the same way because they understand the same meaning. Are we together? So for very quickly four terminologists would define so that it creates platform for my teaching tonight. The first word I'd want to define is a word destiny. Destiny. This is a word that we've heard time and again, and it means many things to many people. But for the purpose of our discussion tonight, allow me do a definition that guides are understanding. I define destiny as the preordained path, the preordained path that has been designed for you. I'll give you two definitions. Number one, the preordained path that has been designed for you is called destiny. The preordained path that has been for you. Second definition, God's expected end for you. God's expected end for you. So two definitions. Number one for destiny, the preordained path that God has designed for you. For any man at all can be called destiny. Second definition, God's expected end for you. We find two scriptures to brotress on this definition. First is Jeremia tow eighteen nine and verse eleven. It says, for I know the thoughts that I think towards you, said the Lord, they are thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. To give you an expected end. In Romance, chapter eight and verse thirty, the Bible says those who he predestined. Paul was speaking now that those he predestined he also called, and those he called he also justified, and those he justified he glorified. So you see the progression predestined, called justified, glorified. Again predestined, called justified and glorified. So there is such a concept in our work with God as preordination. In fact, you find that again Paul teaching the church in Ephesus Inefficient chapter two and verse ten, he says, we are his workmanship. He says, recreated in Christ, Jesus were together praise the name of the Lord. And then when we get to chapter three and verse ten, he was giving a defense as to the basis of his apostolic authority. And then he says verse ten, to the intent that now onto principalities and powers might be made known the many for wisdom of God. But when you back up to chapter two and verse ten, I like us to see that so that you get the perspective as toc what I'm defining two verse ten. Okay, beautiful. We are His workmanship. It says, created in Christ onto good work, which God had prepared beforehand. That's NKJV. King James will say God had pre ordained. So this is a preordination. Are we together praise the name of the Lord. Second definition, second terminology, very quickly, is the word purpose the word purpose? Allow me do two quick definitions again. Number one. My first definition, as I'd like you to hear and learn tonight, is that purpose is defined as the reason or the motivation for which something is done, for which it exists. I take that slowly so that if you're writing, you can write, purpose is the reason or the motivation for which something is done or for which it exists. So when you say purpose number one, you are attempting to describe the reason or the motivation for which something is done. And you might, okay, thank you, praise good, Praise God. Is this better? Are you sure? Okay, praise good? The reason or motivation for which something, thank you very much, something is done or for which it exists. Do you have that down? Praise God? Another definition, Purpose can furthermore be seen as the role a person or a thing has to play as part of a grand overall plan. My apologies if I'm stretching you do I repeat that again. So, first definition for purpose the reason or motivation for which something is done, for which it exists. Second definition, the role a person or thing has to play as part of a grand overall plan is called purpose. The role a person or a thing has to play as part of a grand overall plan. Ready for the third terminology, potential potential. So we're defining four terminologies. One Destiny, number two, Purpose, number three potential. Potential talks about inherent abilities. If you're writing, please write inherent abilities. Inherent abilities that are capable of being developed and refined to one's advantage. Potential, inherent abilities that are capable of being developed, capable of being refined to one's advantage. Potential refer to inherent abilities capable of being developed and refined to one's advantage. Ready for the last terminology, right, The last is fulfillment. So forwards one, Destiny, two, Purpose, three potential fulfillment. This is a very personal definition, and I hope that it will impact upon you as it did when I got to study and derive this definition. I'll give you a general one, and then i'll give you my definition of it. So fulfillment generally talks about the satisfaction from achieving goals. You may want to write that down. The satisfaction from achieving goals can be termed as fulfillment, the satisfaction from achieving goals. Now, let me give you my definition of it, and I hope by the end of my teaching it will make sense. Please start this word in your mind because it will make sense as my teaching on fold. This is my definition of fulfillment. The satisfaction that is derived from knowing that you have lived your life effectively serving the purposes of God and being a blessing to humanity. I'll take that again, the satisfaction that is derived from knowing that you have lived your life effectively serving the purposes of God and being a blessing to humanity. Slowly, for one last time, I'll read that for you, so that you write the satisfaction derived from know that you have lived your life effectively serving the purposes of God and being a blessing to humanity. So four words for terminologies. Still remember one destiny, two, purpose, three, potential. Four. Now I can begin to teach. Allelujah, Praise the name of the Lord. I have studied the subject of meaning purpose, not just because God called me into ministry, but because I desired as a person to live a very full, rich, effective life. I I've seen people live lives that I