"Does God Have a Body?" Kathryn Kuhlman
Kathryn KuhlmanAbout this sermon
Kathryn Kuhlman uses scripture to answer the question "Does God Have a Body?" This show has helped me to become more like Jesus and I am sure it can do the same for you. The podcast never has any AI and rarely has music or commentary. I give a short introduction sometimes but Kathryn's talks are unchanged. Take care and God bless.

It all came about in one of our open forums when someone asked the question as to whether or not there was anything in the word of God that would substantiate the fact that God has a body. At first, this may seem almost startling to you because you have never really stopped to analyze your idea of God. God. What God is really like. To some, he is only spirit. To others, he is a code of ethics. To someone else, he is Mother Nature. Someone else, he's just a glorious imagination. Almost like a fairy tale. God is still God Almighty, the ruler of heaven and earth. the glorious creator of all things. And you and I were created in the image and likeness of Almighty God. I want to know when I come boldly before the throne of God to pray. I want to know to whom I am coming. I mean exactly that. Am I just coming into the presence of a spirit? Something that is not tangible? Something that is just imagination? Something that is just a mental attitude on my part? Let's go very deep into this study regarding the person of God Almighty. There's one who perhaps had a far better and greater revelation of Almighty God than any one of us. And that one was Moses. And I'd give anything in the world if right now I could... call Moses and say, Moses, I'm not an authority when it comes to seeing God because I have never seen him. I have never looked upon his person. I can give to these precious folk what the word of God says about. this one who is all -important. But you saw him. You spoke with him. You had a far greater revelation of God than anyone that we know anything about. Would you please come now and tell us exactly what you saw? Wouldn't it be wonderful if Moses could right now finish this little heart -to -heart talk? I can't bring Moses, but I can give you the word of God. Oh, that was wonderful up there on the mount. That was glorious. Let's begin with it in the 24th chapter of Exodus. And the Lord said unto Moses, come up to me into the mount, and be there. And I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments, which I have written, that thou mayest teach them. And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua. And Moses went up into the mount of God. And a cloud covered the mount. And the glory of the Lord abode upon Mount Sinai. And the cloud covered it six days. And the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel. And Moses went into the midst of the cloud. and got him up into the mount. And Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights. Now, let's go a little further into this marvelous revelation, this personal experience that Moses had with God. to the 33rd chapter of Exodus, the 18th verse. And he said, I beseech thee, show me thy glory. Oh, I love this. There's something so personal about it all. Let's admit something. There's been a time in your life, and I'm the very first to admit to you, that I've had times in my life when the night was so dark, when I felt so all alone. The sorrow was almost overwhelming. And I have looked up in the darkness and have prayed, just for a minute, Lord, just separate. The curtains just for a second. If I could but look upon your face. If I could just for a split second see your face. I could stand anything. I could go through anything. But you know, he never granted me that request. I have never looked upon his face. I have never seen him. I have never seen his hand. Oh, there have been times when the power of the Holy Spirit has come upon me in a service, when I could have sworn that I felt his hand upon my body. So real was his presence, I thought if I turned very quickly, I would have looked and could have seen his... presence, his person in bodily form. No. I have felt the strengthening power of his presence. But I have never seen him. But that day when Moses looked up and said, I beseech thee, show me thy glory. And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee. I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. And he said, Thou canst not see my face, for there shall no man see me and live. If God did not have a face, he would not have said, Thou canst not see my face. In other words, he's saying, I have a face. One day you shall behold my face, but not now. Your physical body isn't in the condition where it can look upon my face because the physical body is still mortal. it's still corruption thou canst not see my face for there shall no man see me and live but behold there is a place by me and thou shalt stand upon a rock and it shall come to pass while my glory passeth by that i will put thee in the cleft of the rock i will cover thee with my hand While I pass by, I will take away mine hand and thou shall see my back parts. But my face shall not be seen. We are talking now about God. God the Father. And I always like to think of him as... The big boss. When we pray, the word of God says that God is on his throne. The big boss. He is the giver of every good and perfect gift. He's the one who gives. That which we ask for in our prayer. The giver of everything that we receive. Seated at the right hand of God the Father is Jesus Christ the Son. Everything that you and I receive has been made possible and must come through his only begotten Son. Jesus Christ the Son is in position of great high priest, the one who intercedes for us. Here on earth is the third person of the Trinity. We are living in the dispensation of the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit. He is the resurrection power. The one that I am talking about now is God the Father. The big boss. When we come before his throne, we come in the name of Jesus before Jesus went away. The greatest bequest that was ever left to a human being was that which was left by Jesus to Christians. He told us we can use his name when we came before the throne of God. Now, I am talking about the person of God Almighty. And when I come before his throne, I want to know to whom I am coming. That's the reason it makes a difference to me whether I am... coming