Please do 0:00:19.880 --> 0:00:23.200 not touch them. They might not be comfortable with that, 0:00:23.760 --> 0:00:25.840 but just look at them and say, I am so 0:00:26.040 --> 0:00:29.440 looking forward to experiencing God's word with you today. Would 0:00:29.480 --> 0:00:31.600 you do that right where you are and say it 0:00:31.640 --> 0:00:33.720 even in the chat, say I've been looking forward to 0:00:33.760 --> 0:00:37.239 this all week. I'm looking forward to being strengthened by 0:00:37.240 --> 0:00:40.400 the word of God. We've worshiped him, We've turned our 0:00:40.440 --> 0:00:44.960 hearts to help. Now let's set aside every distraction. Don't 0:00:45.000 --> 0:00:49.080 be like Martha busy in the kitchen. Take these next 0:00:49.080 --> 0:00:52.200 few minutes and just get in position to hear from 0:00:52.200 --> 0:00:54.760 the Lord. And I promise you He's going to speak 0:00:54.760 --> 0:00:57.960 to you today all over the world. Let me know 0:00:58.040 --> 0:00:59.959 right now in the comments or the chat where you're 0:01:00.080 --> 0:01:02.440 watching from. I don't like to call it watching where 0:01:02.440 --> 0:01:05.640 you're worshiping from. Hey, man, watching is something you do 0:01:05.760 --> 0:01:10.919 for like Yellowstone or the Game of Thrones or something 0:01:10.959 --> 0:01:12.959 like that. But this ain't the game. This is the 0:01:13.040 --> 0:01:18.080 real throne, all right. So we came to worship. Y'all 0:01:18.080 --> 0:01:19.920 shouldn't have given me a few weeks off. I'm in 0:01:20.000 --> 0:01:25.480 bad shape today. Pray for me, e fham. Now the 0:01:25.520 --> 0:01:27.360 scripture for today that I want to read to you 0:01:27.480 --> 0:01:30.600 is from Numbers, chapter eleven. You'll quit being funky and 0:01:30.640 --> 0:01:35.360 pad me with something spiritual, some church chords. All right, 0:01:35.959 --> 0:01:44.480 praise the Lord Numbers, chapter eleven, verse four through six. 0:01:45.240 --> 0:01:50.440 You ready? Are you ready? Readier than you just sounded? 0:01:50.920 --> 0:01:52.680 I hope y'all are readier in your room than they 0:01:52.680 --> 0:01:56.840 are in this room, all right, Lake Norman? Yes, okay. 0:01:57.920 --> 0:02:01.639 The rabble with them begin to crave other food, and 0:02:01.720 --> 0:02:07.200 again the Israelites started wailing and said, if only we 0:02:07.320 --> 0:02:14.200 had meat to eat, We remember the fish we ate 0:02:14.360 --> 0:02:22.440 in Egypt at no cost, Also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, 0:02:23.000 --> 0:02:29.760 and garlic. But now we have lost our appetite. We 0:02:29.880 --> 0:02:37.760 never see anything but this manner. If only we had 0:02:37.919 --> 0:02:43.320 meat to eat, We remember the fish we ate in 0:02:43.440 --> 0:02:47.480 Egypt at no cost. I thought i'd talked to you 0:02:47.520 --> 0:02:50.360 today on the first sermon that I preached from the 0:02:50.400 --> 0:02:57.600 New Year about comfort food. Comfort food, Lord feed us 0:02:57.600 --> 0:02:59.960 the bread of Heaven today because we need it in Jesus. 0:03:00.160 --> 0:03:05.000 Say amen. You may be seated right now. I want 0:03:05.040 --> 0:03:07.520 you to say in the chat, or maybe look at 0:03:07.520 --> 0:03:10.000 somebody if you're in a room with more than one person, 0:03:10.639 --> 0:03:14.240 and tell them your favorite comfort food. Put it in 0:03:14.280 --> 0:03:17.320 the chat right now. Or if you're sitting next to somebody, 0:03:17.600 --> 0:03:19.679 what's the food that makes you feel better? Well, it 0:03:19.720 --> 0:03:22.480 makes you feel temporarily better, because that's the definition of 0:03:22.520 --> 0:03:25.480 comfort food, right, the food that will make you feel 0:03:25.480 --> 0:03:31.280 better for five minutes. Right? Your favorite Our research this 0:03:31.360 --> 0:03:36.440 week the Bible and I researched on Google and the 0:03:36.480 --> 0:03:40.680 favorite comfort food is still pizza for fifteen percent of Americans. 0:03:42.160 --> 0:03:43.760 So I don't know other parts. So we'll put it 0:03:43.760 --> 0:03:47.480 into chat. And do not take this moment to show 0:03:47.520 --> 0:03:54.920 off how healthy you are. You know, but kombucha is 0:03:54.960 --> 0:03:57.560 my comfort food. Shut up, go away, let is go 0:03:57.600 --> 0:04:01.320 to another church. All right, I'm talking about I'm talking 0:04:01.360 --> 0:04:05.280 about something it's not good for you, but it tastes 0:04:05.320 --> 0:04:10.680 good to you. Put it in the chat. I'm not 0:04:10.720 --> 0:04:14.280 going to tell you mine yet I'll tell you, Hollies, 0:04:15.760 --> 0:04:18.080 if you ever want to make her feel better, French 0:04:18.160 --> 0:04:20.880 rice and her French rice, and I thank God for 0:04:20.920 --> 0:04:25.040 that because they're cheap and they're predictable. It's a lot 0:04:25.160 --> 0:04:28.720 cheaper than jewelry. Right, So if I see her down 0:04:29.000 --> 0:04:31.200 and it's not just food, I hope you're putting these 0:04:31.200 --> 0:04:33.000 in the chat, by the way, because I'm really interested 0:04:33.040 --> 0:04:35.800 to see how many of you will be honest about it. 0:04:36.160 --> 0:04:38.920 And I know this is really bad because you've got 0:04:38.960 --> 0:04:40.600 all these goals for the new year that you're not 0:04:40.640 --> 0:04:42.279 going to eat it anymore. Here I am bringing it up. 0:04:42.279 --> 0:04:44.320 And you turned on the church to try to get 0:04:44.360 --> 0:04:46.880 away from this stuff, and here I am talking about it. 0:04:47.279 --> 0:04:49.760 But I think we should talk about it. I think 0:04:49.800 --> 0:04:53.160 we should talk about comfort food today. And I think 0:04:53.160 --> 0:04:55.200 we should talk about it beyond just physical food. But 0:04:55.240 --> 0:04:57.960 I want to use physical food to get there, because 0:04:57.960 --> 0:05:01.240 there's something that we can feel, you know, something we 0:05:01.279 --> 0:05:06.160 could we could feel when we went to Singapore a 0:05:06.200 --> 0:05:11.599 couple of years ago. Holly's laughing because we kind of 0:05:11.640 --> 0:05:15.159 had a fight. We had a disagreement our host. I 0:05:15.200 --> 0:05:18.440 was there to preach and our hosts were so amazing 0:05:18.680 --> 0:05:21.120 the church that we were at, and they took us 0:05:21.160 --> 0:05:23.360 to really nice restaurants. I thought they were all really 0:05:23.440 --> 0:05:26.560 nice restaurants because they were all restaurants that I knew 0:05:26.600 --> 0:05:30.400 the name of, and I liked it that way. Holly, 0:05:30.640 --> 0:05:34.080 on the other hand, was so disappointed that they were 0:05:34.120 --> 0:05:37.840 taking us to the same restaurants. Do you remember they 0:05:37.839 --> 0:05:39.680 took us. I remember one night they took us to 0:05:39.760 --> 0:05:44.000 Ruth Chris, which is like my favorite. That's that's like 0:05:44.200 --> 0:05:46.839 one of the first nice dates. I saved up eighteen 0:05:46.880 --> 0:05:49.239 months and took Holly to Ruth christ And I'm serious 0:05:49.800 --> 0:05:54.040 when we went to came to Charlotte, and and and 0:05:54.160 --> 0:05:56.280 so I was happy to be at Ruth Chris. And 0:05:56.320 --> 0:06:00.479 she's kind of disappointed. And she told me afterwards, she said, 0:06:01.200 --> 0:06:05.080 I could have ate all that in Charlotte. Come and 0:06:05.600 --> 0:06:07.720 apparently she had just read a book. I don't remember 0:06:07.760 --> 0:06:11.320 the name of the book. She read a book Crazy 0:06:11.400 --> 0:06:14.000 Rich Asians, where they put a bunch of stuff about 0:06:15.000 --> 0:06:18.479 food markets and stuff. So she's reading this book right 0:06:18.800 --> 0:06:21.560 and we're going to Singapore and she's thinking about all 0:06:21.600 --> 0:06:24.560 this new food she's gonna try when we get there. 0:06:24.880 --> 0:06:27.680 And then they take us to TGI Fridays in the mall, 0:06:27.760 --> 0:06:32.320 and I was happy. I like TGI Fridays. There's nothing 0:06:32.360 --> 0:06:36.440 wrong with TGI Fridays anywhere in the world. Any day. 0:06:36.480 --> 0:06:39.200 It doesn't have to be Friday. I'm making a Friday 0:06:39.240 --> 0:06:42.600 on Thursday. I eat chicken tenders any day of the week. 0:06:42.880 --> 0:06:46.320 Makes me feel good. It makes me feel something familiar 0:06:46.560 --> 0:07:04.040 in my soul. I like it. I like chains, chain restaurant. Chain. Oh, 0:07:04.800 --> 0:07:11.920 I like chains. That's what they call it, a chain restaurant. 0:07:13.200 --> 0:07:19.720 It's the same anywhere you go. I like them. It's 0:07:19.800 --> 0:07:23.440 comfortable to me. Don't even have to look at the menu. 0:07:24.840 --> 0:07:27.520 Don't have to acquire a taste. Who has time for that, 0:07:28.480 --> 0:07:35.760 especially in an unfamiliar place. If the place is unfamiliar, 0:07:36.360 --> 0:07:42.880 at least give me a taste. I can recognize numbers. 