07- 20 Things You Can Give Yourself Wholly To (Fighting Backsliding, Spiritual Junctions)

Welcome to track #7 of give thyself holy Hallelujah, right 20 things that you must give yourself to #1 first Timothy chapter 4, verse 15. Be diligent in these matters, Give yourself wholly to them so that everyone may see your progress. Amen. Right now you'll notice that He starts all the way from verse one. The Spirit clearly says that in the latter times, right? In the latter times some will abandoned their faith and follow deceiving spirits. Amen. Or if we read very simply from the King James Bible, it's quite clear over there. It says, Now the spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, Amen. Speaking lies in hypocrisy. So he, he goes to give him a whole lot of advice, and at the very end he says, Give yourself wholly to these things, meditate on them, Amen. Is there is there a meeting going on somewhere? OK, meditate on them so that your progress will appear to all. All right. Now, the Amplified Bible says, practice and cultivate and meditate upon these duties. Throw yourself wholly into them as your ministry, so that your progress may be evident to everybody. Amen. So first Timothy chapter 4, verse 15 is very key to us. Meditate on these things. Give thyself holy to them, that thy profiting shall appear unto all. So giving yourself completely and totally to the work of God or to the things that he's talking about will make your profiting appear unto all. Isn't it? Now, those who understand this Scripture right, we'll realize that God is actually teaching us a very important key of like throwing yourself into God's wonderful will. Amen. Are you listening? Yeah. God's wonderful will is very fantastic in its ability to change your life. I gave myself I, I gave myself to the ministry totally. In 1989, on the 10th of March, I became a doctor. I did my house job studying from 1st of April 1989. I finished in March 1990 and then then from 1990 to 91 to the beginning of 91, I was doing different things. But from 1991, first January, I gave myself completely to to ministry. Right since 1991 till now totally everything. I don't do business, I don't do politics. I don't do anything. I was only church quake and my progress is evidence to to you at least, it's not evidence to anybody. It's evidence to you. You understand? Yeah. So when you want to do something, when you give yourself to something, you're the evidence that you've given yourself totally to, it appears to people. People can see that, oh, this thing that a person is doing is working, you know, and that is, that is different from being in the lay ministry, you know, But lay ministry is where you are partly given to that and partly given to business or whatever else you are doing. Do you see? And usually at a certain point, you sort of choose one of them to become the main thing in your life. You understand. And so God is encouraging you to choose the work of God as an option. It's a great thing, you understand, to give yourself to the work of the ministry than anything else. A goose one day a goose. You know what a goose is? A goose was saw a horse feeding nearby and started to insult the horse and saying to the horse that you are, I am far more superior to you because yeah, the goose was explaining, he said. Because I as a goose, you know, you as a horse, you are confined to the earth. You just walk around here. But I can go into the air there and then I can also walk on the ground and I can swim in the water. So he was just insulting this horse that was passing by. You get it? And the horse also decided to defend himself and said, yeah, yeah, it is true. It is true that you fly in the air, but your flight is very clumsy. You see, I'm just able to go for short distances and you are so heavy you come crashing down. So you cannot compare yourself with a swallow or an eagle or a Falcon or any of these. And then also the other one that you say you are good at doing, which is swimming. You cannot really swim well like a fish which swims there like a stardine or I mean tuna. Go deep, stay there, stay in the water and be there for you cannot do the whole drown. So your your swimming is nothing special. You are not any wild swimmer. And when it comes to walking, your walking is so funny, you see. But for me, the horse, I am swift, I am fast, I am elegant. Very few people can run as fast as I can run and say so. The horse was trying to explain to this ghost that he's a lay minister in all the areas. You know what I'm saying? It's like he's a lay swimmer. He's a lay Walker, he's a lay flyer, and he's not perfect as any of them. Oh, because he's tried to be in all three dimensions and has not been able to be excellent in any of these that he has gone into. Because a bit of streaming, a bit of flying, a bit of walking, but none of them is not, I mean, no one will ever call when you want to the fastest. I mean, whatever streamer bed Walker your, your walking is so straight with your tail going to the back with flat feet. I mean, you know, so the goose rather became the funny one in