before the throne of one who is just spirit? Or whether he is something more than just the figment of my imagination? I want to know, does my Heavenly Father have a physical body? There's one who can give that answer. the one who saw him, the one who looked upon that body. And he is altogether reliable. Dare there be one who would insult Moses? Dare there be a man living? Who would not take the testimony of Moses? That one that God trusted? That marvelous man of God? The one that God gave the responsibility to as the leader of the children of Israel? He must have been mighty responsible. He must have been a man of great integrity. God would never have chosen him if he could not have trusted him. Therefore, surely you and I can trust him. I have confidence in Moses. That's the reason I believe his word of testimony. I believe God's word. Let me pause just a minute. When someone tells you that they have seen the face of God, They tell an untruth. They lie. For God himself, when Moses sought to see the face of God, to look upon his face, God said, I cannot permit you to see my face. I will show you a part of my body, but my face you cannot see. No man can see my face and live. Our poor little puny minds cannot begin to fathom the glory, the majesty. The beauty, the power, the splendor of the face of Almighty God, such a thing we can't begin to comprehend. My goodness of life, Moses, after just having seen a part of the body of God, coming down from the mount he himself was so covered with glory with such splendor such light that those with whom he came in contact with couldn't look upon him don't you realize that our poor little bodies this which is still corruption Our physical bodies in the state that these bodies are now in are not geared for all of that glory. These bodies of ours are still mortal. They're still corruption. We cannot look upon the face of God. We cannot stand all that splendor, all that glory, all that power. in the state that our physical bodies are in this hour. There's coming a day. Believe me, beloved, just as surely as there's a God on his throne, there's coming a day when all men will look upon the person of almighty God, the saved and the unsaved. For the Bible clearly teaches that all bodies will be resurrected. The righteous unto the resurrection of the righteous. The wicked unto the resurrection of the wicked, the unsaved. All men, all human beings, will one day look upon his body. But no man can look upon the face of Almighty God until after the body has been resurrected. Oh, that's something, believe me. When you and I realize the power, the greatness, the majesty, the splendor, the absolute perfection of the person of Almighty God. And he said to Moses, All right, Moses, I will grant a part of your request. Thou canst not see my face, for there shall no man see me. and live but he goes a little further the lord said behold there is a place by me and thou shalt stand upon a rock and it shall come to pass while my glory passeth by that i will put thee in a cleft of the rock and i will cover thee with my hand While I pass by, oh, just visualize this. I wish I had been there. I wish Moses could speak right now. I'd be so glad to keep quiet and let him do the speaking. fully that which he experienced that day as he stood there in the cleft of the rock when suddenly he felt literally the hand of god covering his own face because god told him i will cover thee with my hand while i pass by And I will take away my hand, and thou shalt see my back parts. But my face shall not be seen. And God was talking about his body. And thou shalt see my back. But my face shall not be seen. Oh, what an experience. Beloved, I want you to see something. God himself spoke of his face. My face thou canst not see. He spoke of his hand. I will take my hand and cover your face. Turn to the preceding chapter, the 32nd chapter of Exodus, the 15th, 16th verses. And Moses turned, went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand. the tables were written on both their sides on the one side and on the other were they written watch and the tables were the work of god and the writing was the writing of God. Graven up on the tables. God himself did the writing. Let me give you an experience that someone else had regarding the hand of God. There's one. If we could bring Belshazzar, the king. And say, Belshazzar, that night, when you saw the writing on the wall, whose fingers did you see? Whose... hand did you see that night? Me thinks without hesitation. Belshazzar would stand before the whole world and say, I know now whose hand it was that I saw. I knew the very instant I saw those fingers. I knew it was the hand of God. That was the reason my knees smote one against another. Let me read it. The fifth chapter of Daniel, the fifth verse. In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand and wrote over against a candlestick. upon the plaster of the wall of the king's palace and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote then the king's countenance was changed and his thoughts troubled him so that the joints of his loins were loosed and his knees smote one against another. What caused that great fear to come upon him? Why was it that even the wisest that lived that day were unable to read that which was written on the wall? Why did this great failure come upon Belshazzar until literally his knees smote one against another? The joints of his loins were loosed. Why? He knew without ever having seen before. He knew. The fingers of the hand that wrote upon the wall of his palace was the hand of God. I want you to see something. And this is so thrilling. We have the record. that God has spoken audibly. Turn, if you will, please, to the person the Word of God is found in the third chapter of Matthew. It was at the time when Jesus came up from out of the waters of baptism. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up... great way out of the water and lo the heavens were opened unto him and he saw the spirit of god descending like a dove and lighting upon him and lo a voice from heaven saying this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Only one could look upon Jesus and say, This is my beloved Son. Just one. All three persons were present. the holy spirit descending like a dove and lighting upon him but the voice that spoke from heaven was the voice of god almighty