0:07:42.960 --> 0:07:48.960 Chapter eleven. The Israelites are in a strange place. They 0:07:49.080 --> 0:07:53.880 left a strange place that they came to to escape 0:07:53.920 --> 0:07:58.320 of famine that they did not cause. But it's been 0:07:58.360 --> 0:08:01.440 four hundred and thirty years since they first entered Egypt. 0:08:02.520 --> 0:08:04.760 How many know that four hundred and thirty years is 0:08:04.920 --> 0:08:10.840 enough time to adjust your taste? Butts, they were not 0:08:11.040 --> 0:08:13.800 slaves for four hundred and thirty years. They were only 0:08:13.880 --> 0:08:17.880 slaves for four hundred. The reason I point that out 0:08:17.960 --> 0:08:22.000 is for the first thirty Egypt was the place that 0:08:22.080 --> 0:08:26.760 fed them what they needed to survive. Can I show 0:08:26.760 --> 0:08:30.720 you this? I would love to show you this in Genesis. 0:08:31.040 --> 0:08:34.000 I have so many scriptures today we might just chop 0:08:34.040 --> 0:08:37.360 this up and show it for the next for the 0:08:37.400 --> 0:08:42.640 rest of the year. But in Genesis forty one, and 0:08:42.679 --> 0:08:44.840 I've been waiting to share this with you for a 0:08:44.840 --> 0:08:48.040 while now, so just forgive my excitement about it. But 0:08:48.200 --> 0:08:51.240 it talks about how the people of God got to Egypt, 0:08:51.640 --> 0:08:55.439 where God took care of them. And I've mentioned before 0:08:55.520 --> 0:08:59.280 from this pulpit how the place that you escape to 0:08:59.440 --> 0:09:03.000 in one sea can become the place that you are 0:09:03.120 --> 0:09:08.240 enslaved by in the next, you know, And this really 0:09:08.679 --> 0:09:11.320 really shows this in a way that I think you 0:09:11.360 --> 0:09:15.360 can get it. In Genesis forty one, verse fifty three, 0:09:15.600 --> 0:09:17.680 I can't give you the whole story, but let me 0:09:17.800 --> 0:09:20.200 just try to give you a little taste of it. 0:09:20.200 --> 0:09:22.960 It says the seven years of abundance in Egypt came 0:09:23.000 --> 0:09:25.480 to an end and the seven years of famine. Everybody 0:09:25.520 --> 0:09:29.239 say famine. Put it in the chat, say famine, famine, 0:09:29.400 --> 0:09:33.840 the seven years of Famine began, just as Joseph had said. 0:09:34.640 --> 0:09:37.200 There was famine in all the other lands, but in 0:09:37.240 --> 0:09:44.400 the whole land of Egypt there was food. They came 0:09:44.440 --> 0:09:47.440 to Egypt, not out of rebellion, but out of survival. 0:09:49.200 --> 0:09:51.079 They came to Egypt. And one day I'm going to 0:09:51.120 --> 0:09:53.160 preach this message. I've been promising it for a while. 0:09:53.160 --> 0:09:58.199 I'm going to talk about sins with benefits. You've heard 0:09:58.240 --> 0:10:00.000 the other phrase, but that's not the one that I meet. 0:10:00.000 --> 0:10:02.840 And I'm talking about things that you do that meet 0:10:03.000 --> 0:10:07.600 a certain need in your life, but the way that 0:10:07.640 --> 0:10:11.640 they meet the need creates a greater need, throwing you 0:10:11.679 --> 0:10:16.640 into a spiral sometimes of what ends up feeling like slavery. 0:10:17.840 --> 0:10:20.360 So listen to this phrase. This got my attention. It 0:10:20.440 --> 0:10:23.760 said in verse fifty five, when all Egypt began to 0:10:24.040 --> 0:10:27.960 feel the famine. That's the phrase that I want you 0:10:28.000 --> 0:10:30.360 to underline there, Okay, or write it down or put 0:10:30.360 --> 0:10:34.000 it in the chat. Feel the famine. I believe I'm 0:10:34.040 --> 0:10:39.080 preaching to somebody today who feels the famine. It could 0:10:39.120 --> 0:10:42.880 be a famine of encouragement in your life, like nobody 0:10:42.920 --> 0:10:45.560 has told you you're doing a good job in a while, 0:10:45.880 --> 0:10:48.120 and nobody has told you in a while that you matter, 0:10:48.520 --> 0:10:50.320 or if they are telling you, you you don't really believe 0:10:50.360 --> 0:10:52.000 their motives because they're just trying to use it. They 0:10:52.040 --> 0:10:53.600 get you to do something to manipulate you to do 0:10:53.640 --> 0:10:55.200 something they want you to do. So now you're so 0:10:55.320 --> 0:10:57.280 jaded that you can't even receive the nutrition of other 0:10:57.320 --> 0:11:00.560 people's encouragement because you experienced it in a manipulat format. 0:11:00.760 --> 0:11:03.360 And so now you're really reluctant to receive anything anyone 0:11:03.440 --> 0:11:06.080 says to you that's positive because you are more trained 0:11:06.120 --> 0:11:12.640 in your taste buds to something that is negative. But 0:11:12.720 --> 0:11:16.520 you feel the famine, and watch this. The Bible says, 0:11:16.640 --> 0:11:20.240 when all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people 0:11:20.480 --> 0:11:27.400 cried to Pharaoh for food. So right beside famine put Pharaoh. 0:11:27.840 --> 0:11:31.560 Pharaoh was, of course the ruler of Egypt. Right he 0:11:31.640 --> 0:11:34.040 ended up putting Joseph in charge of the food supply. 0:11:35.280 --> 0:11:37.240 And if you don't know all this backstory, you'll still 0:11:37.280 --> 0:11:38.960 get the message. Okay, it's all right, And plus i'll 0:11:38.960 --> 0:11:41.080 give you something to study this week, so you can 0:11:41.120 --> 0:11:45.000 look all this up this week and realize that there 0:11:45.080 --> 0:11:49.240 was a famine that brought the people of God. Joseph, 0:11:49.240 --> 0:11:53.800 who was an Israelite, it brought his whole family to Egypt. Now, now, 0:11:53.880 --> 0:11:58.640 God will use famine in your life to get you 0:11:58.760 --> 0:12:04.080 into a place or position of his purpose, over and 0:12:04.120 --> 0:12:07.280 over again in the scripture. So when we say we 0:12:07.320 --> 0:12:09.480 want God to move in our lives, how many would 0:12:09.520 --> 0:12:11.160 say that I want God to move in my life 0:12:11.160 --> 0:12:13.840 in twenty twenty one? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. 0:12:14.040 --> 0:12:18.360 So for God to move in your life, he will 0:12:18.520 --> 0:12:25.199 often remove something from your life. So when you pray that, 0:12:25.280 --> 0:12:27.160 you have to think of those at the same time, 0:12:28.480 --> 0:12:31.080 move and remove. If God's gonna move, if he's gonna 0:12:31.120 --> 0:12:33.920 do something, if he's going to change things. And we 0:12:33.960 --> 0:12:37.040 say we want change, and we shout about change and 0:12:37.040 --> 0:12:39.559 we pray about change. What we really want is we 0:12:39.600 --> 0:12:43.080 want change that we choose and that we can control. 0:12:44.880 --> 0:12:47.400 Talk to me, Church of the Living God, come on, 0:12:47.480 --> 0:12:49.160 get Pentecostal for a minute and talk to me. Talk 0:12:49.160 --> 0:12:50.880 to me and talk to me. Talk to me. That's 0:12:50.920 --> 0:12:53.800 all I mean. And we say we want change. So 0:12:53.840 --> 0:12:56.640 when they felt the famine, they came to Egypt, and 0:12:56.720 --> 0:13:00.079 of course Verse fifty seven says all the world came 0:13:00.160 --> 0:13:03.000 to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph because the famine 0:13:03.080 --> 0:13:06.160 was severe everywhere. And this is where my compassion kicks in. 0:13:06.480 --> 0:13:08.480 When I hear a preacher yelling at somebody for being 0:13:08.520 --> 0:13:10.839 an alcoholic, or yelling at somebody because they have a 0:13:10.880 --> 0:13:13.400 sexual addiction, or yelling at somebody because they go over 0:13:13.400 --> 0:13:15.600 here and do this and that and the other. I 0:13:15.640 --> 0:13:17.480 feel kind of like the person on the other end 0:13:17.679 --> 0:13:20.240 needs to be able to say in their own defense, 0:13:21.600 --> 0:13:26.280 it needs a need, and then we can help you, 0:13:26.400 --> 0:13:30.560 once we're honest about that, find a better way to 0:13:30.760 --> 0:13:37.360 meet that need through God. That's what salvation is. That's 0:13:37.400 --> 0:13:41.480 what transformation has. Not that God tells you to starve 0:13:41.520 --> 0:13:44.760 and swallow your spit and like it, but to get 0:13:44.880 --> 0:13:49.600 joy from a place that won't create chains just to 0:13:49.640 --> 0:13:56.440 make you comfortable. Now the text that we're in, Remember 0:13:56.600 --> 0:14:00.800 it's been over four hundred years and the people of 0:14:00.840 --> 0:14:04.160 God have come out of Egypt. But as we've learned, 0:14:05.040 --> 0:14:08.600 it's a lot easier to come out of Egypt than 0:14:08.640 --> 0:14:13.080 to get Egypt out of you. And that's why no 0:14:13.120 --> 0:14:18.360 amount of new cities that you moved to can free 0:14:18.400 --> 0:14:25.560 you from internal struggles that you carry, I should do this. 0:14:26.000 --> 0:14:33.840 No amount of churches that you can hop to you 0:14:33.880 --> 0:14:37.160 want another one, No amount of hair colors. I've had 0:14:37.200 --> 0:14:39.000 a lot of hair colors. I'm telling you what I know. 0:14:40.960 --> 0:14:44.480 But what's in us in your now? When they felt 0:14:44.480 --> 0:14:46.800 the famine, they went to Egypt. And that wasn't a 0:14:46.800 --> 0:14:49.360 bad thing. It wasn't a bad thing. It wasn't a 0:14:49.360 --> 0:14:51.760 sinful thing. It wasn't like they went to Egypt to 0:14:51.840 --> 0:14:53.400 run away from God. It wasn't like you know, in 0:14:53.400 --> 0:14:55.880 the Bobby of Jonah running from God going to Nineveh 0:14:56.040 --> 0:14:58.120 instead of going to Tarsish forg government. Wasn't that kind 0:14:58.120 --> 0:15:04.400 of situation. It was a survivor instinct, and that's been 0:15:04.440 --> 0:15:08.840 you for a little while. It was either go to 0:15:08.880 --> 0:15:15.160 Egypt and survive or starve to death. You self medicated 0:15:15.160 --> 0:15:19.000 a lot of pain. You used anger as a defense 0:15:19.040 --> 0:15:22.720 mechanism so that you wouldn't be abused in the areas 0:15:22.720 --> 0:15:26.680 where you feel most vulnerable. That's how they got to Egypt. 