this discussion. So God is telling you that when you give yourself fully to one thing, your profiting appears to all. That's why Ida is a better singer than all the stars. Yeah. When she starts thinking, you can see that it was like the professional has come to shame. Yeah. How many have noticed that? Yeah, You can see that because they are lay singers. So God is. You see, there's good advice for you today. What? What do you want to do? Throw yourself into it. Immerse yourself into it. Choose it. You see, this is there is no better career counseling than this. My son was telling me. He said he's he's finishing his law. So he said that his professor met him and stopped him on the way. I said, what do you want to do? He said, do you want to be a lecturer or do you want to practice? Do you want to go to court? He said, I advise, look, whatever you want to do, start do it now and do it early. He said what you do, just do it early and you will be good at it and you will prosper whichever way there will be difficulties, choose it. Those of us who are in the ministry, we are not hungry. We have found something to eat. We have got rice, at least. We've been eating rice. We've been eating corn beef, so much corn beef that we know that the corn beef has changed. Yeah. We have eaten corn beef and we know that it has changed. We are able to get Kelly Willie to eat. We have plantain. We are able to fry. By the grace of God, isn't it? We have been able to buy some plantain. Whenever we feel like frying plantain, we get some. Yeah, pork. We'll get pork kebab. We grill jollof. I mean we are in full time ministry. We've been eating jollof the chicken on the side. We even made a song about it. Where's the song? Hey jala Jala shake it on the side Pepsi on a coaster with us trying to help his life. Jala jala jala jala jala jala shake it on the side Pepsi on a coaster with us trying to help his life. Now I want me some. Food. We are so pleasant food that means we are eating your love and we have made a song. Wow. What is the use of being a doctor? You, you are not a specialist of whatever. You are not a high this, you are not this. And also in the ministry too, you are not also, I mean, you have not also done much. I mean, what is the point? Yeah, you are a goose. You're a goose, doctor. You get what I'm saying? Yeah, you're a goose. It cannot work well. It's not elegant. It cannot fly well, like an eagle, a Falcon. You cannot swim like any a fish. When you go. No, you come out. When you go, no, you come out. I mean, I know while working is, I mean, very, very funny. So choose it, start it. Give yourself to God. God is the best, highest adventure that you can ever embark on with your life. God, what is the most exciting? Most exciting adventure? To choose God and to be in the middle, It's an adventure. Every aspect of your talent and of your gifts will be tested. Yeah, you have to do the right thing. You have to be tested when I want to test you really, you know, people can stay around doing, hey, we are diminished when we want to test you. Well, send you to the mission field. There you will see everything that has been written. If you like, don't apply it. You see that. You will see that. That's when you even begin to appreciate the books. All right, so Paul was writing to this pastor Timothy, and I believe many of us are going to be pastors. How many are going to become pastors? Uh huh. Many of us here are going to be pastor soon, Amen. And not just for the title, but for the work of the Lord, Amen. So we have to now listen to the words of Paul and pay attention, give ourselves wholly to them. So what are they #1 It says the spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heap to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. So the first thing that you must give yourself, because at the end of all this, he summarizes, is that pay attention to all these things. Or did I read the amplified version to you? The amplified? What does the amplified version say? Practice and cultivate and meditate on these duties, OK Throw yourself wholly into them as your ministry so that your progress will be evident to all. Amen. Now the first thing is that the Spirit is warning. When they say the Spirit speaketh, express that people are going to fall away. So the first thing that you must secure yourself against or give yourself to is fighting backsliding. Yeah, you must try to focus on never backsliding. You see, never backsliding. Do you understand now? Never backsliding is a very important thing to have your mind on that I'm not going to backslide. Now. To backslide means to go backwards, you see. So every point which you attain in your climb of this month, you can consider Christianity to be like climbing a mountain as you keep going higher, right? Every point which you attain to, you shouldn't come backwards. You shouldn't come backwards. That's that's the whole point about backsliding, you know. So if you, if you are here in church and here you are dancing in the House of the Lord, singing in the House of the Lord, and tomorrow, you know, tomorrow