I believe 0:01:35.800 --> 0:01:38.440 God has amazing things in your future. I hope you 0:01:38.520 --> 0:01:49.280 enjoy this message. I just want to talk to us 0:01:49.280 --> 0:01:54.280 today about appreciating every area of our life. You know, 0:01:54.320 --> 0:01:59.520 when we appreciate something, we bring awareness to it, we 0:02:00.160 --> 0:02:04.200 bring value to it, and we are less likely to 0:02:04.360 --> 0:02:09.320 take it for granted. In Deuteronomy ten through twelve, God 0:02:09.440 --> 0:02:12.359 was taking the children of Israel to city they had 0:02:12.400 --> 0:02:15.080 not built. He said I'm giving you homes filled with 0:02:15.160 --> 0:02:18.960 great treasure. He said, I'm giving you vineyards you didn't plow, 0:02:19.360 --> 0:02:21.359 but I'm giving them to you so that you can 0:02:21.440 --> 0:02:24.720 work them. I'm giving you homes with great treasure in them, 0:02:24.760 --> 0:02:27.320 so that you can live in them. And he went 0:02:27.360 --> 0:02:30.480 on and on to tell all the wonderful gifts that 0:02:30.560 --> 0:02:34.440 he was giving them. But then he warned them. He said, 0:02:34.480 --> 0:02:37.000 I have to warn you. I'm giving you all of 0:02:37.040 --> 0:02:41.040 these things, but don't take them for granted. He said, 0:02:41.040 --> 0:02:44.239 don't take them for granted, and don't forget who gave 0:02:44.280 --> 0:02:47.400 them to you. Don't take them for granted and not 0:02:47.720 --> 0:02:53.480 honor me. See, the same thing is happening today. God 0:02:53.520 --> 0:02:56.360 has given us things, a great country to live in, 0:02:56.639 --> 0:03:01.079 He's given us homes, He's given us family, friends, jobs, 0:03:01.680 --> 0:03:04.560 and he is saying, don't forget who gave it to you, 0:03:04.919 --> 0:03:08.880 and honor me in it. You see. I believe when 0:03:08.880 --> 0:03:12.040 we appreciate God, when we appreciate the things that God 0:03:12.080 --> 0:03:17.280 has given us, we're honoring him. You see. Appreciation is 0:03:17.320 --> 0:03:22.320 a language, and it honors God. How many of us 0:03:22.360 --> 0:03:27.680 have seen videos are visited impoverished countries and realize how 0:03:27.720 --> 0:03:34.960 blessed we really are. We have running water, we have 0:03:35.040 --> 0:03:41.440 great grocery stores, restaurants, whatever we need. It's basically at 0:03:41.440 --> 0:03:47.840 our fingertips. And we see these impoverished countries and people, 0:03:47.920 --> 0:03:50.240 and our heart goes out to them and we feel 0:03:50.280 --> 0:03:54.960 so compassionate and we feel so blessed. Right then we 0:03:55.040 --> 0:03:58.320 get to our jobs, we get to our homes, We 0:03:58.440 --> 0:04:03.520 face life challenge, decisions, things go wrong, and we forget 0:04:04.520 --> 0:04:10.240 about those things. We forget how grateful we should be. 0:04:10.920 --> 0:04:17.680 We get comfortable, uninterested, We take things for granted. It's 0:04:17.839 --> 0:04:21.320 easy to do, and we all do it. But can 0:04:21.400 --> 0:04:23.600 I tell you that we've got to learn the language 0:04:23.640 --> 0:04:27.120 of appreciation. Have you ever heard yourself say I have 0:04:27.200 --> 0:04:29.200 to go to work. Oh I have to go pick 0:04:29.240 --> 0:04:33.760 up my kids. I have to make dinner. Oh I 0:04:33.880 --> 0:04:38.799 have to clean up after my husband. See the language 0:04:38.800 --> 0:04:43.800 of appreciation says this. It says, I get to go 0:04:43.880 --> 0:04:48.680 to work because I have a job. I'm so blessed 0:04:48.680 --> 0:04:50.640 to have my children. I'm gonna go pick them up. 0:04:50.640 --> 0:04:55.040 Now I have a house, I get to clean it. 0:04:56.240 --> 0:05:04.479 See that's the language of appreciation. I was talking to 0:05:04.520 --> 0:05:06.520 a man the other day and he was telling me 0:05:07.240 --> 0:05:10.960 he actually showed me a list of jobs that he 0:05:11.000 --> 0:05:13.719 had had ever since he was a teenager. And he 0:05:13.800 --> 0:05:16.440 began at thirteen years old. He was a paper boy. 0:05:17.320 --> 0:05:19.839 He went on to fifteen and he started mowing lawns. 