commend as meaningful, and I've seen others live lives that you wonder what they were doing with their lives. I've seen people fail, I've seen people succeed. I've seen people rejoice. I've seen people regret. I've seen people inspire a generation in and through their lives, and I've seen many discourage. As the thought of someone's life and the way he lived his life, my life would change many years ago as I watched an obituary, please lend me your attention. And so I'm sitting in front of a television and they're announcing the transition of a man and it's not the way they announce, you know, transitions today. So here I'm sitting and then they're singing the song I'll Fly Away or Glory, and they run a slide. I think they were able to the man died in his eighties, but I still recall and they were able to capture his picture from the earliest they could find, you know, those days with the whole afro and all of that, and this started running the slide as a teenager to a young adult perhaps his middle age, to maybe a grandfather, and they were able to capture the final moments with the children and grandchildren on the bed before he transated, and they ran that slide within the course of maybe a few seconds marks a minute, And for some strange reason, it impacted upon my life in a way. I looked at a man's entire journey in one minute. And the scripture that rang into my spirit was so teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts onto wisdom. I made up my mind from that encounter that I was going to live a life of meaning, a life of purpose, that I would not just exist. I would not just run the course of my life, living daily hoping that I'm making an impact. I made up my mind to be very intentional now about my life. And so it led me to a number of studies. And I love to read and study a bit about psychology because it helps me to understand human behavior and some of the things that I'll be sharing with you, both scriptural truths as well as established psychological facts. One of them is what we call the science of achievement and the art of fulfillment. Please lend me your attention for one minute. So, behavioral psychologists have taught us that there are certain unified motivations behind the activities of all men, regardless your kind of person, regardless your level of exposure, regardless your faith practice, your orientation, and so on and so forth. And there are six of them. These are the core motivations behind any activity you see on earth. Now, those who are attempting to get these psychological motivations do not know that this is what motivates them. Is the reason you desire to have a family, a car, a job, promotion, literally everything. And I'm going to run the list for you. You ready. Number one, The first motivation behind all human behavior is called the need for security. Please write that down. The need for security. Security by every definition, financial security, security as we know physically, and so on and so forth. There is such an obsession in men for security they are not aware as to the extent of their desire for security by any and every definition. The reason why people join or called groups is the reason why your cay is locked outside right now, in spite of the fact that you're in church is the reason why your bag is locked right now, in spite of the fact that you're looking at me, there's light on you and that bag, and yet you will not take a chance. It's called security. Are we together? Number two? The second motivation behind human behavior is called the need for variety or newness. The need for variety or newness is the reason why breaking new cells anything that is new. Can you imagine that people fill up a stadium, for instance, and pay I don't know how much they pay over something that will be recorded and just five hours later it will be free online for anyone. So why did you have to be there to pray? There is an obsession in men for newness and variety is the reason why you take protein or you don't want to see it the same way. Are we together? You can turn it into any other thing, but just make sure your mind is tricking to believing you're taking something else the name of the Lord. The need for newness or variety. Are we learning already? The third motivation behind all human behavior is called the need for love and acceptance. In fact, hold on a doubt, the need for significance. Let's take it sequentially, so the first security, the second variety of newness, the third. This is a masterclass for you free of charge. So once you have that, then we'll go into preaching. Praise the name of the Lord, someone learning the need for significance. Look or please? Why do you frown when I call you Joshua Selman instead of man of God, pastor or apostle Joshua Selman? What did the title add to you? The need for significance. There's such an obsession for significance. A whole industry has been built around this need for significance. I know you do a lot, especially around your area. He have seen it happen in many weddings where people who don't know the man dance and they call his name, beating drums and they have a way of rhyming the names. And you see a man bringing out money he did not plan for and just giving to them. I mean they dance. As soon as they collected, they leave him as though they go to another person. Significance allelujah. MCS received hundreds of thousands millions for mastering the art of making people feel significant, ladies and gentlemen. Without no further I do want to introduce ABC XYZ, and you find the person trying to be humble, trying to contain himself. Significance is someone learning already. Number four. The fourth need psychological need of all men. And it's important what you are learning because you will connect to the subb of purpose and fulfillment. The fourth motivation behind all human behavior is the need for love and acceptance. You pay attention to that. It's a very serious one. The worst thing that can happen to any human being from a