0:15:28.320 --> 0:15:31.360 And if we could start there with a little bit 0:15:31.360 --> 0:15:35.640 of compassion to understand what the Israelites, you know, the 0:15:35.680 --> 0:15:38.520 passage I read it sounded kind of rough, right. They 0:15:38.560 --> 0:15:41.720 started complaining in the verses just before it says that 0:15:42.320 --> 0:15:44.880 they complained about their hardships and the presence of the Lord, 0:15:44.960 --> 0:15:47.400 and the outskirts of the camp started to burn and 0:15:47.440 --> 0:15:51.880 be consumed with fire when they were complaining. I'm like, dang, 0:15:51.920 --> 0:15:57.160 that's rough, because I guess one thing to criticize their 0:15:57.280 --> 0:16:04.080 attachment to Egypt. Don't even understand their abuse to put 0:16:04.080 --> 0:16:09.320 them in that position to begin with. So I'm reading 0:16:09.320 --> 0:16:13.760 it and I'm thinking about Graham. A while back, Holly 0:16:13.800 --> 0:16:17.560 asked him when you're out there wrestling, because he's a 0:16:17.600 --> 0:16:21.080 pretty good little wrestler. She said, do you listen to 0:16:21.120 --> 0:16:24.040 the coaches? Can you hear them when they're screaming at 0:16:24.080 --> 0:16:25.640 you what to do all this stuff? Because she doesn't 0:16:25.640 --> 0:16:29.640 know much about wrestling, But we're over there yelling cross face, sprawl, 0:16:29.800 --> 0:16:32.560 you know, all these things to do. He said, Well, 0:16:32.600 --> 0:16:35.840 I can hear them, but I don't listen because they 0:16:35.880 --> 0:16:40.880 don't know what I'm going through. They don't know they 0:16:40.880 --> 0:16:43.680 don't know what I'm what I'm feeling. I said, son, 0:16:43.800 --> 0:16:46.560 that's the benefit they have is that they can see it. 0:16:47.760 --> 0:16:50.840 They're trying to get you to see what you need 0:16:50.880 --> 0:16:54.720 to do, because when what you feel I start preaching 0:16:54.720 --> 0:16:56.560 to him about it. I start preaching to him about it. 0:16:56.800 --> 0:16:58.840 I start preaching to him about it. I said, because 0:16:58.880 --> 0:17:02.600 they have the they have the benefit of being outside 0:17:02.640 --> 0:17:06.160 of the situation to see what you need to do. 0:17:07.080 --> 0:17:10.760 You are so deep in the struggle. That's the children 0:17:10.760 --> 0:17:13.919 of Israel in numbers eleven. We look at this and 0:17:13.920 --> 0:17:17.920 we're like, oh, how stupid could you be. We want 0:17:17.920 --> 0:17:20.439 to go back to Egypt. Yeah, they want to go 0:17:20.560 --> 0:17:24.520 back to Egypt, just like you want to go back 0:17:24.560 --> 0:17:33.400 to Let me see your phone, and I can find 0:17:33.400 --> 0:17:38.000 your pharaoh. Let me see your phone. I can find 0:17:38.000 --> 0:17:39.359 your fear. I'm not gonna do it to you, but 0:17:39.400 --> 0:17:43.280 I could. Oh, I could do it. I could do it. 0:17:43.480 --> 0:17:45.359 I could find it because I know how it is. 0:17:45.400 --> 0:17:48.359 We're sitting are precident, We're preching it. It's been centuries 0:17:48.359 --> 0:17:55.040 since this was written, right, Sir, I don't have a pharaoh. 0:17:55.480 --> 0:18:00.199 Then why do I see you ignoring your kids, not 0:18:00.359 --> 0:18:05.919 living your real life and watch this filling yourself with 0:18:06.119 --> 0:18:11.720 stuff that makes you feel worse in the end. What's 0:18:11.760 --> 0:18:22.560 that about. I'll find your pharaoh, you can find mine. Yeah, 0:18:22.840 --> 0:18:25.560 Because you were thinking I don't need this sermon comfort foods. 0:18:25.600 --> 0:18:27.719 I'm doing pretty good with my eating. I'm on a 0:18:27.760 --> 0:18:35.040 gluten free drink only almond milk and wheat grass shots 0:18:35.080 --> 0:18:37.760 and things of this nature that are good for my 0:18:37.880 --> 0:18:41.479 digestive system and really kick the enzymes and overdrive. So 0:18:41.840 --> 0:18:46.520 you can give this to someone else. Okay, so you 0:18:46.560 --> 0:18:48.560 don't have comfort foods, you don't like cracker barrel, I 0:18:48.560 --> 0:18:50.440 get it. You're not saying you're not going to heaven, 0:18:50.600 --> 0:19:00.399 but that's all right. Do you have comfort friends? And 0:19:00.440 --> 0:19:05.120 I'm using the term friend loosely because we all need 0:19:05.160 --> 0:19:07.000 people that can sit with us and be with us, 0:19:07.000 --> 0:19:08.640 and we know they're there. I mean, I have several 0:19:08.840 --> 0:19:11.800 people in this room that would I wouldn't have made 0:19:11.800 --> 0:19:14.280 it this far without them. It's not what I'm talking about. 0:19:15.720 --> 0:19:20.439 I'm talking about they make you feel better for five minutes. 0:19:23.840 --> 0:19:26.679 Like I'm not saying you can avoid them or cut 0:19:26.720 --> 0:19:28.440 them off because you got to show love like Jesus. 0:19:28.760 --> 0:19:31.239 But I just want you to identify this because I 0:19:31.240 --> 0:19:36.399 think some of us are drawn to relationships that keep 0:19:36.480 --> 0:19:42.040 us in chains, and we like the chains because they're comfortable, 0:19:44.160 --> 0:19:46.800 and when we meet somebody who would really challenge us 0:19:46.800 --> 0:19:55.399 to change, we push them away I like chains. It 0:19:55.440 --> 0:20:03.439 feels comfortable, but it's not safe. It's not safe. You know, 0:20:03.440 --> 0:20:09.080 there's a difference, right. It's kind of interesting to me 0:20:09.600 --> 0:20:14.080 that we not only have comfort foods and sometimes comfort friends, 0:20:15.840 --> 0:20:22.240 comfort phrases, things that we say to make ourselves feel better, 0:20:22.280 --> 0:20:25.760 like excuses we make or we blame comfort phrases. Not 0:20:25.840 --> 0:20:32.600 just comfort foods, comfort phrases. We feed ourselves these lines. Oh, well, 0:20:32.600 --> 0:20:34.760 that's why I'm like that, and I never do that, 0:20:34.920 --> 0:20:36.600 and well they can only do that because of this 0:20:36.680 --> 0:20:39.359 and that, and well, nobody really loves me. That's just 0:20:39.520 --> 0:20:44.280 all a way to keep us in the comfort of 0:20:44.320 --> 0:20:49.960 our dysfunctional life. And you see it in the Israelites. 0:20:50.000 --> 0:20:52.640 But you got to feel for them because they've been 0:20:52.680 --> 0:20:58.280 in the wilderness for a year now, one year, one year, 0:20:58.720 --> 0:21:05.680 and they've been eating the same menu item called mana, 0:21:05.800 --> 0:21:08.520 the manna. It's kind of difficult to describe to you. 0:21:08.600 --> 0:21:10.720 One is, because we don't have the same version of 0:21:10.760 --> 0:21:12.680 that now. I can't bring it up here passing around 0:21:12.680 --> 0:21:15.199 to do communion with it. You're not getting this at 0:21:15.240 --> 0:21:18.160 Whole Foods. And I don't know that it was very delicious, 0:21:18.160 --> 0:21:20.000 but it got the job done. And some seasons, God 0:21:20.000 --> 0:21:25.520 will provide for you with something it's not necessarily like savory, 0:21:26.520 --> 0:21:30.159 but it'll help you survive. And some seasons in our 0:21:30.200 --> 0:21:33.480 life are like that. When they saw it manna literally 0:21:33.520 --> 0:21:37.240 means what is it? It was brand new to them, 0:21:38.080 --> 0:21:42.720 didn't taste like anything they've tasted before. But you gotta imagine, like, 0:21:42.720 --> 0:21:45.800 the way it would work is when the dew would appear, 0:21:46.080 --> 0:21:48.240 the mana would come and they could get enough for 0:21:48.400 --> 0:21:51.680 that day. Right, give us this day our daily bread. 0:21:51.800 --> 0:21:54.160 That's how God provides for you enough for right now, 0:21:54.400 --> 0:21:56.320 enough for right now, and there will be more for 0:21:56.359 --> 0:21:58.679 the next day. But you cannot reach into tomorrow and 0:21:58.720 --> 0:22:01.159 pull in today's peace or some ply or joy or 0:22:01.200 --> 0:22:04.000 anything like that. That's where you get stressed. That's where 0:22:04.040 --> 0:22:06.000 you start wanting to go back to Egypt, start thinking 0:22:06.040 --> 0:22:09.520 about the future or the past. All these things are dangerous. 