0:05:20.920 --> 0:05:25.000 Seventeen he was shoveling snow. Then he went on to 0:05:25.040 --> 0:05:27.080 be a plumber. Then he went on to be a 0:05:27.120 --> 0:05:29.840 pipe fitter. Then he went on to be a contractor. 0:05:30.160 --> 0:05:32.400 Then he went on to and he was going on 0:05:32.560 --> 0:05:34.840 and on. I thought, dear Lord, how many jobs has 0:05:34.839 --> 0:05:38.200 this man had? But the purpose of showing me this 0:05:38.320 --> 0:05:41.640 list was this, he said, I went back through my 0:05:41.720 --> 0:05:44.560 life and I looked at every job that I've ever had, 0:05:45.000 --> 0:05:47.320 and he said, I thought about it, and he said, 0:05:47.560 --> 0:05:51.479 what did that job show me? What did that job 0:05:51.839 --> 0:05:55.960 give me? And he assigned a word to each one 0:05:56.000 --> 0:06:05.760 of those jobs, words like commitment, perseverance, integrity, responsibility. He said, Victoria, 0:06:05.960 --> 0:06:08.479 you know some of those jobs at the time, I 0:06:08.520 --> 0:06:11.680 couldn't see how they even made sense. He said. They 0:06:11.720 --> 0:06:15.559 were difficult, they were hard, he says, But when I 0:06:15.600 --> 0:06:18.240 made this list, he said, what it did is it 0:06:18.320 --> 0:06:22.200 showed me how grateful I could be for each and 0:06:22.279 --> 0:06:25.039 every one of these jobs, and how it developed my 0:06:25.240 --> 0:06:29.440 character and my resolve for the next job. You know 0:06:29.480 --> 0:06:33.760 what he was doing, he was adding value to his life. 0:06:34.279 --> 0:06:39.000 He was mining the gold. See, sometimes we get stuck 0:06:39.040 --> 0:06:42.599 in those places and we make excuses why we didn't 0:06:42.600 --> 0:06:45.080 get to the next place, said, we had to do this, 0:06:45.360 --> 0:06:47.680 our parents didn't bring us upright. Well, if I'd have 0:06:47.720 --> 0:06:50.159 had an opportunity to go to college, Well if I 0:06:50.160 --> 0:06:54.040 didn't have to work this job. You see, this man 0:06:54.520 --> 0:06:57.799 told me. I read this list often, he said, because 0:06:58.480 --> 0:07:02.080 it helps me be very aware and conscious of where 0:07:02.080 --> 0:07:05.240 I am right now and the blessings in my life. See, 0:07:05.279 --> 0:07:09.400 this man is a top executive now at a million 0:07:09.440 --> 0:07:12.680 dollar company. He said, I read it often. I never 0:07:12.760 --> 0:07:15.840 want to take this for granted. You see, we should 0:07:15.960 --> 0:07:19.720 all dig the gold out of our life. Yeah, we're 0:07:19.720 --> 0:07:27.360 gonna face challenges, We're gonna face challenges. Things aren't always 0:07:27.360 --> 0:07:29.920 going to be easy. But when we begin to look 0:07:29.960 --> 0:07:33.360 for the lessons, when we begin to look for what 0:07:33.560 --> 0:07:36.920 can build in us, you know, that's when we're gonna 0:07:36.960 --> 0:07:40.160 find the value. That's when we're going to find the purpose. 