About this sermon

Three Kathryn Kuhlman snap shots or stories. The first is about faithfully using your gifts. The second is about how D.L. Moody learned to serve people as if they were his family. The third story is about Kathryn Kuhlman's mother receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This show has helped me to become more like Jesus and I am sure it can do the same for you. The podcast never has any AI and rarely has music or commentary. I give a short introduction sometimes but Kathryn's talks are unchanged. Please see above today is a compilation so it is a little different! Take care and God bless.

Hi everybody, welcome to New People. This podcast is usually a radio show episode. So far there's been about 450 radio shows. Today's going to be a little bit... different. We're going to listen to three different segments, like three different short stories, and I'm going to be leading off with a prayer, all Catherine Coleman, all taken from the radio shows. The reason I did this is because I think there's some people that get the podcast that don't get stuff from YouTube. So I want to kind of share the wealth a little bit with people who don't. normally have access to YouTube. The podcast goes throughout the world. So there you go. Also, to people that are new, God bless you. Welcome. Know that you can download any of the podcast episodes and share them as the Lord leads you. Please don't make money on it. But on the other hand, share it, you know. Anyway, not going to do a long message. God bless you guys. Here's Catherine Kuhlman with three segments and a prayer. Take care. Bye. How sweet the name of Jesus sounds in a believer's ear. It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds, and drives away his fear. It makes the wounded spirit whole and calms the troubled breast. Tis manner to the hungry soul and to the weary rest. Father God, in this moment, that weary one needs the touch of the master. Give peace of mind. Give peace of soul. Hear the prayer in that falling pier. Hear the prayer in that sigh. Be real to that one. Give peace and rest for Jesus' sake. Amen. I've come to the conclusion that he who is perfect wisdom and perfect knowledge, who knows an individual better than that individual knows himself, knows to whom he can... He does not give his gifts promiscuously. Sort of like the man who looked up and said, Why doesn't God bless me with riches? You want to know something? The same man who looked up and asked that question had not and was not being obedient to God with that which he had. He wasn't even paying his tithe. That part which was rightfully God's. And I'm sure, that if he was not obedient with that with which he had and had been given to him, God couldn't feel as though he could trust him with anything more. You understand? Why, bless you, if God were to give certain people a gift, they would misuse that gift within the first 24 hours. God knows exactly what he's doing. Yeah? And that is the reason, you see, I would not say to you that I had been given a certain gift. No one has ever heard Catherine Cooman ever say that she possessed a certain gift. Do you want to know why? If he has so chosen to give me Something special. Along with that gift, there's also a great responsibility. A tremendous responsibility. An awesome responsibility. it becomes almost overwhelming. And one must be very careful what one does with that which has been given him of the spirit. That's the reason I try to be so careful. And sometimes I think you become weary of hearing me say, Catherine Cooman has nothing to do with it. Catherine Cooman has never healed anyone. I know the truth of that statement better than anyone else. Because I know it's the supernatural power of God. My responsibility is to be very careful to give God the praise, to give God the honor, to give God all the glory. I must guard that which he has given me. Very carefully. And one day, when I stand in his glorious presence, I'm going to have to give an account of that with which he has entrusted me with today. Mm -hmm. Look up just now. perhaps through blinding tears. Remember that you're his child. And these things that I've been talking about are a part of your inheritance. You want to be filled with holy spirit? You'll feel that which you will yield unto him. Do you want to be given a gift of the spirit? Search your own heart, and first of all see whether you're being faithful and true to him with that which he has entrusted to you now. Years ago, I heard someone tell of an incident in the life of Dwight Lyman Moody. It was during the time of a great influenza epidemic in Chicago. They were dying. Thousands died. During this time of this great epidemic, Mr. Moody had worked for days and days, caring for the sick, conducting funeral services. burying the dead. And he came home one night just exhausted. He