0:22:09.680 --> 0:22:12.080 But what was it like the first day they saw 0:22:12.080 --> 0:22:18.920 the mana? Wow? What is it? I'm curious. Wow, there's 0:22:18.960 --> 0:22:22.280 this strange sweet food on the ground. It's like honey 0:22:22.280 --> 0:22:26.280 covered way first, it's a strange taste, but at least 0:22:26.320 --> 0:22:29.520 we're eating. Remember, God wanted to bring them into the 0:22:29.560 --> 0:22:35.080 Promised land. They tasted the grapes of Canaan, but they 0:22:35.160 --> 0:22:37.720 forfeited their right to the fruit of that land because 0:22:37.760 --> 0:22:40.720 of their lack of faith. So this put them in 0:22:40.760 --> 0:22:43.280 a position of circling in the wilderness. And they've been 0:22:43.280 --> 0:22:49.880 there for one year now, and the Mana has gotten monotonous. 0:22:52.240 --> 0:23:02.359 The miracle has gotten monotonous, all of us complaining, ungrateful people, 0:23:02.400 --> 0:23:06.920 get ready because I'm coming for us. The miracle got 0:23:06.960 --> 0:23:12.000 monotonous to you. I thought that's how it said it 0:23:12.080 --> 0:23:15.280 in the verse. Put numbers eleven six up there against 0:23:15.280 --> 0:23:16.879 so Jenna can see it. She needs to see this. 0:23:18.760 --> 0:23:23.640 We've lost our appetite. We never see anything but this manna. 0:23:24.400 --> 0:23:26.640 Like how you felt in quarantine looking at John sal 0:23:26.800 --> 0:23:29.960 every day, looking at that same guy every day. You 0:23:29.960 --> 0:23:32.600 remember you used to see him up on stage praising God. 0:23:32.640 --> 0:23:34.960 Awe if I could just be with that man of 0:23:35.040 --> 0:23:38.760 God with his annointed vocal course. And then about month 0:23:39.000 --> 0:23:42.520 month three of quarantine, month for you're looking at him like, 0:23:42.560 --> 0:23:46.080 what is it? You know, it's changed from a statement 0:23:47.080 --> 0:23:51.800 of possibility to predictability. And now I'm bored with this. 0:23:53.800 --> 0:23:56.639 Used to watch elevation online all the way across the world. 0:23:56.800 --> 0:24:04.840 Now six am rehearsals. What is it? That's what amazes 0:24:04.920 --> 0:24:07.680 me about how you stay excited. I love that because 0:24:07.720 --> 0:24:13.000 to eat the same thing every day. So I thought, 0:24:13.400 --> 0:24:15.880 what got them in trouble? I thought, what got them 0:24:15.880 --> 0:24:19.520 in trouble is that is that they had the same 0:24:19.600 --> 0:24:22.680 thing every day. And so they started complaining, all we 0:24:22.720 --> 0:24:27.360 want the fish of Egypt, the fish of Pharaoh. Oh 0:24:27.600 --> 0:24:30.680 so good. I'm sick of this man. I'm so tired 0:24:30.720 --> 0:24:33.000 of this man. I'm so tired of this man. I'm 0:24:33.040 --> 0:24:35.240 so tired of this woman. I'm so tired of this life. 0:24:35.440 --> 0:24:39.880 I'm so tired of this thing. It's the same every day. 0:24:40.960 --> 0:24:43.960 But I had to keep studying it for the context, 0:24:45.080 --> 0:24:48.159 because that's where the key was to me, understanding what 0:24:48.320 --> 0:24:52.240 really happened here, What made them want to go back 0:24:52.280 --> 0:24:55.920 to a place where they were slaves, What made them 0:24:55.960 --> 0:25:01.800 want to give up their right to freedom, to go 0:25:01.880 --> 0:25:07.480 back into their role as slaves. See, on one hand, 0:25:07.520 --> 0:25:11.119 the Manna was the same every day, never changed flavors. 0:25:11.359 --> 0:25:14.040 It's like God put a HelloFresh in the wilderness, but 0:25:14.160 --> 0:25:16.480 it was the same. It's like it got locked on 0:25:16.560 --> 0:25:22.000 the same all right, the same meal every time, and 0:25:22.080 --> 0:25:25.440 you keep waiting on it change and it doesn't. At 0:25:25.440 --> 0:25:30.000 the same time, while everything was the same every day, 0:25:30.160 --> 0:25:37.280 same wilderness, same food, same diet, same same same same same, 0:25:38.080 --> 0:25:43.960 same old crap, same old patterns, same old me. I 0:25:44.000 --> 0:25:46.000 asked the Lord, when year could I just have somebody 0:25:46.040 --> 0:25:49.560 else's dysfunctions, just to try them on and see if 0:25:49.560 --> 0:25:51.880 I liked them better? You get tired of your own 0:25:53.480 --> 0:25:57.639 At the same time that everything was the same and 0:25:57.680 --> 0:26:05.480 they were sick of it. Everything had changed. At the 0:26:05.480 --> 0:26:07.719 same time that they were eating the same food every day. 0:26:07.720 --> 0:26:08.960 I want to see if you can relate to this. 0:26:09.240 --> 0:26:11.080 At the same time that they were doing the same 0:26:11.080 --> 0:26:13.280 thing every day, gathering the same man. Okay, we take 0:26:13.280 --> 0:26:15.320 it this day, we leave it on Sunday, we get 0:26:15.359 --> 0:26:18.440 you're on Saturday, we get twice as much before the Sabbath, 0:26:18.480 --> 0:26:20.400 and then we rest. At the same time that they're 0:26:20.400 --> 0:26:25.600 going through this gridlock system of the same. Everything has changed. 0:26:27.000 --> 0:26:31.520 They've never been free before, not for four hundred years 0:26:31.520 --> 0:26:38.240 at least, and everything has changed, and everything is the 0:26:38.280 --> 0:26:42.800 same every day. And it is the combination of everything 0:26:42.880 --> 0:26:50.800 feeling the same, mundane boring, along with the instability of 0:26:50.880 --> 0:26:55.400 everything that you've ever known going away that causes them 0:26:55.400 --> 0:27:02.719 to crave something that almost kills them. Wow. Wow, do 0:27:02.800 --> 0:27:04.520 you think this is a little bit like us in 0:27:04.560 --> 0:27:10.560 the year twenty twenty one where it feels like everything changed, 0:27:12.200 --> 0:27:15.960 and at the same time, every day just feels like 0:27:17.160 --> 0:27:23.000 another replay, the same bad news, the same thing. Because look, everything, 0:27:23.320 --> 0:27:25.159 I gotta tell you the whole story, because if I 0:27:25.200 --> 0:27:26.840 just give you a compendium of this, you will miss 0:27:26.840 --> 0:27:28.920 the essence of it. It's really important that you get 0:27:28.920 --> 0:27:32.320 inside of this. They had to move constantly in the wilderness, 0:27:33.040 --> 0:27:35.280 and they had no you're you're ready to see how 0:27:35.320 --> 0:27:37.720 relevant the Bible is. They had no schedule for it. 0:27:39.560 --> 0:27:41.359 So every day it was like, am I taking my 0:27:41.480 --> 0:27:45.240 kids to school? Am I gonna drop them off at school? 0:27:45.280 --> 0:27:46.920 Am I gonna drop them in a river? Am I 0:27:46.960 --> 0:27:48.800 gonna homeschool them? Cook them lunch? I mean, well, you 0:27:48.840 --> 0:27:51.800 know what am I gonna do with them today? So 0:27:51.920 --> 0:27:54.200 it's day by day? The man, it was day by day, 0:27:54.320 --> 0:27:57.240 but it was the same, but everything had changed. And 0:27:57.280 --> 0:27:59.680 so at first I thought, Okay, well they just wanted 0:27:59.720 --> 0:28:02.119 to but no, they wanted the same, but they wanted 0:28:02.160 --> 0:28:04.440 to change. But they wanted the same, and they were 0:28:04.680 --> 0:28:12.800 stuck in between, and in between you have nothing. That's 0:28:12.840 --> 0:28:16.120 what Bono said. Bono said one time they were about 0:28:16.160 --> 0:28:18.360 to break up. You two, he said, and in order 0:28:18.400 --> 0:28:20.320 to get to the next expression of the band, you 0:28:20.400 --> 0:28:24.760 have to reject the first one, and in between you 0:28:24.880 --> 0:28:30.800 have nothing. That's what it feels like at first. So 0:28:30.920 --> 0:28:32.560 to fill it, you want to go back to what 0:28:32.640 --> 0:28:35.879 you know, right. That's why we can preach these sermons. 