#CanceltheFuneral #Sermon #Victory #PaulDaugherty #Church #Lazarus #2021 SERMON NOTES JOHN 11:1-40 ------EVERYBODY has a Lazarus --- it might be a relationship, job, kid--- or maybe it’s a part of your character—a part you thought would be fixed by now--- a piece of you that you thought you would have conquered by now---but it’s still there---you sent a message to Jesus come to Bethany and see about me, come break these chains so I can serve you---everybody has a Lazarus--some people’s Lazarus is BURIED SO DEEP YOU FORGOT ABOUT IT---it no longer even registered anymore--- we learned to move on from the event, but we never processed the disappointment--- how you process the disappointment determines if faith propels you, or if fear paralyzes you… --DON’T CHANGE your mind about WHO HE IS just because he shows up 2 days late ---Does God have a love language - yes - it’s not touch or acts of service or words of affirmation - he loves when YOU TRUST HIM- trust is the love language for God - we equate love with comfort but God equates love with trust! – GOD’s LOVE LANGUAGE is TRUST ---Gods job is outcome ----My job is obedience ----The longer you think you can control outcomes in your life the more frustrated you are going to feel in this journey of faith!!! You cannot control the outcome!!! ---Many were taught that faith is a way to control outcomes - do this, pray this, give this and you can expect this!! You can control the outcome - EXCEPT WHEN YOU CANT - see everyone has a Lazarus moment - God will not be manipulated - you cannot manipulate with faith the outcome of your problem - —Faith is a mystery - It is knowing that God can do anything but He won’t do everything - he might do it for someone else in the word and not you- but that requires FAITH to believe beyond your understanding - I don’t get it but God is still good!!! ---We confuse Gods love with proof in circumstantial evidence but Gods proof of love is not based on how I feel his presence but how I deal with feeling his absence - he is God even when I don’t sense god - he’s still on the throne even when I don’t understand - ----I don’t praise him for what he does for me but who He is to me! ----God is not on your schedule and will not be moved just because you get uncomfortable in a situation —— if god really loved you he would- if he had all power he would have - WRONG... — back in those days they didn’t have texts but imagine if they did - basically Jesus read the text and she saw that he read it but never responded!!! What?!!?! Have you ever been left on READ - pic on screen - “Hey God I could really use your help right now- you busy?” - read - 2 days later no response 😬🙃 The disciples were constantly confused about JESUS motives, and doubted the outcome because they hadn’t yet seen the cross, and at the cross they doubted because they hadn’t seen the resurrection--- he’s the God of the outcome—IM NOT--- I need to hear this because all I can do is SOW THE SEED—I cant make the harvest happen… LORD OF THE HARVEST--- represents the result, the seed represents the process-the obedience—I’m the lord of the seed—he’s the lord of the harvest—I decide what I sow, and I decide what I withhold. ---We have the insight of hindsight—the disciples didn’t --- we read with already knowing—they followed without knowing anything… VERSE 35--- JESUS WEPT ---before he spoke the word, he wept---before he demonstrates his authority, he demonstrates his empathy--- I AM WITH YOU WHEN YOU’RE WAITING FOR IT--- I WAS WITH YOU when people couldn’t do it for you--- HE WAS saying I AM WITH YOU in the PAIN.. --Verse 44--- LAZARUS COME OUT--- take off the grave clothes--YOU ARE ALIVE!!! It's time to awaken the LAZARUS in your life--- get out of the grave clothes and get dressed for LIFE!!!