psychological standpoint is rejection. That word rejection. It can wreck a person more than something physical. It's an emotional wound that can last for a lifetime. Love and acceptance. Number five. The fifth motivation behind human desires, activities, and needs is the need for growth. The need for growth. That's why you celebrate graduations, That's why you celebrate promotions. That's why you celebrate intellectual milestones because it gives you and those who care to know, a perception that you are growing. Allelujah. Unfortunately, the only kind of growth that is natural is biological growth. Every other kind of growth is structurally engineered. If you want to grow intellectually, is something that is going to be a harvest of seeds, intellectual seeds that you saw. And the sixth for sake of time. The sixth and the final motivation behind all human needs is the need or the desire for impact and contribution. Impact and contribution. It's almost an unwritten rule that when you succeed to a measure, immediately society believes it and they put pressure on you to create a structure around your life to give back to society, whether an angio, a foundation, whatever you call it. They even reward you. Am I right on that they give grants and all kinds of things. So a quick recap the six motivations behind human behavior. This is the reason, and I tell you why most people wake up in the morning, why they cry. Why do you rejoice when you buy a metal? You call it a car? What gives you joy? It's not the metal? No, the metal does something to you that checks this list. One of the six are just listed. Why do you hold a piece of paper you call it a certificate and you dance around and feel very fulfilled. Why do you hold another piece of paper you call it nayra or dollar or pound, and you look so motivated and secured in the presence of that paper or perhaps a card. Allelujah. Why do you construct sand? You call it a house and you live so comfortably unsecured in it. All of these things are not the things that really give us fulfillment. They feed back into one or more of these lists. The need for security, the need for newness or variety, need for significance, the need for love and acceptance, the need for growth, and the need for impact and contribution. When you understand this, it is one of the keys to taming excessism in your life, because then you will know that when you find a desire for more of physical things, you can now look deeper. Do I really need those things? Or is there an a way I can derive satisfaction without having to acquire and acquire and acquire. There are two expressions in the Bible that have gotten me concerned. Number one is the poor wise man. That that statement is not supposed to be in use, because poverty and wisdom don't add up the poor wise man. And then another example is the rich fool. You cannot call a man rich and yet him full because wealth, sustainable wealth is a product of wisdom. And yet in this Bible there is the poor wise man and then there is the rich fool, and one was poor and the other was foolish, not necessarily because of what they did, but the motivation behind the things that they did. For instance, the rich fool thought that his rest would be in acquiring and building bands, and he said, my soul find rest in it, and that was what made him a fool. Is someone learning already prass the name of the Lord. Many believers live frustrated lives even though they are born again, because they've not taken time to understand these concepts. And society has put us under perpetual pressure to get things that seem to give us a feedback that we're making progress as per all of these six psychological points that I least, so to the degree to which you feel you are great is the degree to which you check all this lists, security, financial, security, and otherwise newness, variety. You're always making the headlines. We call you a celebrity. And then the degree to which you are significant, the degree to which you are loved and accepted, the degree to which you think you are growing or you are growing actually, and the degree to which you are able to make impact and contribution. This is very powerful. My life changed when I learned this, because I found out that there's one word for every one of these things I listed. It's actually leading to one point. It's called peace. That's it. You add significance plus variety, plus security plus love, acceptance plus growth plus impact and contribution from a psychological term. You just spelt one word. It's called peace. That's it. And Jesus made a profound statement. Is that peace I give you. I live unto you, my peace, my peace. That means there is a way you can route through me and get all of these things, the satisfaction that comes from significance. Please let me your attention. Now we're building my discussion. I'm showing you that there is the human way of achieving all of these things. You can fight, you can lie, you can doctor information, you can live in anger, all because you are trying to check this psychological list. You need security by all means, so whether it means manipulating figures to get money, you need newness by all means. You know, you need love and acceptances by all means, even if it means compromising your faith doesn't matter. And this is the route. But Jesus said, I can give you peace in other words, when you follow me, there is a path I will lead you to that at the end of your life you will be as satisfied as the one who followed a vain path. Trying to pursue this. He said, peace, I give on to you my peace. Do I give you not as the world gives. In fact, he says that his peace can surpass understanding. Are we learning? Now? Prays the name of the Lord. And so I made up my mind, as a man of God, that I would not just pursue all of these things the way the world pursues them, because I found out that if you seek these things I just listed the world's way, it will be an endless cycle of frustration. Something will always be missing, something