0:28:35.920 --> 0:28:38.360 You know, I want you to leave your life of 0:28:38.480 --> 0:28:43.360 sin behind. And that sermon feels good for five minutes, 0:28:44.720 --> 0:28:48.840 For five okay, I'll give you fifteen minutes. I'll even 0:28:48.880 --> 0:28:52.200 give you three days. But see that doesn't really change anyone, 0:28:52.480 --> 0:28:55.720 because what is happening as you are embracing your new 0:28:55.800 --> 0:29:01.120 nature in christis you got out of Egypt, but all 0:29:01.160 --> 0:29:05.760 of Egypt is not out of you yet. And it's 0:29:05.800 --> 0:29:07.720 not that they're not a real Christian, and it's not 0:29:07.840 --> 0:29:09.920 that you're a bad person, and it's not you need 0:29:10.000 --> 0:29:13.160 somebody to beat you of you straw across face. I 0:29:13.240 --> 0:29:15.720 got something on top of me that I need to 0:29:15.760 --> 0:29:19.320 know how to deal with. I feel the famine. And 0:29:19.320 --> 0:29:23.360 then the question becomes, so where do you go when 0:29:23.400 --> 0:29:33.080 you feel the famine? When you feel alone, when you 0:29:33.120 --> 0:29:38.440 feel ashamed, when you feel afraid. I heard it this 0:29:38.480 --> 0:29:44.320 way in my mind, fruit or fish, Not that one's 0:29:44.360 --> 0:29:47.480 bad on the dietary level. I'm no nutritionis promise you 0:29:47.480 --> 0:29:51.000 that I can't teach you about boiled peanuts and the 0:29:51.040 --> 0:29:53.040 correct way to eat them and the exact time to 0:29:53.080 --> 0:29:54.960 eat them. We could teach you these things and another 0:29:55.000 --> 0:29:59.640 seminar at some point. But remember what God wanted for 0:29:59.680 --> 0:30:03.120 his peace when he let them spy out the land, 0:30:03.360 --> 0:30:06.520 the grapes of canaan. And then look what has come 0:30:06.560 --> 0:30:09.400 to after one year in the wilderness. And think about 0:30:09.440 --> 0:30:11.520 what has come to after a year of us going 0:30:11.560 --> 0:30:14.560 through a very unsettling time. And at the same time 0:30:14.560 --> 0:30:19.240 it's unsettling, it's completely boring. How can we be so 0:30:19.640 --> 0:30:26.400 bored and so scared at the same time. It's been 0:30:26.440 --> 0:30:29.400 one year in the wilderness. I remember when the first 0:30:29.400 --> 0:30:31.480 guy came to elevation with a mask on, and I 0:30:31.520 --> 0:30:34.800 told security to keep an eye on him because I'd 0:30:34.800 --> 0:30:39.040 never seen that before. This was before the pandemic, before 0:30:39.080 --> 0:30:43.240 the NBA shut down, before we before we have any 0:30:43.280 --> 0:30:45.080 clue that this was going to be what it is. 0:30:45.400 --> 0:30:47.520 And I remember them telling me on a Saturday night. 0:30:47.600 --> 0:30:49.360 There's a guy here with a mask on. There's a 0:30:49.360 --> 0:30:51.239 guy here with a mask on, and we thought he 0:30:51.280 --> 0:30:56.240 was an aly and we've never seen that before. And 0:30:56.280 --> 0:31:00.560 now the whole world feels like no offense, but like 0:31:00.600 --> 0:31:04.520 a TSA checkpoint where I don't know the rules from 0:31:04.560 --> 0:31:08.320 one thing to the next, and I'm completely disoriented, Like 0:31:08.560 --> 0:31:10.760 if wear a mask. In some places they're like, oh, 0:31:10.760 --> 0:31:13.480 that's great, you love your neighbor other you're a communist 0:31:13.760 --> 0:31:18.600 Euros conspiracy illuminati, you know. Ah. And so everything's so 0:31:18.800 --> 0:31:29.160 predictably stupid. Everybody's so predictably mad. That's mad all the time. 0:31:30.960 --> 0:31:34.840 And so now I crave something stable. But watch this, 0:31:35.360 --> 0:31:41.880 shains aren't stable. They only make you feel that way. 0:31:42.720 --> 0:31:45.840 So now, if I stay in Egypt, if I stay 0:31:45.880 --> 0:31:49.720 with meeting the need, if I stay with Pharaoh, whatever 0:31:49.800 --> 0:31:57.080 my Pharaoh is, I will never befure. That's the thing 0:31:57.080 --> 0:32:01.600 about Pharaoh's fish. We wish. Look, we hood in Egypt. Really, 0:32:03.120 --> 0:32:06.680 you want whips like you had in Egypt? Come on, 0:32:07.560 --> 0:32:09.800 come on, I want to get back to who it 0:32:10.120 --> 0:32:15.280 was BC before Corona. I don't want to get back 0:32:15.320 --> 0:32:19.920 to the old ways, the old times. I don't want 0:32:19.920 --> 0:32:21.720 to get back to how it was when I was 0:32:21.760 --> 0:32:25.520 having a nervous breakdown and my husban verge of divorce, 0:32:25.600 --> 0:32:29.160 And yeah, I get back to that garlic and onions 0:32:29.200 --> 0:32:34.000 and leaks. That's what they were talking about. And the 0:32:34.080 --> 0:32:37.040 reason they were thinking about Egypt's garlic is because they 0:32:37.040 --> 0:32:49.680 had forfeited Canaan's grapes. It's the same every day, and 0:32:49.720 --> 0:32:53.880 yet we can't plan anything. And I just thought I 0:32:53.880 --> 0:32:56.000 got to preach this because it feels like it belongs 0:32:56.040 --> 0:33:00.400 in a newspaper. It feels like it was written for us. 0:33:01.320 --> 0:33:09.280 We're hungry. We're hungry, and we got to decide whether 0:33:09.360 --> 0:33:12.560 we're going to crave the fish of Egypt or move 0:33:12.640 --> 0:33:16.400 forward into the fruit of Canaan. The manna was never 0:33:16.480 --> 0:33:20.320 meant to be permanent. The manna was the mercy of God. 0:33:20.480 --> 0:33:22.400 You know. The reason they didn't like the taste of manna, 0:33:22.440 --> 0:33:25.560 they weren't supposed to. God didn't want them to die 0:33:25.560 --> 0:33:30.960 in the wilderness. So he's using those things to get 0:33:30.960 --> 0:33:34.520 you going forward to the grapes. He's using these things. 0:33:34.680 --> 0:33:38.280 He's using this dissatisfaction so that you don't settle in 0:33:38.320 --> 0:33:42.920 a place of survival, but just step into everything that 0:33:42.960 --> 0:33:45.800 he has for you, and some of us were going 0:33:45.880 --> 0:33:49.160 to die in the wilderness, but God allowed us to 0:33:49.280 --> 0:33:59.320 lose our taste for comfort food. It's pretty good. It's 0:33:59.320 --> 0:34:02.600 pretty good. I didn't even give you the message yet. 0:34:02.720 --> 0:34:07.240 Watch this. The whole time that I've read this passage, 0:34:07.240 --> 0:34:08.840 because I've read it before and i've heard it. You 0:34:08.920 --> 0:34:11.200 just talk talk about a devotion on complaining. You know, 0:34:11.280 --> 0:34:13.879 make up your bed, don't complain, do the right thing, 0:34:13.920 --> 0:34:15.960 don't complain, shut up, or wear your mask or don't 0:34:15.960 --> 0:34:18.320 wear your mask and don't complain. Right, that's a surface 0:34:18.400 --> 0:34:23.000 level interpretation. What we're looking for is what really makes 0:34:23.080 --> 0:34:27.359 me crave something that kills me? Or like you said 0:34:27.360 --> 0:34:30.280 in the Pound the other day, Elijah said something. He goes, 0:34:31.360 --> 0:34:37.359 why do we crave what we hate? I said, stop 0:34:37.440 --> 0:34:39.200 right now. We're in the middle of a workout. I said, 0:34:39.200 --> 0:34:41.640 stop right now. I took a big red marker and 0:34:41.640 --> 0:34:47.520 wrote it down on the page. That's the question we're after. Remember, 0:34:47.560 --> 0:34:51.520 they cried out for God to get them out of Egypt. Yeah, 0:34:53.040 --> 0:34:56.720 and then God did, and now they're willing to go back. 0:34:57.840 --> 0:35:02.080 But I get it because, like Graham said, I'm not 0:35:02.200 --> 0:35:05.040 under the pressure of having to follow a moving cloud 0:35:05.120 --> 0:35:07.719 and a fire and not ever knowing when I'm going 0:35:07.800 --> 0:35:15.240 to be situated. So why do you crave what you hate? 0:35:15.920 --> 0:35:20.040 Why do you prefer pessimistic thoughts? Why you just tend 0:35:20.040 --> 0:35:25.880 to gravitate toward that or self pity? Why you like that? 0:35:27.440 --> 0:35:29.680 Why do you like to say stuff, real horrible stuff 0:35:29.680 --> 0:35:31.759 about yourself that you would fight somebody else if they 0:35:31.760 --> 0:35:33.520 said it to one of your friends. Why do you 0:35:33.560 --> 0:35:37.600 crave that? Why you feed yourself? That feed yourself? That 0:35:38.000 --> 0:35:40.040 I always like to point out when we're talking about 0:35:40.200 --> 0:35:42.800 your phone is your pharaoh. That most of the stuff 0:35:42.840 --> 0:35:48.520 that you're doing is called a feed. And have you 0:35:48.560 --> 0:35:51.279 noticed it doesn't really feel you. How many have you 0:35:51.320 --> 0:35:53.759 got off Instagram or Facebook one night this week and say, God, 0:35:53.800 --> 0:35:57.239 I just feel so fresh, I feel so ready for 0:35:57.280 --> 0:35:59.680 what's next? You know what? My faith in humanity is 0:35:59.680 --> 0:36:02.680 RECs storage. Just seeing the comments of those who the 0:36:02.680 --> 0:36:08.279 Lord is appointed to speak into my life. Hmm, garlic 0:36:08.719 --> 0:36:15.400 onions leagues, this is delicious. Listen man, It's like it 0:36:15.440 --> 0:36:17.400 was in Egypt. They gave them bricks with no straw. 0:36:17.680 --> 0:36:20.480 That's what these social media apps are designed to do 0:36:20.600 --> 0:36:23.120 to us, to starve us and to keep us coming. 0:36:23.239 --> 0:36:26.719 You'll better watch the documentary on Netflix. This crap is 0:36:26.800 --> 0:36:32.080 real and it doesn't fill you. Your appetite for the 0:36:32.120 --> 0:36:37.200 wrong things is insatiable. And yet some of the stuff 0:36:37.239 --> 0:36:40.720 you crave isn't bad. It's just where are you gonna 0:36:40.760 --> 0:36:45.799 go to get it? That's what I love. That's what 0:36:45.880 --> 0:36:49.839 I love about God is that He's got what I 0:36:49.920 --> 0:36:54.560 really want. So let me ask you a question. Why 0:36:54.600 --> 0:36:58.719 would you run to Pharaoh to beg for something that 0:36:58.880 --> 0:37:04.719 your father can really give you want. I don't want 0:37:04.760 --> 0:37:06.920 this to be a negative sermon. Let me preach for 0:37:06.960 --> 0:37:10.799 a few minutes about your father's fridge. All right, let 0:37:10.880 --> 0:37:13.680 me preach for a few We're talking about comfort food. 0:37:14.440 --> 0:37:17.480 So let's go all the way forward a few centuries 0:37:17.760 --> 0:37:20.720 when a rabbi named Jesus showed up and started teaching, 0:37:21.120 --> 0:37:23.440 and he said, let me tell you what the Kingdom 0:37:23.480 --> 0:37:27.000 of God is like. The Kingdom of God is like, Oh, 0:37:27.120 --> 0:37:29.800 it's like a man who has a hundred sheep lost 0:37:29.840 --> 0:37:32.640 one went after the one. Oh, it's like a woman 0:37:32.640 --> 0:37:35.680 who had ten coins lost one went after the one. 0:37:36.200 --> 0:37:38.359 Or if you didn't get that, it's like a man 0:37:38.400 --> 0:37:43.359 who had two sons lost one. The one said, I'm 0:37:43.360 --> 0:37:46.880 going to take my inheritance, said the Bible says in 0:37:47.040 --> 0:37:50.360 Luke fifteen. God, I love how the Bible just goes together. 