you, you don't sing in the House of the Lord, you don't dance, you don't preach. All the places you attained in the ministry, you have sort of stepped back from them. That is backsliding. Backsliding is to slide almost sometimes unnoticeably, you slide backwards. Do you understand? So everybody should try to note where you have arrived at. Where have you arrived at now? Where have you arrived at spiritually? What have you ever done spiritually? What good thing have you reached now? What good place have you gotten to in your climb on the mountain? And you have to give attention, like really think about it so that you don't go backwards. Because for me, it has been something that has really helped me to continue serving the Lord. It's like, I notice that this is what I have reached in the ministry. Do I? Am I going to come backwards? Yeah. Am I going to come back? I used to preach. Now I sit in the congregation and they preach to me every Sunday. So you have gone backwards? Yes, you've gone backwards because you don't. You don't preach at time. You, you preach now. There's no preaching in your life now you're only in the bank or you will sing. But now you don't sing at all. So you slid, you slid, you slid in backwards. That's what has happened. You are coming back, back, back and back. Sliding is like a motorway without sign posts, like the Tema motorway. It's 21 kilometers without signs. So when you are getting to Tema, unless you know the landmarks, you don't know that you are going to Tema. You just keep going and then you see that you've arrived there. It was built in 1965 or so and they've never been able to add 1 yard to that thing or expand it. Are you there? Amen. So let us all look at our spiritual progress. I've reached a point where I can pray for one hour. Now I pray for 5 minutes. Like that gentleman whom my wife told you were my choirmaster today. He is not a choirmaster. Where he has slidden backwards. You used to share. You don't share. You share politics. Now. Back slidden. You have gone back. OK. This guy over there. See the guy? Yeah. Stand up. There must be water. Stand you. Yes, You. You. Yes. There must be water. Where is it? Now lift up your hands. Lift up your hands, you surre. Are you happy about it? Are you excited? He's not. He's not happy. He's holding back. Are you excited? We can't see you. Stand up. Fire. OK. Are you happy? Are you excited now? Many times when it comes to backsliding, Christians do not believe that they have backsliding. Because you feel that backsliding is smoking, drinking, fornicating, and not going to church, then you are backsliding. No, that's not backsliding. That is end stage backsliding, the last stage of backsliding that you are at the end and you are about to drop off. It's called Cliff hunger now hanging on the Cliff about to denounce Christ. What you must do is ask yourself, I I was doing this. I used to pray because that's the only way I can assess myself. I used to pray. I used to pray in the gardens, Dr. Go the gardens at Lagon from 4:50. I go there and I pray from 10:00 in the morning to 5 alone on my own 7 hours and then I come back home. So I was doing that as a student, a Lego student. What about today? If I, if I am not praying in those kind of levels, then the truth of the matter is that I have slidden backwards even though I'm not smoking or I'm not smoking yet. Forgive. Do you understand? So backsliding is to assess yourself from a height you have achieved and attained, and to decide that I cannot drop below where I have reached. That's if you've even reached a good place. Some of you can't even really backslide because you are already down. It's not really far to go. The gravity is not pulling, you are not very high, so you don't easily slide. If you have certain problems, OK, let's say sextical problems and you are able to solve them, you get it. And then you start to re enter those technical problems. Then what should you tell yourself? I am sliding, I'm sliding backwards, you know. So the, the spirit is expressly saying that people who used to be wild will be sliding backwards. So we are going to see people who are on campus after school. I tell you though, this guy was the chief elder, this guy was elder. This this guy was this, this guy was this. He was the main guy organizing outreaches, carnivals. This today, when you call him, he will tell you something. If you don't take care, you will be offended. Yeah, that is how it happens. So you must tell yourself. I am positioning myself so that I do not backslide. Now if you want to protect yourself from backsliding, you have to watch certain things. Number one, you have to watch junctions, spiritual junctions of your life. A junction is like a a change. Any time there is a change in life, backsliding happens. From secondary school to 1st year university people change and fall away from first year to 2nd year is also but not so much. Sometimes even people forward slide and then third year. But coming out of school, from finishing school to life, you know, then another junction. That is where you can also