will always be missing. There are many people, the old that they are, the angrier they get about life and about everyone. They just they hate themselves. They hate orders. They are wounded through their history their life. They wound orders. Society seems to be confused because most people do not know that only God can really give a man peace. So they try to rout it to education, and it only goes so far. They rout it through money. They stretch their intellect from border to border all in a bit to fine fulfillment. It only goes so far. They try family life, it only goes so far. They try recognition, joining groups and associations, It only goes so far. At the end of their life, they're angry because they spent their life investing energy, investing money, and in the end they don't seem to find wholesome peace. And here's what Jesus said. It says, come on to me, all ye that are weary and heavy leading instead, I will give you rest. Hallelujah. Is someone learning now? This is very par powerful. Now let's discuss very quickly five questions that must be asked and answered by anyone who desires to live a life of meaning, purpose fulfillment. If you truly desire to live a life of meaning, purpose and fulfillment, then in addition to all of these backgrounds that we've established, these are the five questions. Regardless what you think God has called you to do, regardless what you are currently doing, regardless how well you are succeeding, are we together you must be able to answer and answer these five questions. Whoever will live an effective life at the end of your days must be one who would have answered these questions properly. Question number one, Who am I? This is a question that everyone seeking to live a life of meaning, a life of purpose must ask an answer. And when you listen to it intellectually, it sounds very simple until you try to answer it. Who am I? It's a very very pregnant question Who am I? Because we leave one of the biggest problems in our world, today's identity crisis. There are different visitors, there are different platforms attempting to sell you an idea of your identity. Social media has a way it attempts to describe you. Your past has a way it attemps to describe you. Your family background away together, your sociological context has a way it tries to define you. People have a way they try to define you. Your current condition has a way it tries to define you. And let me tell you, all of these platforms voices, and their voices are loud enough, and so you find yourself molting into different things depending on who you are listening to part time. So the question now is who am I not? Who is social media saying you are not? Who is your yesterday? Saying you are yesterday? Is so jealous? It will never allow you to comfortably stay in your today until or tomorrow. It will always want to relieve itself. If you cannot answer the question who am I? You can't impact a generation. Who am I? Allelujah? Now, because we are people of faith, we are believers, you will want to add who am I? In Christ? Some forty nine and verse twenty makes a very profound statement Some forty nine and verse twenty. It says, man that is in honor and nowhere not is like a beast in the field that perished. In other words, if you've been ordained by God for a life of greatness, a life of grace together an enviable destiny, not knowing that this is your preordination can leave you a failure in life. The average person here, if who are to probe, may have safe to assume that you may have come from a background where your reality is based on your background was more than enough to have tannished your self worth and destroyed you away together from wrong parenting to sad stories related and connected to your yesterday where you grew up, your sociological context, all of these things have voices. By the time the average person who grew up in the African continent becomes a teenager, You've been more damaged than you are aware. I'm telling you this from friends, to school, to parents, and then unfortunately, if you did not have the opportunity to be led to Christ early, you would have made a lot of costly, avoidable mess. So by the time the average person becomes an adult, you've been so wounded. Several things have dented your identity. So regardless what people say, the clothes will not easily change your identity. The name, the titles that are stumped before you, they won't do a good job. There needs to be an inner walk. Are we together now? Yes? And only the Holy Spirit can do that, even for Jesus. Isn't it interesting, ladies and gentlemen, that the disciples walked with Jesus. They ate with him, They slept on the same place, They watched him as he performed miracles. But one time Jesus began to probe into their understanding of his identity, and he said, who do men say that I, the Son of Man are? And he was shocked. All of those guys who are around him performing miracles, they didn't know who he was. They began to muma. They said very good question. Some say you are elig some say you are one of the prophets. These were not strangers. And he said, all right, so you've worked with me. What is your conclusion? And they were all silent. Only one person for Peter, is that I know who thou art. Thou at Christ, the son of the Living God. And it says, flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but the spirit of my Father. The subject of identity is very important. You become healed the day you know who you are and and who you are in Christ. Therapy can go so far, counseling can go so far. Then needs to be a supernatural walk by the Holy Ghost to help you redefine your identity. That's where your confidence comes from. Let me tell you a few things as the Bible presents as to who you are. First John, chapter three and verse one. Profound scripture. First John, chapter three and verse one. Are you getting blessed tonight? First John three and verse one? Help us media. Let's look at first John chapter three and verse one. It says, behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us? That we should be called sons of God. The word son there has nothing to do with gender. Hallelujah. Sons of God, Sons of God. He says, Tatos is a description of his Tatos sons of God in Matthew chapter five. Let me quote it quickly for sake of time. You read from verse thirteen to sixteen. Jesus is teaching in what we call the Beatitudes, and here's what he says. When we get to chapter five and verse thirteen, he says, you are the salt of the earth. Very profound statement. You know what that means. The assignment of salt is to add taste, value and also to preserve. He says, you are the salt of the earth. But if the salt has lost his seven he says, where which shall it be salted? It is good for nothing except to be thrown down and trodden on the foot of men. Then verse fourteen says you are the light of the world. You are a city that is set on a heel that cannot be hidden. It says, neither do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but that they put it on a candlestick or a lampstand, and it gives light to everyone in the room. The changes in verse sixteen, It says, let your lights. The word let means permit, don't restrict, don't restrain, Allow your light to so shine before men that they may see your good deeds. And then you glorify your father in heaven. In John chapter fifteen and verse eight, it says, hearing is our father glorified when we bear much fruit. Same John fifteen and verse sixteen, it says, you have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you. Ordained you. You know what it means to then It doesn't just mean to pour oil or to give you a collar. It means to legitimize your operation. So it says, I've ordained you to go and bear fruit, and that your fruit will remain. What does the Bible say about you? It calls you the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and ladies and gentlemen, let God be true, and all men liars. What does the Bible call you? It calls you a king and a priest Revelations chapter five and weverst ten that we have become today a kingdom of priests. The Bible says you are a chosen generation. The Bible says you are a royal priesthood a peculiar people. It says that you are being called forth to show the praises is the Greek word took sasso, the slaunting of a man's glory, to show forth the praises of him that has called you from darkness into his marvelous light. If you don't know who you are the world, there is a be deviled, angry world out there waiting to transfer the aggression on their lives on you. Someone just looks at you and hates you for no reason the goodness of God, the faithfulness of God. You become a victim of their pain. They are wounded and they don't know how to get healed, and they find joy when others are equally wounded. You need a redefinition of your identity, because there are many times you will not have a chance to defend yourself. Your confidence will be in knowing who you are. If you know who you are, then God can take it a step further. A deliverer must know he's a deliverer, otherwise he cannot be used as a deliverer away together. Gideon was a deliverer, But for as long as Gideon was in hiding, he did not know the Angel appears to him and calls him by his name. He says, down, mighty man of fellow, And Gideon said, don't mock me if you call me a mighty man of fellow. Where are the miracles? God was so meticulous about identity. He changed people's names, Sarah to Sarah, Abrahm to Abraham, sees as to Peter. Are we together? You know one of the reasons why there was an instruction that everybody in Jericho should be killed because of Rahap's past. He did not want anybody to go knowing who she was, and everybody who knew her past died so that she would have a chance to live a new life. The woman you call rahab it provided there was one person who knew she was a prostitute on the wall one day, perhaps they would have told someone who wanted to marry her. You are making a mistake. There is a story about this woman that I know, and God said they will all have to die. Someone learning tonight, you noticed that the progression When you are tardy in greatness from the kingdom, a time comes in your life where if God wants to help you, he takes you away from those who know you and you will return back to them, but as a savior. Because there is something about those who know you. They will never believe you are evolving. You are molting. So they say you and interpret you by the yesterday version of you. Can anything good come out of Nazareth? That was Natania's verdict, And listen to me. Natania was not lying. Remember the last thing that came out of Nazareth, Samson, there's no longevity of impact. And he said, don't waste your time. This guy coming now, he won't last, so let's not live our fishing and follow him. That's why they were angry when Jesus died. Someone learning. So God will take you out and pueled you and raise you. Then you will send you back. There are many people around you who cannot let you grow. They are too used to you. Of all the places Jesus went to perform miracles, the places that he himself was disappointed was among the people that knew him. They said, is this not Josephson? The Bible said. They were offended. Other people were saying, hallelujah, this man is passing one last time. Nico Demos had to climb as Zakios had to climb a tree. And yet he came and someone looked at him as a young boy. You become big. Now. I hear you are Jesus. I hear you in no name in town. So sometimes when God wants to help you, he takes you away. He disguises it using a job, using school, using whatever. But it takes you to an environment that does not know your past to give you. He doesn't have to be a wrong past. There's just something that happens. People cannot grow in an atmosphere of familiarity. Allelujah prays the name of the Lord. So for instance, you can find someone who's carrying the healing anointing what his relatives, who asks for money rather than healing, whereas