About this sermon

This is Dr. David du Plessis broadcast by the Kathryn Kuhlman Foundation on October 10 1977. immie McDonald sings Alleluia and does an introduction. This show has helped me to become more like Jesus and I am sure it can do the same for you. The podcast never has any AI and rarely has music or commentary. I give a short introduction sometimes but Kathryn's talks are unchanged. Take care and God bless.

One of God's choice servants, Dr. David DuPlessis, known around the world as Mr. Pentecost, was a recent guest of the Catherine Kuhlman Foundation. The message he brought to those in our service was excellent. And for the next couple of days, we'll repeat portions of his talk for you, our radio listeners. If you are present to hear him, you'll understand why we feel so impressed to put this message on the radio. And you may even wish to invite others in your neighborhood or in your own family to tune in for this very special series of talks. You know, we've got so many beautiful things happening tonight. Dr. David DuPlessis is here, and he's waiting back there, and we're going to bring him out in just a moment. You know, I learned a beautiful thing in the Catherine Coleman ministry. I learned the secret, the art of just waiting on God the Holy Spirit. You know, you can get so busy you can rush and miss the beautiful things that the Lord wants to do for you. Let's just pause for a moment and recognize his presence. Don't think about me. Don't think about the choir. But just worship him. His presence. Just silently. God we praise you. We give thanks to you right now. Thank you for being here. Thank you in advance for what you're going to do. What you've already begun to do. Thank you that we can praise you. I want you to welcome one of God's choice saints. This man, I met him many, many years ago out in Denver, Colorado. He's had a tremendous impact on my life because I watched a man short of stature but big with the Holy Spirit. do a tremendous work as God the Holy Spirit led him. And I promise you that your life is going to be different. And I'm going to ask Dr. Du Plessis to come out and let us welcome him right now. Dr. Dick. In these days, You've got to put this thing on. And some preachers think the louder the PA system, the bigger is the anointing. I don't put it on because I think there ought to be a lot of noise. But it's easy for me to speak when I don't have to raise my voice. And then besides that... I believe there is usually the matter is taped, and if there's one thing that I dislike, it's a bad tape. And if they make a bad tape, they spoil my reputation. They think I'm bad too. And so tonight I trust I can speak clearly, and that both you here and others who may listen to any tape that is made could understand. Now. When I came to this country in 1937 for my first visit, not far from here in Pennsylvania, a pastor asked me, what is your favorite message? What do you preach? I said, I preach Jesus Christ. He's the way, the truth, and the life. and that's all that people need. I do not preach something else. I said, now why do you ask me such a funny question? Have you got preachers that preach other kinds of things? 1937, he said, well, the next time a preacher comes to my church and preaches on Stalin, Hitler, and Mussolini, I'll throw him out. Because in those days, they had a chart. It was a chart that took you from the Garden of Eden to the New Jerusalem. And they'd spin that across and then tell you prophetic stories. We are here, and we are here. And they'd come to the image of Daniel, and they'd say, we are here. And they'd say, there you have the trio. You have Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, and Pope Pius XII. And then they would say, the Lord is coming because these are the great Antichrist and the Howlett Church and all kinds of things. Funny how people were scared. Why did we tell such stories? I came back in 1947 for a second visit to this country. And I still had no other message for Jesus Christ. For he's the same yesterday, today, and forever. And he hadn't come yet in the sense that he would appear on the clouds of heaven. I met a lady who said to me, I am the widow of... such and such an evangelist. And I said, but I remember that name. Wasn't he a great prophetic student? Yes. I said, didn't I stay in your home on the bank of the Mississippi? Oh, she says, you remember that? I said, very well. Now, I said, tell me, did he continue to preach from that chart? No, she said. During the war one day, or at the end of the war, he came up with a roll under his arm. And he said to me, this is the chart I've been lecturing from. I've got it wrapped up. I'm putting it down in the basement if anybody should inquire about it. She says, aren't you going to use it anymore? He said, no, it is completely wrong and out of date now. Can't use it anymore. She says, why not? He says, every time I find a decent antichrist, somebody shoots him. Why are people anxious to see what Antichrist will do and where Antichrist is? And why are people looking at prophecy and see that there is to come a time of judgment and then wants to scare us about judgment? when there is such marvelous, wonderful promises in the Bible of what God will do and how the Lord will bless. I am here tonight to tell you that I have never had to apologize for preaching that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. And he's here tonight. I hope you believe that. He's here. Where? Everywhere. You will be no nearer to Jesus when you get to heaven than you are now. He's right here. Perhaps children can tell us better sometimes the truth. One little boy was told, an atheist said to him, Sonny, if you can... prove that God exists I'll give you 25 cents he smiled he said sir if you can prove that he doesn't exist I'll give you a dollar another little boy walking down the street was watching the displays in the windows he did some window shopping he didn't have any money to buy things so just look at them and he came to the shop where there was a sign in the window. The shopkeeper, jeweler, was an atheist. And in his window up there, he had a little sign, God is nowhere. And he stood looking, and he saw the little boy interested, and he would look at that sign and shake his head, smile. And he thought, that boy is interested. So he came