said, I can't do more. I'm so exhausted myself. And then came the call that a little girl had just died. The parents were frantic. It was their only child. Willie said, I'll go. And his little daughter, Emma, said, Daddy, can I go along with you? He said, All right, honey. They came to the humble dwelling, and Mr. Moody, tired in body, prayed a few minutes, and then left the home. And he and his little girl walked in silence down the street. Finally, she broke the silence by saying, Daddy, I was just thinking if that would have been me instead of that little girl, would you have felt bad? He was so startled. He would have felt as though the bottom of the world had dropped out. Had that been his little girl? What if it had been his little girl? He clasped her hand and then he picked her up and hugged her and carried her home the rest of the way. Put her down inside of his home. Kissed her. And said, honey, your mother will put you to bed. I'm going back to the home where the little girl died. And they stayed in that home all that night, sympathizing with the father, with the mother, arranging for the funeral service. Did everything in the world humanly possible. gave of his love, gave everything that a human being could give to another, even though they were perfect strangers to him. The whole time hearing the voice of his own little girl, I was just thinking if that had been me instead of that. Would you have felt bad? Yes. Put yourself in the place of another. Put yourself in the other man's shoes. We should love each other better if we only... Understood. My mother had never heard me preach. If you only knew Mama. If you only knew Mama. Mama has died since. Mama had never heard me preach. The very first time was when she came to Denver, Colorado. I've got to believe in the speaking in a non -tongue. I've got to believe. But what I'm trying to say to you when he does it, it'll be perfection. It'll be perfection. Everything the Holy Spirit does is perfection. And after I finished preaching, I said, now there's a prayer room back here. And I thought, oh, what will Mama think? What will Mama think? And I'd been preaching on the power of the Holy Spirit. I don't think Mama understood one thing that I said. I don't think she did. Mama knew nothing about the Holy Spirit. Mama was Methodist. She didn't know too much about the new birth experience. I had to just slip back in the prayer room and I'll go back with you. And so they came. When I walked off of that platform, Mama was just sitting there. She didn't come. She didn't know what it was all about. After about 15 minutes, the door of the prayer room opened. There must have been about a hundred more kneeling there praying. Everyone with their heads down. And I saw Mama come through that door. She only knew my Mama. You can't appreciate this. You could not have convinced my Mama. Spiritual. things. She was so set in a way. If the Methodists didn't believe it, then it wasn't so. It wasn't so. Her father, my grandfather, was so Methodist that when he died, he would have staked life that only Methodists will be in heaven. I've often thought, think what a surprise that Grandpa Walkenhurst got. And Mama knelt down. She hadn't been on her knees very long. I slowly walked over to her. Everybody was praying. And I laid my hands on her. She's such a quiet woman. When I touched her. My mama began to speak in a heavenly language. Mama never knew there was such a thing. My mama did not know there was such a thing as speaking in an unknown tongue. She didn't know it. She had never read it. She had never heard it. She had no light on it. She was not seeking for it. Explain these things. Who can? We can. And my mother began speaking just as softly and brutally. It was glorious. It was glorious. It stood there. I had to believe in speaking in an unknown tongue. I have to, I have to. I have no choice. When she opened her eyes, she took my hands in hers for the first time that she had ever approved me being in the work that I was in. She took both of my hands in hers and she said, Catherine. Preaching that others might receive what I have just received. You want to know something? My mother did not sleep for three days and two nights. So great was the joy of the Lord upon her. She couldn't sleep. She couldn't sleep. There was no sleep in her. She couldn't. This joy. This joy. This joy. The next morning, they came to see her. The joy. The joy. It's something. Who can explain it? There are no words in the human vocabulary. You know it. You know it. You know it. My mother was never the same again. Never. The next day, there was no sleep. This joy. This joy. I had a new mama. My mama was a new person. This love that radiated from her. This love. Nobody had to prompt her. Nobody had to teach her this joy, this love, this love. And my mother never, never, never, never again.