others are saying, please, I know that one touch from you and someone who's across you're here, can we get something. That's why the Bible says he that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet, you can receive a prophet in the name of a brother, you will receive a brother's reward. You can receive a prophet in the name of a member, You will receive a member's reward. It matters how you receive people. Are we learning? So Peter says, I know who you are. You are not the cap in Terson, No, a capin Tason cannot do this. Nicodemus came to Jesus by night in John chapter three and verse one and on watching Jesus from a distance, even though they acted in the day like they trivialized him. Are we together. The believer's identity must be derived entirely from the world of God. If for any reason you use any other parameter in defining yourself one, you will not be standing on the rock. Eventually it will fail. If you define yourself by your bank account, you define yourself by your certificate. All of these things will only go so far. The believer's identity is ultimately derived from the world. You believe that, yes, I'm working in power, I'm working in miracles, and live a life of favor. This is not a special number. Don't saying it if you don't believe what you just said. I mean a life question. Why do you live a life of favor because you come to church? No round answer. Jesus said, I am the vine. He says, he are the branches. A branch is defined as the fruit peering part of the vine. There is a level of settled confidence that can almost be mistaken for arrogance when you know who you are. Now in understanding purpose, there is a lot we can discuss, but there are two that are important for tonight. Number one, you have to understand what we call the Great Commission. And then number two, you have to understand what we call your unique assignment in that Great Commission. No believer can truly understand the subject of purpose until you understand the Great Commission. And I wish I had all night to do an exercisis on Great Commission, because there is already a theological flaw in the mainstream understanding of Great Commission. Something is grossly deficient in the subject of the Great Commission, as we have taught it. If you care with all due respect, let me refer you to my teaching redefining the Great Commission. You find there a balanced exegesis of the Great Commission. It captures three areas. There is a three scriptures in the Bible that make up the Great Commission. Mark sixteen fifteen or Mark fifteen sixteen and seventeen. Matthew twenty eight eighteen to twenty eight, chapter one and verse eight. So there is a commission to the world of unbelievers, there is a commission to the Church, and there is a commission to society. For the longest time, when we talk about the Great Commission, we mean well, but we limit it only to the evangelical dimension of the Great Commission. But the Great Commission has an assignment to the unbelieving world, an assignment to the Church, and an assignment to society. And you have to look at it broadly to capture the full scope. God has a program to unbelievers world evangelization. God has a program for the maturity of the church. It's called discipleship, where believers attenend stature through doctrine and sound exegesis of the world of God. And then there is a program for societal or territorial transformation. He calls us light, and he calls us salt. Are we together? And then, of course you must understand your unique assignment and instance. It's found in Jereman chapter one and verse nine. So God is conversing with the young boy Jeremiah, who would later become a mighty prophet, and it makes a very profound statement post with that scripture Jeremiah one and verse five, he says, one and five Jeremiah one and five, before I formed THEE in the belly, he says, I knew THEE, and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified THEE and ordained you to be a prophet onto the nations. So God has an end time program, But every single one of us, in our various capacities, we have roles that we play. I want to plead that you do not mistaken ambition with purpose. Ambition sometimes can align with purpose. What ambition is not purpose? Hallelujah. Ambition is a product of desire. Ambition is a product of many other factors. What purpose has to do with a divine assignment with your name on it? Prays the name of the Lord, hallelujah. Number four the fourth question that you must ask and you must answer. Ready for the fourth What can I do now? This speaks of your potentials, This speaks of your giftings, This speaks of your abilities. In fact, you cannot discuss the subject of purpose until you really understand potentials. I defined potentials for you earlier on inherent abilities, capable of being refined, capable of being developed for your profiting. Allelujah. In Second King chapter four, when you read from verse one to four a popular story, the one of the wife. Remember the wives of the prophets the prophet who transated, and the woman was in debt. So she comes. The Bible says a certain woman. So it was not a parable. When the Bible says a certain person, it means there was a real person. One of the wives of the sons of the prophet. She came to Elijah the prophet, and she said, you know my son was you know, my husband was one of your sons. But now they've come to take my children. And the prophet looked at her, and he says, woman, tell me, what do you have in your house? Pay attention. The woman said nothing except nothing except. I have the power to set you free from debt and to take away shame and reproach from your life. But I will assume the more you have defined. If you do not appreciate the gifts of God upon your life, film on one and verse six, here's what it said, that the communication of your faith might become effectual through the acknowledging of every good thing that is in you in Christ Jesus. The acknowledging of every good thing that is in you