step back. It happens a lot. Then in Life, OK, from unmarried to marriage, it's another junction. Archbishop Hidalhosa, Bishop Dan Gomez was telling me one that Archbishop Hidalhosa told himself, you marry and let me see if you are anointed. If you are anointed after you are married, then you are called. You marry and let me see. I want to see after you are married for some time, if you are still anointed and I know that you are called. Yeah, when you marry, it is more difficult to pray, more difficult to fast because she is cooking. You have suffered all these years and something is being done for you. And then after that, when you have children, another junction, that's a fourth junction. These are the junctions of your life, the 5th junction when you travel. When you travel and you live in a new country or a new place, my God have mercy, you can easily change. We'll come and visit you in Australia and you see that you are not happy to see us. So I'm not excited. Now you see, why don't you decide today that all these bad prophecies will not happen to you? Why don't you just decide that minus me, in the name of Jesus. Amen. What do you think? Yeah, Decide that all these things will not happen to me. Yeah. That after you have preached, you become a castaway. Yeah, that's why I'm still preaching. I remember preaching in Kolibu and I remember one time I took my children to Kolibu to go and do a dorm broadcast because I said yeah, I was married with children and everything. I went to Kolibu and I went to dorm broadcast. I said, how can it be that I cannot do this anymore? I should be able to do it. And I preach at dawn in Kolibu. Yeah. So what I'm saying is that you have to decide. I cannot fall away now. Many of us are supported. Another thing that causes backsliding is when friendships change. Like maybe you don't even travel low. Nothing changes that A friend who supports you in spiritual things goes away. Like if Courage is supporting you, he's always encouraging you, talking with you, and then he travels and he's no more there to be texting you and calling you and saying come to church, are you coming, Charlie? Are you going? I'm going, Are you going? I'm going, Are you going or your girlfriend, boyfriend? I mean your girl's girlfriend, boy, boy to boyfriend or your friend, your friend that you've been moving with moves out for some reason, you understand. Then you start to see whether you standing on your own are really a good Christian. That's why you see a lot of backsliding. So that's another junction that causes people to backslide. So you have to watch out. I had a friend like that and he backslid. I was, I used to go, I used to go everywhere with him. Everywhere I would go with him. Everywhere I would go with him, everywhere I would go with him. And one day he went to a different school because we were all in the same school. He went to another school. I mean, the first day that he went to the school, he's back slip my assistant, follow up director. I mean, I go on follow up with him. Yeah. So just a change of friendships can cause you. Are you listening to me to lose your concentration because your best friend either is dead, traveled, gone, on a mission you didn't go, or this went. That's when something happened. Or a pastor, the pastor you are used to is gone. If I'm dead, will you continue to serve the Lord? Yes. Oh, Bishop was there. It was easy because as I'm here, a lot of people are hanging on threads around me. Yes. So my presence, it makes it easy for certain people to say that they are serving the Lord. But if I'm not there, will they be able to serve the Lord and still serve the Lord when the circumstance changes completely? And so it's all it's those are the times and those are the junctions that you have to tell yourself. Look, this is what has been talked about. I must not go backwards even for one inch. Devil cannot get you to step back. Otherwise, your Christianity is not worth much. It's associated with a friend, it's associated with a pastor, it's associated with a person, it's associated with a circumstance. You are your Christianity just because of that circumstance that is still there. If it changes more, you marry small, you don't have a child, or there's a kind of a problem in the marriage, or you marry an incompatible person because they are incompatible people. When you have short relationships, you easily marry an incompatible person. And when you don't have good advice, you easily marry an incompatible personality. But there are people that you are not compatible with. You may think there's nothing like incompatibility, but there are people that you are not compatible with because it's not, it's not a it's not suited for you and you are not suited for for his type of person. You are not suitable. Your, your you, you in the first life do not work well. The short relationship can easily lead you into one of those. And you now entered an incompatible marriage, huh? And you are not coming out. That's why you see that because of this, I said you are fulfilling the scripture 100%. Why do you fulfill