0:37:50.520 --> 0:37:53.520 It's like a great meal where all of the dishes 0:37:53.560 --> 0:37:56.799 compliment each other. And I was thinking about the famine 0:37:56.880 --> 0:38:00.239 that they felt in the wilderness, and then I thought 0:38:00.239 --> 0:38:03.080 about this, this younger son in Luke fifteen. You know, 0:38:03.160 --> 0:38:05.919 miss the prodigal son. You might have heard about him. 0:38:06.040 --> 0:38:08.560 He gets blamed for a lot of stuff. He went 0:38:08.600 --> 0:38:11.880 out and took his money, his father's money, and wasted it. 0:38:12.080 --> 0:38:15.080 He took what he could have invested and wasted it. 0:38:15.120 --> 0:38:17.520 And some of us have done that. We've wasted time, 0:38:17.800 --> 0:38:21.600 we've wasted thoughts. We've wasted energy, we've wasted intellect. We've 0:38:21.600 --> 0:38:27.840 wasted passions, we've wasted desires. We have craved inordinate things. 0:38:29.280 --> 0:38:32.359 That's what the word means in numbers eleven four. It 0:38:32.440 --> 0:38:38.600 means to crave an inordinate thing, with an indiscriminate leaning 0:38:38.640 --> 0:38:45.640 on your senses, just eaten anything. And that's what happened 0:38:45.680 --> 0:38:50.759 to the son who left his father's house. I want 0:38:50.760 --> 0:38:52.000 to read this to you and see if this is 0:38:52.040 --> 0:38:55.440 how you've been feeling lately. The Lord told me that 0:38:55.520 --> 0:38:58.880 we are feeling the famine. And it's not even just 0:38:58.920 --> 0:39:00.640 an economic thing, because you might be like, well, my 0:39:00.719 --> 0:39:05.040 job's fine. I think we're feeling a famine just for 0:39:05.840 --> 0:39:12.120 some basic human contact these days, because everything's new and 0:39:12.160 --> 0:39:15.480 everything's the same, and it feels endless and it feels 0:39:15.480 --> 0:39:18.799 different all at the same time. I never had to 0:39:18.840 --> 0:39:20.960 walk up to people think before and think, do we 0:39:21.000 --> 0:39:22.960 shake hands? Are we going to do this? I used 0:39:22.960 --> 0:39:24.439 to have to be like, are we gonna adapt? We're 0:39:24.480 --> 0:39:26.239 just gonna shake What are we doing? Are we doing this? 0:39:26.280 --> 0:39:27.799 Are we doing that? Now? I don't even know if 0:39:27.800 --> 0:39:31.000 we touch each other. I never had to ask that before. 0:39:32.719 --> 0:39:35.080 But it feels like it's just the same every day. 0:39:36.719 --> 0:39:39.600 And when the younger brother look at Luke fifteen, verse thirteen, 0:39:39.880 --> 0:39:42.319 it said he got together everything that his father gave 0:39:42.400 --> 0:39:46.760 him set out to a distant country. You see that, yes, 0:39:47.440 --> 0:39:48.800 put it in the chat, say I see it a 0:39:48.840 --> 0:39:53.000 distant country. So he went to a foreign place, just 0:39:53.040 --> 0:39:58.759 like the Israelites. Now here's the difference. He went to 0:39:58.800 --> 0:40:01.239 a foreign place. Put the verse back, cup please. He 0:40:01.280 --> 0:40:04.480 went to a foreign place, and he wasn't running from 0:40:04.480 --> 0:40:12.680 a famine. He was running from his father. I understand 0:40:12.760 --> 0:40:16.880 running from a famine, but why would he run from 0:40:17.280 --> 0:40:23.120 his father? When he got there, he squandered his wealth 0:40:23.760 --> 0:40:27.600 in wild living. When you read that, you think about 0:40:27.600 --> 0:40:32.840 all the things that you don't struggle with. But I 0:40:32.880 --> 0:40:35.920 would challenge you to plug in something that personally fits 0:40:35.960 --> 0:40:39.000 for you there. Don't take it straight to the strip 0:40:39.000 --> 0:40:40.839 club because you would never go there. When you see 0:40:40.840 --> 0:40:44.600 wild living, think about the other things. Think about the 0:40:44.640 --> 0:40:49.440 things that keep you spending, spending, spending, spending, spending, not 0:40:49.520 --> 0:40:54.240 just money, but keep you just spending, spending, spending, Hungry, hungry, hungry, thirsty, thirsty, thirsty, 0:40:54.320 --> 0:40:59.960 right feeding, feeding, feeding, Think about these things, think about 0:41:00.120 --> 0:41:02.040 what it is for you. It could be something different 0:41:02.040 --> 0:41:03.719 for each person in here. But look at this, what 0:41:04.120 --> 0:41:08.879 happened next first place, after he has spent everything, Because 0:41:08.920 --> 0:41:15.279 that's what eventually happens. That's what eventually happens. Eventually you're 0:41:15.320 --> 0:41:20.040 just spent. How many can testify that? Eventually? You know? 0:41:20.600 --> 0:41:23.359 When you go to a foreigned place away from who 0:41:23.400 --> 0:41:27.240 you know, you really are away from character. First, chasing 0:41:27.280 --> 0:41:31.600 after applause from people, or chasing after somebody's approval, it 0:41:31.680 --> 0:41:35.000 doesn't feel you Pharaoh can never feed you. There aren't 0:41:35.080 --> 0:41:37.319 enough fish in the world. And while we're at it, 0:41:37.560 --> 0:41:40.880 the fish aren't that good. They aren't as good as 0:41:40.920 --> 0:41:43.959 you remember them. They aren't as good as you imagine them. 0:41:44.200 --> 0:41:48.240 The fish are not that good. It's full of bones 0:41:48.600 --> 0:41:51.359 and it'll choke you on the bones. The fish are 0:41:51.440 --> 0:41:55.440 not that good. The fish are not worth me giving 0:41:55.520 --> 0:41:58.760 up myself for the fish are not worth me giving 0:41:58.840 --> 0:42:01.320 up my peace for No. No, there's not a fish 0:42:01.360 --> 0:42:05.320 in the world. There is not a fish in Egypt. 0:42:06.239 --> 0:42:09.520 There is not a fish in the Nile that is 0:42:09.560 --> 0:42:12.880 worth me giving up my knowledge of God and myself. 0:42:14.000 --> 0:42:17.399 That's what the younger brother did. And after he had 0:42:17.400 --> 0:42:24.840 spent everything, there was a severe famine in the whole country, 0:42:25.760 --> 0:42:27.279 and he began to be in need. And it was 0:42:27.320 --> 0:42:30.560 a good thing that there was a famine, because it 0:42:30.600 --> 0:42:36.120 brought him back to his father. It's a good thing 0:42:37.480 --> 0:42:39.640 if it brings you closer to God, it's a good thing. 0:42:40.320 --> 0:42:42.800 I'm not talking about feels good in this five minutes. 0:42:43.600 --> 0:42:51.320 I'm not talking about comfort. I'm talking about change, grace, faith, 0:42:52.640 --> 0:42:55.680 the good stuff, the stuff you can live on, not 0:42:55.840 --> 0:43:00.200 what this kid started eating. Look what happens to you 0:43:00.960 --> 0:43:03.120 when you leave your father. Look what happens to you 0:43:03.480 --> 0:43:08.120 when you start remembering Egypt's fish and forgetting God's faithfulness. 0:43:10.200 --> 0:43:14.160 Look what happens This boy went and hired himself out 0:43:15.000 --> 0:43:17.439 to a citizen of that country. You don't belong here. 0:43:18.800 --> 0:43:22.000 I'm saying that to somebody. You do not belong in 0:43:22.080 --> 0:43:25.400 this low place. You do not belong at three in 0:43:25.440 --> 0:43:29.200 the morning on some porn hub, trying to find something 0:43:29.280 --> 0:43:31.799 to fill you that only makes you more hungry. You 0:43:31.880 --> 0:43:34.560 do not belong in that place. And yes, this is 0:43:34.560 --> 0:43:37.600 a real pulpit, and yes we talk about real stuff. 0:43:37.840 --> 0:43:40.279 And yes, I live in the world, and yes I 0:43:40.360 --> 0:43:51.160 know that some of us. I'm not yelling at you. 0:43:53.160 --> 0:44:00.319 I'm pleading with you. Yeah, don't let a craven kill you. Yeah, 0:44:00.800 --> 0:44:04.799 you want acceptance good, you want enjoy good, you want 0:44:04.880 --> 0:44:08.160 life good, you want more good. The problem with most 0:44:08.239 --> 0:44:11.120 Christians isn't that we want too much. We don't want enough. 0:44:13.600 --> 0:44:16.240 We'll settle for fish. God wants to give us fruit, 0:44:17.719 --> 0:44:20.279 We'll settle for a hide. When God wants us to 0:44:20.320 --> 0:44:23.879 be seated above all the noise of this world. I'm 0:44:23.920 --> 0:44:30.759 telling you what I found out the hard way. The 0:44:30.800 --> 0:44:34.120 boy didn't want to know. He just wanted his share 0:44:34.160 --> 0:44:36.839 of the inheritance. And look where it left him, Look 0:44:36.840 --> 0:44:39.239 where it leaves you. This is why we've been feeling weak. 0:44:39.480 --> 0:44:41.680 This is why, not because of something going on externally. 