in Christ Jesus. There is something in your house that holds the power to take away shame from your life. Did you hear what I said? There is something in your house for every one of us here your potential. You must discover it, appreciate it, pare the price to develop it. And then deploy it. This is profound, This is profound. What do you have in your house? And the woman said, nothing except a little cruse of oil. And the prophet said, that's it. Go and borrow vessels. He says, borrow not a few. And when you borrow the vessel, shut your door, because developing it is not a public affair. Shut your door and begin to turn the oil. And the Bible says, for as long as they were vessels, the oil stopped flowing. It kept flowing. And she turned to her sons's their normal vessel? They said, there's none. And the Bible says, when there was no more vessel, the oil stayed or the oil stopped. It's amazing that most of the people we admire today, I'm telling you some of them do not have half the abilities God gave us. The only thing is that they paid the price to refine it, to refine it. Now, that's how your purpose connects your potentials. So the equippings that came with you are point as to what the assignment is. God does not waste. Remember he got out to a basket. God does not waste. Why did he give you prophetic grace and a good voice for worship and a lot of energy and graceful relationships? God, what are you spelling with all these gifts? It's your responsibility to stay perhaps eighteen and verse one through desire a man haven't separated himself secret and intermeddled with wisdom. There is a puzzle in your life that will not come as a gift. You must show God you are that interested, and then you go to the secret place and the remaining part of the revelation will come to you. Some of you right from children. You've seen leadership potentials. Everyone would seem to run. You seem to be a person of conviction for reasons you could not understand. That's leadership, that's Moses there. Let me tell you the truth. You know it is the Holy go'st training you because you must find a parallel of your training inscription. When God begins to train you, as you evolve, eventually you will see a formation of Esther, Moses, Elijah. If you cannot find a parallel of your training, it's a familiar spirit building you. Now you believe what I'm telling you. The names you call in the Bible are not just names of people. There are spiritual pathways that evolve a believer to a certain kind of person. So when you say Abraham, Abraham is not just the name of a man. Abraham is the name of a spiritual pathway that causes any man to become the father of nations. When God wants to make you a leader, a captain over his inheritance, he will train you in that way. So you can see the nature of your training and already know who you are becoming. When you see a young lady being trained and God is keeping you and that oil coming on you, most likely that is Esther in the making. Amans. There is something that is in your destiny connected to the palace, And if you never get to the palace, you can't sulfill your agenda. The one who's running away from God for a long time and he finally gets a hold of him, could you be kitty on every story in the Bible and every name that his name is a mirror, a mirror into a certain kind of believer. Jesus being the cheesest of them, are we together dress the name of the Lord potentials. So write down everything that constitutes an advantage in your life, everything everything, supernatural intelligence, as all through whiles in school, whether you read or not, it just comes. A well, God looks at him and his conversion with him through the burning bush, and he says, what do you have in your hand, and Moses says, a rod, a rod, just a rod. He says, take note of that rod. You will do signs and wonders with it. And by the time we get to I think verse nineteen, there about verse yeah, verse seventeen, tell that rod that you have, go with it, and with that rod you will do signs. So what you have in your house and what you have in your hands, these are the rods with which you do signs and manders. And then number five, Where am I going? This is the fifth question you must answer. Where am I going? This is a question of your destination after now, and please pay attention to this. First Corinthians, chapter fifteen and verse nineteen. First Corinthians fifteen and verse nineteen, the question where am I going? Where am I going? The Bible says, if in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable, miserable. Someone sent me something this morning and he said, life is interesting. The reason is because we hate the inconvenience that it provides with labor, to accumulate with labor, to build houses, to build empires, and nothing wrong with that. And so the thought that one day you would have to leave all these things and be put in a casket and buried in the ground and covered with dust, it's something that can torture the mind that most of us don't even want to think about it, and we just shrug it off and say, you know what, let me just think about today. But ladies and gentlemen, the sad reality, whether you like it or not, is that one day, whether you like it or not, if Christ carries there's what we call your lifetime, and it is from the day you are born until the day you transit your assignment is to use the time you have to make the most of your life. This is what I call fulfillment, serving the purposes of God and being a blessing to humanity because one day, here's what Jesus said, I must work the works of Him that sent me. Listen while it is day for the night comment where no man there is the night that comes when no man can walk again. As a man of God, I've been. I've been to a number of funerals in my life. I've had the honor of praying with families, usually as a man of God. When people transit, you are the first day reach for various reasons, and ministry works in a way like medicine. You have a similar experience with