scripture? So exactly, exactly, exactly, exactly, huh? Oh, you don't understand my question. Why do you fulfill it? So. 100%, yeah. So for me, I will tell I've been tempted to backslide 1000 million times. When I crossed from from five to sixth form, I was tempted. Sister, you're not feeling well, like you're OK. Are you bored? But why? Why have you tired? Why is it your neck is paining you? So you're come. We massage massage the neck for her. You take the take the water there and massage your neck. Small. Just small around the neck. You are not happy. She's not happy. OK. This is the point that if you don't believe that you can backslide, you will backslide. But if you believe that you can backslide, I mean literally, you believe that you can actually turn into a almost an unbeliever, then you will find that is 90% of your protection, yes. Let him that thinks he stands. He is the one who must be more careful because once you think you are, I can never fall away. You are the main person who can fall away. So that's what I'm preaching about. It's not to tell you just though these are the junctions that you can backslide, but it's to make you believe that you are a candidate for backsliding. Totally, totally. All of us are. Even I am a candidate for backsliding. That's why I was telling you what is backsliding. You can change so much. Even in the ministry. You can change so much you can't even recognize yourself. Yeah. So if you look at the church today, we are so different. The church itself can backslide. The whole church can slide backwards. I mean, when you look at when you look at the church, what I'm preaching to you here. That's why I said I don't want workers here. I don't want grown-ups here because when I see your face on that I can't preach what I want to preach again issue because the larger Czech does not want to hear give yourself wholly to God, they want to hear. 7 steps to a successful marriage 7 steps to a successful business 8 reasons why this 24 steps to abundance and improvement in life's improvement. Isn't it living life happily? Is it not true? A principle to success, Principles of hope. I mean, yes, this is what the larger test wants to hear. I'm telling you. So if I see you here when you are not supposed to be here or you come and put your feet up, I don't want you in my camp. I don't. I not that, not that. I I do not want you in my camp. Not this camp. Another camp. I have another message for another camp, but not here. I have different messages. By now, I must have different messages. I've been preaching for some years. I have so many different things to preach about. But here I'm talking about something. You have so many people you don't even know who is there. What What do they really want? Yeah. I hope you get what I'm saying. Yeah. So the point that I'm making is that it is possible to go backwards. Backwards, not that it's possible it is happening. So decide that as true I can and decide that I will not backslide. If you are here and you come from Nigeria and you came to Ghana to find God in a serious way, I don't want to find you five years from now, nine years from now doing something different in Nigeria. I said no, it was when Ghana that we were, we were serious. Now then resign now. Just go to the devil right now. Call the devil, I'll give you his number. You call the devil and say come for me now. Just come for me now. I'm down for. Just come for me now. I give up. Now, if you're from another country, you see, when you travel to another country, that's the time that you can rise up spiritually. You can also go down spiritually. So if you came up spiritually here, be careful. When you go back, you can go down. Down. Yeah. Some people, they backslide every holiday school, then they come back. Their Christianity is for school. Christianity is a school thing. It's not. It's not for home. Home. There is no Christianity, no God, no whatever. And it's for it is for school. It's not for home. I'm telling how many know somebody like that? Not you, but you know somebody like that. Raise up your hand. Yeah. It's a school phenomenon. Your eldership is a school thing. It's like chale, we are going, Chale, we are moving, we are moving. As soon as you are at home, you cannot practice Christianity. When your parents are there. Once you see your mother, once you see your father, once they give you work in the house, your Christmas, everything gets finished. It's like you are overwhelmed by life's realities. But Christianity is is supposed to, I mean, still persevere through the realities of life as a student at home or married or with children in the house and not to be something that once my children have come, you know, Bishop are used to whatever was so easy to have three small children. No, you, you are lucky because you are a man. You say you are stupid. You are foolish. I mean, your talking is so silly, idiotic. And thank you for the word idiotic. You are a man. Then why don't you tell me I am a man and just walk out now? Why are you sitting listening to me now? No, I'm not a man. Now you are listening