It is a call to embrace a DEEPER FAITH that involves facing the questions and doubts that come in our lives through the lens of God's love and character in the Word. Matthew 11:1-6 ---IF YOU ARE DEALING WITH DOUBT about God, the Bible, JESUS, Christianity- remember: 1- YOU ARE NOT ALONE 2- THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY to BUILD your FAITH 3- GOD is NOT MAD AT YOU, NOR DOES HE REJECT YOU--and WE won't either. ---DECONSTRUCTION--- a systematic pulling apart of the belief system you were raised in. This typically happens when one has questions/doubts about their faith that go unanswered. Eventually those issues force themselves to the surface and must be dealt with, sometimes brought on by an event in your life that the faith of your childhood didn’t prepare you for ----death, loss, difficult season. 3 BARRIERS to faith: 1—INTELLECTUAL // 2—PERSONAL // 3---SOCIAL ---Matthew 7:24-29—the rock of Christ is firm through all storms… ***MANY OF US NEED RECONSTRUCTION NOT DECONSTRUCTION. IF you are FACING DOUBTS---TRY WALKING THIS OUT: 1---REMEMBER THAT FAITH BEGINS WHERE UNDERSTANDING ENDS… ---This was the problem for King Solomon in the Bible---for so many millennials and generation x’ers --- there’s this pursuit to GET EVERY QUESTION ANSWERED---but REAL WISDOM is not having an answer to every question--- wisdom is the maturity to leave many questions unanswered and live with the tension of faith and trust in a GOD that is BIGGER than you… 2---REMEMBER THAT RELATIONSHIP IS GREATER THAN REASONING---EMBRACE a real relationship with JESUS-- BUILD ON THE FIRM FOUNDATION----JESUS---keep the main thing the main thing… Don’t major on the minors----a real relationship with God is found in honest prayer, meditation, and writing down those questions to God… 3---PRAY FOR FAITH more than PROOF------We hunger for certainty about the existence of God and the resurrection of Jesus. We want proof. But faith and proof are mutually exclusive. Faith is the conviction that what you cannot see is real. The writer of Hebrews teaches us that “without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” --Heb. 11:6. So don’t get hung up on needing objectively verifiable evidence of what we believe. Simply ask God to increase your faith. 4---WRESTLE IT OUT IN A HEALTHY COMMUNITY----Athletes need trainers, students rely on mentors, even the President has advisors. If you want to confirm your faith and grow in it, stay close to people who believe. Lots of folk will be willing to fan your doubts into unbelief if that’s what you want. But if you want to believe, seek out believers. 5--SURRENDER IS GREATER THAN CERTAINTY--- it's better to live in a surrendered posture than a know it all attitude... Eccl 12:13. MSG.