out, he said, Sonny. Are you interested in that sign? Yes, sir, he said. I see that. He says, can you read? Oh, yes, sir, I can read. He said, what does that sign say? He says, sir, that sign says God is now here. No, no, no, no, no. He says, it says God is nowhere. No, he says, that's not the truth. The truth is God is now here. And the man argued, but he kept smiling and said, if you don't know it, sir, you'll find out. And when the boy walked along, the man went back in his store, and all the time the voice rang in his ears, God is now here. God is now here. He went into the storeroom in the back. And the voice keeps ringing in his ear, God is now here. And he looked around and he got out of there. He went to the till and counted his cash and thought that will take it out of his mind. But it didn't. Finally, he almost in despair said, Oh God, if you are here, then please do something. And he did. And that man took the sign off and knew. that God is now here. Not because I'm here, not because of our achievement, but because he loves us. He is here. Another little story. Back in Indonesia, three young people and an older Christian, a little team they called them, went down the street, house to house, to pray for the sick. They had taken a census of the sick. They came to a house and knocked at the door. The folks opened. They said, we have a record that Mr. So -and -so in this house is very ill. They said, yes, he is in fact a death's door. We have come to heal him. And they looked at them and said, you are doctors? No, they said, no doctors. How do you heal? Well, we simply touch him gently and ask Jesus to heal him. Oh, you are Christians. Yes. But we are Mohammedans. That doesn't matter. Jesus just loves Mohammedans. Doesn't he? Can you tell me anybody that Jesus doesn't love? I don't know anybody he doesn't love. We may not, but he does. And so they said to them, we will prove to you that Jesus loves Mohammedans because he's going to heal the sick man. They went into the room and the family got around and they talked to Jesus. And touched the man. And one of the young fellows took courage and he said, Come on, brother. Rise up. Jesus healed you. And the man said, Yes, something wonderful happened. I'm well. He got up. And they said, Is Jesus here now? Yes. You see what he did. You heard us talk to him. Can we talk to him? Yes. If we ask him to change us, will he change us too? And make us good like you? Oh, he will. And all the family, one by one, asked Jesus to change them. When that little party left that house, what do you think they left behind in that house? Mohammedans or Christians? How do you think? Christians. But they didn't even know John 3 .16. By that I want to say tonight, I don't want you to think that I'm here merely to preach the teachings of Christ or for you to accept the word without the knowledge that the Lord Jesus himself is here in this meeting tonight. He is there where you are sitting. You don't need to leave your seat at all to come here or to go somewhere. Right where you are tonight, Jesus Christ is there to meet you. Oh, says someone, but I am not really a child of God. Then I want to warn you that he's more interested in you than in anybody else. For he said he would leave the 99 righteous and let them go on with their prayer meeting while he goes after the one lost one. And if there is a lost person in this meeting tonight, I assure you Jesus Christ is right there, ready to meet you, ready to save you, ready to heal you. I'm in an auditorium tonight where, when I lived in Somerset, Pennsylvania here, I had an opportunity to come here to hear Catherine Kuhlman. And I knew she was in this place. At that time, I was here in Somerset, and I was laid up. I was in a cast because I'd been in an automobile accident. and badly broken up. So I couldn't travel and come to meetings like this. It was at that time that the Lord spoke to me. My family had just arrived, and they came to the States from Switzerland because I had been incapacitated by the accident, and the doctor said I would not travel again for several years. And then the Lord spoke to me in those days and said, He will do things, new things that had never been done before. He will do things that I had been warned of by an English evangelist who was a prophet in 1936. This is 12 years later. And then I learned of Catherine Kuhlman's ministry. What I liked about it was that she did not tell people to come to her and have a healing line where she lays hands on. But she told them Jesus is the healer and he will do it. And people got healed in the audience. I like that. I thought that's the kind of ministry that I believe. God wants us to have, where Christ is glorified, where we don't claim to have any gifts, where we don't claim anything, purely messengers of the Lord. Later years, especially in her last years, I had the privilege to minister in the same meetings where she was and to watch her. And my own family got blessed in a meeting where my wife and our youngest son was, and she was speaking. He said, I can't wait any longer. He was in the service in uniform. And his mother and he walked to the door, and mother said, just a moment. Catherine is now beginning to deal with the sick. And Catherine said, over there at the door, there is someone in that direction that has an arthritic ankle. The Lord has touched you. And my wife had a weak ankle from her childhood days on account of infantile paralysis. And she felt, and it's gone. The pain was gone. And it's gone to this day. It never came back again. My daughter was in Jerusalem, and she sat way up on the fifth balcony, suffering terribly. Pain in her legs. Tourists walk a lot, and they get swell legs. And there she was, and she'd suffer. All of a sudden, up there, She felt the pain disappear. And when she looked, it seemed the swelling was gone. And so she came down to the platform. And thank God that girl today is a living witness. And some think she could be like Catherine Kuhlman for the way the Lord blesses her. So I know many of you have listened. Many of you may be here because the Lord healed you. That's all very wonderful. Tonight, if there are any sufferers here, don't think that because the Lord took Catherine home, he took his spirit away. She's gone, but the spirit that blessed her is still here. Jesus is here.