doctors. You watch the tears of people, you watch them build strength. And I have seen the brevity of life, the deceptive brevity of life. Listen to me. When you celebrate your birthday, don't just celebrate your age. You are also celebrating how many years left. So if you are leaving eighty and you celebrate forty, you didn't celebrate forty years covered. You are also celebrating forty years left. If you have seventy years and you are sixty. You didn't just celebrate sixty years, you are celebrating ten left. I wish there was a better way of saying it. This is the reality. Ladies and gentlemen. Let me tell you this. At the end of your life, your script will be marked by two people, one by God and number two by doors you leave behind. Did you hear what I said? At the end of your days, your script will be marked by two people. Unfortunately, you will not have the opportunity to be there when the script has been marked. The lives and the destinies you have changed will mark your script, or the lives who are destroyed by reason of your existence. There are people whose names will become a padlock to their children's children, But there are others whose names will become a gies. It will open doors even when they are gone. You mean you are the child of this In nineteen eighty one, your father helped me. I hear you are looking for a job. I don't care what you read, so your say, come. Let me encourage someone in the midst of all the seeking for job, wanting a child, married children, increase promotion, and all of these things, you must have it at the back of your mind that this fifth question can determine your eternal destiny. There are no CEOs beyond this rem there are no professors beyond this rem Ladies and gentlemen. I have seen many graves, I have seen many coughings. I have seen many dead bodies. I didn't find one who held the certificate going. I didn't find one who held the crown going. Even the ones who were buried with crowns. It became dust bones and a rousted crown. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts onto wisdom. I believe the Lord placed it in the heart of his servant, your pastor, to drum the issue of fulfilling purpose, because it's in his heart to see everyone who's under his care rise evolved as people who live effective lives. Let me tell you, these ladies and gentlemen in the economy of the kingdom. You do not leave because you are alive. You live because Jesus is alive in you. If you are alive, having your biological life. From a spiritual standpoint, you are still dead. So the Bible says, are wakened out that sleepest, and then he can also bring you from the dead. Even if you were dead. There are many people who are living. You are succeeding, You are successful. Financially speaking, you are accomplished. But this idea of Jesus, we have left it rosted in our lives and we look at it as doing Some olds who concept and it's only for those who have been beaten by life, who have suffered, and who do not want to be contemporary and society has soul lost in narrative that you have to choose contemporary living or choose Jesus. The Bible says God did not send his son John three seventeen to the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might live. In fact, the name Jesus. As the Angel was telling Mary, he said, he shall be called Jesus because he will save the world from their sins. Paul was speaking in Romance up to ten. From verse eight to ten, he says, the word is nigi in thy heart and in thy mouth, the world of faith. What we preach that if you will confess the lordship of Jesus, and that you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. He says, For with the heart man, any man believes onto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made on yourself. You begin to leave effectively, not just when you get a job, not just when you build a house, not just when you become a person of renown. That there you soft me to the lordship of Jesus, the Son of the Living God, not another one. You can soft me to church and not sub me to Jesus. You can soft me to religion and not sub me to Jesus. My proposition goes beyond church, beyond religion. Allow me for a minute to introduce to you the one who's changed my life, the one who's changed your pastor's life, the one who's changes the life of anyone who has true joy. There are many people who have a semblance of joy and peace. I can tell you there's emptiness within the heart of any man. Every man only the size of Jesus. Can feel it, and it says common to me only that are weary and heavy leading, and I will give you rest. Rest in attempting to live effective, in attempting to live purposeful lives, do not limit your scope to carrier pursuits. Do not limit your scope to just gliding businesses, conglomerates, empires. All of those things find their value from a relationship that is functional, that secures your life beyond now and after now. When you make it right with Jesus, then you can do business having this orientation that I leave to bring him glory, not just to make money. You can have this orientation. I sink to bring him glory. I preage to bring him glory. I do business to bring him glory. I'm an academician to bring him glory. Glorifying Jesus becomes the focal point, the epicenter of your life. This is the difference between purpose and ambition. Ambition leads to self glorification. Purpose leads to glorifying Jesus. That is a big difference. What you have in your house and your hand deshines the key to your relevance. You are not without help if you learn to reach to what is in your house, and reach to what is in your hands and surrendered before him. Moses's rod became the word of God when he surrendered it before the Lord. Your giftings and potentials and ability will only give God glory when they also join you in worshiping him. If you worship God and your talent remains standing, it will be like that I cannot worship God and my gift to not also bow like the woman with the labastad box. If I bow, my talent must bow.