0:44:41.760 --> 0:44:44.520 No no, no, no, no no no. The Bible says 0:44:44.560 --> 0:44:47.520 that he looked at the pigs that he was feeding 0:44:47.600 --> 0:44:52.719 verse sixteen, and he longed to fill his stomach with 0:44:52.800 --> 0:45:00.520 the pods. That the pig's reading comfort food, something that 0:45:00.680 --> 0:45:03.160 was fit for an animal. Have you been doing that? 0:45:04.080 --> 0:45:07.560 Thoughts that you telling yourself things, You've been believing lies, 0:45:07.600 --> 0:45:10.720 You've been going to just to feel full for five 0:45:10.960 --> 0:45:22.319 minutes and then he had a moment of realization. And 0:45:22.360 --> 0:45:26.120 I love it because he came verse seventeen to his 0:45:26.200 --> 0:45:35.359 senses and he said to himself, my father's fridge is full. 0:45:37.160 --> 0:45:39.840 I just paraphrase that. I like the way that sounded. 0:45:41.239 --> 0:45:44.120 Put it right there in the chat. Say it with 0:45:44.280 --> 0:45:48.960 your mouth out loud. My father's fridge is full. Say 0:45:49.000 --> 0:45:52.960 it again. My father's fridge is full. Say it again, 0:45:53.000 --> 0:45:57.200 out loud. My father's fridge is full. Multitask while you're 0:45:57.239 --> 0:46:01.200 typing it, say it, my father's fridge is full. Look 0:46:01.239 --> 0:46:02.840 at the person on the couch next to you and 0:46:02.880 --> 0:46:05.759 brag about it. Look at him and say, my father's 0:46:05.960 --> 0:46:09.040 fridge is full. And tell somebody else that you've been 0:46:09.080 --> 0:46:12.319 going to that's been abusing you. Your fish are not 0:46:12.520 --> 0:46:17.920 that delicious. My father's fridge is full. And tell every 0:46:17.960 --> 0:46:22.680 pharaoh that keeps you in chains of ways of believing 0:46:22.880 --> 0:46:27.080 and behaving and living and thinking and hurting and bleeding 0:46:27.320 --> 0:46:32.080 and starving, my father's fridge is full. The thought pharaoh, 0:46:33.120 --> 0:46:37.880 I got a father, The thought pigs, I got a father. 0:46:41.520 --> 0:46:47.040 It's full, it's full. He's got all the comfort you need, 0:46:47.719 --> 0:46:50.160 he's got all the joy you have him In needing 0:46:50.200 --> 0:46:52.560 the wrong things, you've been getting them from the wrong place. 0:46:58.719 --> 0:47:05.600 It's an acquired day. Truth is an acquired taste when 0:47:05.640 --> 0:47:12.200 you've been eating lies all your life. So the Lord 0:47:12.239 --> 0:47:18.480 said that we should think about comfort food today. We 0:47:18.520 --> 0:47:22.560 should ask ourselves the question why do I crave what 0:47:22.640 --> 0:47:26.360 I hate? And what would be a better way to 0:47:26.400 --> 0:47:31.280 get in? You know, like practically there is a better 0:47:31.360 --> 0:47:35.640 way inside of God to get this done. For everything 0:47:35.680 --> 0:47:38.759 that's destroying your life. I want you to realize that 0:47:38.800 --> 0:47:42.560 your father has it in every decision that you make. 0:47:42.840 --> 0:47:45.120 Here's what you're deciding, am I going to get it 0:47:45.160 --> 0:47:48.440 from Pharaoh? Or am I going to get it from 0:47:48.480 --> 0:47:57.160 my father. One is a chain restaurant. It's going to 0:47:57.239 --> 0:48:01.120 keep you stuck right where you are in Egypt. But 0:48:01.160 --> 0:48:06.480 the other one, if the sun makes you free, you 0:48:06.520 --> 0:48:11.640 will be free. Indeed, and the key to everything I'm 0:48:11.680 --> 0:48:16.399 trying to teach you is in Numbers, chapter eleven, verse four, 0:48:18.040 --> 0:48:23.720 when the Israelites craved the meat of Egypt. It all started. 0:48:24.560 --> 0:48:29.880 Look at this because the rabble that was with them. 0:48:30.080 --> 0:48:34.680 And you may ask me, Pastor Fredick, I know what 0:48:34.800 --> 0:48:38.520 rabble is. But just for the other people who don't 0:48:38.560 --> 0:48:43.759 study their Bibles as much, what exactly do you mean 0:48:43.840 --> 0:48:48.560 by rabble? When I show you this, you're going to understand. 0:48:48.560 --> 0:48:49.920 Listen to me, By the spirit of God, I'm not 0:48:49.960 --> 0:48:51.879 playing with your emotions here. I'm telling you what God 0:48:51.920 --> 0:48:57.920 showed me. When you see what the rabble was, you 0:48:58.000 --> 0:49:01.719 will begin to understand why you've been craving things that 0:49:01.800 --> 0:49:06.520 you hate that destroy you. When the Israelites left Egypt, 0:49:08.000 --> 0:49:10.319 they had to do it in a hurry. They did 0:49:10.320 --> 0:49:12.480 it in the middle of the night, and some of 0:49:12.520 --> 0:49:15.479 your life has been like that. You've just been trying 0:49:15.520 --> 0:49:18.439 to stay one step ahead of something really bad, right, 0:49:18.800 --> 0:49:22.320 survival mode, Stay with me. I know I've said a lot, 0:49:22.400 --> 0:49:25.719 and I know I cooked too much. But get some 0:49:25.719 --> 0:49:30.120 tupperware and take this home, Okay, get some toughware. Yeah yeah, tupleware, tupperware, 0:49:30.120 --> 0:49:31.800 a tuppleware, a tupplewa, a tuplewear. And I got a 0:49:31.840 --> 0:49:35.560 tupperware in the morning. I got a tupperware in night. Yeah. 0:49:36.480 --> 0:49:41.360 Now what is it? Exodus twelve? Is it thirty seven? 0:49:41.480 --> 0:49:45.800 It describes it thirty eight when they left in the darkness, 0:49:46.040 --> 0:49:48.600 about two million strong, six hundred thousand men, women and children. 0:49:48.600 --> 0:49:50.520 When they left on foot like that, and they got 0:49:50.520 --> 0:49:52.400 everything they put in their hands from the Egyptians, and 0:49:52.440 --> 0:49:54.400 they left Egypt where they were enslaved, where they went 0:49:54.400 --> 0:49:56.760 to originally be fed, which represented the place of bondage, 0:49:56.760 --> 0:49:58.680 which represents what you might be leaving this year or 0:49:58.719 --> 0:50:01.720 trying to leave. Here's what happen them. Many other people 0:50:01.760 --> 0:50:09.520 went up with them. That's the rabble. When it says 0:50:09.680 --> 0:50:13.120 give me numbers eleven four again, when it says the 0:50:13.239 --> 0:50:17.640 rabble with them begin to crave other food, it's the 0:50:17.719 --> 0:50:25.640 Egyptians that left with them that were not one of them. 0:50:25.680 --> 0:50:30.200 So when you left Egypt, all of Egypt didn't leave you. 0:50:33.800 --> 0:50:39.680 I'm not talking about people. I'm talking about perspectives, patterns. 0:50:40.920 --> 0:50:43.080 I'm talking about the things that went with you. You're 0:50:43.120 --> 0:50:47.759 in Christ, You're a new creation, but don't be alarmed 0:50:47.960 --> 0:50:50.480 when some of the old cravings are still there. That's 0:50:50.520 --> 0:50:55.160 the rabble. And God said that the first step to receiving. 0:50:55.560 --> 0:50:56.840 This is what I'm gonna teach you about for the 0:50:56.840 --> 0:50:58.480 next few weeks. Are you ready, I'm gonna pick this 0:50:58.600 --> 0:51:00.840 up next week. I'm gonna pick this up next week, 0:51:01.480 --> 0:51:04.200 but we're going to talk about having room to receive 0:51:04.760 --> 0:51:07.680 in your life. Room. Everybody put that in all caps 0:51:07.719 --> 0:51:10.319 in the chat. I feel like it's our series for 0:51:10.360 --> 0:51:13.200 the new year, room to receive, and in order to 0:51:13.239 --> 0:51:16.640 have room to receive, the new things, the grapes of Canaan, 0:51:16.800 --> 0:51:20.480 the promises of God, the good things, the encouragement, the life, 0:51:20.520 --> 0:51:23.600 the joy, the honey, the sweetness, the things that God 0:51:23.640 --> 0:51:26.120 has called you, the savor, the truth that has already 0:51:26.120 --> 0:51:28.560 in you, but keeps getting crowded out by the lies, 0:51:29.680 --> 0:51:32.600 by the rabble, by the routines, by the attitudes, by 0:51:32.600 --> 0:51:35.680 the beliefs, by the behaviors, by the limitations by the 0:51:35.719 --> 0:51:37.920 examples you've seen. I just spelled the word rabble, go 0:51:37.920 --> 0:51:40.880 back and check it. It's all of those things. It's 0:51:40.960 --> 0:51:44.120 the routines, it's the attitudes, it's the beliefs, it's the behaviors, 0:51:44.239 --> 0:51:46.799 it's the lies, the limitations you believe. And it is 0:51:46.840 --> 0:51:49.600 the examples that you have seen set that keep you 0:51:49.719 --> 0:51:53.520 reaching for Egypt's fish when Canaan's grapes are right in 0:51:53.560 --> 0:51:56.120 front of you. And I want you to remember going 0:51:56.160 --> 0:51:59.880 into this new year that before you can receive the blessing, 0:52:00.800 --> 0:52:09.960 God has to remove the rabble. And so here's the decision, 0:52:10.280 --> 0:52:12.919 and we will make it together, because I think we'll 0:52:12.920 --> 0:52:15.759 be better served if we do this together this year 0:52:16.239 --> 0:52:19.279 in order to receive God's best for our life. I 0:52:19.360 --> 0:52:22.120 want to ask you a question. Are you willing to 0:52:22.200 --> 0:52:28.080 allow God to remove the rabble, the old that feels good, 0:52:28.120 --> 0:52:31.080 that draws you back in? Are you willing to allow 0:52:31.120 --> 0:52:35.040 it will be a process. Look at this passage. It 0:52:35.080 --> 0:52:37.440 says in numbers eleven, verse thirty four. And it's so 0:52:37.560 --> 0:52:43.280 crazy because they craved quail, meat, fish, garlic, leaks, onions, 0:52:43.320 --> 0:52:46.040 all the egypt stuff. You know how good they knew 0:52:46.040 --> 0:52:49.879 the menu from Egypt. It had been ingrained in them. 0:52:50.040 --> 0:52:52.880 I'm familiar with this menu. I know exactly what to 0:52:52.960 --> 0:52:55.399 do with this old pattern. Oh, but the new one, 0:52:56.160 --> 0:53:00.960 the new one. What is this? Man? What is this? 0:53:02.040 --> 0:53:07.560 That's exactly where God wants you. It's uncertain. That doesn't 0:53:07.600 --> 0:53:11.800 mean it's unsafe. Your father has enough in his house. 