0:07:40.720 --> 0:07:43.080 You see, when you're appreciative and you look for the 0:07:43.480 --> 0:07:47.080 value in something, what you're doing is you're adding to 0:07:47.200 --> 0:07:50.640 your life. Sometimes we run around thinking there's a missing 0:07:50.680 --> 0:07:53.880 link if I can only find that thing. And when 0:07:53.920 --> 0:07:57.360 you have an attitude like that, you are lacking. And 0:07:57.440 --> 0:08:01.320 when you're lacking, it's hard to find purpose. That's way. 0:08:01.480 --> 0:08:05.560 Wherever you are today, no matter how difficult it is, 0:08:06.040 --> 0:08:09.600 ask God to show you where's the value in this? God? 0:08:10.040 --> 0:08:13.560 How can I appreciate this? Because it's something you've given me? 0:08:14.440 --> 0:08:17.360 You see. The happy people are the people that can 0:08:17.400 --> 0:08:20.120 be appreciative of what they have right now on the 0:08:20.160 --> 0:08:27.360 way to where they're going. Have you ever heard that 0:08:27.440 --> 0:08:29.960 song you don't Know what you got Till It's gone. 0:08:30.720 --> 0:08:33.040 I think it's a country Western song. It sounds like it. 0:08:33.679 --> 0:08:33.880 You know. 0:08:33.880 --> 0:08:39.000 It's unfortunate that some people have to lose something before 0:08:39.040 --> 0:08:42.600 they recognize the value in it. You see, we shouldn't 0:08:42.880 --> 0:08:46.240 have to lose something to begin to appreciate it. I 0:08:46.280 --> 0:08:47.800 was talking to a man the other day and he 0:08:47.880 --> 0:08:50.720 was telling me how he had struggled with this long 0:08:50.800 --> 0:08:53.600 battle of cancer and his recovery had been very difficult. 0:08:54.040 --> 0:08:55.760 He said, but let me tell you, Victoria, I see 0:08:55.760 --> 0:08:58.520 the world in a completely different way how I viewed 0:08:58.559 --> 0:09:01.520 my life before cancer. It's totally different than how I 0:09:01.640 --> 0:09:04.560 view my life now, he said. The important things to 0:09:04.600 --> 0:09:07.880 me are my friends and my family. He said this, 0:09:07.960 --> 0:09:11.000 and I thought it was so good. He said. You know, 0:09:11.040 --> 0:09:13.920 when you've had cancer, he said, you realize that a 0:09:14.000 --> 0:09:19.800 bucket list is overrated. He said, experiencing and appreciating what 0:09:20.000 --> 0:09:25.400 you have every day is what's important. You see, we 0:09:25.480 --> 0:09:29.400 don't want to have to almost lose something to appreciate 0:09:29.880 --> 0:09:33.480 what we have. We cannot get so comfortable and so 0:09:33.640 --> 0:09:38.600 accustomed to the blessings in our life. Someone gave me 0:09:38.600 --> 0:09:41.400 a sculpture and I liked it. It was really pretty. 0:09:41.640 --> 0:09:44.839 I put it up in my home and that sculpture 0:09:45.240 --> 0:09:46.960 was right where I want to put my Christmas tree. 0:09:47.000 --> 0:09:49.120 So I took the sculpture down and I short it 0:09:49.160 --> 0:09:51.800 in a back closet in my home. I put all 0:09:51.800 --> 0:09:54.600 my Christmas decorations up. Okay, don't judge me, but I 0:09:54.600 --> 0:09:58.120 put my Christmas decorations up a week before Thanksgiving. But 0:09:58.200 --> 0:10:01.840 I take them down right after Christmas. I was digging 0:10:01.840 --> 0:10:06.000 in a closet just not long ago, and I noticed 0:10:06.720 --> 0:10:09.040 a sheet in the back of that closet, and I thought, 0:10:09.080 --> 0:10:12.480 what is that? And I pulled off the sheet and 0:10:12.520 --> 0:10:16.280 it was that statue. Now, that statue had been in 0:10:16.320 --> 0:10:19.559 there about two years, and I thought, oh my gosh, 0:10:19.600 --> 0:10:22.320 I forgot