to me. But tomorrow you will tell me that. But you are a man. You don't know what it's like to have children. You know when you have a lot of children, Bishop, You know I wasn't expecting, but I have two sets of twins. It wasn't what I thought I would ever. You know, I have four children now. So, Bishop, you know how we used to dance. We've done all the we have said God before, but things are different now. And you say you are a man. You may not understand. I know you don't understand because I know what you said last time. Walk out. I said walk out now. Go out now, because I'm a man and I don't understand this. Listen, I'm a fool. I don't understand this. So go now. Go now. Suck the person. Wait. You say I'm a man today. You say I'm a man tomorrow you tell me. I say I'm a man. I don't understand anything. So why? Why are you listening to me now, since I don't understand many things? So the spirit warns expressly that Charlie, in the last days people are going to fall. You see them? High it's calm down, High it's calm down. High, it's calm down and it's all caused by junctions yeah, it's all caused by junctions. And I'm glad you know that when I was in school I used to preach and now I preach on campus you see I haven't backslidden because when I was on campus I was preaching and I'm preaching on I'm still on the same campus same campus. Those of you who think I want to see whether you'll be singing in the future, I want to cancel that. Your voice is picking out for those of you who dance, Sweet Papa. And then now you say Bishop. It's too big here. It's too big. I'm a goose. I'm now a goose. I'm breastfeeding. Look, some of us who have been coming to you, we have children. We have families. As it is, as you will not notice that we have that. We have. Yeah, we have a thing we don't have. So you have to learn. It's an act For every junction. You rise up in the spirit to the challenge. When you go back home, you rise to the channel and say, look, I'll be a Christian in this house. Maybe you don't have any church like Lighthouse there, so use our first love. So what do you do? You start one, start one. All right. Father, we thank you for this opportunity we have in your presence in the name of Jesus, Amen. OK, good, good. Now to conclude this little section on backsliding, right, Matthew 20, verse 16, it says many are called but few are chosen. The few who are chosen are the few who did not vaccinate. Yeah, many are called, few are chosen. So it is good for you to recognize that between the many who are called and the few who will be chosen. That's why I'm always extending the invitation, because you will extend to many, but in the end, few are chosen. Why? Because many of the people who are chosen backslides. All right, so from today you must be conscious of the fact that I can be a potential backslider. Tell your deva I realize that I can backslide, I've accepted it and I'm going to grow wild in Jesus name. Anybody here who has ever been an elder, a shepherd, I do not want to ever find you less than you are today. If you are acting drama, where are these dramatists? Stand up, where are they? Oh, God, what's your name again? John, let me never hear of you in a funny situation. I'll meet you in a bank and you say, Bishop, I want to remind you who I am. Oh, God, what is that? You. And you have set aside this and that. No, no, not you. So if you, if you are able to act a drama today, you must be able to act in a drama tomorrow. Just have that mind. I will maintain what I am doing. I will never reduce any of the things for each, at least to maintain it. If it's the West comes to the West, sit down. Those of you who say you are stars, singing stars, will you stand up? You see, many are called to sing, a few are chosen. The day, the first day that I saw Ida singing, she was singing with some others. But today she's a professional singer. She's a professional. Many are called to sing, but few are chosen to sing. And and some of you have already started backsliding. It's true. There was a time when your zeal for singing and for some of these things was even more true. True blue, You think I don't know? Sit down now. This is what it means to backslide. Jeremiah chapter 2 verse 13. They have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and have hewed them out systems broken, systems that cannot hold water. So you have exchanged a free flowing fountain for a broken pot. That is what it means to backslide. Amen #2 Jeremiah chapter 2 is 21. To backslide means to turn into a degenerate plant. From a normal plant you turn into a degenerated plant. Mercy. The next way description of backsliding is that you are turning into sounds like a lady who has forgotten her ornament, a wedding dress. Can a maid forget her ornament? When you pull it to the left, the horse and it turns left. That's how you ride. You pull here and then it starts going. The face turns here. The more trained the horses. When you wear your old suit for your wedding, nobody will see just I mean nobody will know that it's new or old. They wear your old shoes to your wedding.