0:53:14.920 --> 0:53:18.960 So God is bringing us to our senses. And when 0:53:19.200 --> 0:53:23.000 they complained, God sent them so much quail that it 0:53:23.080 --> 0:53:27.080 started coming out of there their noses. One other scripture says, 0:53:28.080 --> 0:53:30.160 but they couldn't digest it because while it was in 0:53:30.200 --> 0:53:34.560 their teeth. Pharaoh's food never fills you. And it says 0:53:34.560 --> 0:53:38.600 in verse thirty four that the place where they complained 0:53:39.320 --> 0:53:44.480 was called Kibroth Hatafa, because there they buried the people 0:53:44.520 --> 0:53:53.560 who craved other food. Can I tell you what kibbath? 0:53:54.040 --> 0:53:55.320 Put it back up because I don't know how to 0:53:55.320 --> 0:54:02.960 pronounce it. Hatava means it literally means graves of craving. 0:54:09.320 --> 0:54:11.279 And the Lord is bringing us into a new year 0:54:12.280 --> 0:54:25.080 with a question funeral or feast, Funeral or feast, or 0:54:25.080 --> 0:54:30.800 maybe he's saying, let's have the funeral for the rabble 0:54:32.480 --> 0:54:36.640 so that we can feast on what the Father has 0:54:36.760 --> 0:54:43.600 more than enough of Stand up. I'm closing, and give 0:54:43.640 --> 0:54:49.040 God twenty one seconds of praise. I'm counting you. Just clap. No, no, 0:54:49.120 --> 0:54:54.320 that's not praise like a Canaan praise, like a grateful 0:54:54.400 --> 0:55:00.399 praise like eighth the Egyptians you see today, you will 0:55:00.440 --> 0:55:05.960 see no more. Come on, get uncomfortable, get uncomfortable, Come on, 0:55:06.080 --> 0:55:12.280 get uncomfortable, and praise them. If you know, it's acomfortably 0:55:12.400 --> 0:55:20.600 out there in the father's house. So look at this, 0:55:20.680 --> 0:55:23.000 and I bless you, and I bless you. But before 0:55:23.040 --> 0:55:25.279 I bless you with the blessing of a new year, 0:55:25.960 --> 0:55:28.600 I want to show you what the father said to 0:55:28.760 --> 0:55:31.839 the older son. See, there was a younger son who 0:55:31.920 --> 0:55:35.000 left the father's house and he was starving. But that 0:55:35.160 --> 0:55:38.640 wasn't the saddest part of Luke fifteen. There was another 0:55:38.719 --> 0:55:40.760 son who was starving, and he was in the house. 0:55:41.400 --> 0:55:49.680 And that's you. That's you. That's you. There's no need 0:55:49.719 --> 0:55:53.480 for you to starve, for the need of what your 0:55:53.520 --> 0:55:57.239 father has plenty of. And I want you to just 0:55:57.280 --> 0:55:59.920 turn your poems like this is a new Year's consecration. 0:56:00.520 --> 0:56:02.000 I know we're a few days into the year. You 0:56:02.080 --> 0:56:05.359 might even be watching this three years after I appreci it. 0:56:05.360 --> 0:56:08.320 God doesn't care about that. Lift your hands, because the 0:56:08.360 --> 0:56:13.520 only thing that makes it new is you. What good 0:56:13.600 --> 0:56:16.440 is it God to give you a new opportunity if 0:56:16.440 --> 0:56:22.920 you're going to stay on an Egyptian diet. Lord, you 0:56:23.000 --> 0:56:32.320 are our food, our bread, our sustenance. We live, move, breathe, 0:56:32.360 --> 0:56:35.719 and have our being in you. That's it. All that 0:56:35.760 --> 0:56:37.319 we need is in this moment. Because you are in 0:56:37.360 --> 0:56:41.840 this moment. You are not enough. You are more than enough. 0:56:42.800 --> 0:56:46.880 You are enough with tupperware. So Lord, in the strength 0:56:46.880 --> 0:56:49.719 of this word that you spoke today, we commit a 0:56:49.760 --> 0:56:54.719 new year to you. We would hate to be the 0:56:54.760 --> 0:57:01.480 bearers of a Canaan promise and die with an Egyptian appetite. 0:57:01.640 --> 0:57:03.840 We want to speak to you this week about the rabble, 0:57:03.960 --> 0:57:07.239 the rabble, the rabble. For them, it was people that 0:57:07.280 --> 0:57:10.319 had to be buried before they could move forward in 0:57:10.360 --> 0:57:14.400 the graves of craving. But for us, it's going to 0:57:14.400 --> 0:57:18.080 be those other things. Those routines that are killing us, 0:57:18.760 --> 0:57:23.000 Attitudes that are squeezing us, beliefs that are limiting us, 0:57:23.600 --> 0:57:27.800 behaviors that are sabotaging us, Labels and limits and lies 0:57:27.920 --> 0:57:31.800 that are confining us. The examples that we see that 0:57:31.880 --> 0:57:34.080 have shown us that Egypt that we've seen is what 0:57:34.120 --> 0:57:36.800 we're going back to. But we're not going back. We 0:57:36.840 --> 0:57:40.320 don't want to go back. We're looking back. We're going forward. 0:57:40.720 --> 0:57:43.280 You brought us through this far. We didn't come out 0:57:43.320 --> 0:57:45.880 here to die. We're not going to wander in this 0:57:46.000 --> 0:57:49.400 wilderness complaining about what you fed us. You gave us 0:57:49.480 --> 0:57:52.200 what we need for the season that we're in, and 0:57:52.280 --> 0:57:56.800 we're grateful, and we're thankful, and you are a good father, 0:57:57.480 --> 0:58:01.480 and it is right for us to celeb. So we 0:58:01.560 --> 0:58:05.280 clap our hands all over the world. We thank you 0:58:05.360 --> 0:58:09.680 for our necessary food. We thank you for living water. 0:58:12.120 --> 0:58:19.000 Thank you Jesus, Thank you Jesus. I'll show you this, 0:58:19.040 --> 0:58:20.800 and I promise I'm going to turn it over to 0:58:20.880 --> 0:58:26.640 the team. When the younger son came home, the older 0:58:26.640 --> 0:58:32.080 brother was mad, but the father said in verse thirty 0:58:32.080 --> 0:58:36.120 one of Luke fifteen, my son, you're always with me. 0:58:38.040 --> 0:58:42.240 Everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate 0:58:42.280 --> 0:58:46.000 and be glad because this brother of yours was dead 0:58:46.920 --> 0:58:52.240 and is alive again. He was lost in is fun well. 0:58:52.240 --> 0:58:55.600 The older brother stood outside with his arms crossed because 0:58:55.640 --> 0:58:58.160 he wasn't used to this way of seeing his father operate, 0:58:59.120 --> 0:59:01.080 just like you're not used to what you've been experiencing. 0:59:01.200 --> 0:59:06.280 Either the father made a choice for the son funeral 0:59:07.360 --> 0:59:13.800 or feast. Your brother was dead, he's alive. You have 0:59:13.840 --> 0:59:17.800 a decision to make this year the graves of craving 0:59:19.880 --> 0:59:23.240 or the feast of your father. I pray in the 0:59:23.320 --> 0:59:36.480 name of Jesus that you will choose life. In Jesus' name. Hey, 0:59:36.480 --> 0:59:40.360 it's me again. You can't get away from me. What 0:59:40.480 --> 0:59:42.720 a privilege to share God's word with you today. I 0:59:42.760 --> 0:59:46.600 pray that you were fed, strengthened, and now ready to 0:59:46.640 --> 0:59:49.720 fight the good fight of faith. Thank you to everybody 0:59:49.720 --> 0:59:53.040 who gives to this ministry. I always like to say 0:59:53.080 --> 0:59:57.120 that because you know, without someone investing in the ground 0:59:57.200 --> 0:59:59.360 of the ministry, there can be no harvest. And so 0:59:59.520 --> 1:00:02.280 thank you all of you who give to the ministry. 1:00:02.320 --> 1:00:05.040 Regularly gave to our favorite offering. We're in a great 1:00:05.080 --> 1:00:07.800 position to reach people around the world this year. Thank you, 1:00:07.880 --> 1:00:10.800 Thank you, thank you. Make sure to subscribe, share the sermon. 1:00:11.480 --> 1:00:13.000 We just want you to know we love you. Thank 1:00:13.040 --> 1:00:14.919 you for being a part of our family. Make sure 1:00:14.960 --> 1:00:18.439 you feed yourself what your father has this week don't 1:00:18.440 --> 1:00:20.560 go around hungry like the snack Machine used to say 1:00:20.560 --> 1:00:23.560 outside my dad's barbershaw. I'll see you next time. We 1:00:23.640 --> 1:00:24.479 love you very much.