all about this statue. You know, sometimes you 0:10:22.360 --> 0:10:25.280 get so much stuff it's maybe some pretty things, you 0:10:25.360 --> 0:10:28.120 forget about what you have. So I kind of just 0:10:28.360 --> 0:10:31.000 forgot all about the statue. So I tossed the sheet 0:10:31.040 --> 0:10:33.640 back over it because I was in a hurry, and 0:10:33.720 --> 0:10:34.200 I left. 0:10:34.360 --> 0:10:34.560 Well. 0:10:34.840 --> 0:10:37.080 A few days later, I was with some friends of 0:10:37.080 --> 0:10:40.040 mine and we were on a project and we were 0:10:40.240 --> 0:10:43.400 staging a table, and so we had the table looking 0:10:43.440 --> 0:10:45.880 really good, and somebody said, you know, we need something 0:10:46.480 --> 0:10:48.760 special on this table. We need something to set this 0:10:48.840 --> 0:10:51.640 table off. And so we were looking for all these things. 0:10:51.640 --> 0:10:54.880 What can we just top this table off with? And 0:10:54.920 --> 0:10:57.840 in my mind, I thought about that statue in my 0:10:57.880 --> 0:11:00.719 closet with a sheet on it. I thought that might 0:11:00.840 --> 0:11:03.600 just look good. So I had someone bring it where 0:11:03.640 --> 0:11:06.280 I was, and so we put the statue on it, 0:11:06.840 --> 0:11:10.559 and all the girls were like, whoa, that is beautiful. 0:11:11.280 --> 0:11:16.280 That is the most perfect thing ever. That is so gorgeous. 0:11:16.840 --> 0:11:19.000 And I stood back and I thought, that is pretty, 0:11:19.000 --> 0:11:24.120 isn't it. It's amazing how I valued the beauty in 0:11:24.200 --> 0:11:28.960 that statue because everyone else did. So on my way home, 0:11:29.080 --> 0:11:32.000 I was thinking to myself, I got to find something 0:11:32.200 --> 0:11:36.880 like that because I want my statue back. So I 0:11:36.920 --> 0:11:39.240 got home and I got on the internet and I 0:11:39.280 --> 0:11:42.120 started looking looking what can I get that's like that? 0:11:42.240 --> 0:11:45.319 What can I get that's like that? And to my surprise, 0:11:46.360 --> 0:11:49.520 I realized that that statue was a limited edition. The 0:11:49.640 --> 0:11:52.640 artist only made a few and you couldn't get it anymore. 0:11:53.840 --> 0:11:56.719 And then I found a gallery that was looking for 0:11:56.760 --> 0:12:01.959 that specific statue. They wanted to buy it. I was like, 0:12:02.480 --> 0:12:06.400 oh my gosh, this is something so valuable. I want 0:12:06.400 --> 0:12:09.600 my statue back. I want my statue back. That's all 0:12:09.640 --> 0:12:13.320 I could think about was getting my statue back. You see, 0:12:13.320 --> 0:12:17.000 sometimes we don't appreciate things until someone else sees the 0:12:17.080 --> 0:12:28.160 value in them. You see what you're taking for granted 0:12:28.160 --> 0:12:34.000 today someone else may be praying for. Some things can't 0:12:34.000 --> 0:12:42.680 be replaced. They're one of a kind, your mother, your father, children, spouse. 0:12:43.720 --> 0:12:48.560 Don't neglect it. Don't get so used to it that 0:12:48.640 --> 0:12:53.440 you forget the precious gift that it really is. You see, 0:12:53.480 --> 0:12:57.520 I believe the happiest people are the people who appreciate 0:12:58.000 --> 0:13:01.880 what they have right now and value on it. Because 0:13:01.880 --> 0:13:05.120 when you place value on it, it places value on 0:13:05.240 --> 0:13:09.320 you and your life. Listen, God's taken us to great places, 0:13:09.600 --> 0:13:12.480 but he never wants us to take for granted everything 0:13:12.480 --> 0:13:16.000 that He's given us.
